Was für ein toller Fund! Fantastisches deutsches Essen, große Portionen, sehr faire Preise und ein sehr freundlicher und fröhlicher Service. Bitte beachten Sie, dass hier nur Barzahlung möglich ist – es sei denn, Sie nutzen das lokale Kartensystem ec.

Wir waren rundum zufrieden und vergeben gerne fünf Sterne. Besonders die Forelle Müllerin Art war ausgezeichnet und für einen heimischen Fisch wirklich sehr lecker. Auch das Schnitzel hat uns überzeugt. Statt eines dicken Stücks bekommt man zwei schön dünne und sehr leckere Schnitzel. Besonders positiv fanden wir außerdem den Salat. Das Dressing war angenehm mild und ausgewogen und nicht, wie leider manchmal üblich, von einem starken Essiggeschmack dominiert. Dadurch konnte sogar unser Kind den Salat gut essen. Auch das Hacksteak war sehr lecker. Für Kinder gibt es eine eigene Speisekarte, was wir ebenfalls sehr praktisch fanden. Als kleine Anregung wäre es schön, wenn zu den Kindergerichten noch eine kleine Portion Salat, Erbsen oder gekochtes Gemüse gereicht würde. Angesichts der fairen Preise wäre das aber vielleicht auch etwas viel verlangt. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir eine sehr freundliche und herzliche Mitarbeiterin. Sie war aufmerksam, unkompliziert und auch im Umgang mit unserem Kind ausgesprochen nett. Dadurch haben wir uns von Anfang an sehr wohlgefühlt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir haben einen wunderbaren Mittag im Restaurant „Zum fröhlichen Landmann“ verbracht. Besonders beeindruckend war, dass wir mit einer Gruppe von 15 Personen und mehreren Hunden herzlich willkommen geheißen wurden, dass ist wirklich außergewöhnlich und verdient großes Lob! Die Tischvorbereitung war erstklassig: Alles war perfekt organisiert und auf unsere große Gruppe abgestimmt es gab sogar Leckerlis für die Vierläufer. Das Ambiente war gemütlich, das Essen hervorragend und der Service aufmerksam sowie freundlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können das Restaurant jedem Hundebesitzer und Genießer sehr empfehlen!

Toller Biergarten, gute Auswahl an Speisen und Getränke. Ebenso das Angebot an Kuchen. Freundliche und flotte Bedienung. Voller Erstaunen mussten wir feststellen, dass der tolle Biergarten nicht mehr in Betrieb ist. Leider.!!!! Die Terrasse ist auch schön, das Flair vom Garten fehlt aber.

Wunderschön gelegen mitten im Wald – der Ort hat großes Potenzial. Leider war der Service extrem unflexibel. Wir waren eine große Gruppe und wollten einen besonderen Anlass feiern, wurden aber mit wenig Verständnis empfangen. Ein zusätzliches Gericht wurde uns versehentlich gebracht, trotzdem mussten wir es bezahlen – und es gab nicht einmal Verpackung, um es mitzunehmen. Als es leicht zu regnen begann, baten wir darum, die Sonnenschirme zu öffnen, doch dies wurde verweigert – sie seien nur für die Sonne gedacht. Schade, dass die schöne Umgebung durch den schlechten Service so überschattet wurde. Update hinzugefügt nach der Antwort des Restaurants: Ich wollte in meiner ursprünglichen Bewertung bewusst nicht alle Details erwähnen, um Ihrem Ruf nicht unnötig zu schaden. Da Sie sich jedoch entschieden haben, Ihre Version öffentlich darzustellen, möchte ich der Vollständigkeit halber einige Punkte klarstellen: * Wir kamen mit einer Reservierung, und ja, uns war bewusst, dass Regen möglich sein könnte. * Wir haben niemals darum gebeten, eigene Getränke mitzubringen. Tatsächlich hat unsere Gruppe mehr als 500 € in Ihrem Restaurant ausgegeben. * Wir wollten lediglich einen Geburtstagskuchen mitbringen, damit unser Sohn seine Kerzen ausblasen konnte. Sie haben keine ganzen Geburtstagskuchen angeboten, andernfalls hätten wir selbstverständlich gerne einen bei Ihnen gekauft. * Außerdem haben wir gesehen, dass auch andere Gäste Kuchen mitgebracht hatten. Wenn es Regeln bezüglich mitgebrachter Speisen gibt, sollten diese für alle Gäste gleichermaßen gelten. * Zu Ihrem Kommentar bezüglich des „Chaos“ am Tisch: Als Restaurantbesitzer ist das eine sehr unangenehme öffentliche Bemerkung über Ihre Gäste. Wir waren mit mehreren Kindern dort, und obwohl wir versucht haben, nach dem Essen aufzuräumen, bringen kleine Kinder leider manchmal auch etwas Unordnung mit sich.

