TRUDE in Hamburg

I celebrated the New Year with you yesterday and it was just as wonderful as last year. Lovely atmosphere, good food, very friendly staff. All in all, a fantastic evening. Thank you all for this wonderful evening.

Yesterday was my second time at the New Year's Eve party. The buffet was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, and the crowd was pleasant.

On Boxing Day, our family of four visited T.R.U.D.E. and had a very pleasant evening. The restaurant is both charming and urban – a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The service was consistently friendly, pleasant, and attentive. The food and drinks were of excellent quality and tasted delicious to all of us. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit in a relaxed atmosphere. We were especially pleased to meet the very friendly owner – that made the evening perfect. We will gladly return.

It was our first time there, and we really enjoyed it. The food was very good. We went back the next evening. Everyone was happy. We'd gladly go again.

We held a Christmas party there; it was lovely, but quite cramped. I can't say whether that was because there were so many of us, but I would have liked more space between the tables. On the other hand, the area in front of the restaurant was very nice; the Christmas decorations and lights created a very cozy atmosphere. The food was a buffet and tasted good. However, it wasn't particularly generously laid out, and the queue in the narrow space was quite impressive 😊

I've been here twice: once for my company Christmas party and once for a private Secret Santa gift exchange. Both were fantastic. The staff was friendly (and even had time for a joke). The facilities were excellent. In a word: Great. I'd gladly come again.

We visited Trude three evenings in a row without a reservation. Since we were only there for after-work drinks, I can't comment on the food. The service was excellent, attentive, friendly, and quick, so we were sure after the first evening that we would be back for the following nights as well. The selection of drinks is enormous, including a large cocktail menu and a daily happy hour in the evenings. I was a little disappointed that Trude only serves König Ludwig wheat beer, as their black beer is also phenomenally delicious and deserves a place on the drinks menu. For a relaxing nightcap, we wholeheartedly and without hesitation recommend Trude. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

It's all in the realm of something you could do once in a while, especially with a larger group. The food is okay but not amazing, the location is quite iconic, but very loud. The service is attentive, but a bit overwhelmed when it's busy. Overall, not a disappointment, but nothing to write home about either.

Misunderstandings arose with the service at Sunday brunch. There were also problems with the billing: the group paid, but some of the tables were incorrectly selected. As a result, the final bill included two extra full breakfasts. The good news is that the issue was investigated and the error on TRUDE's side was identified.

The Advent brunch was varied and delicious, there was something for everyone.

We were very well looked after by Michelle and her colleagues.

We were here with a large group (around 80 people) and had pre-ordered food. This was served as bowls/platters for each table. Firstly, I was bothered that all the side dishes were served together with/underneath the meat on the platter. Secondly, the service was very disorganized. There was clearly no fixed assignment of servers to the tables, so orders were taken from one server to another, and sometimes drinks didn't arrive even after ordering three times.

Prices are quite high. We had a delicious soup there in winter. ;) Otherwise, the dishes are usually around €20. They sometimes have brunch, which looks good. Haven't tried it yet, but it certainly sounds great. The noise level is quite high. So, dining there as a couple is no problem, but with more than four people, you can't hear each other anymore. :)) Something to keep in mind if you're planning to go with a larger group. Friends of mine got married/celebrated there. I like the atmosphere. However, there's a large, rectangular bar in the middle of the room, which makes it less suitable for events with a stage.

What a shame, I've never rated food so poorly before. It's truly painful to see dead animals cooked so brutally. The soups were great, though. There were six of us. The burgers were very tasty, but the meat was overcooked. The venison was also delicious, although it took quite a while to chew. The absolute low point was the duck burger; for €23, the meat was so overcooked and reheated... The young waitress handled it superbly. The cappuccino was also delicious. But overall, the food was bad.

I had breakfast there for my birthday. The buffet was fantastic, and so was the service. They anticipated our every need. Excellent!

Good and clean restrooms. They have happy hours when the delicious cocktails and long drinks are cheaper or reasonably priced 😉

A bit noisy depending on the number of guests, but also well-suited for private parties. Worth a visit any time of year...

