Great kimchi jjigae, very affordable

We often eat Korean food and have to say that the food here was very tasty. If you're looking for a restaurant, this isn't the place; it's more of a snack bar with seating. There's no table service; you have to pick up your food at the counter. The portions could be a bit bigger, though.

We chose number 3, beef with rice. The beef was really tasty, but the rice was a bit cold, and for €13 I found the portion much too small; a few years ago it only cost €9.

The photo of fishermen smoking cigarettes while resting in the store and the photo of a child being carried on the grandfather's back were impressive. It reminded me of my late maternal grandfather.

Simple snack bar, very fair prices. The pork belly is always a 10/10 for me!! For vegetarians, I recommend the sapphe bap. For takeaway orders, it's best to bring your own container, otherwise you'll have to pay extra.

It's good because it's Korean food, but the Wi-Fi isn't great, so it's not worth traveling far from your accommodation. If your accommodation is nearby, it's a decent restaurant.

Cheap Korean dishes mimicking real Korean food with limited ingredients!

Rustic, deliciously authentic. Super tasty, long-standing. Solid, consistently good quality. I don't understand the 1* reviews.

It was okay, but I wasn't 100% thrilled. The service and staff were very friendly. Personally, I gave it a 3/5 in terms of taste. I found the dishes to be quite oily/greasy, and some were "too spicy."

While traveling, I was craving Korean food and was a little tired of it, so this was the perfect place to eat without worrying about quality or anything. I saw that famous meme and went there, but it was kimchi stew. LOL. I didn't quite understand why that meme was going around. It didn't taste good, so my companions and I were curious. I travel a lot and have been to quite a few Korean restaurants, but every time I went to one, I was always a little impressed. Perhaps because it was near a university and a bit cheaper, it felt like a good value. It's okay for backpackers or those who really want to feel the value. My personal recommendation is to try something a little more seasoned, like pork or japchae rice, rather than kimchi stew. It's hard to make it taste bad. ^^

The food was really delicious. 😋 The service wasn't that friendly, and there were way too many rules—it almost felt like the customers were a nuisance haha. 😒

It's been consistently good for decades. Of course, the prices have gone up a bit, but three people can eat their fill, including a drink, for €50, so you can't complain. The rice on the plate is a bit small compared to the sauce, but you get a free refill if you want it. The service is like you'd expect from Korea or China: fast and to the point, without unnecessary platitudes, but always helpful.

This place has definitely become worse. Chaotic ordering process meant my order was forgotten. The food is bland. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but with 5 items on the menu you need to guarantee they all taste good. Portions are relatively small, but I would forgive it if they tasted better. It's not difficult to make delicious Asian food. Sorry guys, but won't be coming back.

Ordered kimchi jigge. It didnt taste like a korean food, no side dishes, 3 small pieces of meat, too many kimchi, few tofus, watery rice…. Disappointed!

Absolutely outrageous and disrespectful to the wonderful Korean cuisine! I ordered bibimbap, and both on Wolt and here on Google, the pictures show it with beef fillet, as you would expect from bibimbap. However, it came with a tiny portion of ground beef, which was barely visible, let alone tasty.

We ordered lunch through Wolt. The food was delicious, but the portion sizes were very small. It was really too expensive (around €15). We could easily have eaten two portions.

It was my first time visiting the place, and I instantly fell in love with it. I’d happily recommend it to all my friends — it’s perfect when you want something quick, simple, but still comforting. The food tastes great, the price is fair, and the whole atmosphere just feels… right. I also like the photos on the wall — old fishing nets and faces of Korean people… I’m Chinese, and I’ve never been to Korea, but somehow those pictures also reminds me of my hometown, the smell of seaweed, river water, and the salty air on rainy days What I want to say is, I did read some comments saying, “It tastes like Chinese food,” “ it doesn’t taste like Chinese”but honestly, I don’t think that’s fair and nice to either culture. It tastes just like “ Zum Koreaner” — and that’s more than enough.

Warning! Current as of August 18, 2025. Smaller portions, can quickly become more expensive. The best BiBimPab in Maxvorstadt? I can't rate it, as it was my first, but the food is authentic, unfussy, and of the highest quality. A pleasant combination in a pleasant setting. Turn off your head. Pour on the sauce and dig in!

Super delicious food at fair prices!

There are no pictures because I was so busy eating. The two of us had stir-fried pork, bulgogi, and kimchi stew for 33 euros. The rice tasted like foreign rice that suited the locals' tastes, but it was okay. If you want a good value restaurant, definitely come here. Munich restaurants are expensive, but many locals also come here.

Good, affordable food with fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, a homeless person was in the restaurant during our visit. Unfortunately, the owners aren't doing anything about it; only cash payments are accepted. Addendum to comment: I very much appreciate it when homeless people are helped. However, my understanding ends when the smell of the food makes it impossible for me to eat their (really good) food.

