The view is beautiful, but unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. The potato had a strange taste, and later I had a stomach ache. The service was also inattentive. Overall, a not a good experience.

I don't understand how this place is rated as it is. As a non German native, every time I go I'm treated with open hostility and annoyance that I don't know their full menu offerings. If you ask a question, if you don't understand their dialect, if you make an order, they are openly hostile or ignore you. I get that Berliner Schnauze is some point of cultural pride but my experience was more leaning towards xenophobia

A great restaurant with Berlin charm. We'd be happy to go back anytime. Our requests were met; our child was served in a friendly and equal manner, and they were attentive to her needs (seasoning, flavor)—I haven't experienced anything like that in a long time. All in all, a fantastic restaurant. Authentic, honest, and great value for money with quality. The team is a team, and it shows; keep it up. Full of stars 🫰 Ate at Thomas-Eck today, beef roulade with dumplings, gravy, and red cabbage. There was hardly any wait time, I went there spontaneously and got a table without any problems. I came to this German cuisine restaurant because I had seen a video on YouTube on the Moodi Foodi Berlin channel. I was not disappointed for my first real meal in Berlin. Although I don't speak a word of German, I was very well received, the server communicated with me in English and made recommendations on the choice of dish and beers. I had the room to myself since it was a heatwave. The interior of the restaurant is superbly decorated. I ate very well and the beer was good. I was served quite quickly. I highly recommend this type of restaurant if you are passing through Berlin.

A great restaurant for good, hearty food. Whether it's blood sausage and liver sausage, aspic with fried potatoes, or a variety of schnitzels, all dishes are freshly prepared and delicious. Delicious draft beers are also served – Pilsner Urquell or Jever are preferable to Schultheiss (they even serve Kölsch). The prompt and friendly service, which leaves nothing to be desired, is also a pleasure, and thanks to the very reasonable prices, you can return here often if you're in the mood for hearty food and a down-to-earth dining experience.

Look at the delicious food. We ordered the pork knuckle and the black pudding and liver sausage. The pork knuckle was perfectly prepared and deliciously seasoned. The sauerkraut was also delicious. I haven't had such delicious black pudding and liver sausage in a long time. The service is also commendable. The prices are more than affordable. A great old Berlin restaurant. We'd love to come back here.

My wife had schnitzel with Belitzer asparagus, and I had the sausages. Both meals were top-notch. The mustard on the sausages was for the potatoes! Kudos to the butcher who made the sausages. The mustard would have ruined the flavor of the sausages! I'd love to come back next time I'm in Berlin.

We sat outside and had a great meal. Really good home-cooked food and relatively large portions. The lovely Ramona is a gem. The Pinot Gris was also very good. Highly recommended!

Yesterday's (evening) experience was the opposite of the first (lunch). Long wait for one of the three waiters to take our order (despite four empty tables around us). Greasy fried potatoes that smelled of fish. Salad with brown ends. Schnitzel was okay. Tarte flambée was burnt. Beer was good. Our first visit was far better. We've had good food here once, and not so good once.

We went there because of Blocki's recommendation. I'm not really into restaurants, as I equate them with a pub, but that's not the case here at Thomas Eck. We ordered pork knuckle, and it was incredibly delicious. And the pork knuckle was still good to eat the next day, since we couldn't manage to get it ready, so we took it with us.

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience here. As soon as we walked in looking for a table, three different waiters were unfriendly and treated us poorly. We felt so uncomfortable that we decided to leave without even sitting down. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on the service we received.

We were advised to try this place for German knuckle, they highly praised it. I will not go there again! The service is terrible, no one wanted to serve us, we had to go and order ourselves. The waiter came to other tables, but they avoided us (probably because we speak German very poorly). There were 4 of us, we ordered two dishes. When the dish was brought, no one asked how many people would eat, they served the dish on two plates and one more plate under them. The coffee was brought quickly, but they did not even offer sugar. We ordered a glass of beer, so we had to beg for it, they ignored the order. In general, we did not get any pleasure from the authentic German dish, it was cooked well, not raw, that's all I can say. And yes, why did I mention the plates, this service was included in the bill - 2.5 per plate. I do not recommend this place at all.