I recently visited TRUDE again after a long time. And it's still incredibly loud. The hall-like atmosphere of the place remains unchanged. What they have changed, however, is the pricing. Which brings me to the crux of my review: I paid €26.30 for a rather small burger with a gluten-free bun and fries. I find that outrageous, as the burger was alright, but nothing more. The fact that our server wasn't very enthusiastic is beside the point.

We were there with a group of 50 people and had pre-ordered our food. Unfortunately, the kitchen apparently wasn't able to prepare it in time and pre-cooked the food and reheated it later. The chicken schnitzel was completely dry and tough, and the fried potatoes were more like fried boiled potatoes – very soft, with no onions or anything. Simply uninspired. Even the meat we complained about wasn't much better after being replaced. However, the service was always attentive and friendly. Perhaps the restaurant is simply too big for the kitchen. Sometimes less is more.

Unfortunately, the food was so bad that I sent it back. The meat was far too dry and the fried potatoes inedible.

I was absolutely thrilled – from the first bite to the last! The Smash Burger was simply amazing – perfectly seared, juicy, with that slightly crispy crust and an incredibly intense, savory aroma. The combination of the fresh bun, tender meat, and perfectly balanced ingredients was simply unbeatable. The atmosphere is great too: relaxed, modern, and typically Hamburg – you immediately feel at home. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you feel completely welcome. In short: If you're in Hamburg, you absolutely have to stop by T.R.U.D.E! The Smash Burger alone is worth the visit – a definite 5 stars! 🍔✨

I'm a wedding photographer and was privileged to cover a civil ceremony at Trude – and I was absolutely thrilled! The venue has so much character and charm, with a wonderful blend of modern atmosphere and cozy flair. The lighting, the decor, and the lovingly designed details provide the perfect conditions for natural, atmospheric photos. The team was also super friendly, attentive, and totally uncomplicated – you can feel that they put their heart and soul into their work. A truly fantastic location for weddings and celebrations of all kinds! 📸✨

We stopped by on a whim one weeknight without a reservation. It was very busy, but the very friendly staff member briefly asked for our patience and then found us a table. Very fast service, the food was excellent; we had the Wiener Schnitzel. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos, but I'll definitely go there again.

I had arranged to meet there for coffee. The ambiance is very nice, and the food at the neighboring tables looked very good.

The food was delicious, but for a brunch restaurant, we would have preferred more choice. There were three types of cheese, a small platter of ham, hard-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and bacon, jams, and a platter of tomato and mozzarella. We only saw two types of rolls and a croissant, nothing more. You can't really complain. However, considering we were paying for brunch, we would have preferred something more "exciting." Located in a former factory building, it's really nice—industrial. Unfortunately, it was a bit too noisy, probably because of that and personally, because there were so many people there. Therefore, we didn't understand why the larger group wasn't put in the separate room. It was empty, so it would have been obvious. The staff were very nice and tried to be accommodating, but unfortunately, we had to wait a bit longer for our drinks.

A very friendly welcome upon entry. The service is very friendly and attentive to the customer. The food is super delicious; we ate everything. I had the mushroom/pumpkin/chestnut ragout, which was really, really delicious! The ambiance is also very good, and the background music is quite good. All in all: a very good restaurant. We highly recommend it!

A visit there is an absolute must when in Hamburg. It's a bit off the beaten track, but it's set on a beautifully restored factory site. We received a very friendly welcome and felt very welcome. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and we were also impressed by the way they interacted with one another. The food was very good and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, we can't give it more than 5 stars.

The rolls were from last week, the cheese was completely dried out, and the coffee was cold. The service was absolutely unfriendly, lacking in enthusiasm. I paid €280 for cold coffee, a cold roll, and cheese from two weeks ago. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

T.R.U.D.E. is located just outside the city center. The restaurant is very large. Top-notch service 👍. The decor/layout is top-notch 👍. Food: Well, the selection is very limited, which would be okay if they were "professionals" in the food they offer. Unfortunately, the Wiener Schnitzel, although large, was dry and limp. It seemed as if it had been cut in half, opened up, breaded, and cooked. So, the schnitzel was very thin, and increasingly difficult to slice...tough, really! The warm potato salad was too sour for me and very similar to the one at Aldi. The chicken burger was also overcooked and difficult to slice. The goat cheese and pumpkin burger was supposedly good. The cocktail (Sex on the Beach) was large, but tasted too much like juice. The 43ee with milk was also either too weak with the liqueur or too strong with the milk. The restaurateurs should finally stop using the 12er ouzo. Alternatives like "Plomari" would be more popular. The food was disappointing for three out of six of us. But we had a lovely evening. Thanks also to the service team 👍👌🙏.