Service war super und das Essen großartig. Ich kann den Distelhäuser Bierkutscher Gulasch nur von Herzen empfehlen. Wirklich grandios. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Der Salat war leider braun und völlig matschig, das Dressing war viel zu sauer und nicht genießbar. Es gab weder Rabat noch eine Entschuldigung vom Personal. Das Fleisch und die trockene Bratkartoffeln waren OK.

Die Dame die dort arbeitet hat im Service absolut nichts verloren super unfreundlich Absolutes no go ! Waren heute das erste und letzte Mal dort das ist sicher. Das Essen was ok Gemischter Salat ist leider nur grüner Kopfsalat … könnte man etwas schöner anrichten

Tolles Ambiente..das Essen sehr sehr lecker! Die Wirte waren sehr freundlich Das einzige als Tipp...die Toiletten sind extrem kalt..fast als wäre man draussen... man friert und das Wasser zum Händewaschen ist eiskalt. Im Winter sehr unangenehm. Aber wir würden wieder dort essen weil es wirklich toll geschmeckt hat.

Cozy atmosphere, delicious and plentiful food, very friendly service, short wait times. Great playground, additional rooms for private parties on the ground floor, plenty of parking nearby. A beautiful nativity scene is currently set up at Rettershof, very close by. It features lovely sayings, figures, etc. Various events organized by the city of Kelkheim take place in this courtyard.

We went for Christmas goose. Very delicious. It wasn't crowded during the week. A cozy restaurant for a day trip.

This restaurant has long since become one of my absolute favorites. Whenever friends from the USA visit, I bring them here because they find German cuisine at its finest. The atmosphere is inviting all year round. In the summer, it's wonderful to sit outside, and in the colder months, it's really cozy inside. You can tell with every dish that they work with care. A good example is the spinach dumplings; the chef deliberately adds subtle touches of red cabbage to the mushroom sauce, which brings a delicate acidity and gives the whole dish a perfectly balanced flavor dimension. Such thoughtful details show that someone is at work here who truly understands their ingredients and cooks with a genuine sense of balance. The menu may seem classic at first glance, but the execution is anything but boring. It's precisely this combination—traditional yet creative—that makes this restaurant a place I always enjoy returning to.

We just wanted a piece of cake and a coffee today. Since we were out with our dog, we wanted to sit outside. We offered to return the dishes. Despite this, they very rudely refused! Nice location, but unfortunately, the owners are quite inflexible! I would have considered this place for a goose dinner with our friends – now definitely NO! Never again!!!!

Everything just works here. The spinach dumplings with mushroom sauce... absolutely delicious.

A very quaint pub serving good German cuisine. The server was very friendly and attentive. If we lived nearby, we would visit again. There's a small playground in front of the pub that's a bit dated. However, children can run around and play there without worry, as the pub is only accessible on foot. (Parking is a 5-minute walk away.)

A very nice day trip destination with the option of a guided tour. You can see various domestic animals, noble horses, and interesting architecture, among other things. A lovely beer garden and delicious food await you. You're also welcome to bring your dog.

After a few years away, I was back in the Vordertaunus region and, of course, had to stop by the "Happy Landmann." We used to be regulars at the Happy Landmann, sometimes in large groups, and always enjoyed the good and friendly service, the excellent food, and the warmth. And even years later, the "Happy Landmann," or rather the team and the kitchen, delighted us as usual. The spinach quiche with feta, salad, and onion jam was delicious. And my companion was also delighted with the food. The whole experience was rounded off by the warmth. For that, I'm awarding it an extra star.

We were here for dinner for the first time in ages! All I can say is, the welcome was superb, the waiter incredibly friendly and absolutely on the ball. The food, the loin and aspic, were outstanding, the cooked cheese was a dream, and the apple wine was from the Rettershof. The medlar to finish was perfect! Thank you for the lovely evening, we'll be back, without a doubt!

We were there with a larger group and were absolutely thrilled! Despite the many different requests, the service and the kitchen were really prompt. The servers were cheerful, incredibly friendly, and worked together extremely well. The food was really good, as was the value for money.

It was another very pleasant visit. The food was delicious; I especially recommend the hand cheese. The food was ready quickly, but it wasn't pre-made. The service was friendly, attentive, and prompt. Reservations are recommended on weekends.

