I have been there several times and the food is very good and tasty and the service is always friendly

We visited the Tannenburg again after a long wait and, after a short wait, got a table for two. The food was – as always – excellent. Unfortunately, the service from the young staff currently leaves much to be desired. Although the employees seem to be trying hard, there is a noticeable lack of genuine passion for service. It took an unusually long time for us to place our food and drink orders. Some of my questions had to be repeated – which wasn't due to the ambient noise – and some answers were rather laconic. An example of what I didn't like: I ordered a dish with garlic mayonnaise, and my brother ordered a dish with fries. When he asked for mayonnaise for his fries, the waiter promised to bring some – but then he said my brother could simply use my mayonnaise, which was similar. I found that inappropriate. Such decisions should be left to the guest and not made or suggested over their heads. We hope that the young service team will make a slightly better impression on our next visit.

I can recommend it with a clear conscience. The food was very good and the service was polite and friendly, but the drinks could have been a bit quicker.

We've been here several times and have always been satisfied. The food was good, if not of the highest quality. Today, however, things were completely different. It started with all five Cokes and Spezis we ordered being non-carbonated and not tasting like Coca-Cola as usual. Upon inquiry, the manager personally came and explained that he no longer uses American products because of Donald Trump. No Coca-Cola, no Heinz ketchup, etc. You can certainly do that, but then you should also communicate this to your guests and not list the wrong prices on your website and offer "Fanta," which, as we all know, also comes from Coca-Cola. Of course, you can also use good German products. Afri-Cola, Fritz-Cola, or Paulaner Spezi, for example. But Freeway Cola from Lidl in the 1.5-liter PET bottle doesn't work in the restaurant. And certainly not in Coca-Cola or Afri-Cola glasses. I truly felt cheated. And if you're going to serve pepper and salt from Lidl or Rewe (yes!), at least refill it. Then it won't seem so cheap. The food is still of a good standard, even if they really need to work on the sauces. I'm no expert, but these seem to be convenience foods or pre-mixed products. For a schnitzel for €20.50 (why does the website list net prices?! That can confuse people / anyone who thinks otherwise is a scoundrel), you can expect fresh mushrooms and sauce. The dressing on the side salad is also too thick. Some of the tomatoes, in particular, were quite dark and tasteless. I drove home today with mixed feelings. More expensive and worse than usual. That's not right. We'd like to come back, but that will depend on whether anything changes. In my opinion, the direction they're taking is the wrong one.

Absolutely recommendable, the food is very good, fresh and plentiful, I don't even know when I've had such a hot meal other than at home, the staff is very friendly and quick, the prices are top, so in my opinion the price-performance ratio is exceeded, you feel comfortable here, the ambience is an experience for my taste, everything is comfortably designed in an old villa

This restaurant is an institution in Taunusstein. For as long as I can remember you can get schnitzels, steaks, salads and tons of delicious fries here. It's always great how friendly you are greeted here. And because it's divided into different rooms, you feel more like you're staying with friends than sitting in a restaurant.

Super tasty food and good service.

How is it possible to gather all the good things together in one place? The taste of the food was incredible — each dish better than the last! The French fries weren’t precooked; they were handmade from real potatoes and freshly fried. The champignon sauce had an amazing buttery aroma that made it even more special. The lamb hex was the dish of the day — perfectly cooked and served with a delicious sauce. The portion sizes were really big, and considering the quality, the prices were very fair. The atmosphere was also fantastic — I loved the charm of the old house, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I truly enjoyed my time and my meal there. Thank you!

It may be that other rooms are better, we sat somewhere in the back where the carpet is held together with adhesive tape, there are cables and wires hanging from the walls, there is nothing more to say about my reservation with a nice table for the birthday child.

Found by chance. Really big portions, super tasty. The ambience is very nice, pleasant atmosphere. The service is also excellent and courteous. This was my third time there and I was always satisfied.

The bar at the entrance is impressive and promises cosiness. Our highlight is of course the boss! There is no adjective for it yet... he is an institution! 🫶 We were always served kindly and kindly at the table and they always tried to make sure everything was going well during our stay. The kitchen offers seasonal and regional dishes and no one goes home hungry. The portions are large and the price-performance ratio is good. Waiting 1/2 hour for a reserved table is not possible. Stale warm drinks. Service that has no plan. The quality of the food is not good.

After we were back in the Tannenburg after 30 years (we found out on the internet that it was still the same operators), we were satisfied with the food, the schnitzels were the same as they were 30 years ago, but the whole thing is getting quite old, and the intense smell of toilets in the entrance area isn't exactly inviting either. But no matter, we had our retro moment and wish you good years in the Tannenburg!

I had the beef tartare. I know beef tartare differently fillet through the meat grinder or chopped. Was very disappointed, it was just ground beef, but 100% not fillet. It was too bright, too solid for that. I know it very well because I eat it often. It's a shame, it's better to take a little more euros, but that's the right thing. I'm sorry for my opinion.

When we entered the restaurant there was a terrible smell of feces. When I went to the toilet I got a shock. It smelled so bad, there was obviously used toilet paper on the floor, it was dirty and there were cobwebs hanging all over the room. There was a “threatening letter” hanging over the sink that was supposed to curse all dirty people. Although the food was really good, this condition made me question the hygiene...