The food here is delicious and the staff is on the ball. Kai and Piri looked after us in a good mood, and we had a lovely evening.

A stylish location and very close to Barmbek train station, TRUDE is easily accessible by public transport. The place has an industrial charm, with high ceilings and exposed pipes. The noise level can be a bit loud at times, as TRUDE can accommodate a large number of guests. There's also an outdoor area, which I personally prefer in the summer. The drinks menu is extensive and full of delicious cocktails. (Note happy hour). The menu should have something for everyone: Burgers, pasta, salads, and seasonal dishes. Service was always friendly and fast. 👍

Dear friends, what do you expect from the TRUDE Restaurant? Landhaus Scherrer, Kevin Fehling? You have to keep things in perspective and respect the work of the chefs and the staff in general. We were invited to a private birthday party with a buffet and about 35 guests. The buffet was plentiful, fresh, and delicious. The drinks were also delicious and varied. The two waiters were extremely attentive, kept a watchful eye at all times without being intrusive, and were wonderfully friendly!

We had our wedding lunch here and the team was very professional. They have a variety of options for event planning, whether you want to decide all the details yourself or if you want to receive their professional advice. The service the day of was great and everybody enjoyed the food!

The drinks were good and the atmosphere pleasant. Unfortunately, the Smash Burger was dry. My honest response to the waitress's question was simply, "The next one will be better." No apology or solution. When I was paying, I wanted to pay with a card and had already held it out when the waitress asked me directly whether I or my colleague would tip. This seemed very pushy and significantly spoiled the overall impression.

A beautiful location with a large outdoor area. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We each ordered a tarte flambée, one with goat cheese and one with vegetables. Both were incredibly delicious. The crust was crispy and well-filled. The value for money was good. We really enjoyed the evening and would gladly come back.

A nice place to meet friends for a drink. But really, just a drink. The food is expensive, and the quality, or rather, the craftsmanship, doesn't match that. For example, the schnitzel is Viennese style, which isn't bad, but it was very dry, the breading completely uncooked. Normally, you always have to say it's a shame that the potato salad is under the schnitzel because the breading gets soggy, but that couldn't happen here because it wasn't crispy. It also had no flavor. If the cucumber salad was the best part of the dish, that says it all. Even €13 would have been too much, but it cost €23. And this continues on the menu. Burgers are completely overpriced, and even without any side dishes for that price. Actually, I can only recommend the currywurst with a clear conscience; it offers good value for money. The location is great, easy to reach by public transport. The venue is also nice, but due to the size of the room, it's very noisy there, making quiet conversation difficult. A place to celebrate and drink.

The atmosphere inside is a bit loud, but the service and food are amazing. We go to Hamburg two or three times a year to visit family, and we always go there at least once.

The food was delicious. The price-performance ratio here is a bit higher than expected, but the portions are also large. A 0.4-liter Barmbek beer costs almost €6. The servers were all very friendly, and the restaurant's atmosphere is cozy.

I would have actually rated the food as very good – delicious mashed potatoes, bratwurst, sauerkraut, and sweet mustard – but the sauerkraut had a green, slightly sedimentary residue underneath, as you can see in the photo, and that wasn't so good. The service was excellent, though, and the price-performance ratio was a bit expensive. Just make the Barmbek beer a normal size; it doesn't have to be 0.25 and 0.4 liters 🤷🏼‍♂️ My menu almost fell apart, so that could be swapped around. The ambiance is very nice, though 👍 I'd give it a solid 7.5 out of 10 and recommend it 👍🏻

It's definitely a good place. When it's crowded, it can be difficult to have a conversation inside. Recommendation: Barmbeker beer. And currywurst isn't just for snack bars!

