Average but very Classic bar Restaurant Like in the 20s or so.

Hey guys, decide for yourselves. I've been working away from home for 40 years now, in a different city almost every day. But I've never experienced such a rip-off. One day, when Maultaschen (a type of German filled pasta) were on the menu, I treated myself to a huge schnitzel that practically fell off its breading onto the plate, along with a handful of tasteless fries, a bland side salad with flavorless dressing, and two dark beers for a whopping €37. Any chip shop in the area could do better. In my opinion, this is a rip-off on a whole new level. I could just throw up at the sheer audacity of it. But decide for yourselves.

My favorite restaurant for lunch. Prices range from inexpensive to a bit pricey, but you get delicious, beautifully presented food. The waiters and waitresses are consistently friendly and attentive. When the weather is nice, it's wonderful to sit outside in the old town square. Inside, it's a bit more rustic but cozy.

One of my favorite places to stop for a bite to eat in Ettlingen and one of my regular haunts 💓 Beautifully situated in the heart of Ettlingen's idyllic old town, with outdoor seating overlooking the castle and the city center. In summer, there's nothing better than sitting here, relaxing, watching the hustle and bustle, and finding some peace and quiet yourself. The location couldn't be better. The interior is also lovely and cozy. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Whether it's families with children, larger groups, friends, or couples, everyone will find a spot here. The food is predominantly typical Baden cuisine and truly delicious 👏😍 There's something for everyone. The staff are all incredibly friendly. For me and most Ettlingen residents, you will always remain a daily fixture in our hearts 🥰😉 (For those not from Ettlingen, as it was previously called). Keep up the charming Baden charm, I'm already looking forward to my next visit 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😊

The drinks were brought to our table quickly. We waited almost an hour for our food and were served ready-made spaetzle, unseasoned and not at all good. The schnitzel was also unseasoned, and the breading was soggy. The service was good. When we asked about the long wait and the quality of the food, we were offered coffee or schnapps, but we declined.

As a vegan, you know you don't have much choice in conventional restaurants. However, when you have to make your own salad dressing because they serve you vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper, it's a real joke, especially when the salad costs €10.50. It consisted almost entirely of lettuce. I don't want to leave out the four slices of cucumber and tomato. The rest of the meal was okay, although the cheese spaetzle wasn't exactly amazing either. The service was the best.

Unfortunately, that wasn't good at all. We had the potato soup, which was good!, but somehow not very much. Served in pasta bowls, while other guests were served soup in soup bowls?! The schnitzel and spaetzle are ready meals and overpriced. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Today was our first and last time at Sternen. Long wait, wrong food and wrong drink. Spätzle and schnitzel, as well as apple strudel and vanilla sauce, were all ready-made meals. Not worth the money. Not recommended.

A great atmosphere, unfortunately I didn't eat there, so I can't comment. Friendly staff.

Food from a packet. It was terrible. The spaetzle and schnitzel were ready-made products. I asked about it. Later, I got severe stomach pains. The purchased ready-made meal, including drinks, cost almost 90 euros for one adult and two children. I'll never go there again. The service was nice. It was quick. Overall, though, it was a disaster.

We ordered Maultaschen (swabian ravioli) and waited for over 40 minutes. We finally left without getting anything. The service was friendly, but the kitchen, unfortunately, was very poor.

The food was great. (Flammkuchen and Käseschpezle) The service was friendly, attentive, and some had poor hearing. All in all, we will be back and would happily recommend this place.

Unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time for our bruschetta. It must have been forgotten in the kitchen?! It's a shame that tomatoes from a can or carton were used for this Italian dish.

Very good bistro. The prices are a little expensive. But it's a well-located bistro in the city center.

Yesterday, we went outside for a drink and a tarte flambée. The tarte flambée didn't arrive until 50 minutes later, after a reminder, which revealed that it hadn't been booked. Finally, it arrived twice, but not in the desired order. At the next table, a similar mess: Strasbourg without cheese. Service needs improvement.

The food was very tasty and the drinks came pretty quickly.

The food was cold. The wine order was forgotten...! The food was delivered warm, but it was delayed. The wine still couldn't be ordered...

