Had a really great meal at Zum Koreaner in Munich! I ordered the Yukgaejjang and some Kimchi, and both were spot on. The soup was rich and spicy, with super tender beef and loads of flavor—just the kind of thing you want on a chilly day. The kimchi was really the highlight, it was fresh and had a nice balance of sour and spice. The place has a cozy, down-to-earth vibe, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu. If you’re craving solid Korean food in Munich, this is a great spot!

I've tried many Korean restaurants in Munich, and the number has grown over the years. But here you always get solid, delicious, authentic Korean food. In other Korean restaurants, the food is so greasy and overpoweringly flavorful. I'm so grateful that there's still a restaurant in Munich that cooks traditional dishes so wonderfully delicious. I devoured two portions of pork belly. Now it's thundering a third time across the bowl. But it tastes so fantastic that I'll be back soon to devour this fantastic pork belly.

It was so nice to be able to eat really delicious Korean food in a foreign country. The owner was friendly and the stir-fried pork was especially delicious.

The owner himself was already a great restaurant. Seeing that the local Germans were enjoying it, we also felt even better and enjoyed it very much. I ordered some for tomorrow's breakfast and had it packed. Tomorrow, I'm planning to go to Salzburg to see Mozart's birthplace and the filming location of The Sound of Music, so I'm going to eat well and go today. I was able to get there quickly by tram from Munich Central Station, and the walk to the restaurant was full of local atmosphere, which was really nice. The sight of young people gathered together drinking beer was impressive, and the street view was beautiful, making it a perfect place for sightseeing. Thank you so much!

The food is excellent, with kimchi served with every dish, and the prices are very fair. Communication in German or English is difficult, but the owners are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, payment is cash only.

So, after 15 years of regular visits for the pork belly, a painful reassessment is now unfortunately necessary. I understand that prices have risen sharply during the coronavirus pandemic. But the fact that they first cut back on portions and then on quality is unacceptable in my opinion. It certainly can't be due to too few visitors; the place is regularly full and has a decent turnover. The minimalist, unassuming ambiance is only okay if you get a decent portion of inexpensive, delicious food. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. I can't really recommend it as it is right now.

I can't eat German food.. I've never eaten Korean food while traveling, but this is the first restaurant I've been to. You know the famous meme? It was really delicious. I felt really comfortable. And as expected from Bavaria, the meat in the kimchi stew was really delicious. There are two people who speak Korean, and you have to serve yourself, but that's a common culture in Korea.

Was there for pork belly – stayed for pork belly. The thing was so delicate, I briefly considered whether I should call him first name. Price-performance is solid: not free, but you get a lot for the money. Payment is made like grandma’s – in cash. Card payment? There isn't, and there's no WiFi either - the only thing that counts here is taste and your cash. The smell in the store? Let’s call it “authentic”. Mixture of deep fryer, kimchi and adventure. Close your nose and go through it – or just put the pork belly in, take a deep breath and belong.

I'm really surprised that they charge 13 euros for chewy and salty bulgogi with Southeast Asian rice. A reasonable price would be maybe 7 to 8 euros, but even for that I wouldn't want to eat it again. the quality is simply disappointing. Although it's a bit more expensive, next time I'll try another Korean restaurant nearby. I'm really disappointed.

I can't understand the good reviews at all! The worst Asian food I have ever eaten in Munich! Unfriendly staff, small portions and the soup was not edible. NEVER AGAIN!

I rarely write reviews but this experience was really disappointing. The value for money is abysmal - €10.50 for two small pieces of meat and a cold dish is simply not justified. In addition, the staff was unfriendly and unaccommodating. Unfortunately, absolutely not recommended.

When I feel like eating Korean food, I often go there and eat it. The stir-fried squid and stir-fried pork are both delicious, and the food is clean and plentiful, so I like it 😃

Took my parents here for lunch and hoped to get some good Korean food. Must say it was an end-to-end disappointing, even slightly upsetting experience. The welcome was cold and smile-free, I wasn’t quite sure whether German or English was the way to go but neither seemed to have been ok. Communication was abrupt and weird. The food was definitely below average. Not well seasoned, my fried tofu tasted more Chinese than Korean and the cucumbers didn’t even have sesame oil or anything on them. All the food items were underseasoned and just boring - served with a bit of annoyance. The general vibe of the please seemed really frustrated and annoyed with the world and customers. Lots of paggro signs, including a dodgy cash-only policy while also not accepting 1,2 and 5 cent pieces. So why not just accept cards then? I’ll include some pics of these signs that really made me feel unwelcome and as if the shop doesn’t really like its customers. Not coming back.

