Why does it say online that you're open, when you're actually closed until May for renovations? This is just a rip-off of guests.

Delicious traditional food, quiet place

Authentic restaurant serving local food. We were visiting Berlin for a couple of days and we ate at this restaurant every evening.

Disinterested waiter didn't want to reveal a FREE table by the window for an absurd reason: the free table was "too big" for 2 people.

Very, very good "home cooking", very tasty. A very clear recommendation.

I got a pork schnitzel with potatoes and peas. I mean, true German fare. The potatoes were undercooked and insipid. The pork dry and under seasoned, too. The peas were a little grey, had a bite (although they were most definitely not fresh), and no flavor. But what upset me even more was the 6.9 euros bottle of water (3/4 liter). What in the world? When I asked, I was told that I was in Berlin, as if to suggest that prices are higher because this is a higher place. Please, stop robbing people and start putting some pride in the food you make.

La comida era excelente y razonable relación calidad-precio también - sin duda recomendaría el nudillo de cerdo. El servicio estaba bien, el camarero parecía bastante desdeñoso de nosotros inicialmente (no estoy seguro de si eso es porque éramos ingleses, pero hablaba bastante bien inglés) pero el servicio era todo preciso y oportuno. La decoración en el restaurante era acogedor - se sentía como si estuviera en la cocina de su abuela!

Prima plek. Een echt Alt Berliner gasthuis. Dat is aan de inrichting te zien maar heeft ook wel wat. Heerlijke muziek uit de 80 er jaren. Aardige bediening en prima eten voor een nette prijs.

A currywurst is a must in Berlin. Food very tasty. Ambience great.

This place pretended to be friendly on the outside, but I felt discriminated against Asians. The female employee told me to sit right next to the entrance even though there were plenty of seats inside. The locals behind us, one or two, guided us inside. What are the seat allocation criteria? I felt very bad and was shivering from the cold throughout the meal. I would never recommend this place, as they didn't even like throwing beer glass holders when serving. The food was salty, the service was 0, and the female staff member did not hesitate to discriminate against racism behind her smiling face... I hope she reflects on this.

Really good authentically (duh.) German food. We had the lentil and the potato soup and a cucumber salad to share. Everything was really delicious, and I’ll gladly bring more friends here to try German cuisine!

I was there for the company Christmas party with about 15 other people. The ambience is great, you can't say anything against it. The service staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food portions are rather small and do not correspond to the price. The absolute impudence is the cheese spaetzle, which I urgently have to advise against! You pay a whopping €20! For the meager portion you get lukewarm spaetzle with normal Emmental cheese. It is advertised as a mountain cheese that has matured for 3 months. The spaetzle was overcooked and no longer had any bite. There wasn't much to gain in terms of taste either. Take a look at the attached pictures to see what you get for a whopping €20. Mind you.....even venison goulash is strangely cheaper than the spaetzle oO. The Kaiserschmarrn ordered as dessert was also not worth mentioning. Extremely small portion and tastes more like a finished product. The neighboring restaurant “Mutter Hoppe” is definitely better than “Julchen Hoppe” Bigger portions, better taste.

We went on a whim to want typical Berlin/German food and both the food and the service have been excellent, juicy meat and exquisite sauce, generous portions, the recommendation for the Second round of beers was 10 for the waiter. The Christmas decoration of the ten restaurant's decoration, out of pity and because we were in a hurry, and because they were there, we have not been able to try the desserts but we want to return to try them.

The ambience is very nice, the food was good, the service was very nice.

Das Essen- Haxe ( könnte wirklich knuspriger sein!!!) mit Sauerkraut u Bratkartoffeln. War gut… Entenkeule mit Grünkohl und Klöse, war hervorragend gut. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Alles sauber und ansprechend

Gewoon goed, als je geen hipster-tent wil en een ouderwetse Duitse maaltijd wil. Heel blij mee. Lijkt steeds lastiger te vinden, een ouderwetse goeie schnitzel te kunnen eten.

I put a 1 because I can't put less. We were there for 50 minutes and they didn't serve us food. We had to leave without eating, because after asking the waiter if our plates were missing much, he looked at the clock and it didn't look like they would arrive soon. We told him to charge us for the drinks (€17 for two beers and a water), and he got angry because we were leaving the restaurant, reproaching us that every time you go to a restaurant you have to wait at least an hour or an hour and a half for the dishes. absurd. We certainly won't be back. Very unfriendly waiters.

One of the best restaurants for Berlin food if you are there. The attention, the professionalism of the waiters and all the staff. The quality of the food. Everything was spectacular. We went on the 25th without a reservation and they took us. And right there I booked for the 27th, which was my birthday and I wanted to celebrate it there. Without a doubt I recommend it to everyone who visits Berlin.

