Zum Franziskaner in Füssen

One of the worst dining experiences of my life. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel, mineral water, and a cappuccino. The water was served in a glass; at no point was I able to see the bottle it was poured from. The Wiener Schnitzel was served three minutes after I ordered it. It was probably already prepared and looked very much like frozen food from a supermarket, and the French fries also looked like those served at McDonald's. In conclusion! The dish looked like something off a children's menu at any restaurant. It's sad, my experience is very sad, seeing people only want financial gain. I've been a chef for over 35 years, and I've never seen a customer mocked in that way. I left that place very disappointed with what some have turned into an art form as special to me as the art of gastronomy. By the way, the only thing that was decent was the cappuccino, but it wasn't anything impressive either.

Great restaurant and great service. We had a great time as a family. I recommend it to anyone who loves typical regional dishes. You're guaranteed a pleasant and delicious time.

We only came here for dinner. Unfortunately, it wasn't great. The service was friendly, but the food arrived after only 3 (!) minutes. Unfortunately, it tasted like that, too. The cheese spaetzle were sticky and the fried onions were rubbery. The knuckle of pork was very dry. So, they kept both warm. And the whole thing came with a drink each for 50 euros... I'd like to see a bit more quality here, even if it means a bit of a wait.

I only went for a beer here as it catches the evening sun. It was really nice to sit outside and chill. Beers were good too.

A beautiful restaurant with style and attention to detail. Right at the beginning of the promenade... very hospitable, delicious food... you feel at home. We'd love to come back... unfortunately, our vacation is almost over...

Terrible experience. We sat down to dinner, not a single smile. A thousand mosquitoes, and we asked them if they had any kind of repellent, as if asking them about flying jellyfish. Terrible experience.

Beware of rip-offs. Outrageous prices for salad. We were recommended (pushed) to have cake. We made the mistake of not asking for the price. The bill ended up being €10 for a piece of cake. Never again.

Only came here for the restaurant but was still very pleased with the food here, had a Bavarian sausage and it was very good, service was very quick and nothing wrong with any of the orders, quite cheap as it is quite a tourist hotspot being so close to Neuschwanstein castle.

We ate here. It's very small and very cozy. Excellent food. It's at the end or the beginning, depending on your preference, of the pedestrian zone.

Rather poor food for tourists. A dead, dried-out half a farm duck for 29.50... It was a recommendation from the restaurant... It's a shame that the lovely Franziskaner doesn't have higher quality standards. The service, however, was top-notch!

The food was delicious; I had a hair in my food, but it was more or less ignored. Otherwise, it was solid, and felt like a touristy restaurant.

I had a very good pork shank with potatoes and sauerkraut. I was satisfied. The portions were generous. Excellent value for money.

Canadian here so take it with a grain of salt perhaps but this was the best German food I've had yet during my two weeks stay, the service is a massive bonus, my sons are happy too ❤️

Service war freundlich. Aber Essen niemals frisch zubereitet. Wenn man eine Haxe und Jägerschnitzel mit Spätzle innerhalb von 5 min nach der Bestellung serviert bekommt ( noch vor den Getränken) dann ist das schon verwunderlich. Und leider hat man das dann auch geschmeckt. Reine Massenabfertigung. Da gibt es deutlich und mit Abstand bessere Restaurants mit bayrischer Küche in Füssen. Und weil die Bewertung nicht „passt“, hat das Unternehmen die Rezension bei Google löschen lassen! Absolut nicht kritikfähig!

Visiting the city of Füssen, we were looking to try authentic Bavarian food, so away from the pizza restaurants and other places on the main street, we found this restaurant. Delicious food at attractive prices, very attentive service, and good coffee. What more could you ask for?

Except for the roast pork, which was €18.90 too high. €13.50 would have been appropriate. All other dishes were fine. Flavorful/Tasteful Very good. Wait for the food, very short. Will be back.

Good service and huge portions this traditional restaurant. Just a few steps away from the central tourist area of Fussen on Kemptner Str. Roast pork knuckle was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Large portions and good desserts. Cash only

As a tour group we had dinner here Rating 1A, the Käsespatzen whistle a spicy song of enjoyment, but the roast pork and other things are also very tasty, we would be happy to come back, staff friendly and courteous. Local very pleasant atmosphere.