I've got bibimbap and gganpungie and they were just delicious!! their kimchi is good too:) the casher wasn't speaking english but my "mit Fleisch bitte" was good to go

Just came over with both kids (0 & 5), wanted to have a kebab but came here spontaneously. Food was great, absolutely uncomplicated. Put the stroller in the corner and it's fine. If there were only Asians at the meal, it confirmed to us again that it was the right choice.

2024 Update: Prices are now between €9-12 and portions have become smaller. There are new plates for that. The end of an era 🥲 but we remain loyal to the kimchi pork belly, it tastes 100% like in Korea 😍 and the gentleman who cooks there is always very nice. I like the restaurant very much. But you have to be prepared for the service to take a long time if you don't actively draw attention to yourself. Again and again. In my opinion, the food is worth it. And you shouldn't go to the theater or something like that afterwards, because you smell strongly of oil/grease after a visit. But in my opinion the food is worth it.

I happened to pass by and there were a lot of people there, but the food came really quickly and was freshly prepared. The food had lots of fresh vegetables, tasted really delicious (especially the kimchi) and was a really big portion. Top price/performance. All employees are very friendly. We come more often now :)

You can eat at 10 in the morning. A Korean man cooked the food and I enjoyed the kimchi stew and stir-fried pork. Cash only is accepted. Please give me a glass of water. The rice is from Southeast Asia, so some people say it is a bit uncomfortable. This is Traveling Raccoon TV.

I visited on a weekend and there were so many people. The moment I realized that German people like Korean food..!! The food tasted exactly the same as the one I had at a Korean restaurant and was very delicious. The owner was also nice and friendly. The side dishes that came with the stir-fried pork were sweet and sour, so they went well together. If you are a Korean who likes Korean food, I definitely recommend it!! (Only cash payment is possible, so bring cash)

The kimchi stew here is better than the kimchi stew you buy in Korea. The server was kind and attentive, and the food was absolutely incredible! Hands down the best kimchi jjigae in Europe!

It's really delicious. The owner is friendly and the store is very clean. The menu included kimchi stew, japchae rice, and kimchi fried rice, and they were all delicious. I want to try other menu items as well. I plan to go again the next time I stop by Munich. Until then, please be sure to do business.

I ordered kimchi stew, but I was shocked because there was very little meat. The size and amount of meat that you can't even eat with a fork, as if it's less than 1/3 of the amount served in Korea... I was embarrassed again because the boss was getting angry on the phone after receiving a phone call. As a Korean, when I go to a Korean restaurant, I'm expecting something like a warm atmosphere and a comfortable atmosphere, but it was so cold that I couldn't even say a word to my group. The good ratings seem to be due to foreigners. Koreans go to this place only to be disappointed. I usually don't leave reviews, but I'm leaving this because I'm afraid it may leave a bad impression about Korea. Please correct it.

I was really disappointed after eating Yukgaejang. I went hungry and thought it would be delicious to eat anything, but it was a plastic pot with no seasoning at all, and the rice was old. It was the worst Korean restaurant I've ever been to in Germany. I really don't think I'll ever go there again... .I hope you pay more attention to the sanitary conditions of the store.

A few days ago, I visited Munich because I really wanted to eat Korean food, and for the first time in a long time, I ate kimchi stew so delicious that it almost brought me to tears. The restaurant owners were also really friendly and I felt like I received a lot of affection from them!

I ordered kimchi fried rice! It felt like stir-fried kimchi + rice with meat, but it was so delicious!! 👍 Since I was in Germany, I wanted to eat kimchi, and the rice and kimchi stir-fry were both generous in quantity, so I ate as much as I wanted😋 The owners were also friendly:)

I really like the food here but I have a big request for the owner. Please change your to go and delivery service packaging. Everything leaks in the cardboard packaging and in the plastic packaging, if you order via Ubereats, the whole soup also leaks. Take a look at the picture. If the bag tears through and all the food ends up on the floor, no customer will be happy.