...more than disappointing not to eat! Food: beyond words! The meat was sparse and bland. The rest lacked any flavor. Korean food is spicy, interesting, and relies on contrasts in texture, flavor, and spiciness. Nothing, absolutely nothing, applies here! Staff: incompetent, unmotivated, grumpy, taciturn. Atmosphere: tolerable, if the food quality were at least acceptable. Summary: NEVER AGAIN

The price is cost-effective, the taste is cost-effective, the service is cost-effective. I was abroad for a long time and suddenly remembered this Korean restaurant and came looking for it. It's the same taste I know, but it's neither more delicious nor worse. I don't think I'll visit again. And it's a Korean restaurant, but they use flying rice from Southeast Asia, so it was disappointing that the rice didn't have a chewy textureㅠㅜ

The dishes are more flavorful at other restaurants; you just have to spend a few euros more. The atmosphere is very simple, comparable to a cafeteria. The menu isn't very diverse.

The food is like a nostalgia trip to Korea of many years ago. If you sat in a little restaurant in Seoul in 2004, this is what you would have eaten. It's authentic and if that's your jam: it's delicious. Don't listen to the people saying it tastes more like chinese. Those are the same that claim "pocha" is authentic... pocha is deilicious, but very much adopted to European taste. If you want the real deal, try zum Koreaner.

A restaurant recognized by Koreans!!!! I didn't expect there to be a Korean restaurant like this near my accommodation, but the food is so so delicious, just like a restaurant in Korea. Especially, the kimchi doesn't taste like it's from abroad, but like it's from Korea. I have to try a different menu tomorrow. It's really the best!!!!!!💗

Had a really great meal at Zum Koreaner in Munich! I ordered the Yukgaejjang and some Kimchi, and both were spot on. The soup was rich and spicy, with super tender beef and loads of flavor—just the kind of thing you want on a chilly day. The kimchi was really the highlight, it was fresh and had a nice balance of sour and spice. The place has a cozy, down-to-earth vibe, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu. If you’re craving solid Korean food in Munich, this is a great spot!

I've tried many Korean restaurants in Munich, and the number has grown over the years. But here you always get solid, delicious, authentic Korean food. In other Korean restaurants, the food is so greasy and overpoweringly flavorful. I'm so grateful that there's still a restaurant in Munich that cooks traditional dishes so wonderfully delicious. Many thanks to the owners of this restaurant.

I devoured two portions of pork belly. Now it's thundering a third time across the bowl. But it tastes so fantastic that I'll be back soon to devour this fantastic pork belly.

It was so nice to be able to eat really delicious Korean food in a foreign country. The owner was friendly and the stir-fried pork was especially delicious.

The owner himself was already a great restaurant. Seeing that the local Germans were enjoying it, we also felt even better and enjoyed it very much. I ordered some for tomorrow's breakfast and had it packed. Tomorrow, I'm planning to go to Salzburg to see Mozart's birthplace and the filming location of The Sound of Music, so I'm going to eat well and go today. I was able to get there quickly by tram from Munich Central Station, and the walk to the restaurant was full of local atmosphere, which was really nice. The sight of young people gathered together drinking beer was impressive, and the street view was beautiful, making it a perfect place for sightseeing. Thank you so much!

The food is excellent, with kimchi served with every dish, and the prices are very fair. Communication in German or English is difficult, but the owners are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, payment is cash only.

So, after 15 years of regular visits for the pork belly, a painful reassessment is now unfortunately necessary. I understand that prices have risen sharply during the coronavirus pandemic. But the fact that they first cut back on portions and then on quality is unacceptable in my opinion. It certainly can't be due to too few visitors; the place is regularly full and has a decent turnover. The minimalist, unassuming ambiance is only okay if you get a decent portion of inexpensive, delicious food. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. I can't really recommend it as it is right now.

I can't eat German food.. I've never eaten Korean food while traveling, but this is the first restaurant I've been to. You know the famous meme? It was really delicious. I felt really comfortable. And as expected from Bavaria, the meat in the kimchi stew was really delicious. There are two people who speak Korean, and you have to serve yourself, but that's a common culture in Korea.

Was there for pork belly – stayed for pork belly. The thing was so delicate, I briefly considered whether I should call him first name. Price-performance is solid: not free, but you get a lot for the money. Payment is made like grandma’s – in cash. Card payment? There isn't, and there's no WiFi either - the only thing that counts here is taste and your cash. The smell in the store? Let’s call it “authentic”. Mixture of deep fryer, kimchi and adventure. Close your nose and go through it – or just put the pork belly in, take a deep breath and belong.

I'm really surprised that they charge 13 euros for chewy and salty bulgogi with Southeast Asian rice. A reasonable price would be maybe 7 to 8 euros, but even for that I wouldn't want to eat it again. the quality is simply disappointing. Although it's a bit more expensive, next time I'll try another Korean restaurant nearby. I'm really disappointed.