Un pub que siempre espero visitar en cualquier vacación que lleve a esta fascinante ciudad es Julchen Hoppe , estuvo aquí antes en muchas ocasiones, siempre lo pasó bien y así lo demostró en nuestra última visita. Un pub de gran aspecto, el interior es magnífico, de estilo berlinés muy tradicional, características de madera oscura abundan en todo este pub, decoración y muebles encantadores, un llamativo bar de servicio y un montón de opciones de asientos repartidos por todo este pub tanto dentro como fuera con vistas a la concurrida y bulliciosa Rathausstraße. Nos sentamos afuera donde pedimos cervezas a Berliner Kindl Schultheiss Brauerei (cerveza Berliner Kindl ) y estas se servían en excelentes condiciones siendo heladas frías y espumosas, nos relajamos y empapamos de la gran vibra en este concurrido y popular pub mientras tomábamos nuestras cervezas. Esta es una de las grandes marcas de cerveza de Berlín, una cerveza estilo lager dorada, ligera y con lúpulo rebosante de sabor y muy fácil de beber especialmente cuando se sirve helada fría como en este pub, no es de extrañar que este pub sea tan popular entre las cervezas servidas en estas buenas condiciones. Ambos disfrutamos mucho de nuestras cervezas aquí antes de seguir adelante y aunque nuestra visita fue solo fugaz como en cualquier otra visita a Julchen Hoppe nos lo pasamos muy bien. Julchen Hoppe es fácil de localizar a lo largo de Rathausstraße. El horario de apertura es; De lunes a domingo, 11. 30 am a 11 pm. Vale la pena comprobar si estás en el distrito Nikolaiviertal de Berlín.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the food that much. The dessert was delicious. The service was super fast.

Immer wieder sehr gerne ins Julchen Hoppe! Großen Dank an die wunderbare Küche, mit deutschen Gerichten, die unglaublich lecker und sehr guter Qualität kocht. Und leben tut das Julchen von seinen unglaublichen Personal. Uns umsorgte wieder Regina; sie ist ein Goldstück! Unglaublich professionell und dabei so herzlich und freundlich. Wir fühlen uns immer so willkommen und absolut wohl.

I went there during Christmas with 2 friends, despite the fact that two of us actually living in Berlin and speaking German, the waiter started to speak English (well, probably bcz we ain't white?) to us. Okay, that's fine. The food was okay-ish, tho nothing more than expected. But what really made me angry until now after a few months when thinking about it was: in the end, the waiter asked "how much do you want to tip?" Seriously? When did tip become obligated in Germany? Are you even treating us at least as well as your other German customers??? I always tip a little bit no matter what. But how dare you ask this way? Never ever happened to me in Germany in almost 10 years living here and I asked some "Urberliner" friend who confirmed this never happened in his lifetime! It's probably a mixture of micro-aggression against foreigners/tourists and pure rudeness. Never again and I would suggest any foreigners, especially non-white people, ruuuuuun awwwwway from this place. I only regret that I was too polite and still tipped him a bit. Oh yes, I'm writing bcz I should have said all these directly in front of his face, during Christmas Eve, just like any other average German will do. ——- this is reviewed a long time ago and I just updated it because clearly the attitude from the owner deserves 0 star. I booked with great enthusiasm because it was my children's birthday and it seemed very special to have dinner in a German restaurant while we were in Berlin. However, since we entered, it did not go well. We arrived ten minutes early and the waiter seemed annoyed. They sat us at the reserved time at a table where no one had been before. When we ordered and I pointed to the knuckle of the letter downloaded in Spanish, he told me that it was valid with the number and I assumed that he had written it down. We ordered two other dishes, currywurst and pasta. 45 minutes later the sausages and pasta appear. Already finishing, I go out to ask about the knuckle, and he tells me that I haven't ordered anything else. If I order it, it's another 20 minutes. While I talk to my family, he comes to insist that the misunderstanding is my fault. Super elegant. My children, exhausted by the wait and overwhelmed by the waiter's bad attitude, want to leave. When we go to pay, he asks my husband in German if he has a card (although he knows we only speak Spanish and English). They have to translate for us from the next table. In front of us he makes a comment in German where he mentions something about Spanish. Super stylish again. In short, the food is good but a very disappointing experience due to an attitude that is not understood and that has spoiled the celebration.

We had pumpkin soup in advance, which was just OK, but everything else went well. Good price-performance ratio. The service was friendly and quick. The wines, beers and brandies were also delicious.

Great typical Berlin dishes, including vegan food. Great facility. Even though many of the buildings there were only built in the 1980s, they match the old houses in the Nikolai district, where Berlin was founded in 1237.