A simple restaurant with a delicious menu ! The service is premium. The owner was kind attending personally the customers. The portions are enough to enjoy a good meal. Congratulations. Visited on January 24,2025 for second time.

I can only recommend the Tannenburg. It has indeed changed over the course of this year for 40 years A lot has changed when I visit local, but I am and will remain a fan. The service would like to make more of an effort

We have been here many times and are thrilled every time! The schnitzels are simply to die for, and each of us was full and happy, as always. The desserts are great too. The service is always friendly and quick. You should definitely make a reservation on the weekend as it is very popular. Absolutely recommended!

For me it's been the best restaurant I've known for years. Never had anything to complain about here. The food is simply fantastic and the atmosphere, especially inside, is extremely quaint and cozy. We're happy to take a 45-minute drive there. Unfortunately you can't give 6 stars.

Beautiful 🤩 We had mussels with cream sauce for dinner. There was also warm crusty bread that we used to absorb the sauce. The food was delicious 🤤 The service was very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our space in the winter garden. We'll definitely be back 🙋‍♂️

We came here because of the good reviews, but unfortunately the restaurant didn't live up to our expectations. The young staff tries hard, but unfortunately you can't speak of passion for service here. To eat: Both the salad dressing and the cream sauce on the tortellini were very peppery. The consistency of the sauce was more like a soup. My steak was served medium well instead of medium rare - shame about the meat. But here I would like to emphasize the size of the steak. The Champion cream sauce was inedible, so it stayed in the gravy boat. The toilets were dirty, partly broken and almost historic - I felt like I had been transported back in time by several decades.

The toilet doesn't work at all! For €35 steak you have to be able to go to the toilet.

Had a great meal with 6 people. There are many smaller rooms, so it is very cozy. The portions are very large. But it's no problem to take the leftovers with you.

This restaurant. So. Where do we start? I've been coming to Tannenburg for what feels like 30 years now. Hans and Peter weren't there today. But everything was as usual. What's wrong with this place? I haven't been here for 10 years and everything(!) is as usual. Hans and Peter must be incredibly focused entrepreneurs. Many greetings from Cologne!

The service was super friendly, but now the big thing... The food was okay so far, but quite expensive for what was probably a frozen schnitzel. Unfortunately, my fiancée's minced steak was burnt on the top and was only partially edible. The toilets are extremely unpleasant, the toilet paper stuck to the floor was unfortunately also out and the impression was anything but clean. As I said, it's just my impression. All in all, it needs to be renovated... Old is good, but I think it also needs to be clean...

Service was nice and attentive. The food was unfortunately standard and really nothing special. I don't want to say that the sauces come from buckets because I don't know, but that's how it tastes. Unfortunately we won't come back again due to the unconvincing quality.

This restaurant is truly world class!! You can't tell from the outside of the house, but the food is super tasty and a lot, almost comparable to an XXL restaurant but for a lot less money. You really have to be here. I have never eaten such a delicious schnitzel. Highly recommended.

When I look at the photo of the schnitzels, I have to admit that the time when breadcrumbs are used for breading is not yet over. How something like that can still be described as good is a highlight. Take off the breading and what's left. Parade! The owner of 300g of pure meat writes reconsiders my review, thank you. Die vielen guten Bewertungen können wir leider nicht nachvollziehen. Positiv war: eine sehr aufmerksame Bedienung, die unserem Hund sofort Wasser in der Schale hin stellte. Insgesamt war die Bedienung sehr höflich, sehr schnell und sehr, sehr zuvorkommend. Allerdings kommt man üblicherweise in ein Restaurant nicht wegen der Bedienungen, sondern wegen des Essens. Das Essen fanden wir, wir hatten das Mittags Menü genommen, als maximal mittelmäßig. Die Sauce kam aus der Tüte, die Knödel waren gummiartig und die riesigen Fleischbrocken vom Wild waren zum einen viel zu groß, zum anderen sehr zäh. Üblicherweise hat Wild einen Eigengeschmack, diesen konnte man aber nicht feststellen, da ihn die Sauce völlig ersoffen hat. Insgesamt macht die Gaststätte einen ziemlich heruntergekommenen Eindruck. Wir haben nichts gegen alt. Wir haben nichts gegen antik. Aber Löcher im Teppich mit hoch stehenden Kanten, das geht gar nicht. Auch die Tische standen dermaßen dicht, dass man beim Weggehen die anderen Gäste bitten musste, aufzustehen. Und nein, wir sind nicht fett. Wir sind beide schlank.

Four of us ate here and the dishes were really good! I ordered the bi-schnitzel with pepper cream and mushroom sauce, A1!!! My wife had the large salad and it was very good too! Good service staff, the guys had everything in view, so we were never left high and dry! Salad with the schnitzel was also great. Conclusion: we'll be back!

...unfortunately the steaks are much smaller than they used to be, as are the portions of fries...but like everywhere else...the prices have risen sharply!!!