I can't understand the good reviews at all! The worst Asian food I have ever eaten in Munich! Unfriendly staff, small portions and the soup was not edible. NEVER AGAIN!

I rarely write reviews but this experience was really disappointing. The value for money is abysmal - €10.50 for two small pieces of meat and a cold dish is simply not justified. In addition, the staff was unfriendly and unaccommodating. Unfortunately, absolutely not recommended.

When I feel like eating Korean food, I often go there and eat it. The stir-fried squid and stir-fried pork are both delicious, and the food is clean and plentiful, so I like it 😃

This is the best Korean restaurant in Munich!! You said you made a slightly different recipe for stir-fried pork this time, but it was exactly the same as the one you eat in Korea!!!!! The prices are reasonable, the portions are plentiful, and the taste is good... It's a restaurant that many locals come to! If you come to Munich, please come here and try it...!!!!

Took my parents here for lunch and hoped to get some good Korean food. Must say it was an end-to-end disappointing, even slightly upsetting experience. The welcome was cold and smile-free, I wasn’t quite sure whether German or English was the way to go but neither seemed to have been ok. Communication was abrupt and weird. The food was definitely below average. Not well seasoned, my fried tofu tasted more Chinese than Korean and the cucumbers didn’t even have sesame oil or anything on them. All the food items were underseasoned and just boring - served with a bit of annoyance. The general vibe of the please seemed really frustrated and annoyed with the world and customers. Lots of paggro signs, including a dodgy cash-only policy while also not accepting 1,2 and 5 cent pieces. So why not just accept cards then? I’ll include some pics of these signs that really made me feel unwelcome and as if the shop doesn’t really like its customers. Not coming back.

A cute little shop. Rather lowkey and atypical for Munich, but very refreshing. The older lady at the checkout was very welcoming and even gave me soup on the house after I didn't have enough cash. I'll happily come back for an uncomplicated quick lunch :)

I've got bibimbap and gganpungie and they were just delicious!! their kimchi is good too:) the casher wasn't speaking english but my "mit Fleisch bitte" was good to go

Just came over with both kids (0 & 5), wanted to have a kebab but came here spontaneously. Food was great, absolutely uncomplicated. Put the stroller in the corner and it's fine. If there were only Asians at the meal, it confirmed to us again that it was the right choice.

2024 Update: Prices are now between €9-12 and portions have become smaller. There are new plates for that. The end of an era 🥲 but we remain loyal to the kimchi pork belly, it tastes 100% like in Korea 😍 and the gentleman who cooks there is always very nice. I like the restaurant very much. But you have to be prepared for the service to take a long time if you don't actively draw attention to yourself. Again and again. In my opinion, the food is worth it. And you shouldn't go to the theater or something like that afterwards, because you smell strongly of oil/grease after a visit. But in my opinion the food is worth it.

I happened to pass by and there were a lot of people there, but the food came really quickly and was freshly prepared. The food had lots of fresh vegetables, tasted really delicious (especially the kimchi) and was a really big portion. Top price/performance. All employees are very friendly. We come more often now :)

You can eat at 10 in the morning. A Korean man cooked the food and I enjoyed the kimchi stew and stir-fried pork. Cash only is accepted. Please give me a glass of water. The rice is from Southeast Asia, so some people say it is a bit uncomfortable. This is Traveling Raccoon TV.

I visited on a weekend and there were so many people. The moment I realized that German people like Korean food..!! The food tasted exactly the same as the one I had at a Korean restaurant and was very delicious. The owner was also nice and friendly. The side dishes that came with the stir-fried pork were sweet and sour, so they went well together. If you are a Korean who likes Korean food, I definitely recommend it!! (Only cash payment is possible, so bring cash)

The kimchi stew here is better than the kimchi stew you buy in Korea. The server was kind and attentive, and the food was absolutely incredible! Hands down the best kimchi jjigae in Europe!

I ordered kimchi stew, but I was shocked because there was very little meat. The size and amount of meat that you can't even eat with a fork, as if it's less than 1/3 of the amount served in Korea... I was embarrassed again because the boss was getting angry on the phone after receiving a phone call. As a Korean, when I go to a Korean restaurant, I'm expecting something like a warm atmosphere and a comfortable atmosphere, but it was so cold that I couldn't even say a word to my group. The good ratings seem to be due to foreigners. Koreans go to this place only to be disappointed. I usually don't leave reviews, but I'm leaving this because I'm afraid it may leave a bad impression about Korea. Please correct it.

I was really disappointed after eating Yukgaejang. I went hungry and thought it would be delicious to eat anything, but it was a plastic pot with no seasoning at all, and the rice was old. It was the worst Korean restaurant I've ever been to in Germany. I really don't think I'll ever go there again... .I hope you pay more attention to the sanitary conditions of the store.