The ambience here is fantastic and the food looks really great too. Today I probably had the salty day, it was a bit too salty and unfortunately also partly too gristly. But I'm only speaking for myself, I was here with a group and most of them really enjoyed it.

Delicious German cuisine, pork knuckle was great, the pea puree was a disaster, the cabbage roulade was hearty, the potatoes were loveless, the roast venison was fantastic, the Schupfnudeln came with it from a bag. The restaurant is really lovingly decorated.

Stopped by by chance while visiting Berlin. Come in, take a seat and feel comfortable, that's how it was for us. Went there with 5 people and had a good meal. Service very friendly and prices okay.

I was going to order Haksen, schnitzel, and currywurst, but they said it was okay to just order Haksen and schnitzel because they said there was a lot of food! As I said, it was enough food for two adult men, and most of all, the staff who served me were so kind that I had a great first meal in Berlin! The food is delicious, friendly, and the atmosphere is nice, so many Koreans should go there~~

Real German restaurant. Everything is made according to traditional recipes, very tasty, attentive and hospitable staff, everything is just right!

Cucina discreta, solite cose, nulla di particolare. Non dico ci fosse qualcosa di cattivo, ma nulla per cui tornerei. Anche il personale non particolarmente amichevole. Il gulasch era buono, ma non abbastanza piccante.

We ate at this beautiful restaurant serving typical German cuisine during our visit to the German capital and we fell in love with it. Whether it is the roast pork shank accompanied by tasty sauerkraut and potatoes, the infamous currywurst accompanied by excellent french fries (much better than those found on the street in fast food restaurants) or the typical Spatzle seasoned with cheese, onion and herbs, everything, absolutely everything we tried was delicious and we can't wait to return to Berlin even just to eat in this restaurant. The dessert is also delicious, a sort of large pancake torn into pieces and garnished with ice cream, icing sugar, apple and orange. Furthermore you can also find a menu in Italian. Highly recommended!!

Abbiamo mangiato in questo bellissimo ristorante di cucina tipica tedesca durante la nostra visita alla capitale tedesca e ce ne siamo innamorati. Che si tratti dello stinco di maiale arrosto accompagnato da gustosi crauti e patate, del famigerato currywurst accompagnate da ottime patatine fritte (molto più buono di quelli che si trovano per strada nei fast food) o dei tipici Spatzle conditi con formaggio e cipolla ed erbe, tutto ma proprio tutto ciò che abbiamo provato era buonissimo e non vediamo l'ora di tornare a Berlino anche solo per mangiare in questo ristorante. Squisito anche il dolce, una sorta di grande pancake fatto a pezzi e guarnito con gelato, zucchero a velo, mela ed arancia. Inoltre potrete trovare anche un menù in italiano. Consigliatissimo!!

Good hot Berlin food. Friendly staff. It's not often you get such a good potato soup. The only drawback: too many reservations. If you ask nicely, something is usually possible.

Julchen Hoppe - German Restaurant Good German cuisine with great staff. Despite the tourist location, the price/performance ratio is right, and as a Berliner you can also go there.

Great service even if it's evening and the city is full of tourists. Cozy, rustic atmosphere and centrally located in the Nikoleivirtel. We were only there with friends for a quick beer, but I think Berlin cuisine is not to be despised.

I liked everything very much. We were with two wheelchair users. Despite this, they quickly organized the place and provided excellent service. The food is fantastic. The veal rollas were more tender than cream on strawberries!!! And the red cabbage in the joint was something that reminded me of grandma's food when I was a kid. We will return here more than once, despite the huge selection provided by Berlin!!!

Due to popularity the restaurant was booked but they had ample seating outside, service was quick and efficient and the food was warm tasty and comforting in a chilly evening. Coachman’s plate was Devine

We were looking for a place with traditional German food and we found this restaurant. Very close to the monuments to Marx and Engels, and close to the museum island, it did not disappoint us. We ordered two portions of Currywurst, a traditional dish if there is one. The sausages were very good, with a tomato-based sauce that had a very good sweet touch. We really liked the restaurant too, the decoration made it very cozy. A place to which we will return if we have the opportunity. Highly recommended!

Delightful small restaurant with exceptionally good food. Two of our party had the sauerbraten, one had text knuckle, and I had the most venison. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal although it was huge, it could easily have had two people enjoy one meal and still had food to take home. Each of the meals were served with red cabbage and cranberries, which was also excellent. The restaurant is attractive, and the people are very pleasant. I highly recommend!

I went there with high expectations, but contrary to my expectations, the taste of the Schweinhaksen was nothing.. The meat was tough and hard, and the skin was too hard.. The sauce was not so good either. I wonder if the chef changed his mind just the day I went..
