This is a quaint restaurant! The schnitzel was delicious, the fries were fantastic, the service was very friendly, the prices are very fair, and the ambiance is otherworldly.

The food came too quickly for my liking. 1 fillet pot, 2 medallions, and 1 onion schnitzel were on the table after 5 minutes. They can't make it fresh. My fillet in the pot was dry and hard. I suspect the dishes are ready-made and are just being reheated. This is also supported by the fact that no changes to the dish are possible. We won't be going there again.

If you're not too keen on a modern ambiance but prefer hearty, traditional German cuisine, this is the place for you. They serve delicious, affordable home-style cooking. The staff is quick and friendly, and even though the restaurant was packed, we didn't have to wait long for our order. I had the roulade with red cabbage and mashed potatoes, and my husband had the pork loin in a pepper cream sauce. Both dishes were incredibly delicious and filling. We'll definitely be back again.

Always a good opportunity to eat well and inexpensively, and shopping afterwards is also highly recommended.

I would have liked the schnitzel. However, I don't like it with fries. The dishes are only available as they appear on the menu. I would have paid more, too, since side dishes are listed separately on the menu. Difficult.

The food was delicious. One star deducted because payment is cash only (as stated in the small print on the menu, as pointed out by the waitress). Another star deducted because side dishes cannot be swapped. All dishes have set side orders. There is also an extensive side menu. However, despite the same price, it was not possible to get fried potatoes instead of French fries with the schnitzel. Not customer-friendly!

I wanted a bratwurst with fries. Since the fries are cooked in the same fat as, for example, croquettes, I'm not allowed to eat them due to gluten intolerance. I skipped the fries and asked for a bratwurst without anything else. The waiter told me that the meal would still cost full price. Even after asking, they stuck to that. I got one bratwurst that was half cold and paid €8.30 for it. I won't go there again.

I had seen the restaurant online and was impressed at first glance, but when we arrived, it wasn't what we had imagined. The food was good! Unfortunately, our special requests for drinks weren't accommodated. To top it all off, our meal came to €33.35, and I gave the employee €34, but I never saw my change because the employee (an older lady with glasses and short hair) disappeared. Unfortunately, what a shame... :(

The Franziskaner is a beautiful, rustic restaurant in Andernach. In addition to the main menu, which features delicious home-style cooking, they also offer daily specials. We ordered hunter's schnitzel with French fries, venison goulash with noodles, Rhenish sauerbraten with dumplings and apple sauce, and potato pancakes with apple sauce. What can I say?! Everyone loved it! My sauerbraten was so tender and well-marbled that it fell apart at the first touch of a fork. At first, the sour cherries in the sauce irritated me, but they actually enhanced the flavor of the dish. The venison goulash was also excellent. I can't rate the schnitzel and potato pancakes because they didn't let me try them. However, the faces of the people who were eating them suggested that they enjoyed their food too. The meal was accompanied by a cool Steffens Pilsener. Conclusion: If it weren't so far to the Franziskaner, I would eat there more often. Not just for eating or drinking the most delicious beer in the world, but also for small talk with the nicest waiters in the world.

Never again, I've never experienced anything like that. After a couple of spoonfuls, I got a stomach ache and felt nauseous. I wanted to have a nice day, but my day ended in the hospital. Even though I said I felt sick, they didn't care.

We spontaneously ate there for the first time this afternoon after a visit to the doctor. The food was very tasty. All the waitresses were very quick and friendly. One waitress particularly struck me as how she continually looked after an elderly, frail guest (despite a lot of stress). It's nice that you're so human. 👍 The decor is rustic, but everything seemed very clean. Price-performance top! We'd love to come back.

The food tasted good and was a decent portion. However, some of the fries were a bit too salty and I was missing a small salad, which you would have had to pay extra for in most dishes.

Was there for lunch today, unfortunately very disappointed 😞 I wanted to order the fried potatoes in exchange for fries, one potato is for the other??? ,not possible only for an additional charge????? I've been a hotel manager for 40 years, something small hits such a stubborn wall, really sad 😢....

Authentic food at normal prices

One of my favorite restaurants ive been too. The chairs are placed a bit close to eachother but enough to sit comfortably, and the food is good if your looking for a good portion of meat,salads and pommes. No pin pay! The decor really adds up to the experience id say. Id wish I could go here again! And I saw some calm dogs allowed in.