The food is very good, but you pay the price for it. Rather customer-unfriendly is the attitude of not packaging paid-for food if there's leftovers. There's a flyer on the table from 2023, which states that the law regarding reusable packaging was changed – however, the law only applies to businesses that sell "to-go." That's not the case here. When we asked, there was no aluminum foil either – that would be legally permitted. Of course, we didn't bring our own packaging on our bike tour. It's a shame, the delicious food was seriously spoiled by this customer-unfriendly attitude. Perhaps the owner could consider changing things.

This cheerful farmer's inn is always a worthwhile destination, whether after or during a hike through the Taunus Mountains, or "just for fun" to enjoy good food and drinks. The hosts are professional and welcoming, accommodating special requests and catering perfectly to your needs. For dog owners, it's a very relaxing experience, as dogs are absolutely welcome and fresh drinking water is always available.

The food was really delicious, nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, my daughter couldn't finish her fried potatoes, and they couldn't take them home because there was no packaging. Understandable if you're concerned about protecting the environment—but there wasn't even a piece of baking paper or aluminum foil inside. We were told they didn't have anything to wrap it in, and it almost seemed like they'd rather just throw the food away. I honestly found that disappointing. I would have liked a bit more accommodating here. Otherwise, a nice place.

This was our first time here. A very nice outdoor terrace with a view of the greenery. The service was very helpful and friendly. We were given the menu right away. The drinks and food arrived promptly. The portions were generous and very tasty. The value for money was excellent! Highly recommended!

In short, nice weather and great location (beer garden), but beer garden closed. I could accept the fact that there may be a lack of staff and therefore no service in the beer garden. But the fact that you can't get anything to drink in the restaurant to enjoy the sun in the beer garden is unacceptable. Very sad.

We were there with the family for coffee and cake on Sunday afternoon. Very tasty and large selection of cakes. The service was super nice and quick, even though the restaurant was very busy. We would be happy to go to the cheerful countryman again.

Insanely unfriendly staff. On a spring day it was impossible to order a shandy as you had to sit at a table. Apparently there is no free table, although there is a huge terrace downstairs with chairs where you are not allowed to sit. We didn't mind carrying our own glasses. We also didn't mind drinking our drink standing up. Neither allowed. It would also be possible to offer an alternative, e.g. B. an invitation to wait at the bar. We live in the area but definitely won't be coming back.

We've been coming here for years, we always stop to eat here after a walk. I have to say though that two weeks ago it was a disaster, the schnitzel squirted oil when I cut it it was so soggy, the trout was so full of butter and it took a whole day to digest! We were so disappointed because it hadn't happened yet! I don't think it was the same hand in the kitchen, but a little more attention would be good, especially when the bill comes!

To the most unfriendly countryman! On August 28, 2024, I wanted to stop for lunch in the beer garden of this restaurant with my 96-year-old father, who is severely walking and visually impaired, as so often in previous years. To our great disappointment, the beer garden was closed according to a sign and this was not stated on the internet. The reasons for this were not apparent on site. As a result, only the terrace, which is located high up and accessible via about ten steps, was obviously open. A waiter looked down at my father, who was leaning on a walker, and at me from above and shouted to us in an unfriendly manner that downstairs was closed and only service was served on the terrace. I then helped my father laboriously climb the steps to the terrace. When we got to the top we asked the waiter which table we could sit at. We were told in an unfriendly tone that if we hadn't reserved anything, nothing would be available! Of course we hadn't made any reservations because we assumed that the beer garden would be open and there would be plenty of seats and tables there. I was very disappointed and had to laboriously help my father go down the stairs to get back to the car with him. I find it extremely offensive to treat a visibly disabled person like that and I feel ashamed of this waiter. He could have told us straight away that all the tables were occupied or reserved, then my father wouldn't have had to struggle up and down the stairs! Result: We won't come here anymore!

Ebenso merkwürdig wie fast alle Läden im Taunus, schöner Biergarten mit tollem Ambiente, mitten in der Natur, leider war bisher das Wetter noch nicht so....., Keller, Karten, Bestellung, alles zügig, Getränke 2 Weizenbier, waren abgestanden und haben nicht geschmeckt, schmutzige Gläser eins mit Lippenstift, eins mit fettigen Fingerabdrücken. Die Speisekarte, langweiliger geht es kaum, warum muss eine Speisekarte in der Region 2024 noch so aussehen? Ok viel älteres Publikum, ich bin auch alt, trotzdem esse ich gerne gut und frisch, ebenso freue ich mich über neue Ideen und wechselnde Karte,. Eine Pilzsauce war mit frischen Pilzen, aber trotzdem mit der gelben Dose nachbehandelt, warum? Schnitzel.........was soll ich sagen , wahrscheinlich fertig aus dem Grosshandel und warm fritiert, dazu ein Omasalat der schon leicht vergoren schmeckte. Ich muss es nicht verstehen, irgendwie muss man doch versuchen ein gastfreundliches Bild abzugeben, dazu gehört vor allem auch Sauberkeit.....eine Grundreinigung und frischer Wind würde dem Laden wirklich gut tun, Preise waren dem Essen angemessen, ich zahle gerne mehr wenn das Produkt stimmt, und im Taunus wohnt eben das Klientel was es sich leisten kann, also Leute macht was draus.

