Great service and I like the music

Berlin's oldest restaurant. They serve classic Berlin dishes. I had the Konigsberger Klopse and the Apfeltarte. Both of them were really good. Reservations recommended.

We arrived here for a quiet drink, wine is extremely expensive. Small glass of white wine €8. Our waiter was lovely took our order and checked with us if we wanted more. He was very helpful. When we were finished we asked a lady for the bill and she said it’s cash only under €20, this is something we should’ve been told before we sat down but it was never mentioned, so we asked her to check how much our bill was at (we didn’t have any cash), she came out with the card machine it was €18.80 so she said she’d take the card, then asked how much tip are we giving. Would’ve given this place a nice review but scamming people into giving cash is really despicable. Not impressed with the service from this waitress, wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend. My parents will be visiting soon and I told them to avoid.

We followed an Instagram advertisement and the experience lived up to the advertisement, super delicious food and their pork shank, can definitely be recommended 👍

Our dinner was reasonable. Perhaps if we had been seated at an outdoor table, our opinion might have been more favorable as the ambiance would have compensated for the negative aspects. The food was decent but lacked variety. The service varied depending on the staff member.

They were friendly even though I went and ate it alone😊 The Haksen seemed to melt in my mouth and I had to have beer with it🫠🫠 It's a bit expensive, but I think it's because the prices in Europe are like this and I ate Haksen by myself haha. It was so good!

A very local old restaurant, the food is highly recommended. We had the best ever pork knuckle here. Very busy and all full, only one waitress we waited about long until our food was served. It was worth waiting.

What a lovely place! I was completely blown away by the food: upgraded traditional German cuisine. The Königsberger Klopse (that I used to dislike as a child) were my favorite, the mashed potatoes were delicious. My guests loved the pork knuckle, can’t go wrong with that! Büble beer is great and the service is friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend and I’ll be back with my next visitors!

The food was really very good! Königsberger Klopse at a higher level, but the price is still too high at €21. Prices are generally high, you can do that for just one meal, there are many restaurants that are cheaper and also good. Ambience, old restaurant with this flair.

Nach einer gelungenen Informationsveranstaltung zum Bau eines Neuen Hochhauses neben dem Park Inn Hotel, wollte meine Tochter noch das alte Kloster besichtigen, nebst dem Rest der Berliner Stadtmauer. Den Tag wolten wir dann mit dem Besuch der historischen Gaststätte " Zur letzten Instanz " ausklingen lassen. Wir warteten geduldig am aufgestellten Schild- Bitte warten, Sie werden platziert-. Wir baten um vier Plätze. Leider alles besetzt, war die Antwort, obwohl noch zwei Tische frei waren. Diese waren auch nicht vorbestellt, wie wir festgestellt haben. Wir haben uns dort hingesetzt und wollten eine Bestellung aufgeben. Ein Mitarbeiter vom Bedienpersonal weigerte sich uns zubedienen und erklärte uns, er entscheidet hier wer bedient wird oder nicht und sei uns darüber keine Rechenschaft schuldig. Dieses Verhalten ist nicht zu dulden gegenüber den Gästen. Das ist das " Letzte ". Hiermit bitte ich das sich das Mengagement dieser Instution gedanken macht über die Einstellung eines qualifizierten Bedienpersonals. Hoffe, wenn ich das nächste Mal, vielleicht mit unserem Bürgermeister erscheine, dieser Mangel behoben ist und uns eine freundliche Bedienung uns empfängt.

Gerne wären wir zur Mittagszeit hier eingekehrt und wie gewünscht warteten wir, entsprechend dem Schild im Aussenbereich, dass wir einen Platz angewiesen bekommen. Es war schönes Wetter un die beiden Bedienungen hatten alle Zeit der Welt, um sich um die Gäste zu kümmern. Taten sie aber nicht. Sie wischten mal hier ein bisschen auf einem Tisch herum, trugen dort mal ein Glas weg und hatten kein Interesse sich um die inzwischen auf 8 Personen angewachsen Schlange wartenden Gäste zu kümmern. Nach ca 20 Minuten haben wir dann aufgegeben. Eine immer noch freundliche Nachfrage im Innenbereich wurde barsch mit dem Satz" Wenn es Ihnen hier nicht passt gehen Sie wo anders hin" kommentiert. Das ist nicht 'Berliner Schnautze', das ist unhöflich und wird nicht lange gut gehen. Schade um ein nettes Lokal!

What a nice place ! Friendly service, tasty meal (the mashed potatoes have a little something extra), magnificent place, it's worth the detour!

This location doesn't really need any advertising, top location in a historic building, great atmosphere, pleasantly clear menu with very good food, service also great.

There’s a few odd reviews about this restaurant so I booked with slight trepidation. However our experience was excellent. Staff were helpful and attentive, food was very good and the wine was lovely. For those commenting that the waiter asked them to remove their own water bottle from the table, that’s absolutely correct. You’re at a nice restaurant not a McDonald’s. Price wise I thought it absolutely fair, for those moaning it was too expensive, see the above comment.

