Zum Wilde Männle in Oberstdorf

A cozy, original, traditional inn. The reservation went perfectly, the food was delicious for all six of us, and the welcome and service were exceptionally friendly!

We reserved a table and indicated we would be bringing our dog. Unfortunately, we weren't informed that all guests with dogs would be seated in a separate room where the dogs had to sit close together, which naturally caused some disruption. Furthermore, the service left much to be desired. Then, shortly after our plates were cleared, we wanted to order dessert, only to be told that the kitchen had already closed. One wonders why this wasn't communicated to us while they were clearing our plates, as the kitchen was still open at that point. The food was okay, tasty, but nothing special.

I was here for the second time today. The food was really delicious and fresh, the staff very polite and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. The beer was also excellent, of course 👍 Everything was top-notch again in 2025. Thank you :-)

A very nice restaurant with friendly and fast service. The food and drinks were excellent. A pleasant beer garden and a cozy interior. Because of this, it was also very busy.

The salad was tasteless, the raw vegetables dry and raw. The beef and turkey medallions were dry and tough. The cream sauce had large lumps of flour – where was the cream? And it was all lukewarm! The food isn't even worth one star! It's a complete tourist trap.

Delicious German cuisine. We were there on Friday evening and were lucky enough to get a table for two without a reservation. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. There was also live music from a duo. The restaurant is centrally located in Oberstdorf. We'd gladly return.

The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. Everything tasted fantastic. The portions were just the right size – not too big, not too small. While the prices aren't the lowest, they reflect the quality. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Oberstdorf.

Finally, a truly authentic German restaurant where a reservation is practically a must! We were lucky since there were two of us. The waitstaff, dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing, are happy to answer any questions and are very attentive. The food arrives quickly, and the prices are reasonable. Furthermore, they offer either live music, Oktoberfest-style, or music via a media player. We'll definitely be back after our next hike.

Excellent quality, and we received quick and friendly service. Unfortunately, the onion roast beef was a bit (too) small. We were hungry after our hike, and the portion was definitely not enough. Therefore, one star deducted.

The place is very beautiful and cozy, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the cleanliness is excellent. 👌 The service is great, and the staff are very helpful. 🌟 We tried the macaroni and cheese dish and the fried beef steak with potatoes, but honestly, and purely for personal taste, the German flavor didn't suit us. Nevertheless, the overall experience was great, and the place is worth a visit, especially for lovers of German cuisine. 🇩🇪

We stumbled upon the Wilde Männle by chance because we absolutely wanted to eat Kaiserschmarrn on our last day of departure, but it ended up being more than just that! On this sunny October day, we sat outside with our baby. They immediately greeted us warmly and asked if we needed a high chair – super thoughtful! Our favorites were definitely the Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) and the Feinschckerpfännle (gourmet pan with sauce), simply delicious! The Kaiserschmarrn wasn't bad, but a bit too moist for my taste. I'm sure many people like it, but it wasn't quite mine. A must-try!

We had a delicious dinner here. The waiters were super friendly and could practically read our minds. The food was truly delicious and the portions were generous. The dining room was beautifully decorated and had the typical pub style. It was truly a great experience.

We went there once during our vacation. The food was fantastic, and the service was also very friendly. A tip: it's best to reserve a table online before your vacation; when we were there, it was so busy that we couldn't have found a seat without a reservation. Instead, we were able to simply walk past the people waiting because we had a reservation.

October 7, 2025. 6-7 p.m. While we were happy that Männle is LGBTQ-friendly, we were rather disappointed with the service. Our second beer never arrived, and the waiter didn't show up again until we paid. The food was really good.

Everything was good except that the food was cold to begin with! But after we asked, our food was heated up.

Friendly servers who are very prompt. The food is delicious and excellent value for money. Advance reservations are definitely recommended; otherwise, getting a seat at this great restaurant during peak evening hours is a matter of luck.

The food was very tasty and good, but there wasn't much choice for the main course. And a tip: It's better to reserve a table in advance, otherwise everything gets full in the afternoon and evening.

We've been going to Oberstdorf for at least twenty years, and we always go to "zum wilde Männle" at least once. Now it's time for a very positive review. I can highly recommend it; whether it's the pork knuckle or the gourmet pan, the food is amazing 👍, the service is courteous, attentive, and super friendly. Live music is often played, almost daily. A true Oberstdorf institution that's well worth a visit. Advance reservations are recommended; it's always very busy.

A rustic Bavarian restaurant with traditional fare. We were there for dinner with about 50 people, and the waiters and waitresses were really on their toes. Everything was quick and professional. No one was left hanging for long. Starters and main courses arrived very quickly and one after the other. I had the goulash, which was unfortunately too dry for me, with red cabbage and bread dumplings. The side dishes were amazing. At just under €19 and considering the portion size, it's on the higher end of the price range. We had authentic Bavarian folk music from a squeezebox with our meal. Overall, it was a successful evening, but I've had better. Still worth a visit.

We always stop here after our hikes, but also in the evening for dinner. We ate delicious "Kisserschmarren" (a kind of pancake with fried potatoes) and sausage salad, as well as fresh knuckle of pork and sauerkraut. It was a dream. The staff is very friendly and always on the ball. We'd be happy to come back.

