Speisen phantasielos, schlechte Preisleistung, Nach dem der Sauerbraten (trocken, sehnig, zäh) zu 2/3 auf dem Teller blieb, wurde nicht mal gefragt ob alles in Ordnung sei. Service nicht vorhanden, Bedienung unfreundlich, gleichgültig. Waren früher schon mal hier, da war es um Klassen besser. Nicht mehr dass, was es mal war.

To describe it briefly. Everything is great. Best restaurant next to Mutter Hoppe. There's nothing better in Mitte.

The dill sauce with the fish just tasted sour. Then why the extra lemon? The Jim Beam Cola not only tasted completely wrong because of the Pepsi Cola alone, but also like a cheap Scotch mixed with Pepsi. I come from the catering industry myself and can immediately taste the difference between bourbon and scotch. It doesn't matter if it was presented from an original Jim Beam bottle. The smell and taste is what makes a real Jim Beam. I am very disappointed to have to experience something like this in a German restaurant. 😣

Restaurant in the center of Berlin. We ate several courses, which in this restaurant are very abundant, therefore an appetizer is like a portion. Fair price, almost low for the huge quantity of food brought. It was a miracle that I managed to finish the 1.2kg shank, which was still very tasty, with a side of excellent sauerkraut. The place is very characteristic, very typical, and there is a homely and traditional atmosphere. Optimal.

I can't judge either the food or the environment, since I wasn't able to book either one day or the next. The unpleasant feeling of not being welcome by the maitre d', given that the waiter did everything to reserve a place for us. To test the maitre d', I asked to book for the next day and to my great surprise the maitre d' said that he had everything booked (on a Tuesday evening?) even though he showed me a practically empty diary. The cabbage roulade was too salty, the sauce was an absolute mess and the potatoes were inedible. Baked potato completely dried out and the vegetables and salad were completely over-seasoned! This was a really catastrophe. I don't know how they could spoil even vegetable salad, not even speaking about main dishes. They looked as if they just took frozen food from the nearest Lidl and tasted the same, then asked you 20 euro for this. I put two stars instead of one only because the service and place itself were nice.

I left this store today stunned. You can't beat the disrespect towards your guests. We were there with a larger group and I understand that 15 meals at the same time is a challenge, but then not accepting criticism but arguing with the saying that you wouldn't be able to return a kebab in a snack bar that doesn't taste good is a significant act your own self-perception. I was the only one who had the “fresh chanterelles” with boiled potatoes. The chanterelles were raw and slimy and simply inedible, especially because they were full of sand and made a crunch in the mouth. Canned chanterelles were also mixed in. I felt sick after two bites and let the food go back. As proof that they were real chanterelles, I was shown an empty mushroom basket, which rather confirmed the can's suspicion, as the supply had apparently run out. I still had to pay for this expensive meal and when I wasn't happy about it I was turned away from the store. Absolute disaster, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't experienced it myself. The restaurant manager's passive-aggressive tone not only shows a lack of appreciation for guests but also reveals their inner attitude towards them - from this one can conclude that the quality of the food is poor. However, it remains questionable whether a man would have been treated in the same condescending manner. One thing is clear: the idea of ​​service is out of place here; only sales count here. UPDATE to owner's response: How sad that an owner cannot handle criticism and aggressively insults the customer personally and also distorts the facts that I was supposed to have been loud. That's pretty pathetic! There's actually nothing more to say about this and it doesn't seem to be an isolated case, as you can see from the angry reaction. Unprofessional on every level. If you want to try a local restaurant, good traditional german cuisine and beer, this is the place. Far way from the crowded places with lots of turists here I find a cozy place, surrounded by Linden trees with all nice flowers and smell, kind staff, fair prices and well served plates. Just come and enjoy.

Reading the opinions of other guests, I think that my friend and I probably made a mistake by ordering fish. The dishes looked very nice, but unfortunately I have to complain about the quality. Boiled potatoes (1.5 pieces) for the trout were sour and smelled of ammonia, the puree for my option (pike perch) looked as if some of the potatoes were cut into pieces and some were pureed. The dill sauce was basically flour and lemon, the spinach looked like it had been reheated at least a few times and was quite bland. The trout was very tasty, but the zander was unfortunately dry. The service lady was wonderful, fast and very polite.

At the Julchen Hoppe restaurant in Berlin we tried the Berliner Kindl, typical Berlin food, apart from typical German food. Good price and good food in a very Berlin atmosphere. The waiters served us quickly once we were seated, although we had to wait a little to eat because it was full, but they gave us a table without having a reservation.

The place looks very good, the food is good and has good variety. Staff is mostly rude and have not lot of respect for costumers: they were smoking right in front of us that sit outside. It's an ok place. I'll edit in order to answer to the comment below. I understand your point, and yes I'm sure he was part of the staff since he prepared our drinks, but even after a shift smoking less then two meters from costumers, talking with a colleague that still in his working hours sounds really a bad deal. That wasn't just that, the amount of sighing after just 2 questions was really rude. Hope it will get better in the future, but definitely an ok experience at the moment.

Great, we were there for the first time years ago and were looking forward to eating there again. Unfortunately, the food was an absolute failure. Rock-hard and tough beef roulade, the potatoes were mostly raw and the Königsberger meatballs were way too sour and too salty. Only the cheese spaetzle was halfway OK, but it was more of a pasta casserole. Unfortunately it's far from what we knew from our first visit.

The sauerbraten tasted really great, but the waitress only showed up outside after we noticed us after a long wait. Although there were hardly any tables occupied. Visited Julchen again today after a long time! Most recently we were here with my brother-in-law and we were actually happy. But unfortunately our visit today was different than it was back then. We actually wanted to have a nice meal again. But unfortunately things turned out differently, because at first we were seated, but after I ordered a coffee and received the menu, I had the nerve to ask about the reservation on May 30, 24 and my wife described the reservation over the phone that it was from was received by an employee with broken German! Then an employee came in broken German and denied the reservation and said that he was there the first day. Nobody had accused him! He started complaining to us and asked about today's reservation! He told us that we were not welcome in the restaurant and asked us to leave!! Now I'm wondering who said that here. A foreign colleague should not have the right to expel people who want to check a reservation!! We are still in Berlin and not abroad!!! I hope the restaurant owner reads this because no restaurant can afford to lose sales!! In the sense: "Think about it!! - Berlin belongs to us!!"