Unfortunately it got worse. They gave me an old soup. With a few leftover sprouts and two mini pieces of beef for just under 10 euros. Bad joke. Everything is completely oily. You used to be able to eat quite well there. Don't let food sit for a long time after taking a look and testing it once. Unfortunately prices and quality are miles away now.

Ordered 2 (clearly labeled) vegan dishes via Uber Eats, and one of them was delivered with beef. Called the place and at my second attempt, a woman picked up. After I explaoned everything, she said she's the cleaning lady, that she'll talk to someone and that I should call again. So I called, for the 3rd time and this stime a man picked up, had no idea what I was talking about and hung up on me. The correct dish was just OK. Won't order from here again.

This place is unfortunately not as good as it once was. The food was just not good anymore, lacked taste and appeal. Service was terrible, the guy working could hardly understand German or Engliah and, of course, orders came out wrongly. Mist dishes were prepped and didn't taste fresh.

The Korean food I ate for the first time in a long time while traveling in 2011 was delicious. The interior of the restaurant was clean and the exterior design was nice. I recommend that anyone who goes to Munich occasionally stop by. I am happy to see the old sign and the same appearance. I am lost in memories as I add a photo from 13 years ago. Guten Erfolg!

Best value for money ratio between Korean food and price. It won't be the original pork belly from Korea but for 9 euros it is worlds ahead of many dishes in the same price segment.

The taste was not that good even the ambience isn’t up to mark! Menu card is just a small piece of paper😅. Rates are comparatively low but still not worth the price.

Saptche bap only tastes like vegetable broth

I ordered delivery, but the delivery fee was very expensive. I had a coupon so I ordered it anyway. My friend, who usually sprinkles salt on salty German food, said that the bulgogi was too salty and that he couldn't eat it and that it didn't taste like Korean. Even when I ate it, it was still salty. I didn't know if it was the cabbage kimchi that came with it or something, but my friend said that the taste of this kimchi was strange, and when I ate it, it was with warm rice, so it tasted like it was about to die down, so I barely ate the rice or the cabbage. If you really need to add vegetables to your dish, it would be better to add a lot of onions to the bulgogi and stir-fry it, which complements the saltiness and makes it more delicious. The Kkanpunggi was not a Kkanpunggi at all. It felt like just chicken breast fried in flour at home and sprinkled with the common Asian sweet sour sauce. Of course, the ingredients for bibimbap were not Korean, and it contained bean sprouts and cucumbers, and the kimchi soup was mixed with the leftover side dish, which was a little odd, perhaps not seasoned with red pepper paste. I have a weak stomach because it felt like eating, so while I was eating, I told my friend to eat it all. I'm sorry, but I don't think I'll eat there again because I don't think there's much sincerity in the food and I think it's too expensive. More research is needed on food. I wonder if the person cooking came to Germany a long time ago. It definitely doesn't taste like Korea these days.

Totally limp meat, the sauce was tasteless. No spiciness, no pizzazz - just bad food. In retrospect, we were annoyed about the money we had spent.

“Zum Koreaner” is a small restaurant in Maxvorstadt. The selection is relatively large, the Korean dishes are prepared quickly and you don't have to wait long. The food is delicious, but the portions vary depending on the dish. The food must be picked up at the counter and brought back again. There is plenty of seating inside and also a few places outside. However, it doesn't invite you to linger comfortably. Good for a quick lunch :) Attention, only cash payment possible!

Fast, cheap, authentic, homemade, delicious chili sauce at the table/for purchase. The two best dishes, gangpungi and pork belly (spicy), are simply unbeatable and very generously portioned. The store is becoming more and more spruced up with new interior design and a new store sign. The old sign was weathered. What I want to say is that something is happening here and the owners are putting in a lot of effort. An absolute must. I always come back for dinner and always go home satisfied. (Insider tip: the Korean grape juice in the soft drink cabinet contains peeled, tender fruits and is fantastically sweet and refreshing)

They have two stuffs, one is ordering, the other one is cooking. (4) Price: most of the dishes are below 10 euro, I think it is already rare for Munich and especially for this location.