Went there for a dinner with family. The restaurant offers somewhat classic regional food (there are definately good bavarian options). Service was quick and super polite. They don't take cards, CASH ONLY, but it is shown on the menu before ordering. Food was good, would recommend. 20-40€ per person for a meal.

Nie wieder!!! Die Überheblichkeit und Arroganz des Chefs ist kaum zu überbieten. Sowas unfreundliches ist uns noch nie begegnet. Das kann dann auch ein vielleicht gutes Essen nicht mehr wettmachen, am liebsten aufstehen und raus an die frische Luft. Die armen Mitarbeiter können einem nur leid tun. Der Spruch im Eingang zum Restaurant " Bitte seien Sie nett zu unserer Bedienung! Noch immer sind gute Mitarbeiter schwerer zu bekommen als Gäste! " kann sich der Chef selber verinnerlichen, wenn er sich weiter so verhält dann braucht er keine Mitarbeiter mehr weil er auch keine Gäste mehr haben wird!!!

The food was good and solid - the taste was convincing, although not exceptional. After 5 minutes everything was served. Unfortunately, the impression was greatly marred by the unfriendly service. The waiter seemed aloof, almost annoyed, and cleared my plate while I chewed the last bite. This makes you feel unwelcome as a guest. It's a shame - with better service it would have been a better experience.

We were in the restaurant and had knuckle and the Bayern plate. Service super friendly and very fast. Food came to the table hot and very quickly. Can recommend both, price-performance ratio was right for us :)

Our visit to this restaurant was nice, unfortunately ONLY nice. The friendly, courteous, professional service deserves 5 stars, but unfortunately the food doesn't! Price performance (when it comes to dishes) leaves a lot to be desired, as does the selection on the menu. No card payment - that was also very surprising.

Food, service and ambience excellent!

A glass of Schweihaxen and beer cost 23 euros and a tip of about 2.6. The staff was very friendly and nice! It was my first time eating Schweihaksen, and the meat was dry and a little greasy, but it was just right when I ate it with the sauce and cabbage and sprinkled pepper on it. They said it was cash only, but I was sorry I couldn't tip because I didn't have enough cash.

We arrived with 4 adults and 2 children and received a very warm welcome from Patrick. Checking in was super easy. We were also shown the entire apartment and everything we needed was explained. You have to say: great facilities, very high quality furniture, tasteful furnishings, lots of space and spotlessly clean down to the last corner! The kitchen equipment includes all the important dishes, coffee maker, pots, pans and a dishwasher! The location is super central and therefore really recommended. Everything was perfect, whether for a short vacation or a longer stay. We'll definitely be back! Now to eat! If there were 10 stars we would give them here too! Everything was delicious from the starter to the main course to the Kaiserschmarren 🤤🤤🤤 Everything is just right. Price performance is great and the service is also excellent!

We had dinner with 4 people on New Year's Eve 2024. The food seemed to arrive after 5 minutes. Cannot be freshly prepared. The microwave seems to play a big role here. Slightly salt the spaetzle. Our grandson ordered a cordon bleu. The next morning he vomited and had stomach problems for 3 days. Only cash payment possible.

Food was great, Service was quick and polite. Food came so quick and it was steaming hot. Had a good lunch break. The only point was the that the toilet was really stinking. Though it was clean but felt like not ventilated for days.

Visited today and wanted to take a break and have a drink with our toddlers. Unfortunately, the waiter was more likely to put us off and didn't want us to stop there. The question about a changing table would then also be answered in the negative. It's a shame that guests with small children are welcomed here like this. We will definitely not be coming back. Another disadvantage, only cash payment, which was stated on a sign.

Well, the food is served very quickly. There can't be anything fresh about it. Unfortunately the Kaiserschmarrn was only lukewarm, it could have at least been fried/caramelized properly. So really delicious cuisine can be done differently, which is a shame.

