Sony Center am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin

Symbolic square of 19th century Berlin, it is now that of the new unified Berlin. An imposing covered structure that creates a square within the square, more intimate and pedestrian than the external one, very busy and marked by the three symbolic skyscrapers that distinguish it

Seems deserted, not too many shops open anymore?

Yes, very interesting and beautiful

Should be a nice place with a cinema, restaurants etc. But for years there has been less and less what is on offer there. In addition, there are permanent construction sites, which make the whole thing even less attractive. The cinema is also gone. It's a shame actually. However, the Lindenbräu restaurant there is really worth a visit.

Very disappointed, there's not much left inside, the Sony Center is closed, Alex no longer exists... Apart from the architecture, I won't be returning to this place.

The architecture is beautiful, there is public seating, the space is nicely designed. But otherwise there isn't much going on there, apart from a large construction site. Doesn't invite you to linger.

After the complete renovation you have to look further...

Der "Oftessengeher" meint: Hat mich nicht abgeholt Das Ambiente ist sehr nett. Der Restaurantleiter war sehr aufmerksam, hat sich Zeit zum Erklären genommen und war sehr freundlich. Als Vorspeise Käsebällchen und Tatar: Die gebackenen Käsebällchen waren geschmacklich gut. Das fertig angemachte Tatar war mir zu säuerlich. Das Fleisch hatte dadurch keinen Eigengeschmack mehr. Als Hauptgericht Kabeljau und Schwein-Strindberg: Beide Hauptgerichte und die Beilagen waren leider nur lauwarm. Geschmacklich waren sie in Ordnung, aber eben auch nicht die Geschmacksexplosion, die man sich in einem Restaurant dieser Preisklasse erhoffen darf. Fazit: Es fehlte uns der "wow-Effekt".

POTS es uno de los restaurantes ubicados en el Ritz de Berlín. En términos de restaurantes de hotel, es bastante agradable. El menú es diverso. Tenía el sándwich del club que estaba bien. Un poco de un desafío conseguir el cheque al final de la comida.

There is currently something covered in scaffolding. The energy in this place is not nice. I like being at Potsdamer Platz but not in this area. There are much nicer places in Berlin.

It is being renovated but is worth a visit

A wonderful spot in the center of Mitte. Great restaurants and shopping and so close to so many iconic sights in the center of town.

Seen from the air, the (former SONY) Center at Potsdamer Platz is one of the most striking fixtures in Berlin's city center due to its impressive roof structure. However, the center currently doesn't have that much to offer. 25 years after it opened, it is undergoing its first modernization. The Museum for Film and Television that was formerly located here has closed its doors (moved to the E-Werk), but there are still a lot of offices here (mainly from companies related to the film business and of course Deutsche Bahn), a few restaurants and the Lego Discovery Center . Of course, the architecture and the integration of the remains of the facade of the former Hotel Esplanade directly behind the railway tower remain interesting.

The small Christmas market inside the center was quite nice.

The more renovations take place, the more impersonal the place becomes. How a revival can take place here is a mystery to me. The roof will not be enough as the only eye-catcher. First the arcades are messed up, now the Sony Center follows. The entire Potsdamer Platz has lost its former appeal.

Very interesting and inspiring. The coupon is fascinating. Inside there are benches for relaxation and a cafe. Located next to the metro and the square.

It has lost some of the shine of the Sony Center but the roof construction is still worth seeing. When the construction work is finished it will be even more beautiful

Could have been much better ...

Despite the renovations, you can stay there.

Parking garage cheap and easily accessible. Directly at Potsdamer Platz train station. Highly recommended.

As a Berliner, I never feel comfortable there and avoid this area. For me it's at best a point of failure. Anonymous, concrete in an ugly shape. Has nothing to do with Berlin, could be anywhere.

Visited the film museum, it was very interesting and informative. It's a shame that the doors are now closing. But the visit here was worth it!

The Sony Center is always worth a visit. However, the whole thing is currently being disrupted by a construction site. The food and service in the brewery are very good. Incredible and worth seeing what the waiters serve on huge tablets.

What a change. Wait and see what happens when everything is finished. In any case, the food court is an enrichment.

What more could you want, it's just cool there

A break in the rain after many runs was a relief

Nice place to stay with good restaurants (Lindenbräu, Monte Mente etc.)

