Es ist ein Alt-Berliner Gasthaus mit traditioneller Speisekarte. Der Service für Berliner Verhältnisse freundlich und auf Zack. Das Essen so semi. Königsberger Klopse hätten ruhig etwas mehr Pep und Würze vertragen können. Schnitzel meiner Einschätzung nach aus der Fritte. Was störte ist, dass es kalt und zugig in der Gaststätte war.

I was alone, and they said there is no table for one. But right after me there was a couple and there was a table for them. So they just refuse to serve to those who are alone. It’s so unprofessional. Do not recommend this place.

Very cute and cosy traditional German restaurant. Great location, in a little courtyard near the river. We didn't eat but were able to come in for a drink. Service was good and staff quite friendly. Good selection of draught beer.

The Patenwirt is really a quaint restaurant. The two service staff are very friendly. The food tastes great. Will come back again when we are there again.

A very clear recommendation if you want to enjoy typical regional food. I had the currywurst, super tasty and with extra crispy fries! Definitely worth a visit!!

Typical place, I really liked it because I think it can fully satisfy the experience of a Berlin-style dinner. Staff efficient and helpful but also friendly enough. Ultimately a more than satisfactory price/quality ratio. I don't feel like evaluating the food because I have no terms of comparison as it was the only typical dinner during my short stay in Berlin.

Mi hermano gemelo y yo estábamos explorando alrededor del maravilloso distrito Nikolaiviertal de Berlín cuando decidimos pasar por Zum Paddenwirt , hemos estado aquí muchas veces a lo largo de los años, siempre lo pasamos bien y así lo demostró en nuestra última visita. Un pub de gran aspecto, interior es, estilo berlinés muy tradicional, características de madera oscura abundan en todo este pub, decoración ecléctica y mobiliario y un montón de opciones de asientos repartidos por todo este pub tanto en el interior como en el exterior con vistas al concurrido y hermoso Nikolaiviertal ( Nicholas Quarter ) , es simplemente un pub realmente bueno para relajarse. Pedimos cervezas a Berliner Kindl Schultheiss Brauerei ( cerveza Schultheiss ) y estas se servían en excelentes condiciones siendo heladas frías y espumosas, nos relajamos y planeamos el día anterior mientras bebíamos nuestras cervezas. Esta es una de las grandes marcas de cerveza de Berlín, una cerveza estilo lager dorada, ligera y con lúpulo llena de sabor y muy fácil de beber sobre todo cuando se sirve helada fría como en este pub, no me sorprende por qué este pub es tan popular entre las cervezas servidas en estas buenas condiciones. Ambos disfrutamos mucho de nuestras cervezas aquí antes de seguir adelante y aunque nuestra visita fue solo fugaz como en cualquier otra visita a Zum Paddenwirt nos lo pasamos muy bien. Zum Paddenwirt es fácil de localizar en Nikolaiviertal en Nikolaikirchplatz. El horario de apertura es; Lunes a domingo, abierto desde mediodía. Vale la pena comprobar si estás en el barrio Nicholas de Berlín.

We were there spontaneously without registering and were completely thrilled. Matching ambience and really good food.

Delicious food, great atmosphere for me, nice old pub, prices ok. Gladly again.

Went in and asked if there were any tables free, the waiter checked and said no then walked off. We had to wait for a bit for her to come back to ask to make a booking, she said no we are fully booked today and walked off again. We gave up on waiting for her to come back again to ask if we can book another day. I’m not sure why she was rude because some German people who were before us made a booking with her and she was nice.

Wertes Team, In den letzten 10 Tagen waren wir(60+/70+) 2x mit 5 Gästen bei Euch.Wir hatten jeweils verschiedene Speisen. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und die Speisen in Menge und Qualität sehr gut. Wir sehen uns wieder!! Vielen Dank.

I am so happy to have wandered into this quaint little restaurant serving authentic comfort food as a respite from the cold outside. The Berliner beer was wonderful, and we had both boiled and roasted pork knuckles. The boiled one was surprisingly good. The breaded schnitzel was crispy, and the meat still tender inside. With potatoes and sauerkraut it really made everything complete. Service was prompt and quite friendly, too.

Beautifully typical Berlin restaurant with friendly service, lots of atmosphere, outdoor seating for the summer and delicious food.

