This former Vienna Woods now, deservedly, finally has a new owner who grills very tasty farm chickens from the Hermine Wech Gewickel GmbH brand from Austria. The chickens therefore have their price (6.90 for half a grilled chicken on the street + 1 euro extra per topping), but I'm happy to pay more for this tastier quality. It doesn't always have to be the cheap Paul-Heinz Wesjohann torture chickens from the Wiesenhof brand. As far as I could see, the service rooms and kitchen are now very clean. I wish you much success for the future! However, there is a two-star deduction for the fact that the company vacation from March 20th, 2023 to March 30th, 2023 was not communicated anywhere, not even on the homepage. So today, March 23rd, 2023, I came from a distance especially for a barbecue chicken in vain and only found an abandoned restaurant. The company holiday was noted on a chalkboard just at the entrance. But that didn't help anymore, because I would have liked to have known that BEFORE I arrived and not only when I was there!!!!! Great insider tip. It still has the same supplier as the Vienna Woods back then. The half chickens are a must and taste delicious, no matter which variant. We chose the one with garlic - it tastes simply sensational. Prices are reasonable. Thank you! See you next time Time in Oberstdorf

Yesterday I was at Zum Halben Hahn. Was sitting outside when the weather was nice. Nice terrace where there isn't as much hustle and bustle as there is in town. I ordered pan gyros. Food came relatively quickly. On the plate were fries, some coleslaw and the gyro-flavored chicken. I really enjoyed it and it was so plentiful that I couldn't eat it all. I would eat here again at any time.

Pro: The food was delicious!!! The service was very nice and tried hard. I liked the ambience with lots of wood, but it's a matter of taste. Cons: At the beginning we had to move around again because the table was totally wobbling (an absolute no-go for me), even though a napkin was already stuck under one of the table legs. Since the restaurant was reasonably busy and the waiter was the only one with another waiter, everything took a long time. We had to wait "forever" before we could pay. Conclusion: Even if the price is slightly (!) high, I would eat there again because it tasted really good. - But decide for yourself!

After a long day of hiking, I was looking forward to a delicious meal. And my joy was not disappointed. Very nice restaurant with delicious food (beef burger with fries and salad).

Were looking for something to eat. Then we suddenly felt like eating a burger. So get in there. The terrace around the corner was already full. So we took a seat on the terrace at the front. Had to bring some time with us as there was already a lot going on. No problem for us. Since we're on vacation. Staff was definitely very friendly. Drinks and food came at some point. And we enjoyed our burgers. One beef for the man and one chicken for the woman. Both were very tasty. And we were happy. Just take a look. Eat your way through the menu. And enjoy it. Have fun!

Very strange that after almost 6 years, bad reviews are being challenged because supposedly "no one has been proven Customer contact" would have taken place. But Google Maps still remembers that I was there at the time.

Service was good, chicken was delicious and tasty, but the fries were inedible.

Ordered Jägerschnitzel. The schnitzel consisted of an approximately 2mm thick slice of chicken breast and a 4mm thick layer of breading. Top with a white industrial sauce with a few slices of mushrooms. The whole thing didn't taste like chicken at all and the whole thing for €17.90. Never again!

A traditional Vienna Woods like before, but the concept has also been made more modern. The Bulgarian hosts bring very good traditional Bulgarian cuisine into their concept (just ask). Both as residents and now as classic “tourists”, the “Halbe Hahn” is a must in Oberstdorf. Simply brilliant and the quality is always top!!! We were greeted and served very friendly even without a reservation. Very accommodating and we were able to change our order for a dish without any problems. The food was delicious - we will go there again!!!! The side salad was also very flavorful!

We had to wait 20 minutes before we could place our order. Instead of a beer, we received an Alster. The outside lights above us constantly flickered. Our food came relatively quickly after we ordered. Schnitzel with 9 mushrooms and fries. The taste is good and warm. Organization was very poor, as everyone at the tables was asked several times whether they had already ordered. Parking space available. Friendly staff. Prices very high.

Update from April 5th, 2024 The restaurant is now trying to have my review deleted by complaining to Google. Luckily, thanks to the history of the location, it can be clearly proven that we were in this Reatautant at the time. Nice attempt to get rid of bad but fair reviews. Waited 15 minutes to be able to order. Staff unfriendly. They probably didn't want to be served outside anymore in the best weather. If you don't want our money, you won't get it!

We have already taken food from the street vendor twice and the food was great. The Grillhändl was super tasty, the potato wedges were crispy (despite a 10-minute walk), the salad was very fresh and with great ingredients. Even the coleslaw tasted good. Absolute recommendation 😊

We got something from the snack bar twice. Both times it was super tasty, especially the half grilled chicken is recommended. But the mixed salad was also fresh and the side dishes (wedges and coleslaw) were very large! Uncomplicated ordering in advance by phone.
