I'm very disappointed. I've been there several times and experienced everything from unfriendly staff to questionable service. The service is good and very friendly now. But the food quality really leaves much to be desired. It's certainly inexpensive to eat there, but the preparation should reflect that. There can always be problems or minor incidents, so I'll leave it at that. But when you go out as a group of two, three, or four or more and your food arrives at different times, the logistics are poorly organized and it's pointless. Every time, you're left sitting there like a lost puppy, waiting to finally get your food. Usually, it's up to five minutes. Please change this. Because of all these incidents, I won't be coming back for a while.

We had a reservation for 5 people, but unfortunately we had to find the fifth chair ourselves...and they couldn't manage to bring the food to the table at the same time, even though three of us ordered the same meal. The first person finished, and the last person only got their food then. That's unacceptable.

We visited your restaurant and, in the spirit of constructive feedback, would like to share with you a few things that unfortunately significantly marred our experience. Firstly, the ordered dishes (cheese spaetzle and sausage salad) didn't arrive at the table at the same time, which was particularly unfortunate when dining with a child. The cheese spaetzle was also served only lukewarm. The beer we ordered was also initially forgotten, and we had to ask the service staff for it several times. Overall, the wait times were unusually long – both for taking our order and for serving the food and drinks. Especially with a child at the table, we would have appreciated a somewhat faster process and more attention. We appreciate good food and know that there can be stressful periods at times – nevertheless, we hope that you take our feedback seriously and use it to improve your service.

Pretzels are baked and rock-hard. Knuckles with onion meat are served hot and sometimes cold, and spaetzle is served lukewarm to cold.

I'm a fan of Sauerbraten. Ordered it from the weekly menu, it was served quickly, but then... I have to issue a warning to denture wearers: the meat was tough, stringy, dry, and tasteless. The sauce was pulpy like wallpaper paste, and you need a very strong stomach for the pretzel dumplings. After finishing half a plate, everything was only lukewarm, and the plate was cold. The only bright spot? The beer. Food, no thanks.

We were here yesterday to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday. There were about ten of us, and the atmosphere was great. The food, drinks, and the waitresses who served us were very friendly and accommodating. Towards the end of the evening, however, a waitress who hadn't served us before came up to us and pointed out our volume. She asked us to keep our voices down because another table had apparently complained about us. But at that moment, that very table said everything was fine and they weren't bothered at all. It's important to note that we are foreigners, or rather, Croatians, and that this waitress addressed us in our language. We all had the impression that she only did this because she suspected that our native language might bother the German guests next to us. It seemed as if she was trying to score some cheap sympathy points this way, perhaps to get a bigger tip. We were by no means loud and certainly didn't bother anyone. So, we're giving it a bad review—and we definitely won't be back. By the way, the waitress's name was Majda.

Last night, my husband, two good friends, and I were guests at the Vogelhausbräu in Ettlingen. We're actually from near Münster and it was our first time there – and I have to say: It was a truly wonderful evening! From the moment we walked in, we felt very comfortable. The ambiance is truly lovely and cozy; you can immediately tell that many people enjoy gathering here. The service was excellent: Our waitress was extremely friendly and took excellent care of us. The drinks arrived promptly, and after maybe 10 to 15 minutes, the food was on the table – wonderful! We all enjoyed it very much, and the value for money is truly excellent. I'd like to highlight something in particular: In addition to the waitresses, there were also two young men serving the food to the tables. Both were very friendly and attentive. I even had a brief conversation with one of them – he was wearing a black cap. He gave me a few tips for Karlsruhe and the surrounding area, and we actually tried it out today, Sunday. It was wonderful, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank him once again. Perhaps he's reading this. For us, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening with lovely people, delicious food, and a very pleasant atmosphere. All four of us were thrilled and will happily recommend Vogelhausbräu!

Rating: 3 stars (I'm considering giving it only 2) Beer = 5 stars! The taste was great, but the rest... meh. The food, especially the lunch menu, was a disaster. You can really tell the people who work there have probably never eaten anywhere before. That's unacceptable. The punctuality and quality of the food were unfortunately not up to scratch – there's still a lot of room for improvement. All in all, I'm giving it 0 points. But because we're being generous, I rounded up. Conclusion: The beer is great, but I definitely won't be coming back for the food.

