Great food, rustic dining room, friendly staff. Had a generous portion of fried herring.

Everything was very good there. Very affordable prices and vegetarian options too. Portions were relative to expectations.

When we came into the restaurant there were a total of 7 guests sitting at the tables. Now we wait for the condition that has been a long time coming. Unfortunately I had to knock on the kitchen door to draw our attention. The young gentleman who came out could tell from the expression on his face that he was probably annoyed. To put it briefly, we would then be served but with facial expressions and appropriate behavior. Unfortunately I can't really give a positive review here. We will not visit this restaurant again. On the one hand, we didn't know that you couldn't look for a table in your restaurant on your own, especially since it was nowhere to be seen that this was "only" done by the staff. The fact that we only took a menu is also a lie from the staff. Since they have cameras positioned everywhere in their restaurant, you could see this. Lg

Friendly service, fast and tasty cuisine

The service in the restaurant was great, as was the food.

Russian soup, potato pancakes with apple sauce and curry wurst. Delicious and hot. Loved the atmosphere and the bonfire in the middle of the outdoor seating.

It's good that there are still places that have somehow fallen out of time, but are therefore valuable and lovable. And if the food is good and fits the ambience, what more could you want.

Craving fried pork knuckle, I used Google Maps to find a well-rated restaurant nearby. Their pork knuckle isn’t too greasy, and the flavor is perfectly balanced. Paired with sauerkraut, it has a special taste. The waiter was friendly and had a warm smile.

Happened into this quaint biergarten by chance after the marathon. Couldn't have asked for a more on-point experience, the owner and crew were all terrific and suffered thru our bad German!

If you seeking great authentic food this is the place to go We came here three times during our trip with my cousin, always best service I suggest the crispy pork knuckle or the rump roast it was excellent 👌

Came on Friday at 9:20pm and they told us they were closing. Google says 11 p.m., so be careful. It's ok, but the boss just smiled and nodded when I said they could change it online.

I am battling with the flys, trying to snatching food from their mouth. Finally I gave up, let them enjoy the meal.

Really delicious in the Nikolaiviertel, good and tasty food at a reasonable price. We were very happy with everyone. Quick and well cooked. Sufficient portion and many beers available.

Another (rare) place to eat Berlin in Berlin is the Nikolaiviertel. Good food here, plentiful, fair prices (€20 each). It's a shame they close the kitchen early, otherwise we would have also tasted the strudel...

In the old quarter of Berlin, very nice restaurant with good food and pleasant service. The arbor is a plus when it's hot, sheltered from trees and not from parasols. The beer is good.

My “slaughter plate” was great. The solyanka was the best I have ever eaten! Staff friendly, restaurant is in a quiet corner of the Nikolaiviertel and is not that crowded. Restaurant looks nice and rustic from the inside. I'll be back !

It met expectations for a more typical German menu served with a good variety of beers in quiet outdoor setting. Service was prompt and efficient. The food was good but not great. The schnitzel was a bit on the tough side, but it was fine.

We have visited the sum paddenwirt restaurant a couple of times for both drinks and a bite to eat, A great location at Nicholaiviertel and cosy terrace courtyard in shade. Good service and nice food and drinks. Prices are about usual for the menu. Definitely worth a look and visit

We only stopped for a drink in the evening, but it was a nice experience and would look to go again and try the food.

A quaint and typical restaurant with a beer garden. You sit comfortably next to a small fountain and surrounded by trees. Nothing better than ending a city tour on a summer day.

I'd say this is a classic german biergarten small, but cozy. All local Berlin dishes were perfect.

Located in a really nice area. If we did not find this restaurant we would not be able to explore the area surrounding the St Nicholas church. Food was great and in big portions (normal Germany portion) and the service was good, efficient and fast. We sat outside due to the stroller and since it is a garden, there were bees and flies wanting to taste our food constantly. Not the restaurants fault but next time I aim to sit inside.

Only stopped in to have a drink and see what the menu was like. The staff were friendly and there was a good ambience. We will probably visit sometime this week for a meal.