Best schnitzel in the region. Loving, funny owner with friendly staff. Big portion. Reservation recommended. Parking is limited, the street is sometimes blocked, but there are enough parking spaces within 300m. Come here regularly and enjoy.

Best schnitzel in the Republic. It's clear that if you go to the Schnitzelburg, the owner can try to sell his other dishes to the "man", only schnitzel is ordered ;-)

Restaurant in an old villa. The staff is consistently very friendly and incredibly capable. Had savoy cabbage with boiled potatoes and meatballs. Was super tasty. The waiting time was a little longer (on a Sunday evening) at just under an hour. But it was definitely worth it.

Simply very good. If you're looking for very generously sized meals, this is the place for you. And the quality is perfect! Only recommended!

As always delicious and great service

We had dinner there with friends yesterday. Service very friendly and accommodating. Food was good too. Only the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. A lot of dust and dirt. Radiator full of food residue and stains. Our table was right next to a heater. It wasn't nice to see. Toilet's absolutely dirty. A lot of staff and there was hardly anything going on. Maybe you should hire a cleaner. You also sit very tightly there. Outdoor facilities very unkempt and simply run down.

This was our absolute favorite restaurant when we lived in Germany. The Schnitzel is out of this world. Praying for the day when we can get back to experience it again.

Our family has been coming together here on various occasions for decades. We simply love the Tannenburg. The quality is always great, the best salads, schnitzels (the cream sauce is simply a dream!) and minced steaks are far away. Even if it is sometimes very crowded and can take a long time, it is always worth it for the food. The staff is consistently nice - although their level of service varies.

The onion schnitzel at Haus Tannenburg is simply excellent! Juicy schnitzel and perfectly caramelized onions make this dish a real treat. But that's not all: the price-performance ratio here is really unbeatable. Generous portions at fair prices ensure that you get your money's worth not only culinary but also financially. Service friendly, food of sufficient quality. The overall atmosphere is rather traditional. The toilets put me off. Not only old - that wouldn't be a bad thing - but from my understanding it's not really clean either. I wouldn't go to the restaurant again.

Very good food and very friendly service. Good portions. We were all really full and some of us were even able to take something home with us. The atmosphere is very nice and rustic. However, when it's warm and crowded, it's a bit stuffy. Otherwise there is absolutely nothing to complain about. We'll definitely be back.

Went there last night with a reservation with 3 people. Drinks came to the table quickly and we didn't wait long for our food either. Two schnitzels, one rump steak. The schnitzels are really big and super tasty. The steak was really great. Always my pleasure.

We have been living in Taunusstein for a long time and have never managed to eat at Tannenburg because we never made reservations early enough. This year we finally did it and it was a great experience. The food was super tasty and fresh. The service was very attentive. All in all it was a great evening with a fair price-performance ratio. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant but you really have to make a reservation early.

Quaint, rustic restaurant, in summer there is also a beer garden. Parking spaces in front of and next to the restaurant, a bit rustic but certainly sufficient. The menu is “home-style”, relatively many dishes with pork. During our visit there was a daily menu with, among other things, asparagus dishes. The portions were generous and all 4 eaters were very happy with the food. The service was friendly and efficient, and the wait for our food was absolutely fine, even though it was very busy.

Went there on Friday evening and as always it was delicious. The atmosphere and service are always quick and friendly.

I've known about Haus Tannenburg from stories told by others for at least 30 years, and yesterday we finally made it here too. What a great experience. A simply rustic house with a lot of charm in the guest rooms, a young, motivated and super friendly team, a wonderfully down-to-earth boss and that's exactly how the kitchen is. Not only that the portions are large. So really big. But most of all it's just super delicious! Rump steak, 500 gr. (!), great quality, perfect cooking point (medium was desired), herb butter and onions mega. Schnitzel: great, pork steak too, garlic spaghetti was also great and I was particularly happy about the shrimp cocktail with butter toast, which is rarely available anymore. Needless to say how good it was. Absolutely fair price-performance ratio, affordable in terms of portion size, quality and taste. The next time is already planned. As I was walking out I saw a great portion of asparagus. I have to have it too...😊 Thank you for the great evening with you!

The place was quite cozy, but the tables were a bit cramped... when the guests at the neighboring table had left, a young employee sprayed the table with a cleaning bottle and the spray mist wafted over our delicious food and into our noses. A short time later it happened again two tables away, even though people were still eating at the next table... that shouldn't actually happen; You can also wipe tables with a damp cloth...

We had dinner with 8 people on April 5th, 2024. We came to Taunusstein especially from the Kassel district. Solid service, friendly staff, delicious food and drinks prices good. Good selection of dishes, typical South Hesse dishes are also available. The restaurant is located in the middle of the forest in an old villa. We'd love to come back. Thanks

Very tasty schnitzel. Good portion. Coleslaw was appropriate. Fries were nice and crispy. Staff was friendly and there quickly. A nice atmosphere. Reservation not necessary. Space is available. There aren't that many parking spaces available.

I was completely satisfied. Schnitzel was delicious and the price was right for the size. Staff was very quick and friendly. Ambience is also made pleasant. We got a table easily even without a reservation.