Too bad a huge construction site inside, how long ????. I still know it in great lighting and light decorations.

I was there in the evening and there was a little light show.

Even after the renovation, it's not for everyone. But suitable for a stroll through. The large Manifesto restaurant is a matter of taste. Too touristy atmosphere and food.

The concept probably didn't work. I've been here several times on trips to Berlin, but now the vacancy and construction work are clearly clouding the impression. The huge bike station was also scary, with not a single bike in it. I know from locals that people only come here to change trains. The city planning has somehow failed: busy is different.

The center is in a deplorable condition. It's no longer called "Sony", most of the shops are gone, the cinema has been gutted for years, and the cinema library closes at the end of October. Then all the attractions are gone except for the one shop and a few restaurants. The fountain in the rental is gone, there are now a few fountains built into the pavement. Direct access from the train station no longer exists. There's nothing left to see. Too bad. 30 years after the dazzling opening, all that remains is a miserable imitation on both sides of Potsdamer Straße. And in between the former “Boulevard of the Stars”, without words.

Unfortunately, a large, loud, construction site

The whole thing used to be called the Sony Center and was worth a trip, but now it's just a construction site. The cinema where there used to be all the previews is also being renovated.

Will the elevator to the underground car park be repaired at some point?

Interesting place. Roof over buildings. I don't know where the teddy bear is, I haven't found it. I was there at the restaurant. And the food was quite good, I recommend it. The downside was the construction noise, but that wasn't their fault.

A very interesting architectural building.

A large construction site. Many, many restaurants and shops are closed. What was once an impressively lively place still impresses with its roof construction. There's hardly anything going on here anymore, just a few tourist bars. It's a shame about the beautiful location.

There is not bad but only a building

An amazing place, I returned after six years and the quality of the service and food was exactly the same; all great. They served sausages with fries for kids what made my lunch even more enjoyable

Ein erlebnisreicher Abend im Restaurant Pots im Ritz Charlton , mit einem hervorragenden Service und einer famosen Küchencrew!

Nos alojamos en el Ritz Carlton adjunto, así que vinimos aquí para la cena y dos desayunos y el servicio era horrible. Primero la cena. Nos sentamos afuera y cuando el sol se puso nos cegó a todos. Un lado de la mesa tenía el sol directamente en sus ojos y el otro lado de la mesa tenía el sol reflejado en una pared de vidrio que los cegaba. Pedimos que ajustaran los paraguas pero dijeron que no podían (no giran). Eso en sí mismo habría arruinado la comida. Además nos llegó una camarera hostil (gordita , joven, de pelo oscuro) que hacía parecer que estaba muy molesta por tener que trabajar. Apenas se presentó a la mesa e hizo todo lo posible por no servir. La comida era cara, para nada memorable y en porciones muy pequeñas. Vinimos por dos desayunos desagradables. La última mañana que vinimos a desayunar tuvimos exactamente la misma camarera hostil de nuevo. Esta vez se aseguró de que casi ninguno de los pedidos llegara, que mi hijo recibiera su tortilla después de que todos hubiéramos terminado, que todo fuera incorrecto y que fuéramos miserables. El restaurante necesita despedir a su personal y contratar personal amable de habla inglesa que entienda que están en una industria de servicios. La comida en el desayuno era mala. Huevos sin sabor, tocino mal cocido, pan sin gluten, etc. Necesitan hacerlo mejor.

Interesting Lego exhibition in the center

In the modern part of Berlin, where the dividing wall between East and West once passed, 19th century architects created a whole surprising district with a sort of super gallery in the shape of a volcano. There are restaurants and art galleries there.

Esta fue una experiencia realmente fantástica, la comida es increíble, el personal es súper agradable y divertido, los maridajes de vinos fueron perfectamente seleccionados, y sentarse al lado de la cocina para ver la comida que se preparaba era parte de la experiencia. Mi novia y yo tuvimos la noche de cita perfecta, y solo podemos recomendar.

Wir waren im Hotel und haben mehrmals vor Ort gegessen. Das Frühstücks-Buffet war der Wahnsinn!! Auch die saisonalen Spargelgerichte zu Mittag waren Super!

Das war mal wieder ein Abend wie er sein muss. Perfekter Service und eine hervorragende Küche. Traditionelle Gerichte neu und meisterlich interpretiert. Großes Kino! Preis Leistung passt hier wirklich. Gerne wieder!