It's declined considerably. The service has deteriorated dramatically, the food is no longer, or barely, presented like it was a few years ago. The fries are too soggy and oversalted. The beer is still phenomenal, but the rest isn't at all. Unfortunately, they also removed the kids' corner in the beer garden a few years ago. A shame. The main thing is that there are four more tables for the older crowd.

Vogel Pils is my favorite beer, and I usually go to Vogel Oststadt, where everything is great. In Ettlingen, some of the stuff is low-brow, glasses are extremely dangerous, and every ashtray has sharp edges—really every one. See photos.

The service was abysmal. The waitress at table 55 was so unfriendly. We weren't greeted, the food came out at different times, and the rest of the food arrived only when the best people were finished. We weren't served, and when we were, she was very unfriendly. Responsibilities weren't clearly defined. Child-friendliness was nonexistent. No cloth was provided for spilled drinks. Napkins weren't available on the table. I've rarely encountered such a distant and unfriendly person in a restaurant. The food was delicious.

I was there again with clients on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth the money. Roast beef with onions has been better—a gelled, tasteless gravy. Spaetzle from a package (okay, but oh well). There used to be more meat, too. I probably won't go there for dinner anymore...

Unfriendly, incompetent staff - dirty and disgusting

It's a brewery with three types of local beers and typical German food, and an atmosphere of a German brewpub/biergarden. Overall a very good experience. The beer is excellent, however, don't expect any experiments, rather a typical German varieties (piła, weizen and saison). Food was surprisingly good (looking at the reviews). We had a snitzel and kasenspatzle and both were very good and fresh (and portions are very satisfactory). Service was quick and professional. Prices are fair.

Waitresses have a perfume fetish. They can smell it from 5 meters against the wind.

On Tuesday, our regulars for about 30 years!!! Ordered a Vogelbräu platter, which came with fries 🍟. What was delivered? Potato salad!!! My friend ordered meatloaf. You can't slice a meatloaf any thinner. In Bavaria, that would be cause for a brawl. At some point, I won't eat here anymore. What a shame, really.

We were at Vogelbräu Ettlingen again today. We usually like this place. Today??? I have no idea what the problem was, but within 35 minutes of arriving and taking a seat at table 133, we unfortunately only saw the service from a distance. Yes, I can understand the staff shortage in the restaurant industry, but not even a quick "hello, I'll be right with you." That way, we would have at least felt noticed. I also don't understand the service concept. The order attendants seem to do everything themselves; given the size of the restaurant and the gastronomic concept, a few so-called "runners" would be very beneficial. The way it looked today, there were too many tables that the relatively small staff couldn't serve effectively at all. I don't want to blame the staff, because they were diligent. Rather, I want to blame those responsible for service planning.

This is a really nice place to get a drink. They have homemade beer and whisky which is quite good. The food is nice but not great. Still a nice place to hang out, great service and in the centre, so really nice.

Out of frustration, I ordered a dressed Camembert and about 50g of bread with it, which is never enough. I then had to order another pretzel... The food at the Durlacher Vogel is much better, and so is the service.

Wheat beer tastes like smoke. I've been going to Vogel since I could walk. For the first time, I have to say: the special beer (in this case, wheat beer) was a total failure. I was really looking forward to it. What a shame.

June 9, 2025, 5:00 PM, Whit Monday. Parking is rather difficult to find. It's better to arrive by bike or train. It's also okay by bike. The noise level is very high, even if you want to sit outside. The service is very fast and very friendly. My ordered roast beef with onions was very well cooked. Cooked to perfection. The dumplings were also okay, and the beer sauce wasn't exceptionally tasty. Overall, it was good. Unfortunately, it was very bland, if not completely unseasoned. It's a shame, because the cruet set was hidden out of reach. None of it was visible in plain sight. It belongs on the table, not locked away in a passport or at the bar. The waitress left so quickly that it wasn't possible to ask for it. With a cold drink, I ended up paying a considerable €27.10. I tipped €30, and the rest was a tip. If you like it loud and don't suffer from social anxiety, this is the place for you. Not for romantics, though. Come here with friends and drink the good beer. It's always worth it.

Type. Brewery on the edge of Ettlingen's old town. Reservations are highly recommended if it rains. Even during the week. Friendly and quick service. Very fast. Food like drinks. The knuckle, as can be read in other reviews; It was too hard as a crust and couldn't be cut. It couldn't even be crushed in the mouth. That doesn't negate the price/performance either. Little meat on it. Disappointment. The half chicken top. Cheese spaetzle also delicious. The light beer was too bitter for me. A matter of taste. In general it was too loud for us in the large hall. Better enjoyed on the terrace. Price performance really top. Drinks like food. Unfortunately the quantity of the knuckle is too cheap. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars. 64 euros for 3 people including a pretzel starter and large drinks. Thanks - keep it up and read the Haxen reviews. -)

Nice German atmosphere. The place is big. The food is typical German and they have their own beer.

