Gimbacher Hof in Kelkheim (Taunus)

We had reserved a table but were told to sit there or upstairs. We were sitting in the middle of a horde of noisy children who frequently bumped into the chairs, which didn't exactly contribute to our comfort. The food was really good though 👍

We went there for the first time today and haven't eaten out this well in a long time: the food was piping hot and steaming, the portions were more than generous, and it was delicious. The waiter was very attentive and polite. One star less for ambiance because the room was really cold, and I would have preferred to keep my coat on. Also, the restrooms are not wheelchair accessible. We will definitely come back.

Delicious food! The entire service team was incredibly friendly and professional. A lovely, family atmosphere. It was a real pleasure to be guests here. Even though we were more than full after lunch, we couldn't resist the homemade cake buffet. Absolutely fantastic! 😋 My dog ​​was able to relax in peace. It's wonderful to have rediscovered this place after more than 20 years.

We ate here on Boxing Day (December 26, 2025) with 19 people. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the tables weren't too close together. I had a beetroot cream soup with horseradish. It was absolutely delicious. It came with herb baguette. For my main course, as a vegetarian, I had a vegan lentil Wellington. It was served with a tomato cream sauce and tasted very good. I would have preferred a thicker pastry, but it was as it was. To finish, we had an espresso, and then we left. I didn't hear anything negative about the food from my family. Everyone was satisfied. It was a lovely family celebration with delicious food. We were in a separate room and received very friendly service. The entire atmosphere (including the area around the restaurant) is very pleasant, especially in good weather!

We went there for goose dinner in the evening. The meat was very tender, the portions were generous, and it came with the usual accompaniments of chestnuts and cabbage. I ordered fried potatoes instead of dumplings. The two of us adults were very satisfied. Second helpings were also available upon request, which doesn't contradict the above, as we hadn't eaten much that day. The service was very attentive and, considering the restaurant was 98% full, remarkably quick. The noise level was also acceptable. We had reserved and received a table suitable for our dog. Prices were good compared to other restaurants. I would definitely go again; what more could a restaurant ask for?

We went there for goose dinner today and had a very good experience. The quality of the goose was better than in previous years at other restaurants in the area. There was plenty of gravy and red cabbage, and the portions were very large. The price was right at just under €37 per portion of roast goose (breast and leg) with side dishes.

We celebrated our wedding at the Gimbacher Hof and were very satisfied overall. Working with Ms. Rucco was a pleasure from the start; she implemented all our wishes with great dedication and made sure we stayed within budget. The food was freshly prepared and truly delicious—no convenience food here, and it definitely showed. However, we would like to mention a couple of minor things: Firstly, the floral arrangements weren't quite what we had envisioned. Secondly, the upstairs rooms were a bit too warm that evening, even though the heating wasn't on and the windows weren't really closed. But that was just a small drawback on an otherwise perfect day. Overall, we are very grateful to the Gimbacher Hof and would wholeheartedly recommend the venue to anyone.

A large, old farmhouse steeped in tradition, with many rooms and parlors, a tiled stove, its own cider, a select menu, delicious cakes, and local products. Good food, friendly service – if you're in the area, you should definitely stop by!

Met up with friends at the Gimbacher Hof today. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth a single star. The vegetable strudel was unappealing, limp, and tasteless. The rösti was a pre-made product. When the waiter asked if I hadn't enjoyed it, I gave a clear "no," and that was that. I certainly won't be going back to this restaurant.

We celebrated our dream wedding in September 2025, entirely in our private garden. There were 70 of us, including 20 children! And it was simply fantastic. There was a bouncy castle and a band, amazing cake, a delicious dinner, and a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you so much for this celebration, the many options, the uncomplicated and quick arrangements, the friendly service, the delicious food, and the child-friendly atmosphere! A wonderful day with the family at Gimbacher Hof. The drive leads through a residential area, and there are plenty of free parking spaces on site. The restaurant offers tables in the dining room, as well as individual rooms for celebrations. There is also the option of dining outside. Coffee and cake were served outside. Inside the building, the table is beautifully set, and the service is friendly, organized, and courteous. The menu is easy to read, and the dishes are regional and home-style. The dishes were beautifully presented, the salad was fresh, colorful, and juicy. All the dishes were well-balanced, and no one had to wait. There are numerous options for children, including a play area by the stairwell. Outside, there is also a playground, animals, and a pony ride.

In the past, Kelkheim residents would only go there for coffee; the food simply wasn't good. Now, the big surprise: we were there with a large group, and every dish was amazing. It's not exactly cheap, but it's worth the price. We'd gladly go back.