Dear Sternen Team, We (four girls) ate here on August 9, 2025, after the health fair. The terrace was completely full in this amazing weather ☀️ The waitress, Lena, was so accommodating and incredibly kind to us that we were welcome to wait under the tree, and as soon as a table becomes available, she'll let us know immediately...while she'll bring us something refreshing to drink✨ It was a wonderful evening for us, and we'd like to tell the boss that he has a very valuable person on his team in Lena, who gave us a wonderful evening 😍 The food was also incredibly delicious...we can wholeheartedly recommend it. We waited a long time for the lentil soup, and at some point we were told they were all gone. The selection was very limited, so we ended up with red and white fries for 14 DM. Unfortunately, the fries tasted like fish, as they were obviously fried in the same oil. Unfortunately, the fries were also cold. I definitely won't be eating there again.

Five of us ate there today. The service "needs improvement." The food: the currywurst was truly inedible. We sent it back. We weren't charged for it either. The tarte flambées, both the same, were completely different. They didn't have the proper ingredients, and one was light, one was very dark. The side salad was too salty and had far too much dressing. What was okay, though, was that we got a free coffee.

Great place; we always enjoyed going there. But hey, I wouldn't pay €4.90 for a latte, even on Lake Constance. I think that's way too expensive.

Finger food still at "normal" prices... 0.5l beer for €6!!! Sorry, just don't. It'll ruin your appetite.

I'm very disappointed that the food is no longer available after an hour of waiting. I was really looking forward to this dish. Then we paid for our drinks and left. Never again!!!!

Sehr enttäuschend! Wir hatten Putenschnitzel mit Pommes (1x mit Spätzle) und 3x mit Beilagensalate. Der Salat war größtenteils verwelkt, Pommes waren hart und fettig (viel zu lange in der Fritteuse), Pute schlechte Qualität. Die Spätzle waren das einzig Gute am Essen. Neue Pommes bestellt, waren dann besser. Ein sehr enttäuschendes Abendessen. Das 4-Sterne Rating absolut falsch.

There is nothing to complain about except that the side salad and the regular large salad are a bit simple. A bit of cucumber and potato salad with lots of green. It could be more mixed. Otherwise everything is wonderful

Bad through and through. The service was unfriendly and rude and we waited so long for our food that we had to cancel and go somewhere else. We ordered 2 baguettes and it's not understandable how it could take so long. Never again. The waitress then looked at us askance because there was no tip and it would have been our fault.

Quaint restaurant in Ettlingen’s city center. The food is average, nothing special and the price is high. The service makes an effort, but overall it takes too long.

After we had waited over an hour for the food, the portions were rather small, especially with the grill pan for two it was more of a portion for one guest. The waitress noted that the taste wasn't really good. Service was okay, not the fastest but very friendly.

No, the food was in no way worth the price

Food overpriced, nothing special. Were there on a Sunday lunchtime. Dumplings were out. Cheese spaetzle and the roast roast were not possible because the melted onions were out. Then the wrong side dish was delivered with the schnitzel. I don't have to visit again.

Four stars because we felt the price was a bit too high. Otherwise everything was perfect, service, ambience and the food was good. Clear recommendation from us.

Food was OK, nothing underwhelming. However, the service left a lot to be desired. Only after we asked, 30 minutes after ordering, was our food sent to the kitchen. After another 30 minutes we were offered a free drink and the food actually came after another 15 minutes. The reason for the delay was probably communication difficulties in the kitchen. Too bad

Unfortunately it was an underground experience, the service was really unfriendly and sometimes invasive. Unfortunately the food is really bad for the price. We definitely won't come here anymore.

The schnitzel isn't homemade, if it were, that's how it tasted. And there is only fried sauce, no jager sauce, or onion sauce, or paprika sauce. The spaetzle wasn't homemade either. And totally overpriced. Not recommended for people who like schnitzel. That's really not good. The staff stands at the counter with cake and doesn't care if anyone wants something else to drink, you have to walk past them to the toilet and ask the staff if you want something else.

Not bad for eating, but too expensive and ready-made products for the price, so you wish you had more!! Service OK, only one condition and a girl sitting at the window selling mulled wine, where only one waitress has to rush inside, maybe less is more, you should think about it!!!

