Zur alten Post in Taunusstein

I recently spontaneously visited the Alte Post after a hike with a friend: Such a traditional restaurant was exactly what I was looking for in this situation – unfortunately, there aren't many of them anymore. (Comparable is the "Jägerheim" in Bad Schwalbach.) We were greeted at the door first by the owner's friendly dog, who roamed the dining room the whole time, then by the extremely friendly and welcoming Polish proprietor himself. There was no service that day; the waitress was ill, the proprietor is disabled, and we had to pick up our order at the counter. No problem, I'm happy to forgive the nice old man. There was no menu: As I later discovered, there's a significantly outdated one online with prices that are no longer in line with today's standards; the owner hasn't had a current one printed yet. So we had to order based on verbal information, without knowing the prices. My vegetarian friend asked for something meatless and got French fries with hunter's sauce (surely from a packet) and salad. I had a paprika schnitzel and a large pilsner. The schnitzel was at least freshly pounded (you could hear the banging from the kitchen), but it was apparently cooked cheaply in a deep fryer. The paprika sauce was, of course, a rather sugary, ready-made product, the French fries were factory-made, and the iceberg lettuce with cucumber and tomato was also topped with ready-made dressing – at least it was finished with fresh dill. The portions were large, and we were full – which fulfilled the main purpose of the visit. The unpleasant surprise came when paying: the proprietor charged me €24.50 for the schnitzel and a beer. This is a rip-off: €20 for a schnitzel with ready-made sauce and industrial fries (and with self-service) is significantly higher than the regional standard. So, the verdict is mixed: The friendly proprietor and his friendly dog ​​were worth the visit. The lack of a menu was annoying, and the value for money was inadequate.

We went there for a birthday celebration with 15 people, and it was one of the best evenings we've ever had. The owner even joined us and celebrated with us. We'd love to come back again :)) Thanks for the wonderful evening! P.S.: The food was fantastic!

A very nice, old-style restaurant. The hosts are very friendly and always welcoming. If you love good, hearty food, then this is the place for you. It's also a great place for an after-work beer to round off the day with friends and good company.

Extrem rustikal und urig. Leider wird hier geraucht. Zum Essen also besser in den Nebenraum ausweichen. Der Wirt ist nett, das Essen solide.

Das Essen war 6/5, Das Bier 5/5 und das Zimmer 5/5. Empfehlenswert

Nette kleine Pension. Sauber, günstig und zentral gelegen. Bäckerei, Supermarkt, Bank, Apotheke etc. alles fußläufig erreichbar. Man kann kostenfrei gleich in der angrenzenden Straße parken. Die Zimmer sind sauber und haben einen Flat-TV, ein eigenes Badezimmer und man kann kostenfrei das WLAN nutzen.

Lecker Essen und super Bier in urige Atmosphäre

Ich war dort nur zum Essen und nicht zur Übernachtung. Das Ambiente ist rustikal bis urig-gemütlich, die Toiletten sind älter aber sauber. Das Essen war zwischen gut (tolle Zwiebelsuppe) bis Okay (großer aber unspektakulärer italienischer Salat) angesiedelt. Es gibt ein wechselndes Mittagsgericht zu einem Angebotspreis, das habe ich aber nicht probiert. Der Besitzer war sehr freundlich und hatte auch einen goldigen Hund der in friedlich in einer Ecke saß.

Super gutes Essen. Die Einrichtung ist sehr einfach aber die Gemütlichkeit und das phantastische Essen für einen super Preis genial.

Sehr schön. Gutbürgerliche Kneipe. Alkoholfreies Weizenbier kalt und gut. Essen reichlich und gut abgeschmeckt. Freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Wer ein einfaches, gut gemachtes Schnitzel mit Pommes Frites in einer angenehmen Kneipenatmosphäre essen möchte ist in der alten Post genau richtig. Einfaches, gutes Essen - nette Bedienung - fairer Preis. Raucher- und Nichtraucherbereich!!!

You may want to minus for smoking at the bar table, although the doses come to the table then smoking fails. Smoke dropped one point. You should try the restaurant!

Super saubere Zimmer und netter Service. Kühlschrank und Mikrowelle vorhanden falls man nichts bestellen möchte.

Super!! Das Restaurant hat super leckeres Essen und die Zimmer sind einfach Super! War eine Woche dort und es hat mir einfach unglaublich gefallen, komme bestimmt bald wieder :)