Gimbacher Hof is worth a visit! For all ages... The restaurant has plenty of seating and is beautifully decorated! The food is always great, and you can see the entire farm, including the horses and goats... fantastic!

Two weeks ago we celebrated my 50th birthday at the Gimbacher Hof with a buffet lunch for 40 people. The organisation was great, food was excellent and the service was very good. Great party with lots of happy guests - thanks for making this day so special!

We had made a personal reservation the day before. I'm a wheelchair user. When we arrived, we were led into a separate room. There were four tables. A wheelchair user was already sitting at one of them. The room wasn't wheelchair-accessible at all. We had to somehow squeeze in, back to back, to make it fit. We both bumped our knees at the table. Then two women with a dog arrived. We all felt shoved away and unwelcome.

We held a surprise party for my wife's 40th birthday here in the garden. Everything went as planned and was perfect! This especially applies to the cake and the barbecue buffet for dinner. We hope to be back sometime!

We celebrated a milestone birthday at the Gimbacher Hof in early August. It was supposed to be a garden party, but they reserved a hall for us as a rainy-day alternative. We ended up eating inside, but the good weather allowed us to make the most of it. All the children were able to play in the garden or on the playground in front of the restaurant. The food, both lunch and cake, was excellent, and the service met our every need. All in all, a fantastic day. Thanks again to the team!

We celebrated our outdoor wedding ceremony, champagne reception, dinner, and subsequent party at the Gimbacher Hof – and it was simply perfect! Even in advance, coordination was absolutely seamless: quick responses, clear agreements, and very friendly support during the planning process. On the day itself, the service team was first-class – attentive, warm, and always there to help. The venue itself is stunning: The beautiful garden provides the ideal backdrop for an outdoor ceremony, and the upstairs room is also atmospheric and very suitable for a celebration. The food was fantastic – fresh, delicious, and with a great selection. Our special requests (Greek and Portuguese influences) were also wonderfully implemented, even though they're not our everyday norm. Our wedding cake was also a real highlight – visually impressive and delicious. The setting is also perfect for taking unforgettable wedding photos. All in all, a truly worry-free package for us! We can wholeheartedly recommend the Gimbacher Hof and would advise any future wedding couple to definitely consider this location.

One of my favorite spots in the entire Main-Taunus district since childhood. A legendary outdoor area with magnificent plane and chestnut trees. Homemade apple wine and hand cheese are just what I like. Horse paddocks, a riding stable, and a campsite are in the immediate vicinity, and walks are excellent. The whole area is magical, and you feel like you've stepped back into another era long ago.

How many stars can you give for a „Flammkuchen“? What was very impressive was the „Windbeutel“. Nice Beer Garden. waiter stressed but friendly. But for a Monday it was really, really busy. Over all this place can be recommended.

The staff is stressed when it's busy... The food is very tasty, the side salad is unloving. I still like going there because the ambiance is very nice. The outdoor seating, including the table and floor, is very dated; it could use some renovation or replacement.

We had a table outside and the food was great and moderately priced given the location quality. Really enjoyed the vibe and feeling like being away from city life for a few hours.

We attended a baptism at the Gimbacher Hof. The beautiful little chapel directly adjacent to the farm is perfect for baptisms and weddings. Afterwards, we celebrated in the lovely private garden. The service and food were excellent! We especially loved the cake! There's plenty for the little ones to explore (playground, animals, pony rides), and the adults can relax in the well-kept beer garden. The couple who run it are super helpful and friendly!

Very nice for sitting outside on hot days. Or in the fall after a hike. A great destination with children, as there's a playground and animals. Yesterday we had a handkäs (cheese) for 8.50. Simply unprofessional service. We had a reserved table. We order food and are ready to order dessert. Without asking us they sit additional guests to our table and suddenly there are no enough chairs for us on the table. Basically just asking us to leave. So rude. The food is good. Coffee and cake can’t rate since they kicked us out before that. A nice place for kids but would definitely not come here again. Updating after the response from the restaurant with an true assessment. Probably you do this a lot to your customers so you mixed up our table with another case? We were having a stop by and would never have stayed 3 hours as we wanted to have a quick lunch and leave. My husband was at the table and never left it as I went to the bathroom. Anyways, you could have just apologized but you decided to spread false info.

A lovely day trip destination just outside Frankfurt. In nice weather, we enjoyed a delicious handkäs (cheese), salad, and apple wine outside. The cakes on offer are legendary. We're always happy to come back.

The food is good, but waiters who turn their heads in annoyance when you speak to them are just unacceptable. When your order arrives and has been mixed up, you're doubly happy. I didn't feel like a guest, more like an annoying supplicant.

The cake looks absolutely delicious. But I decided on green sauce. That could be greener, meaning more herbs, less mayo.