Un petit restaurant qui ne paye pas de mine mais qui vaut le détour. C’est aussi un restaurant historique (1621) qui propose une cuisine traditionnelle de haute qualité Terrasse au calme et très agréable. Le staff était vraiment au petit soin ! Je recommande !

We visited this wonderful restaurant for my husbands birthday. The staff were warm and friendly and made us feel like regulars, the food was delicious with decent portions with some vegetarian options and we loved sitting outside dining under the trees. Highly recommend a visit and if you go, ask Christian to give you his rendition of Celin Dion’s ‘my heart will go on’ 👌🏻

My wife and I ate here in the past week and it was a very bad experience. My wife ordered pork knuckle and I selected the liver meal which was two or three 3mm thick slices of liver with a few small whole carrots with gravy. Because these were not balanced meals we ordered potatoes at extra cost for both of us. My wife stated the knuckle was excellent but my liver was undercooked /rare and I found it disgusting. My wife had soufflé with pear in a brown syrup sauce in a separate side dish. The soufflé was extremely salty and only one third of a whole small pear was provided. I had the apple strudel; this consisted of glazed pastry with a small undercooked apple cut in to two and laid on top of the pastry with no sauce, cream or custard provided. With the meal we had one small bottle of water and 2.1 litres of beer between the two of us. The combined final cost of our meals was 115.5 Euros without a tip. This was extremely poor value for money and I would not recommend you eat here.

In the middle of Berlin and yet so cool

Extremely rude, food is okay but nothing special.

We just wanted something to drink. There was a sign in front of the Freistz saying “You will be placed!” So we asked the waitress: Although the entire restaurant, including the outdoor seating area, was absolutely empty at around 11.45 a.m., we were told that nothing was free and that the places to eat had to remain free! This has nothing to do with hospitality! Apparently the operators no longer need it. Therefore NOT RECOMMENDED! Very unfortunate!

We had a 3 course meal. All courses were excellent, freshly prepared, very tasty and beautifully prepared. Tonight was a culinary experience! Service was attentive and very friendly! Really everything is very good! Thank you. I can recommend it with a clear conscience.

Cozy old eatery with good food, liver and greens, but expensive food. Accessories of mashed potatoes, had to be ordered extra. The dessert's strawberries were ok, but lay in something white (?) half warm. Nice and friendly service.

No more food will be served one hour before the end. Waitress visibly annoyed and therefore “friendly”. Unfortunately nothing can be said about the food. But based on experience, I wouldn't try it again!

In the Restaurant Zur Last Instance you will find typical German dishes excellently prepared. The Königsberger Klopse are highly recommended, the apple cake for dessert was a dream!! Be sure to reserve at least 2-3 weeks in advance.

A century-old building from 1644 and an old restaurant from 1692. Even Napoleon sat in the tile kiln at the entrance to dine in 1806. You must make a pilgrimage to a restaurant with such a history. The advantage of four people is that you can order different main dishes to share. Get four flavors! We chose the crispy pork trotters with red cabbage, the liver is soft and smooth, and the meatballs are also to our taste. Of course, beer is a must! Business is very good, remember to make a reservation

I was in the final instance last Wednesday - for the first and certainly last time. “Cold Wednesday” was the motto. I have no objection to cold food. However, the offer only consisted of a kind of cold plate for 26 (!) euros. It may be that it was worth the price; I didn't try it because I just wanted to eat a little something. When I asked if I could have a slice of bread with the beer, I was told “No”. A very strange location. The only good thing is the ambience - if you consider friendly service and a bit of flexibility. Conclusion: once and never again.

The food was really good(pork knuckle). Delicious and very crispy but the price is just absurd. The same meal at Kartoffelkiste (a german restaurant in Europa Center) would have costed me only 16 euros instead of 28! The quality would also be quite comparable. I don’t understand why there’s so little competition between German restaurants?

Top food, top ambience, lots of nice and friendly people would love to come back again. P.S I was there as a bus driver with a group of 36 people.

We arrived at 14.20 and the kitchen was already closed. They barely looked at us. The restaurant is opened from 12 to 15, but it seems the kitchen closes one hour earlier??

The place is nice and the food is good. The main drawback is the attitude of the guy who is serving, he's sarcastic and disrespectful if you are a foreigner. Such a shame because the place is beautiful.

One of the oldest restaurants in Berlin, but the food is definitely modern, balanced, and delicious. The service was on point. Beers from the tap were refreshing. First time I had SpreeWasser - beer with lemonade! The pickled vegetables, stuffed cabbage, meatballs, and pork knuckle were all a big hit! Recommended.

It was OK, I wouldn't go back though unfortunately. It's one of those places you try once. White Asparagus were good and the white Asparagus soup was also good, wished it had less salt. Meatballs my boyfriend had had too much salt and it was disappointing. Apple strudel wasn't apple strudel, it was more a Danish, they probably forgot about it in the oven because the edges of my Danish was bitter caramel.

Very good restaurant with regional dishes. The menu is very clear, but very diverse. The meal took a while, but it really tasted fantastic. But I have to give one star to the ambience because it was very cold in the dining room and some of our group had to put their jackets back on.