We went to this restaurant as a couple and I have to say that the food wasn't bad But when the bill arrived the surprise... not having bottles of water they asked for 5 glasses and without saying it we had to pay 4 euros each....

As soon as you order the food, it's already on the table. The microwave is probably used for cooking here. No card payment possible, only cash.

At the service restaurant, we ordered the Goulashsuppe which was delicious and the knuckle was also good. The waitress who served us was very nice.

We were welcomed very friendly by the waiters. Large menu with many good dishes. The drinks came very quickly and the food came almost too quickly (about 7 minutes). Still, everything tasted good. Service very accommodating and friendly. I recommend reserving a place as the dining room is quite small. Danger!!! Cash payment only, no card payment :(

We were in Füssen for 4 days, 3 of which were here for dinner. Was very good food, super friendly service. For the third time the waiter almost knew what we were eating. All in all great and we would love to come back.

Wir hatten reserviert und eine email Bestätigung erhalten. Die Begrüßung durch den Chef war ein ungläubiges „haben Sie unsere Bestätigung dabei“ und ein „dass wir nur Barzahlung akzeptieren, haben Sie gelesen“ - Grundlage für (k)eine Stammkunden Beziehung. Das Essen war in Ordnung, kam aber fast „in Echtzeit“, musste offensichtlich noch nicht einmal aufgewärmt werden - das überraschte uns dann erneut (negativ). Der freundliche junge Kellner fragte zum Schluss die Standardthemen ab ( noch ein Espresso, Schnaps..) - war für uns in Ordnung, aber wir bestellten nur noch die Rechnung. Und dann kam der Höhepunkt des Abends: während wir zahlten, fragte uns der Chef erneut, ob wir Espresso, Haselnusslikör oder Willi haben wollen. Klingt das nur für mich als „aufs Haus“? Wir akzeptierten, tranken auf das Wohl des Chefs und brachen auf. An der Tür fing uns der Chef ab und meinte, dass der Schnaps noch offen sei! Hallo?! Meinem Widerspruch gab er schnell nach, doch wie sehen Sie das? 19 Jahre hält sich der Betreiber angabegemäss, wahrscheinlich haben wir einen schlechten Abend erwischt. Seltsam

Average prices for very good food and friendly service.

Everything as it should be... The two of us were there for dinner last week with a day's notice. The restaurant is a bit smaller but cozy and the staff is friendly. The roast pork was tender as butter, but was probably pre-cooked at lunchtime as the food was at the table within 10 minutes. Still good and tasty. The red cabbage is also great. The sauce could be convinia. The background music lives up to its name... calm and chill, so you can have a good conversation. Small minus: still mineral water comes to the table unlabeled in a simple water glass. Means: Theoretically, ice-cold tap water could be sold. We would like to recommend the restaurant. If you like home-style cooking and don't place high demands on the food, you can eat well here at a good price. We would come here again.

Food was very tasty, staff friendly and quick. Changing the order from fries to spaetzle costs 1 euro, but it doesn't have to be that way, but otherwise it's really good and clean.

Beware! We ordered a bread basket for $3.8 and when the bill came they had added on an extra $1.9 for a pretzel we didn’t know was extra. They had also added an “obligatory” $3 tip. We gave a $50 note and were expecting change (seeing as the tip was included), but the waiter just walked off without giving it to us, overall we were expecting our meal to be $39 but ended up paying $50!!!

Really bad number .. outrageous - apple strudel without everything 8.90 ... cheaper in every café in Munich .. never again .. extra order from the boss to pay the full price ..

Dishonest billing!!! Be careful!! The food was okay, as you can have it anywhere else. As evidence, attached is a copy of my receipt. I was charged 7.80€ for 2 glasses of water. You are reading it right! 3.90€ per glass of water. Not bottles; glasses of water. Not a single bottle was brought to the table, just a glass of water. When I inquired about the charge, the server just told me that’s what they charge and how they serve it. I have no idea if I was served tap water. Also, the tip was obligatory, never mentioned and included in my check.

Good average, price/performance is right. Good to satisfy hunger, nothing more.? When ordering you will be informed that payment is only possible in cash. But it's ok, I understand the hospitality industry.