We sat in the beer garden on October 7. The noise level inside was very loud, so we sat outside. The Kaiserschmarren (sweet pancakes) was also very good.

The pan was sturdy, but not a highlight. The mushrooms in the sauce were unfortunately canned and not fresh. The delicious Kaiserschmarrn saves another star. Service was excellent.

My husband and I spent a wonderful evening there on Monday, celebrating my birthday. The two musicians serenaded me. It was fantastic! Thanks again. The food was so delicious, and the service was friendly and efficient. We'll definitely be back.

The food at Zum wilden Männl was really delicious! I liked that you can choose between a small or large portion – and the prices are fair for both. The staff were super friendly and attentive, which made the visit even nicer. You should definitely book a table in advance, as it can get quite busy – otherwise you might have to share a table with someone (which can actually be fun!). Totally recommend this place!

Getting a table can be difficult at times, as so many people want to eat here. If it's very busy, you might have to share a table with strangers. Every employee here is friendly and does their job very well. The ambiance is nice, and you can even bring your dog. What I didn't like so much: It felt a bit like a rushed-off place. Everyone was served very quickly (which isn't a bad thing), and the food came very quickly (which isn't a bad thing either), but we somehow had the impression that everyone had to finish quickly so that the next person could take the table. (This is my impression and may not be accurate. Feel free to form your own opinion.) The food and beer were excellent.

The white sausage breakfast was a great deal! Because of that, we'll be back next time and try something else from the menu. The food at the neighboring tables also looked good. Unfortunately, we were there on our last day in Oberstdorf. Incidentally, it's the only one of the seven restaurants in Oberstdorf that we'll be visiting again!

Food was very good and priced top

A large restaurant with a rustic atmosphere in the heart of Oberstdorf's town center. We went there for the small selection of vegan dishes; the cabbage fritters were unfortunately a bit dry. I had the goulash, which was truly fantastic. I just found the red cabbage much too sweet; it could have done with much less sugar, especially for an otherwise hearty meal. The beer was good, and the service was friendly and fast. There's no great mountain panorama, and the fact that smoking is permitted at every table outside, and there's no smoke-free area, somewhat dampens the enjoyment.

Unfortunately, we were greeted very unfriendly, or rather not at all, and since we hadn't made a reservation, we were more or less treated as unwelcome.

The food was very good for both adults and children. The waiter was very friendly and quick. Drinks were brought very quickly. The food took a while.

The price-performance ratio isn't right. I had to hunt for the mushrooms in my mushroom dish. There was a lot of sauce, though. We were there around 5 p.m., and the noise level was still acceptable. Friendly service.

Unbelievably bad! We weren't even allowed in for beer and food. We wanted to politely ask if we could wait at the bar to get a table later. We were immediately treated very rudely, as the bar was for waiting guests who had reserved tables. Surprising, since they had said on the phone that reservations weren't possible... The man at the bar was rude in his tone and demeanor, even impertinent in my opinion. I visit Oberstdorf often and will not go to this restaurant again, and can only advise everyone against it until they have learned some hospitality there. But it seems to be a trend. On another evening, we went to the Relax Bistro, which is part of the group. The staff there were rude as well.

Anyone who enjoys hearty food will definitely leave satisfied. 😊 If you still have room in your stomach, you should definitely try the Kaiserschmarren (also available in a small version). We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, we discovered that the food served was no longer hot. It was returned without any problems. Unfortunately, the replacement food was even colder. To be fair, we didn't charge for the meal. Otherwise, we enjoyed our meal and the service was very friendly.

We stopped here on our way back from the Nebelhornbahn cable car to the train station. When we asked if we could get a table for dinner with our rather large dog (37 kg), we were immediately shown a table in a kind of winter garden. The service was professional and very friendly. The food (liver, roast beef, and a vegetarian version of the dumplings with mushrooms) was very tasty, and the portions were plentiful, even after the hike. The background music isn't really our taste, but then, we're in Bavaria. It wasn't until a Christmas carol started playing that I found it distracting. Regarding the price, I thought everything was reasonable for a vacation spot like Oberstdorf.

*** Potato salad from a packet? *** We spontaneously dropped in on Sunday and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly, and the food was flying out of the kitchen, everyone was so hard-working. The food we had while we were there was also very good, and we were delighted. My husband had roast pork. Unfortunately, it was very tough and could have used a little more time. I had a cordon bleu with potato salad. The latter is often on the menu... why? I suspect it comes from a "bucket" and isn't homemade. Unfortunately, it tasted like all the ready-made potato salads from the supermarket, and I found that more than a shame. Better to offer something different, not mass-produced... unfortunately, we didn't like it at all.

Without a reservation, we only had outside seating :-), which is what we did. It was crowded and the staff was stressed, but they did a good job. The food was delicious, but the knuckle of pork was waaaaay too much. Doggie packing wasn't a problem, though, even with a bag! Unfortunately, I got distracted by the nice neighbors at my table and forgot to take a few photos :-)

The food was decent, but the prices were slightly higher – not premium, but comparable to most other restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, the service experience was very disappointing: When we tried to make a reservation for that evening in person, we were treated unfriendly and arrogantly. This put a damper on our desire to return, as the ambiance and enjoyment suffer from such an experience. There are many equally good restaurants in the area where guests are treated with respect – we feel much better cared for there.