I liked everything! Excellent spätzle in crust, very good white frankfurter with pretzel, good fries too, not bad beer. All at an honest cost. I'll be back!

Unfortunately, the food wasn't really good and was rather expensive for what you got. Small turkey schnitzel, hard, cold fries, watery potato. We can't recommend it (for eating out).

Numerosissimi i coperti di questo locale, che ha dehors su due lati. Molto buoni i Manettaschen e buona la Flammenkuche. Birre ok. Dessert: strudel eccellente, con gelato alla vaniglia. Prezzi in linea con l'offerta e le porzioni. Staff cordialissimo!

All in all was ok for lunch. Irish coffee was nice, but could've been a bit less rum. Schnitzel was good. Maultaschen Salad was ok, needed to ask for extra dressing. Was tasty though.

The food was really okay for the price. When it comes to service, I would say there is room for improvement. The waiter was friendly and everything, but unfortunately I don't understand restaurants where you almost have to beg for the second (and all other drinks) because no one comes by the table at least every now and then and asks "Can you have something else?". Suffice it to say, there really wasn't much going on, otherwise I would have understood it even sooner. Maybe it would also be noticeable in the checkout --> more sales and maybe even more tips...

Very nice staff and pleasant atmosphere

The host will be happy to delete any unpleasant criticism. That says it all. I was here recently for the first time. You could break a window with the napkin dumplings, they're so hard and dry. When the plate is cleared, the waiter doesn't ask if you want anything else, even though the glass is also empty. You sit in a nice central place. But that doesn't outweigh the other shortcomings. So it was the first and last time I was here.

We sat outside. There were two umbrellas open, one closed. We sat at the closed umbrella because there was only one seat left here. At first we were ignored by both servers for 5 minutes until, when we asked if we could order something, one of them told us succinctly and very unfriendly that we would only be served under the umbrellas because it might rain soon. The lady then just ran away and we got up and left. Never again!

A lovely place to stay. Above all: the employees, i.e. service. Anyone who doesn't feel comfortable there has to do it themselves Fault.

We were there for breakfast. Nice boss, nice service, breakfast fresh and tasty, you can sit outside under large umbrellas, and there's plenty of space inside. Would love to come back.

Before we went to the castle theater we had planned to go out for dinner. Since we had already been here once during the Christmas market, this restaurant was our destination. We were sitting outside when suddenly, without any forecast, it started to rain. The move was problem-free and we were immediately assigned a table inside. Shortly afterwards our food arrived. First, a side salad. Then there was a Jägerschnitzel with fries and a cheese spaetzle with ham in a cheese crust. Both were very well prepared. We've never had cheese spaetzle with a crust, but it was very tasty. The service was quick and friendly. Price-performance ratio was good and reasonable. We would be happy to come back. Rating ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED

Nice spot but unfortunately my spaghetti was totally overcooked and the beef bolognese smelled old.. Horse meat??🤷🏽‍♂️ Beer was very tasty! :)

Nice atmosphere... Waiters are unable to clean tables and chairs.⁷ The waitresses come to the table without a menu for food and drinks and ask, what do you have 🥴? Pizza is frozen food and a big salad, not even a small one 🍅!! Is not recommended ! At least the white autumn was the best!

Vorweg: die Lage ist prima und das Personal aufmerksam und freundlich. Der Salat war leider nicht die richtige Wahl... Ich hatte einen Salat mit Hähnchenfleisch, der mir leider nicht geschmeckt hat. Die Portion war zwar sehr groß (auch durch das Volumen des grünen Salates selbst) aber das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis irgendwie auch schief. Das hauseigene Dressing war mir zu sauer und die sauer eingelegten Salatgurkenscheiben haben es nur noch saurer gemacht. Das dazu gereichte Baguette war lecker, aber insgesamt war ich nicht glücklich während oder nach dem Essen. Abends ging es mir nicht gut und ich hatte Magenprobleme.

Unfortunately, the food was only ready-made food, which apparently consists of frozen food and is simply baked. However, the ambience outside for sitting is nicely designed.

Food mediocre, service subpar. Plates stood empty in front of us for 10 minutes without being cleared away. Side salads were completely forgotten.