After a visit to the geyser, we stopped at “Zum Franziskaner”. At lunchtime the restaurant was almost completely full. The menu is clear and there is something for everyone. The staff was very friendly and quick. The food was very good and the portions were large. Prices are very reasonable. Clear recommendation!

We were here occasionally a few years ago and it was always good. Today we were a little disappointed. The beef broth was bland and meaningless, the schnitzel wasn't particularly seasoned and the fries weren't fried properly. Unfortunately the potato pancakes are only frozen. Very poor quality. Pork medallion was far dry, neck steak was definitely warmed up, potato pancakes were frozen goods. The worst, however, was the Scottish style rump steak. It was swimming in whiskey diluted with water, no other flavors could be detected. When it was pointed out that it was inedible, people just shrugged their shoulders. Absolutely not recommended 😡

My friend's pepper cream sauce tasted like perfume. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't point out that you can't change the side dishes; we would have paid the extra charge. The bigger problem came in the end: you can't pay by card. You can also point this out to the guest at the entrance door or in the menu. It's a shame that we don't keep up with the times. In this day and age, long-established businesses could also remain in existence longer and attract more young guests.

Ein guter Freund und ich waren heute beim Franziskaner. Wir bestellten das Rindergulasch und das Hackstück. Innerhalb von 3-4 Minuten hatten wir unser Essen auf dem Tisch. Vorgekocht, aber lecker, soweit so gut. Als ich die Bedienung höflich bat, mir doch bitte ein oder zwei Esslöffel Sauce zum Rindergulasch zu geben, entrüstete diese sich mit dem Hinweis, diese Sauce würde dann bei den anderen Kunden fehlen. Das ginge gar nicht. Schützenhilfe, erhielt sie von einer weiteren Kollegin. Meinen Hinweis, dies empfände ich nicht als kundenorientiert, ignorierte sie und wollte mich stattdessen belehren. Ich fragte sie, wer hier, König sei, der Kunde oder sie. Ich spart sie auch höflich, nicht weiter zu diskutieren. Ich empfinde dieses Verhalten nicht nur als unhöflich, es ist vor allem geschäftsschädigend! Dies kann man hier auch einigen anderen Rezensionen entnehmen. Ich werde den Inhaber Herrn Selbach noch darüber informieren. Mir ist bewusst, dass es heutzutage schwer ist, gutes Personal für die Gastronomie zu finden. Aber auf solches Personal kann man getrost verzichten. Wir werden dieses Lokal nicht mehr betreten!

Mit dem besten Freund zum Mittagessen. Es ging "Zum Franziskaner" in Andernach. Mein Freund sagte mir schon zuvor, hier müsse man mal hingehen. Er hatte nicht zu viel versprochen. Für ihn gab es die Rinderleber, für mich die Roulade mit Kartoffelpüree und Rotkohl. Super lecker! Auf meine Frage, ob auch Kartoffelknödel möglich wären, kam die Antwort, dass man die Gerichte nur so bestellen könne, wie sie auf der Karte stünden. Aber! Das Püree sein selbst gemacht. Das war es auch! Alles hat wunderbar geschmeckt, das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt. Sehr freundlicher, schneller Service in einem urigen Ambiente. Einziger, ganz kleiner Kritikpunkt... Die Gurke in der Roulade sollte klein geschnitten und nicht im ganzen eingerollt sein. Aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau! Von mir gibt es eine absolute "Hingehen-Empfehlung"!

Franciscan plate and poultry (chicken gordonblue) were on the grill for too long. Not recommendable. Compilation of the dishes, special and not suitable. Service was not what you would imagine in a restaurant. No further details were given regarding the preparation of the grilled food. Only, returned with a smile.

We had dinner there on Wednesday evening. I had a rum steak with side dishes. The food was good 👍. The steak was cooked to perfection. I know that it is from our own slaughterhouse and comes from Germany. That's what it was good for 👍. But the service, quite young, was great. I had full control because it was getting pretty crowded and stayed calm and friendly. At the table next to us the couple was just complaining for no reason. I can judge it because I've been in the industry for 30 years. Nobody needs guests like that! Everything was done great 👍