Were here on Good Friday. Was relatively little attended. It was probably due to the bad weather, which didn't bother us as the food and drinks were served quicker. The service was, as always, very nice. We'd love to come back every time. When the weather is nice, you can sit in the beer garden under the plane trees and enjoy a delicious bird beer.

We had lunch at Vogelbräu Ettlingen on February 24th. We were served quickly and friendly. The food was ok, but unfortunately the cheese spaetzle was lukewarm and the schnitzel was probably frozen. Since the bill was still within the limit at €29, it is still acceptable. I actually wanted to celebrate my birthday there with the family, but since we weren't that convinced about the price-performance ratio, we'll look elsewhere.

The beer (especially the Pils for me) is super tasty, wonderfully hoppy. Plus half a Güggeli - man, what more could you want?

Good beer, food that fills you up and is reasonably priced - there's little to complain about. The service, however, is a disaster. When I wanted to buy the house whiskey, I asked for a sip. There wasn't, which is completely legitimate, but for €110 a liter I wanted advice. Answer: “Just read the brochure.” The brochure is not handed over, but simply slapped on the table. No advice, no one who knows their own products. Please refer to the brochure upon request. Wouldn't have bought anything if the whiskey hadn't been a promised gift. The treatment was a disgrace and you can tell that the focus here is not on the quality, but on the quantity of the treatment. It should also be mentioned that I didn't go at peak times, but on a weekday at 10:45 a.m. So it wasn't because the store was completely full. My experience so far - poor.

The two of us went to Vogelbräu today. The mishap started as soon as the order was placed. We wanted to order a knuckle and a cabbage with boiled food from the daily menu. When it came to the cabbage, the service person first wanted to know the price from us. But well, maybe it's a new employee. The cabbage was served quite quickly, but the knuckle was missing. When we asked, we were told that the food wasn't in the elevator yet and that there was chaos in the kitchen. Well, maybe the kitchen crew is new too. After waiting for well over an hour, we wanted to cancel the pork knuckle and asked for the bill. Presto, the service person was gone and said that she would have to cancel it in the kitchen. After another 10 minutes she came and added up our order, including the knuckle, for the bill. When we told her that we hadn't received the knuckle, she asked in astonishment: oh, it wasn't served? No apology, nothing. Of course, errors can always occur, but then the service should try to make up for it somehow. Perhaps the staff should be trained again on this.

As soon as we entered, the staff were hard to find, and when we were finally noticed, we felt more like a disruption than paying guests. The service? Subterraneanly slow, completely disinterested and unfriendly. To eat: Tasteless, bland and served cold. It looked like it had been lying around for hours before it came to us. I expected a lot from the supposedly “home-brewed” beer – but what we got was stale and tasted like stale water. A bitter failure! And the ambience? Anything but comfortable. It was incredibly loud, chaotic and stuffy. You had the feeling of sitting in a train station and not in a brewery. After this experience, I can only advise everyone not to waste their time and money here. Conclusion: A visit to Vogelbräu Ettlingen is a waste of money and a complete waste of time. Absolutely not recommended!

Wir kommen aus dem Rheinland und wissen daher gute Brauhäuser zu schätzen ; vor diesem Hintergrund war unser Besuch ein sehr positives Erlebnis! Die sehr nette Servicekraft war freundlich und informativ. Die Speisen wurden direkt und schnell aus der Küche persönlich gebracht. Das Ambiente locker und lässig. Das Bier auch etwas für Kölsche ... JA, wir kommen gern wieder!

Terribly disappointed today. I don't know the bird like that. The kitchen has been closed since 10 p.m., there is only dry, hard pretzels left and the service is not interested in sales. Luckily there are other pubs where customers are still served in a friendly manner.

Food is plentiful, tasty, various offerings of food, sufficient, enough for everyone, you don't have to wait long for the food, service was good so far, clearly the service staff were underrated, but they still made an effort to provide the guests with food and drinks in a timely manner to bring the place. Nevertheless, the service staff showed their smiles, even the boss of the Vogelbräu helped. My full respect for that and the fact that the hut is full, but keep it up,