The location is very nice, and there's plenty of parking. The service was courteous, friendly, and personable. We had the dark beer goulash and found it very tasty. Afterwards, there was cake, also very tasty. The price was reasonable. We'd be happy to come back.

The Gimbacher (also called Gimbi) is beautifully situated, and in summer, you can sit in the shade. The food is good, home-style. From here, you can also take lovely walks. If you arrive early enough, parking is no problem. The service is friendly and well-organized. There's plenty on offer for children; the braver ones can hop on ponies and be guided through the area. In nice weather and on weekends, I would definitely recommend making a reservation.

Upon arrival, the beautiful grounds immediately caught our eye, and our children enjoyed the playground. The staff was extremely friendly; we immediately felt warmly welcomed. I find that special in itself; that's rare in the restaurant industry. Even during the hours we were there, despite the heat, no one lost their friendliness, and we guests had the best time of our lives in the shade thanks to the beautiful trees and a pleasant breeze. Now for the food: the classics like green sauce... top-notch! The trout, I haven't had it prepared so well in a long time. Even my little kids ate the salad :-P The gooseberry cake from the large selection of cakes left nothing to be desired. And there was even dog ice cream for the dogs. It was a fantastic day, and we're already booking again for next year.

We invited about 35 people to the "Gimbi" for a special birthday. We had a reception outside (beautiful!) under the trees, followed by a hot buffet upstairs. The arrangements were flawless, the food was excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly. The prices are completely reasonable. I would definitely recommend it.

We celebrated our civil and church weddings at the Gimbacher Hof in the Staufenberg room with a terrace. We received excellent advice beforehand and were very pleased with the food. Our server, Susann, responded promptly to our guests' spontaneous requests and was able to resolve many issues as quickly as possible. We felt very comfortable and would like to thank you again for the successful celebrations.

The beer garden is quite nice, but the interior is hard to beat in terms of stuffiness. Everything is showing its age considerably. The service hasn't improved and was rather lackluster. I only had a hand cheese with music, which was absolutely unimpressive. I won't go back.

Beautiful location with playground and animals around (horses, goats). The food was okay, the Spargel Schnitzel was expensive and only had one piece of meat instead of two like all other Schnitzel dishes. Could have been more Sauce Hollandaise. Service was overwhelmed, they often brought something twice or to the wrong table.

We've only been there twice this summer. Both times, we were served by the same waiter. In both cases, it felt like the customer was just a nuisance. The second time, half of the orders went missing, and there were dirty glasses to boot. I hope things get better :(

A very nice café in an idyllic location. You should get there early, though, as otherwise you'll have little chance of getting a seat. The cake is delicious, and if you can't get a seat, it's definitely worth bringing some with you. Highly recommended.

All the dishes are super delicious, and the cakes and tarts are a dream! Good service is part of feeling good, and everything is just right there, too. A pleasant and friendly waitress who helps you feel at home! The outdoor area is something very special; under the old trees, a truly romantic atmosphere develops, and you feel like you're on vacation and just completely at home! Always worth a visit. There's something for young and old. Not only is there good food and delicious cakes, but also pure nature, a wonderful playground, a small animal enclosure, and pony rides. There's something for everyone. I think the pony story is only available by appointment. A table reservation is often necessary, especially if you're planning on coming with a large group.

I've been going to Gimbi for years; why? Maybe because I live locally, because my daughter has ridden there🐴, because we celebrated confirmation in the garden there ✝️💜, because the food was/is always honestly made and fairly priced. And because the cake selection remains *amazing*. Can I recommend it... even after the change? Yes!

We celebrated a birthday there in one room, but you had to go through another dining room. The atmosphere was very hectic from the outside, and some people shouted, and they weren't happy when we handed ourselves the menu. The food was delicious (the cake is a must) and was served relatively quickly for 20 people (roughly 15 minutes). The ambiance loses a point due to the overall noise level, and you might think the decor is a bit sparse. But overall, a nice place.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to the entire team at the Gimbacher Hof. We've known this lovely restaurant for years and have always enjoyed excellent food there, but at our wedding reception yesterday, the team made sure everything was perfect (champagne reception, lunch, coffee) and went the extra mile... the three-tiered wedding cake was a blast... we love your legendary apple wine cake. We had our reservation for outside for 4 p.m., but we arrived at 3 p.m. and were kindly assigned a nice table inside after the guests had left. We did have to wait a bit for service, but given the crowds, it was okay. The food was, as always, very good. By the time we were finished and wanted a cake for dessert, the cake counter was already very small, but we still got a delicious fresh cherry cake with crumble. The value for money is good! We will definitely go there a few more times. There is a playground and petting animals for children.
