Delicious chicken, friendly service – but pricing raises questions Occasionally, we get the urge for a really good, juicy chicken – and that's how we ended up at "Halber Hahn." The beer garden was inviting, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service extremely friendly – ​​something you unfortunately don't experience everywhere these days. The food was well prepared, the chicken juicy, the side dish (fries with gravy) solid – overall, a well-rounded meal. One thing that did irritate us, however, was the pricing: For the same meal, you pay significantly less (about a €5 difference) for the to-go option. This left us with a slightly uneasy feeling, especially since the ambiance on site was nice, but didn't offer any particular "extra charge" atmosphere. All in all, it was delicious, and the visit was okay – but next time we'd probably just take the chicken to go and enjoy it outside in peace and quiet.

The restaurant is clean and tidy. The service is friendly, and the wait times are reasonable. The breaded chicken schnitzel is advertised as having a golden brown coating. Instead, you get a dark yellow mass reminiscent of frozen food or convenience food. The schnitzel was also quite thick. The fries were great. Perfectly seasoned. So were the salads. The schnitzel was unfortunately a disappointment. The rest of the food was overall as expected. Price-wise, I'd consider it average for a tourist destination.

Cozy, delicious, and highly recommended! "Zum Halben Hahn" is a true gem in Oberstdorf. The food was excellent and deliciously prepared. The half chicken with garlic sauce is a must-try. The ingredients taste fresh, and the portions are more than fair. The service was also friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back!

We only had a drink because we had just had a late breakfast. But the staff was very friendly. What annoyed me was an older gentleman who bought half a chicken and then asked how much it cost. After an employee answered, the older gentleman said: "You can get it at Lidl for €4.50." Unbelievable, so he should just buy it at Lidl. The employee also explained that the chickens are on the rotisserie for about two hours. I can't understand people like that. And then there are the running costs, etc. In any case, the kitchen smelled delicious, and we'll be back for dinner one of these days.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed when we saw the "chef" pull out a huge bucket of ready-made potato salad. Unfortunately, the schnitzel didn't look freshly prepared either, but rather frozen. The plastic bag gave us a hint of what was inside. The service was friendly. However, we'll avoid this restaurant and prefer somewhere where proper cooking is still done.

There were two of us and we each ordered a Caesar salad. This was the worst salad we had ever eaten in a restaurant. A short and small cut green salad, which was reminiscent of cold vegetables, with 3 half cocktail tomatoes. The size of a side salad. To charge €11.90 for this is a disgrace. At least it was somewhat tasty. Plus point: The service was very friendly and the outdoor area is large and relatively quiet. We certainly won't go there again.

Out of 5 days in Oberstdorf we ate there 4 times. From soup, chicken, burgers to schnitzel, everything tasted great. Service is super friendly. The terrace with the play area for the children was also great. We will definitely be guests again in the summer.

During my stay in Oberstdorf I visited this restaurant twice. The first time I chose the cordon bleu, the second time I chose the chicken gyro. Both dishes were excellently prepared, although the gyros didn't quite meet my personal taste - but that's a matter of taste, of course. The service was excellent both evenings, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Next time I would try the pick-up service as the prices for take-away food are significantly cheaper.

Half chicken with sweet chili was super tasty

The two of us ate here and were completely satisfied. There was once the chicken special with delicious barbecue sauce and the hut schnitzel. Both were very tasty and the service was also very friendly. We will definitely come back on our next vacation.

This former Vienna Woods now, deservedly, finally has a new owner who grills very tasty farm chickens from the Hermine Wech Gewickel GmbH brand from Austria. The chickens therefore have their price (6.90 for half a grilled chicken on the street + 1 euro extra per topping), but I'm happy to pay more for this tastier quality. It doesn't always have to be the cheap Paul-Heinz Wesjohann torture chickens from the Wiesenhof brand. As far as I could see, the service rooms and kitchen are now very clean. I wish you much success for the future! However, there is a two-star deduction for the fact that the company vacation from March 20th, 2023 to March 30th, 2023 was not communicated anywhere, not even on the homepage. So today, March 23rd, 2023, I came from a distance especially for a barbecue chicken in vain and only found an abandoned restaurant. The company holiday was noted on a chalkboard just at the entrance. But that didn't help anymore, because I would have liked to have known that BEFORE I arrived and not only when I was there!!!!! Yesterday I was at Zum Halben Hahn. Was sitting outside when the weather was nice. Nice terrace where there isn't as much hustle and bustle as there is in town. I ordered pan gyros. Food came relatively quickly. On the plate were fries, some coleslaw and the gyro-flavored chicken. I really enjoyed it and it was so plentiful that I couldn't eat it all. I would eat here again at any time.

Pro: The food was delicious!!! The service was very nice and tried hard. I liked the ambience with lots of wood, but it's a matter of taste. Cons: At the beginning we had to move around again because the table was totally wobbling (an absolute no-go for me), even though a napkin was already stuck under one of the table legs. Since the restaurant was reasonably busy and the waiter was the only one with another waiter, everything took a long time. We had to wait "forever" before we could pay. Conclusion: Even if the price is slightly (!) high, I would eat there again because it tasted really good. - But decide for yourself!

Were looking for something to eat. Then we suddenly felt like eating a burger. So get in there. The terrace around the corner was already full. So we took a seat on the terrace at the front. Had to bring some time with us as there was already a lot going on. No problem for us. Since we're on vacation. Staff was definitely very friendly. Drinks and food came at some point. And we enjoyed our burgers. One beef for the man and one chicken for the woman. Both were very tasty. And we were happy. Just take a look. Eat your way through the menu. And enjoy it. Have fun!

Very strange that after almost 6 years, bad reviews are being challenged because supposedly "no one has been proven Customer contact" would have taken place. But Google Maps still remembers that I was there at the time.

Service was good, chicken was delicious and tasty, but the fries were inedible.

Ordered Jägerschnitzel. The schnitzel consisted of an approximately 2mm thick slice of chicken breast and a 4mm thick layer of breading. Top with a white industrial sauce with a few slices of mushrooms. The whole thing didn't taste like chicken at all and the whole thing for €17.90. Never again!

The food was really good, the service was very nice and the decor was very nice. Points are deducted for excessive prices.