We ordered fried schnitzel with spaetzle and unfortunately we got both a children's portion of meat and cold spaetzle Cold and small for about 15eu Class. Fabulous service, great beer and really good German food. Fun place to eat and have a few drinks overlooking the square but at the time of writing - a picture of the toilets!!!! Would someone please sort out the TA listing as this doesn’t do the place any justice.

Cozy restaurant with delicious food, good portions and reasonable prices. The service was friendly and looked after us well. We were there with 10 people, which went smoothly as the tables can be pushed together quickly and easily. No reservation necessary.

We were looking for a quick lunch and had a great meal here. I had the Baden salad with Maultaschen, leaf lettuce and potato salad and my husband had a red currywurst with fries. It was really tasty and the price-performance ratio was great! The service is very friendly and accommodating!

We were visiting Ettlingen with our 3 children on Saturday evening and wanted to have something to eat in the evening. At the first restaurants in the area it was sobering, after seeing 3 children, they were all fully booked and we “unfortunately” didn’t have a reservation. Ok, the shops were 1/2 empty, but ok. This restaurant gave us a very friendly welcome and the service was perfect. So friendly, attentive and thoughtful. The food tasted great, everything was very tasty. Price-wise it was really okay. Whether it's a currywurst or a fantastic salad with avocado, nuts and tomatoes. You felt comfortable there and the audience was correspondingly relaxed and nice. We would definitely only come here the next time we visit Ettlingen. Big praise and keep it up!

Was here with the girls this afternoon, it was really nice. 👍👍👍The restaurant is very cozy, I only had a side salad (I had already eaten it before, unfortunately), which was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented, very good dressing. The dishes that my friends ordered (cheese spaetzle and baked potatoes) also looked really good and tasted great. The champagne cocktails were also very nice.🙃 The prices are absolutely fair to cheap, and the portions are generous (only the piece of apple strudel could be a bit bigger for € 6.90😊 ) I don't know why there is so much complaining about the service here, the young ladies today were all more than attentive, very sweet, personable and friendly and asked several times whether everything was okay. The food came quickly too. Actually service like something out of a picture book, 5 out of 5 * for that!💟 Thank you for the great time and we would love to come back!

I would like to rate more, unfortunately the opportunity did not arise. I rarely write reviews and negative reviews even less, but this was really very disappointing. Normally we tend to eat out in upscale restaurants (having worked in the catering industry for many years ourselves, that's why there's EVEN MORE incomprehension) but sometimes you just feel like a quick bite to eat, eat comfortably, pay, type well and leave again. Admittedly, we spontaneously went to the store at 9:50 p.m. at a relatively late time without calling beforehand and kindly asked if we could get anything else to eat. A simple “We’re sorry, the kitchen is already closed for the day” would have been absolutely fine and, of course, easy to accept. No question! Unfortunately, the reaction or answer from the young blonde lady behind the bar was almost a bit cheeky and condescending. The answer that there was nothing left to eat didn't come straight out of the box like a safe answer, from which one would have concluded that it had already been discussed with the kitchen that there was nothing left... much more was obviously briefly considered (a few seconds) and then spontaneously decide for ourselves and the certainty of getting off work earlier that we won't get anything anymore, which we find very unfortunate in the way it is. Afterwards, without asking, we were told that we could walk over the bridge and get a kebab from Dersim. In our opinion, a very inappropriate statement. As if we were primates who simply care about getting full and not about enjoying something tasty. A pity!

No greeting when you enter. Waited 10 minutes for someone to come to the table, even though there wasn't much going on. Although we ordered 1st, 2nd and 3rd courses, 1st and 2nd came together. After we finished eating, we sat in front of the plates for another 15 minutes... Looking at the cell phone with your work colleague was more important. The food was okay, but the spaghetti was not al dente but almost overcooked.

Wer Kneipen und Bistro Atmosphäre mag ist hier richtig. Ansonsten bekommt man hier für sein Geld nicht die erhofften und gewohnten Portionen.

Im Sommer wunderschön zum draußen sitzen. Mitten im Stadtkern von Ettlingen egal ob mittags oder abends immer gut für einen Besuch!