We had brunch there on Sunday. The food was also very delicious. But when the bill arrived, we were quite surprised. The bill came to 79 euros for two people. Firstly, we were charged 6 euros for an orange juice that we didn't even have. Secondly, we then learned that Trude doesn't have a flat white on the menu. Therefore, the price for a flat white is calculated as follows: Cappuccino 4 euros + Espresso 3 euros + Oat milk 0.80 euros = 7.80 euros for ONE coffee. The price is one thing, but we found it rather poor that we weren't made aware of this when ordering. Even a complaint to Trude via email after our breakfast has so far (for a week) gone unanswered. Given this, I can't recommend the restaurant. To be honest, we felt a bit ripped off. Addition: The restaurant contacted me via email and will optimize their processes. I think that's great!

Saturday breakfast at T.R.U.D.E. was simply wonderful! The atmosphere was incredibly cozy and relaxed, just the right thing to start the day in peace. The buffet selection was impressive – from fresh rolls and croissants to a great selection of cheeses and cold cuts to delicious jams and honey. I particularly enjoyed the freshly prepared scrambled eggs. The fruit was also super fresh and varied. The coffee was excellent. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The value for money is absolutely top-notch. For what is offered, the price is more than fair. I can recommend breakfast at T.R.U.D.E. to anyone who values ​​a high-quality, relaxed breakfast. I will definitely be back!

It wasn't bad, but I expected more! What a pity.

On September 2nd, about 30 of us visited here after a funeral ceremony. We came for dinner, to be together with the family, and to reflect on everything. It was a wonderful place to do it. We absolutely loved the food, the service, and the wonderful atmosphere. We all felt very comfortable. Thank you so much.

We were there for my brother's birthday; it was a very cozy place. It was packed that day, but we were still well looked after. The brunch has something for everyone; the highlight was the waffle station for my daughter. She and my brother also got breakfast for free, saving €35, which is quite impressive. We'll definitely be back, at the latest for my birthday, although Grandma and Grandpa will be there before then too 😉.

Great restaurant and great service

The food was delicious. Our waiter, Leon, accommodated all our requests and made recommendations. (A huge thank you for this positive experience.) We were lucky that the nice weather meant it wasn't too crowded inside, so we were able to have a pleasant conversation.

It's very interesting to learn about the construction of the Elbe Tunnel while eating here. We spontaneously celebrated our wedding in Trude's fireplace room – and it was simply dreamy! Within just three weeks, we put together a wonderful celebration with Andrea. Her support was invaluable: professional, warm, and full of great ideas. You can immediately tell that she has unparalleled experience with events. The food was fantastic – individually tailored to our wishes. What was particularly great was that it was prepared entirely without alcohol, so even our Muslim guests felt completely at home. The appetizers were delicious, and the champagne reception with refreshing lemonades and iced tea was just the thing for the summer temperatures. Communication with Andrea was consistently quick, uncomplicated, and solution-oriented. She was always available and had a suitable answer for every question or uncertainty. We couldn't have wished for a better location and a better team for our special day – we absolutely recommend it!

Unpleasant experience. I had a salad and chicken. The chicken was rock hard. No one even asked if everything was okay, even though it wasn't busy. When I told the waitress while clearing the table that the chicken was much too tough, she accused me of not having said it sooner. I would have, too. If they'd asked me. I told her to take it as honest feedback and that I didn't expect any compensation. As a waitress, I would have thanked her and said I'd pass it on to the kitchen. She zipped off without even the slightest attempt at "I'll still make the guest feel good." A direct appeal to the owners: I know that guests have different expectations. But you've been in the market for so long, how can you manage to serve such a simple meal like this? Anyone would have called the chicken inedible. Train your staff better and take feedback as an opportunity.

Sitting outside on a summer evening is fine. I've known Trude for a good 15 years now, and unfortunately, it hasn't gotten any better. Outside, you sit under black parasols on concrete. A bit of greenery surrounds it. It used to be nicer. The currywurst is still large. The two sauces are boring, but the fries feel like 500g. So, more fries than sausage. Mayo and ketchup on the side. It's a bit steep at €14. The Caesar salad with goat cheese was okay. Unfortunately, everything was okay overall, with fast service. But we won't be going back. It's a shame. It used to be nice.
