Large portions and still delicious

Making a reservation for lunch on the same day for dinner was no problem. We ordered: a gourmet skillet, sausages with fries (the kids' option), spinach dumplings, and grilled sausages with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. There were four of us, including a toddler. The food and drinks arrived very quickly. The grilled sausages were ordered with fried potatoes and a side salad instead of mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. We were charged the price of the dish plus €2 each for changing the two sides. The gourmet skillet tasted good. However, for €25, it was quite small, and the food looked a bit sad in the pan. I only felt somewhat full with an extra side salad. The other two dishes were good. Our child had to go to bed, so it was just the two of us sitting at the small table for four to finish our drinks. Two more people were immediately seated with us. The grilled skillet was tasty. However, for €25, it was quite small, and the food looked a bit sad in the pan. In conclusion: Service was good, food was okay, and the atmosphere was okay. You can tell they're part of a production chain and everything is meant to be quick. If I wanted a leisurely meal and drinks, I'd go somewhere else. If you need something fast, then the Wilde Männle is a good choice, provided you stick to the menu exactly and aren't that hungry.

First off: Everything was great, hence 5 stars. Definitely book in advance! We were a little taken aback at first. The restaurant is really large and correspondingly lively. We were worried we'd fallen into a tourist trap. But the service is excellent. Quick, they check in briefly every now and then to see if we're satisfied or if we need anything else. Always approachable, but without being intrusive. And if we want more of the delicious sauce, it's brought immediately at no extra charge. Fantastic. The food is very good. A wide selection with something for everyone. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and everything fits together perfectly. However, it is really large and crowded, and therefore quite noisy. There was also live music. You can still have a conversation, but it's not exactly quiet and cozy. Otherwise, everything is great and we'll definitely be back. Thank you very much.

Everything was perfect. The food arrived super fast and it was all very tasty and appetizing. We would especially like to highlight Ibo's excellent service.

I had the lunch special. It consisted of a small half-trout and a small handful of rice. Nothing substantial. They should rename it the children's menu. Then you know what to expect.

To be honest, this is, as far as I can remember, the first restaurant I can wholeheartedly rate 5 stars in every category. Staff: Excellent, especially the friendly gentleman who greeted us and showed us to our table. Very courteous and exceptionally funny. Atmosphere: Simply put, rustic, tidy, and well-kept. Food: Absolutely fantastic. Very fresh food of excellent quality. Perfectly cooked meat, superb spaetzle, and a truly delicious sauce. Value for money: In two words, top-notch! Attentive service; orders are easily changed for an extra charge. Generous portions. We highly recommend the pork knuckle, red cabbage, potato dumplings, Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle), and Kaiserschmarren (shredded pancake). Things to know: Reservations are essential during peak season; parking can be difficult.

We ate here with our two children and were completely satisfied. However, making a reservation is highly recommended, especially on weekends. The food was delicious, the portions were generously sized, and the children's meals in particular were more than ample for a fair price. The service was quick and exceptionally friendly. We'll be back!

We ordered two snack platters there. The portions were ample and delicious! However, I'm deducting one point because of the bread. It didn't taste very fresh, but rather slightly dry. I also deducted another point for the service, as it was very cold outside and, despite asking, the waiter said the patio heaters couldn't be turned on. That's a real shame, as I can't really see the point of them. I can't say much about the ambiance, as I only went in to use the restroom. But what I did see was typically Bavarian. We'll definitely be back!

We were absolutely thrilled with the Wildes Männle restaurant in Oberstdorf. The food was excellent and arrived incredibly quickly – top quality without a long wait. The service was efficient, super friendly, and attentive. We especially appreciated that the children were also catered for: coloring supplies and lollipops really engaged them and brought smiles to their faces. A thoroughly enjoyable visit – we'll definitely be back!

My girlfriend and I wanted to try out the Wilde Männle restaurant on the last evening of our short break, as the reviews were mostly positive. We were greeted warmly and immediately offered a table, and our drink order was taken very quickly; we received our refreshments without much of a wait. Unfortunately, after that, no waiter came to our table at all. The neighboring tables were being served diligently; at times, there were up to four servers in our section of the restaurant. Everyone was serving, coming and going, but we were completely forgotten. We received absolutely no attention. After 15-20 minutes without any sign of us, we asked for the bill. The waiter who then took our drinks apologized profusely and explained that the servers had apparently relied on each other to have already taken orders. It was apparently a lack of communication among the staff. 🤷 Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food, as we didn't get a chance to eat. 🤷

A cozy, original, traditional inn. The reservation went perfectly, the food was delicious for all six of us, and the welcome and service were exceptionally friendly!

We reserved a table and indicated we would be bringing our dog. Unfortunately, we weren't informed that all guests with dogs would be seated in a separate room where the dogs had to sit close together, which naturally caused some disruption. Furthermore, the service left much to be desired. Then, shortly after our plates were cleared, we wanted to order dessert, only to be told that the kitchen had already closed. One wonders why this wasn't communicated to us while they were clearing our plates, as the kitchen was still open at that point. The food was okay, tasty, but nothing special.

The salad was tasteless, the raw vegetables dry and raw. The beef and turkey medallions were dry and tough. The cream sauce had large lumps of flour – where was the cream? And it was all lukewarm! The food isn't even worth one star! It's a complete tourist trap.

The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. Everything tasted fantastic. The portions were just the right size – not too big, not too small. While the prices aren't the lowest, they reflect the quality. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Oberstdorf.

Finally, a truly authentic German restaurant where a reservation is practically a must! We were lucky since there were two of us. The waitstaff, dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing, are happy to answer any questions and are very attentive. The food arrives quickly, and the prices are reasonable. Furthermore, they offer either live music, Oktoberfest-style, or music via a media player. We'll definitely be back after our next hike.