The Paddenwirt at the Nicolaikirche is still a real Berlin restaurant in the heart of Berlin. The kitchen offers real Berlin specialties at a fair price. I always have to eat the pork knuckle with sauerkraut and pea purée at Paddenwirt (LOL). The service is friendly and helpful. There could be problems for disabled people with wheelchairs as there are 7 steps to climb to the entrance. Have fun!

Scoperto per caso perché la nostra prima scelta era completamente full. Cucina tipica berlinese, locale accogliente e caratteristico (rane ovunque). Abbiamo preso come antipasto medaglioni di patate impanati e salmone e la tipica cotoletta di maiale con patatine. Anche le birre ottime. Consigliato!

Good typical German restaurant and very good staff

Here you can get super tasty food in a very relaxed atmosphere, outside and inside. Really an exception compared to other restaurants in the corner. By the way: there is real Berlin service here. Wonderful!

Everything was very good there. Very affordable prices and vegetarian options too. Portions were relative to expectations.

When we came into the restaurant there were a total of 7 guests sitting at the tables. Now we wait for the condition that has been a long time coming. Unfortunately I had to knock on the kitchen door to draw our attention. The young gentleman who came out could tell from the expression on his face that he was probably annoyed. To put it briefly, we would then be served but with facial expressions and appropriate behavior. Unfortunately I can't really give a positive review here. We will not visit this restaurant again. On the one hand, we didn't know that you couldn't look for a table in your restaurant on your own, especially since it was nowhere to be seen that this was "only" done by the staff. Craving fried pork knuckle, I used Google Maps to find a well-rated restaurant nearby. Their pork knuckle isn’t too greasy, and the flavor is perfectly balanced. Paired with sauerkraut, it has a special taste. The waiter was friendly and had a warm smile.

Happened into this quaint biergarten by chance after the marathon. Couldn't have asked for a more on-point experience, the owner and crew were all terrific and suffered thru our bad German!

If you seeking great authentic food this is the place to go We came here three times during our trip with my cousin, always best service I suggest the crispy pork knuckle or the rump roast it was excellent 👌

Another (rare) place to eat Berlin in Berlin is the Nikolaiviertel. Good food here, plentiful, fair prices (€20 each). It's a shame they close the kitchen early, otherwise we would have also tasted the strudel...

My “slaughter plate” was great. The solyanka was the best I have ever eaten! Staff friendly, restaurant is in a quiet corner of the Nikolaiviertel and is not that crowded. Restaurant looks nice and rustic from the inside. I'll be back !

It met expectations for a more typical German menu served with a good variety of beers in quiet outdoor setting. Service was prompt and efficient. The food was good but not great. The schnitzel was a bit on the tough side, but it was fine.

Located in a really nice area. If we did not find this restaurant we would not be able to explore the area surrounding the St Nicholas church. Food was great and in big portions (normal Germany portion) and the service was good, efficient and fast. We sat outside due to the stroller and since it is a garden, there were bees and flies wanting to taste our food constantly. Not the restaurants fault but next time I aim to sit inside.

Only stopped in to have a drink and see what the menu was like. The staff were friendly and there was a good ambience. We will probably visit sometime this week for a meal.

Good traditional and no-fuss German restaurant combining a selection of Berlin specialties with other regional dishes, including from the South. Very nice beer garden in summer months overlooking the quiet and charming Nikolaiviertel in central Berlin. Service is friendly, rapid, and efficient. Portions are on the large side and prices are totally fair considering the area and the food quality.

A great shop in the middle of Berlin with good food but unfortunately they skimped on the spices. Just drinking outside but not eating doesn't make any sense either. Yes, it's something for tourists but not for Berliners

We come from outside and visit the state capital from time to time. Not least because of the unbeatable quality and affordable prices, we regularly visit this original Berlin restaurant, where everyone is warmly welcome. The team is and remains very friendly, even when the restaurant and beer garden are very busy. Unfortunately, we discovered during our various visits that some guests forget to appreciate the deliciously tasty and prepared food as well as the great service. A good tip for everyone who wants to visit the Paddenwirt, a prior reservation is definitely an advantage☝️☝️☝️ All in all... we can only recommend this restaurant, keep it up, we'll be happy to come back at any time👍👍👍

We're actually there regularly. Now in summer it seems to be "tourist mode", in winter it was more lovingly prepared and tastier. Hopefully the cook will be more ambitious again for our traditional New Year's hike.