Great, friendly, and relaxed service. It's advisable to reserve a table for lunch. We were there on a whim and managed to snag a table at the counter. I had the bratwurst with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut from the weekly menu for €7.90. The meal came without sauce, which shocked me, as an absolute sauce freak, and I felt a brief moment of sadness. But this mashed potatoes reminded me so much of my childhood, and with the delicious bratwurst and smoky sauerkraut, a sauce would have been so unnecessary. I haven't been so enthusiastic about a meal in a long time. For dessert, we had Kaiserschmarrn with apple sauce and powdered sugar. By the way, they offer it with and without raisins. 😉 Personally, I found the Kaiserschmarrn too sweet, and I'll order it without powdered sugar next time. I'm already looking forward to going back soon, this time with a table reservation and the kids.

If you like Berlin corner pub culture (without cigarette smoke these days, of course), rustic decor, fast, friendly service with a Berlin accent, and honest German home cooking with generous portions at fair prices, then this is the place for you. We loved it and had a great time, enjoying truly delicious pork knuckle, schnitzel, and other dishes. We'll definitely be back and bring friends. Highly recommended! And you can even sit outside.

One of the very few remaining old Berlin restaurants where you can still enjoy good German cuisine. My meal (sauerbraten) was freshly prepared and tasted like "mother's." The service was very friendly and attentive. I'd be happy to return. Ole

The price/performance ratio is absolutely perfect. There's an inexpensive daily menu with "good, home-style German food." There's nothing wrong with that! There's a shortage of staff on Saturdays, but the two people there really give their all, but you do need patience and time. The food is brought out quickly. It's recommended to go to the cash register inside to pay. The outdoor seating is on two sides, so it can get a bit noisy from car traffic, passersby, and the Wednesday market until 1 p.m. and truck traffic until 2 p.m. on Saturdays while the food is being dismantled. We were very satisfied, apart from the time it took to order. But then you can relax and enjoy yourself. The portions are very large, so seniors should ask for a smaller portion (e.g., for the schnitzel).

I went shopping nearby and ended up at a nearby German restaurant. The price was good, beer/carbonated water/goulash/haksen cost 30 euros, and it was delicious and friendly.

I love Thomas-Eck! I particularly like Schnitzel Friday. Such a big portion for a small thaler! If you don't eat the mayo cup, you're doing something wrong!

Simply fantastic. If you want to enjoy traditional German cuisine, away from the usual tourist traps, this is certainly the place to go. Service is warm and friendly, the menu is extensive, the portions are HUGE, and the entire experience offers exceptional value for money. I had the Eisbein, which must have comprised the best part of half a pig. It was excellently cooked, and the accompanying vegetables complemented the star of the show. My only recommendation would be, if you are coming here for dinner, to skimp on lunch (or avoid it altogether!). Also, make sure you don't wear your tight-waistbanded trousers!

Written on April 24, 2025 It's situated on a beautiful little corner of Berlin. I was here mid-day on a Thursday. They were still a bit busy, and the minimal staff seemed to be hustling around. But not in a crazed or manic way. And my waitress couldn't have been sweeter. So, despite the wait, how can I complain..? It's now asparagus season in Germany. I ordered a dish with asparagus, potatoes, and a piece of schnitzel. And of course a Riesling. Everything went well. But, honestly, it was even better because of the general mood/mood. I was outside… People were laughing. A couple was speaking Italian, the day was sunny and (almost) warm. There is also a YouTube video you should all watch. That's why I'm here. Enjoy!!

This location has been around for over 100 years and has been a neighborhood pub staple since the 1930s. The saying is, as you might imagine, loose. The staff is very friendly and quick to serve. The ambience had a nostalgic impression and the food was perfect for me and my team. Everything is very clean, you can also sit outside or at the counter. Price and food go well together, the offering is completely sufficient. Table reservations are required if you visit there with friends. In my opinion one of the best pubs with a certain flair.

If you’re on the hunt for an authentic German eatery, look no further. A bit tucked away on the parallel street to the famous Kantstr., you’ll find real German comfort food. Eisbein, Schnitzel and goose (seasonal) are the top dishes to choose from, but be aware that the portions are huge.

I really like original Berlin bars. But we weren't liked here. At every table we were in the way, wordlessly pushed to the side but unwilling to sit down, driven out of the dining area at 2130 with the words “if you don't eat, go to the front”. I don't understand stress, but I don't understand the lack of hospitality or solution-oriented words despite friendly questions. It's a shame, but never again. Back to the onion fish.

Yes, very much, especially if you want to eat real German cuisine again (I like to eat sushi, Italian, Turkish, etc.) - but also German. Cozy atmosphere and again a great pork knuckle complete with sauerkraut & pea puree with bacon. The little leg was so big that I couldn't do everything. But also who I like Königsberger Klopse etc., this is the right place. The restaurant is highly recommended at reasonable prices.