The place is very beautiful and cozy, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the cleanliness is excellent. 👌 The service is great, and the staff are very helpful. 🌟 We tried the macaroni and cheese dish and the fried beef steak with potatoes, but honestly, and purely for personal taste, the German flavor didn't suit us. Nevertheless, the overall experience was great, and the place is worth a visit, especially for lovers of German cuisine. 🇩🇪

We stumbled upon the Wilde Männle by chance because we absolutely wanted to eat Kaiserschmarrn on our last day of departure, but it ended up being more than just that! On this sunny October day, we sat outside with our baby. They immediately greeted us warmly and asked if we needed a high chair – super thoughtful! Our favorites were definitely the Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) and the Feinschckerpfännle (gourmet pan with sauce), simply delicious! The Kaiserschmarrn wasn't bad, but a bit too moist for my taste. I'm sure many people like it, but it wasn't quite mine. A must-try!

Well-organized Bavarian restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly service, excellent food, and suitable for larger groups.

We went there once during our vacation. The food was fantastic, and the service was also very friendly. A tip: it's best to reserve a table online before your vacation; when we were there, it was so busy that we couldn't have found a seat without a reservation. Instead, we were able to simply walk past the people waiting because we had a reservation.

We had a delicious dinner here. The waiters were super friendly and could practically read our minds. The food was truly delicious and the portions were generous. The dining room was beautifully decorated and had the typical pub style. It was truly a great experience.

We've been going to Oberstdorf for at least twenty years, and we always go to "zum wilde Männle" at least once. Now it's time for a very positive review. I can highly recommend it; whether it's the pork knuckle or the gourmet pan, the food is amazing 👍, the service is courteous, attentive, and super friendly. Live music is often played, almost daily. A true Oberstdorf institution that's well worth a visit. Advance reservations are recommended; it's always very busy.

A rustic Bavarian restaurant with traditional fare. We were there for dinner with about 50 people, and the waiters and waitresses were really on their toes. Everything was quick and professional. No one was left hanging for long. Starters and main courses arrived very quickly and one after the other. I had the goulash, which was unfortunately too dry for me, with red cabbage and bread dumplings. The side dishes were amazing. At just under €19 and considering the portion size, it's on the higher end of the price range. We had authentic Bavarian folk music from a squeezebox with our meal. Overall, it was a successful evening, but I've had better. Still worth a visit.

We always stop here after our hikes, but also in the evening for dinner. We ate delicious "Kisserschmarren" (a kind of pancake with fried potatoes) and sausage salad, as well as fresh knuckle of pork and sauerkraut. It was a dream. The staff is very friendly and always on the ball. We'd be happy to come back.

We sat in the beer garden on October 7. The noise level inside was very loud, so we sat outside. The Kaiserschmarren (sweet pancakes) was also very good.

The food at Zum wilden Männl was really delicious! I liked that you can choose between a small or large portion – and the prices are fair for both. The staff were super friendly and attentive, which made the visit even nicer. You should definitely book a table in advance, as it can get quite busy – otherwise you might have to share a table with someone (which can actually be fun!). Totally recommend this place!

Getting a table can be difficult at times, as so many people want to eat here. If it's very busy, you might have to share a table with strangers. Every employee here is friendly and does their job very well. The ambiance is nice, and you can even bring your dog. What I didn't like so much: It felt a bit like a rushed-off place. Everyone was served very quickly (which isn't a bad thing), and the food came very quickly (which isn't a bad thing either), but we somehow had the impression that everyone had to finish quickly so that the next person could take the table. (This is my impression and may not be accurate. Feel free to form your own opinion.) The food and beer were excellent.

A large restaurant with a rustic atmosphere in the heart of Oberstdorf's town center. We went there for the small selection of vegan dishes; the cabbage fritters were unfortunately a bit dry. I had the goulash, which was truly fantastic. I just found the red cabbage much too sweet; it could have done with much less sugar, especially for an otherwise hearty meal. The beer was good, and the service was friendly and fast. There's no great mountain panorama, and the fact that smoking is permitted at every table outside, and there's no smoke-free area, somewhat dampens the enjoyment.

Unfortunately, we were greeted very unfriendly, or rather not at all, and since we hadn't made a reservation, we were more or less treated as unwelcome.

The white sausage breakfast was a great deal! Because of that, we'll be back next time and try something else from the menu. The food at the neighboring tables also looked good. Unfortunately, we were there on our last day in Oberstdorf. Incidentally, it's the only one of the seven restaurants in Oberstdorf that we'll be visiting again!

The price-performance ratio isn't right. I had to hunt for the mushrooms in my mushroom dish. There was a lot of sauce, though. We were there around 5 p.m., and the noise level was still acceptable. Friendly service.

Rustic restaurant with good food. Decent value for money.

Unbelievably bad! We weren't even allowed in for beer and food. We wanted to politely ask if we could wait at the bar to get a table later. We were immediately treated very rudely, as the bar was for waiting guests who had reserved tables. Surprising, since they had said on the phone that reservations weren't possible... The man at the bar was rude in his tone and demeanor, even impertinent in my opinion. I visit Oberstdorf often and will not go to this restaurant again, and can only advise everyone against it until they have learned some hospitality there. But it seems to be a trend. On another evening, we went to the Relax Bistro, which is part of the group. The staff there were rude as well.

Anyone who enjoys hearty food will definitely leave satisfied. 😊 If you still have room in your stomach, you should definitely try the Kaiserschmarren (also available in a small version). We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, we discovered that the food served was no longer hot. It was returned without any problems. Unfortunately, the replacement food was even colder. To be fair, we didn't charge for the meal. Otherwise, we enjoyed our meal and the service was very friendly.