Good traditional and no-fuss German restaurant combining a selection of Berlin specialties with other regional dishes, including from the South. Very nice beer garden in summer months overlooking the quiet and charming Nikolaiviertel in central Berlin. Service is friendly, rapid, and efficient. Portions are on the large side and prices are totally fair considering the area and the food quality.

A great shop in the middle of Berlin with good food but unfortunately they skimped on the spices. Just drinking outside but not eating doesn't make any sense either. Yes, it's something for tourists but not for Berliners

We come from outside and visit the state capital from time to time. Not least because of the unbeatable quality and affordable prices, we regularly visit this original Berlin restaurant, where everyone is warmly welcome. The team is and remains very friendly, even when the restaurant and beer garden are very busy. Unfortunately, we discovered during our various visits that some guests forget to appreciate the deliciously tasty and prepared food as well as the great service. A good tip for everyone who wants to visit the Paddenwirt, a prior reservation is definitely an advantage☝️☝️☝️ All in all... we can only recommend this restaurant, keep it up, we'll be happy to come back at any time👍👍👍

We're actually there regularly. Now in summer it seems to be "tourist mode", in winter it was more lovingly prepared and tastier. Hopefully the cook will be more ambitious again for our traditional New Year's hike.

At 7:30 p.m. they tell you to have dinner at your house🤣

Als Berliner sollte man nicht im Zentrum Essen gehen habe ich mal gehört. Der "Paddenwirt" ist eine Ausnahme. Ich war schon mehrfach als Berliner, aber auch mit auswärtigen Gästen dort. Jedes mal Spitze. Trifft Küche und Service. kann ich nur jedem weiterempfehlen.

Zum Paddenwirt in the Nikolaiviertel area of Berlin is super place for authentic German food. It has a funky frog theme, which we liked. My wife and I took a group of friends/German language students for a long weekend to Berlin, and came across this place by chance. They were great at accomodating a group of 12. We had good food at a good price and we didn't have to book in advance. Friendly, helpful service and a great atmosphere. We will go again when we visit Berlin next.

...came in by chance, it was the May 1st holiday and were greeted very friendly. Drinks arrived in no time, food, knuckle and schnitzel prepared fresh and crispy, everything was delicious and the sauerkraut was great. So there's nothing to complain about here and we recommend it!!! Conclusion we will be back :-))

Vi besøgte, 3 vennepar, besøgte restauranten. Alle valgte “Asparges”-menuer. Vellykket. Den kvindelige tjener var rar og dygtig. Et godt bud i Berlin-Mitte, vis-a-vis Nikolai Kirche.

Food was delicious, I had pike perch fillet with asparagus. Service very courteous and attentive. Points deducted for inadequate ventilation. Clothes smell extremely like grease and kitchen fumes. Very unpleasant, it was a business lunch.

Food was good but expensive. The schnitzel was the smallest I have ever had. 18,5 euros for such a tiny schnitzel is abusive. 4,9 euros for a 750 mL is also abusive. The quality was okay but the prices abusive considering the sizes of the dishes and drinks. I will not come back.

"My visit to the Paddenwirt was overall pleasant. The restaurant offered a diverse selection of dishes and the atmosphere was inviting. However, I was a little disappointed with the attentiveness of the staff, as my waiter seemed inattentive at times. I was particularly concerned with the portion size A bit disappointed with my schnitzel. Although it was tasty, I would have expected a slightly more generous portion for the price of €16.90. Nevertheless, the food was tasty. Overall, I would give the Paddenwirt 3 out of 5 stars because I liked the offer and that "We liked the atmosphere, but the attentiveness of the staff and the portion size of the food offer room for improvement."

Rustic Berlin original in the Zille district. Cozy. Delicious mainly Berlin food. It really tasted really good and you can really afford it given the prices. Super friendly service staff. Always happy.

Opened the door, walked in and immediately felt comfortable. The two employees were great, attentive and nice. The food was delicious, as was the wine. Thank you very much for that! A rustic restaurant that is made into something special and very personal by its loving colleagues and the great food.