The food isn't great and it's definitely not worth paying too much for. After the meal, without asking, a small basket with about 5 slices of baguette was placed on the table, so we thought: "Oh, how nice," until we found them on the bill for 3.80 euros, next to a pretzel Approximately 2 euros that were neither asked for nor brought to us without being asked and an empty plate for our child for 2 euros was also "nicely" included... despite all of this, we were naive enough to give a small tip, for which we were not even a thank you was given. I'm generally willing to pay for performance, but here the business conduct left a worse taste than the food. According to the motto: "If our food doesn't leave you with a bad aftertaste, then we'll take care of it with our pricing policy!" NEVER AGAIN!

We ate in the rustic interior; spontaneously moving from the terrace to the inside (because of the many wasps) was unproblematic. Both the pork knuckle and the cheese spaetzle were very good. Service friendly, but not intrusive. We felt comfortable. The price-performance ratio is still okay. In return you get a rich and good meal.

The welcome here was awesome! The owner was very nice and spoke with us in Spanish! We also received an espresso coffee at the end courtesy of the house! Food was delicious and very typical of the region. We recommend this restaurant!

We had barely ordered when the food was already at the table (less than 5 minutes). This made us a bit suspicious because a good fresh meal takes some time. The waiters asked several times if it was tasty, which was quite annoying. In addition, you can only pay in cash. We wouldn't eat here again because the taste of the food didn't impress us either.

The room I stayed in is for two. The location is great(near the Castle and the trails). Also, 5-8mins walk distance to train station. The wifi is something not so reliable. Parking is available but extra fee.

Dishonest billing! They discretely include their propsed tip in the total price and quote you the tipped total. This should be illegal. Also the place is infested with hornets.

We stopped for lunch. Cash only option was clearly advertised so no problems there. We had Krautkrapfen (both varieties) and Maultaschen. The food was ok but a couple of shortcuts we didn't like: gravy from a packet and salad dressing out of a bottle. At that price not ok. Otherwise pleasant meal and friendly service.

We had reserved in writing and were called back by phone because we didn't need a special reservation. When we got the menu we saw that we couldn't pay by card. Unfortunately, this was not communicated to me over the phone! I then had to go to the savings bank because I didn't have enough money with me. I would have expected that they would buy us a specialty coffee or something. We enjoyed the food, but we had to wait longer for the drinks. So there is still room for improvement in service.

Went there for dinner with 8 people. Service very friendly and competent. Food was very good. There were no hotel rooms there for wheelchair users, but there was a second building in Füssen that would be wheelchair accessible. I haven't checked...

È stata una pessima esperienza perché hanno voluto intrappolarci come turisti. Innanzitutto dato che eravamo italiani ci hanno portato il pane non ordinato al costo di €3.80, poi non accettano carte di credito e, infine, davvero pessimo servizio perché non è stato possibile ordinare una bottiglia d'acqua. Ci hanno fatto pagare € 3.90 un bicchiere di acqua. Avevamo con noi nonni e bambini... quindi abbiamo pagato quasi 30 euro di acqua!!! E dulcis in fundo, per 2 piatti vuoti ci hanno messo in conto €2 a piatto oltre al tip obbligatorio (?!?) di €9. Di fatto una vera trappola per turisti da € 50 in più sul conto! Il cibo peraltro passabile.

We stayed in the holiday apartment 4 years ago (highly recommended by the way) and went there again for dinner yesterday... the delicious, hearty food, the good location and the friendly staff are really recommended! We still think back to our holiday in the holiday apartment! Thanks!

Food was nice, waiters had to be flagged for attention though. Nice atmosphere, alot of cyclists in there when we visited. Please note cash only(popular option in Germany) and bread brought at start is charged as extra, send back if you don't want to be charged. Only place this happened in 3 weeks. Located only a couple mins off main square.

Were there for dinner. Service was very good and very attentive, the owner was very friendly and happy to give tips. A small schnapps tasting was done spontaneously. Food was very tasty. Price/performance was right for us. Cash payment only - like almost everywhere!!!! Unfortunately we only discovered it on the last evening, otherwise we would have been there more often.