We were looking forward to the fitness salad and were bitterly disappointed. We were expecting crunchy fresh leaf lettuce, aromatic tomatoes, maybe some peppers or other fresh types of lettuce and beautifully golden grilled chicken breast topped with fresh cress. What was served was a soggy mess with something that vaguely looked like chicken lying around the edge. This had some herbs attached to it, which didn't make it any more appetizing. As a precaution, the waitress didn't even ask about our satisfaction when clearing away. Unfortunately, I have to say that I have never been served such a bad salad. It's a shame, because the place has potential.

The restaurant is idyllically located in the forest. I was there at lunchtime when the weather was good. The entire terrace quickly filled up. For dinner I had a Bauernschnitzel (schnitzel with mushroom sauce). The portion was very good. The schnitzels are well breaded and tasty. The fries were crispy. If you're looking for something to complain about, you could point out that the delicious side salad can be served beforehand. The drink was an elderberry rhubarb spritzer, which was very tasty and refreshing! Anyone who drives past there or visits the Rettershof should also stop here.

The award “The 50 best village inns in Hesse” is emblazoned right on the first page of the menu. After we ate here, I wonder if there are perhaps only 50 village inns in all of Hesse, because that would explain to me why this restaurant is part of the top 50. My wife's salad with goat cheese was probably quite tasty, but I would have preferred to cook my Goethe Schnitzel at home. Two small schnitzels, both of which were unfortunately far from crispy and tasteless, on a rather large pile of fried potatoes, which were partially burnt and completely unseasoned. What can I say about the green sauce, I completely missed the egg here, the taste is much better in every apple wine bar in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen. There wasn't enough green sauce to go with the mass of fried potatoes, so I ordered a second portion. This costs €3.30, which is ok since the restaurateur doesn't have anything to give away, but you should kindly let them know briefly. The service seemed a bit overwhelmed due to the large number of guests.

Zum cheeren Landmann enjoys an excellent reputation and since we are big fans of the rettershof, we wanted to try out the restaurant “Zum cheeren Landmann”. We were greeted warmly and given a seat outside on the terrace. The restaurant was well attended and you could clearly tell that the two men in service were having a hard time keeping up. After a while our drinks and food orders would be taken. Both the drinks and food came so quickly that I was amazed. The fried potatoes tasted soggy and old, as if they had been warmed up in the microwave. The same applied to the veal schnitzel. The quality of the meat was good, but here too the schnitzel was prepared in advance and only heated up later. The green sauce was also a bitter disappointment. Far too few herbs and far too liquid. The side salad was soaked in vinegar and also not to be enjoyed. My wife had the baked goat cheese with salad. Here too, the cheese was simply warmed up and a honey sauce was poured over it. At the end of the day, the schnitzel dish cost 27 euros and the goat cheese dish cost 15 euros, but unfortunately it was an absolute failure.

We were there for lunch and coffee with 16 people on June 1st, 2024 on the occasion of our golden wedding anniversary. Everyone enjoyed the food excellently, and the selection of drinks left nothing to be desired. It was also important that the dishes were served on preheated plates and that there were no delays with individual dishes. Ice cream sundaes and cakes are great. The service was very attentive and repeatedly asked whether everything was to our satisfaction. We can fully agree with this. Our conclusion: Highly recommended and would be happy to come again at any time.

This was the second time I went to dinner at the cheerful Landmann with a large group and I was thrilled again! Unfortunately we arrived 45 minutes later and that wasn't a problem at all. We were served again in a friendly, funny and quick manner! The drinks and food arrived very quickly and the food was still very fresh, hot and really tasty! The menu offers everything you need, except rum steaks. I'm not a vegetarian, but luckily there are great dishes for vegetarians. Thanks for the good food and the nice service! The written pre-arrangement was also perfect and we would even have had a table set outside if the weather had been right. So thank you very much and see you next time!

The food was ok and the price was right. The side dishes were a bit bland, especially the fried potatoes. We had Trout Müllerin with boiled potatoes and brawn with fried potatoes. There was a great salad plate with the dishes. The location is very nice, just a classic forest restaurant.

All around great. A paradise for children, riders and hikers. Unfortunately, prices have risen sharply here too.