Bedingungen waren sehr nett. Der Außenbereich war schön und sauber. Pommes und Salat lecker (außer der Kartoffelsalat), am Schnitzel und der Soße kann man noch feilen.

Service nicht besonders,länger warten bis Bedienung kommt ,nicht besonders aufmerksam.Als es noch "Café Täglich"hieß war Service bedeutend besser!!!

Das Gasthaus in der Altstadt besticht mit klassischen und vegetarischen Gerichten. Die charmante Atmosphäre alter Gemäuer Die übersichtliche Speisekarte ist tradtionell ausgelegt. Der flinke und freundliche Service trägt zu einem angenehmen Aufenthalt trägt zu einem angehmen Aufenthalt bei. Das Restaurant ist schön in die Altstadt eingebunden.

Zum draußen Sitzen schön, aber das Essen ist eher Convenient Food und die Bedienungen waren genervt und nicht wirklich freundlich. Muss man nicht unbedingt hin.

Cibo scadente, lunga attesa (anche se eravamo stati avvertiti). Ringrazio una delle cameriere che ha cercato di aiutarci vedendo che mia figlia era stanca.

Pizza war bisserl arg knusprig, geschmacklich gut. Beilagensalat lecker. Käsespätzle, Nudeln, Schnitzel,... Sehr gut, wurde alles zusammen serviert. Service fix und sehr freundlich. Unser Tisch hat arg gewackelt😅, haben wir leider vergessen zu sagen. Für jeden Geschmack was dabei.

Für ein Café oder Bier ist das Lokal wunderbar. Aber eine Bitte an die Geschäftsführung; Bitte Pizzas aus der Menükarte raus nehmen. Das ist keine Pizza; was ihr serviert.. Tiefkühl Pizza als Steinofen Pizza zu servieren , dafür 12. Euro zu verlangen ist einfach Frechheit.. Hühner Schnitzel ist genau so aus dem Tiefkühltruhe.. kostet aber fast 17 Euro.. Service ist freundlich, nett..

Die Anordnung der Tische unpersönlich es fehlt die gemütlicher Atmosphäre z.B. Tischdecko wie Kerzen am Abend oder Solarlichter auf den Tischen .

War jetzt das zweite Mal dort. Beide Male hat mich das Essen nicht überzeugt. Schöner Ort um vor dem Schloss was im freien zu trinken.

Ich hatte vor Kurzem das Vergnügen, das Restaurant Zum Sternen zu besuchen und möchte gerne meine Eindrücke teilen. Alles in allem war es ein angenehmer Besuch mit einigen kleinen Anmerkungen. Der Apfelstrudel, den ich bestellt habe, war absolut köstlich. Der Teig war knusprig und die Füllung perfekt gewürzt. Ich konnte den frischen Geschmack der Äpfel förmlich spüren. Es war ein wahrer Genuss, jeden Bissen davon zu kosten. Allerdings war die Portion des Apfelstrudels etwas kleiner als erwartet. Obwohl der Geschmack großartig war, hätte ich mir gerne etwas mehr davon gegönnt. Das Ambiente im Restaurant Zum Sternen ist wirklich angenehm. Die Einrichtung ist stilvoll und gemütlich, was zu einer entspannten Atmosphäre beiträgt. Es ist ein Ort, an dem man sich wohl fühlt und gerne etwas länger verweilt. Das gepflegte Ambiente hat definitiv zu einem positiven Gesamterlebnis beigetragen. Der Service im Restaurant war gut. Das Personal war freundlich und aufmerksam, und meine Bestellung wurde prompt aufgenommen und serviert. Die Bedienung war hilfsbereit und beantwortete gerne meine Fragen. Es gab nichts Besonderes zu bemängeln, allerdings habe ich auch keine außergewöhnliche Aufmerksamkeit oder besondere Empfehlungen erhalten. Alles in allem war mein Besuch im Restaurant Zum Sternen angenehm. Der köstliche Apfelstrudel und das angenehme Ambiente haben mir gut gefallen. Wenn man jedoch große Portionen erwartet, sollte man vielleicht nachfragen oder eine Ergänzung bestellen. Der Service war solide, aber nicht herausragend. Dennoch kann ich das Restaurant für eine entspannte Mahlzeit empfehlen.