We don't eat meat, so it was a bad choice. And even though we made a reservation 2 days in advance, they put us at a bad table. But the service was friendly.

Well, I really enjoy eating pork knuckle and I like to try other restaurants, but I was really disappointed here. The knuckle was more of a mini knuckle and for the outrageous price of over 28 euros. The taste was also rather dry. The crust was way too hard. Good knuckles have a crispy, yet light crust. The side dishes were also rather poor and mediocre. Puree and red cabbage don't really work for such a dish either. Either dumplings, like the Bavarians, or potatoes with sauerkraut. Classic. Would never go there again. The price alone is almost 10 euros more expensive than anywhere else in Berlin. And there you also get a really big knuckle, as it should actually be. Conclusion. Very disappointing. In terms of taste, price and portion. Price-performance ratio completely wrong.

Great restaurant with very good traditional German/Berlin cuisine. The dishes were top and the service/ambience was perfect. But you should definitely make a reservation during the week.

I'm Irish, went here for dinner the second night of my trip, food was amazing, extremely flavourful. I had the cabbage roll with pork belly and my two friends had the meatballs and onion tart, all meals were delicious, and desert while a little expensive was the cherry on top.

Got a table for 4 on Saturday evening without a reservation, great! Food was great, small star deduction because of noise level...

Nice shop with an interesting menu and a great team. Wow, just really good food.

The oldest pub in Berlin…still good…

A cozy restaurant, with typical German cuisine, I dined on a knuckle that may be the most delicious I have ever eaten in my life with baked potatoes and served on a bed of red cabbage cooked sauerkraut style, the knuckle had the particularity of having a very crunchy skin and looked like a torrezno. The sensation of eating the gelatinous meat that almost fell apart with the crispy crust seemed like a 10 to me. Very delicious. We ordered 2 desserts and I didn't like the cheese one, it seemed more like an appetizer than a dessert, a little salty for me, I liked it, however the apple one with ice cream was delicious.

Very dark place that we had to turn on the cell phone lights to eat and see something. Very hot environment because the heating could not be turned off and we remained the whole time with the window open behind us to mitigate the temperature. The girl was courteous in serving while the other employee was very rude. They didn't allow us to pay the single fee with credit cards because they didn't want to waste too much time on this operation and they didn't accept Amex as a card. I advise against it. There is much more in Berlin.

It was 8.50pm tonight. I asked the waitress if I could sit (I was alone). She asked the cook, who nervously told her that the kitchen was already closed. (On Mondays the restaurant closes at 11pm). They didn't even apologize to me. I will never go back! I also don't recommend it as it's incredibly hot inside. I hadn't even entered and I was already sweating. Terrible venue!

Visited early evening, staff very helpful. I had the Königsberger Klopse (meatballs in cream sauce) which was very good, I was talked into having the apple pie, which again was excellent. I would recommend this place, a bit tucked out of the way, but only a short walk from Klosterstraße Underground Station

Great ambience, you can dream back to 1910. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio is not right. Meatballs with (one) caper for €21 or beef liver with mashed potatoes + 1 carrot for €29, neither of which fills you up.

We waited for an hour today and still couldn't get seated. I look forward to coming back next time...

Ich bin müde, ich möchte im Hotel abendessen, aber das Restaurant ist geschlossen. Ich vertraue auf Glück und es ist gut gelaufen! Es ist eine alte Trattoria, nur einen Steinwurf vom Alexanderplatz entfernt, die von zwei dynamischen jungen Leuten geführt wird. Zwiebelkuchen, knusprig und lecker. Trio aus Fisch und Gemüse, zwischen scharf und süß, begleitet von gutem altem Brot aus der Vergangenheit. Schade, nachtisch hat kein ecke in Magen gefunden... Der Raum erinnert an das Stereotyp von Wirtshäusern im Kalten Krieg, in denen Spione den letzten Drink des Abends genossen: Dieser poetische Satz wurde vom Berliner Kindl gestiftet...

Site in the center of Berlin. Very welcoming, we ordered meatballs, knuckle, risotto, breads and mountains of cheese. Everything is super good, the menu is not very extensive. Yes, it is a bit expensive. But it's worth it.

I came here with ambivalent feelings, given the mixed reviews. But! Everything is great, atmosphere, food, service. Calf liver is a brain explosion! Excellent meatballs and dessert. Super! The only negative is the smell from the toilet.

Questo ristorante pare sia il più antico di berlino e si sia fermato persino Napoleone. In ogni caso è un ottimo ristorante sotto tutti gli aspetti: l'ambiente è molto caratteristico e accogliente, il personale (qualcuno parla anche italiano) è molto gentile, il menù non è ricchissimo ma la qualità del cibo è molto buona Il prezzo nella norma Noi ci siamo tornati 3 volte in una settimana

The price-performance ratio is poor. Side dishes such as fried potatoes or mashed potatoes are charged extra to the already expensive main courses. However, the taste and ambience are consistent. Friendly service.
