Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food, but we just wanted to have a drink today. We were told that there was only one lunch table left... so far so good. Happens. When my pregnant wife asked if I could at least use the toilet, all I got was a dry no... chapeau... words fail me

The portion sizes are large and some dishes could potentially be split between two people if you’re not too hungry. We had the schnitzel “wiener art” mit Bragële (schnitzel Vienna style with fried potatoes) and turkey ragout (turkey breast filet in a white cream mushroom sauce with knöpfle). Both dishes were full of flavor and it was my first time trying knöpfle (think of a grain of rice that’s puffed up and has the consistency of a scrambled egg with a hint of cheese) - very light and paired great with the turkey. The atmosphere was calm and had ambiance which was inviting for a dinner outing. The gentlemen running the restaurant were really nice and spoke English which was helpful when we didn’t know how to pronounce some of the words on the menu. Great amount of food for the price and is a nice hideaway in the busy plaza.

Disastrous service!!!!! Very rude service and long waiting times. We waited 25 minutes for a piece of cake. Hot chocolate wasn't even lukewarm. Never again.

Today, Sunday, ordered a piece of pear/chocolate cream cake and a latte. Very friendly, multilingual service staff and very tasty. But there is also criticism: a long wait for the first contact, and then no card with you. You then wait again for the card. And there is no napkin with the cake, I have no idea whether the 'colorful uncle' thinks that the customers eat it without any mess. Other guests had to get their own salt and pepper because the main course would be cold by the time someone came. It's details like these that decide whether guests come back. I pointed out the problem of the missing napkin to the lady from service, but that didn't result in her bringing one (luckily I had tissues with me and probably won't stop by again)

One star deducted for the high price. Still water 5 euros, spaetzle 20. But really nice, cozy and tasty.

Ci siamo fermati nel pomerggio per un Drink e Dessert. Personale gentile, ci hanno portato da bere dopo 20min, dopo altri 2-3min lo zucchero che non avevano portato col caffè e dopo ancora 5 min il pezzo di torta.(La torta era buona)

Excellent restaurant! Had the Cordon Noir with Black Forest ham and Appenzeller cheese served with fried potatoes. Felt so satisfied after that! The staff was helpful and recognised that i can't read German and gave me the English menu. Restaurant is specious and comfortable too

Delicious cakes and coffee. The staff was friendly and not intrusive (as in some other tourist strongholds).

I only had a day to spend in Freiburg, and decided to eat here. The service and food was lovely, and the recommendations made by one of the male staff for beer was great. There is an English menu, although some things might not be on there, so asking the staff might give you more options.

Fantastic restaurant with great food and lovely service! I order the special flammkuchen on the weekly menu. The strong aroma of Munster cheese paired perfectly with the sweetness of cranberry jam, and the smoky flavor of Black Forest ham added an extra layer of savoriness. Salad had a great portion and delicious seasoning! Don’t forget to try their classic cheese cake. The smooth texture and rich cheesy flavor were decadent🤤. They have English menu and the staff provided great recommendations! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Freiburg

Nice restaurant with good food, huge portions, very good pumpkin soup and beetroot gnocchi, very good Schwarzwälder cake, interior design and atmosphere are very pleasant, the view of the Munster Cathedral while siting outside or inside on the second floor, but above all there was the wonderful service of the waitress Tamara. Tamara was very attentive and patient to all our special requests, smiling and cordial, Tamara greatly enriched our visit to this restaurant and to the city of Freiburg :)

Entramos para tomar algo con la familia. Las cervezas normales, vasos calientes pero bueno, no se estila en Alemania copas frías. Pero pedimos en la mesa dos vasos de agua sin gas y nos cobraron 4,40€ por vaso.....es en el único bar que nos ha pasado.

El personal era amable, las mesas están frente a la iglesia principal. La cerveza era excelente. Tomamos una ensalada grande con pavo y una ensalada grande con salmón. Todo estaba muy bien y bien cocinado. Estábamos muy satisfechos de nuestra cena. Los precios eran correctos.

Wir haben hier zu zweit sehr lecker gegessen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis geht völlig in Ordnung.

I stopped by this restaurant when I was very hungry. The location directly overlooks the cathedral. I would be greeted very politely with a smile, not always like that as I was alone. I had free choice of seating that evening. The place didn't seem that valuable, more like a pass-through station. But I encountered super friendly service, with closeness to the guest. I, coming from the Ruhr area, decided on Badisches Dreierlei, I had no comparison, but I liked it and the portion was sufficient. I would visit the restaurant again because it was right for me and I didn't have the feeling that I wasn't making enough sales as an individual.

Went there by chance, very friendly staff, great food. The move from outside to inside due to rain was also carried out without any problems.

On May 25th, 2024 we had dinner with six people at Bunter Onkel. Unfortunately an underground experience. - A drink was delivered incorrectly - Starter came after receiving the main course - When asked about this, the waitress claimed that it was always like that in the restaurant. Statement was refuted by another operator. - The first waitress completely ignored us after we no longer accepted the starter for the reasons mentioned above. - One main course delivered incorrectly. - The correct main course (Käseknöpfle) that was delivered later was completely tasteless - and that in a Baden restaurant! - When clearing the plates, no one asked if everything was OK, even though one plate was hardly touched. -The starters were not charged, but the main course was incorrectly delivered. Unfortunately, we only noticed this after we left. In short: substandard service, mediocre to bad food, no atmosphere. Never again!

Good value for money. Very good local cuisine. And magnificent view of the Cathedral from the terrace.

We visited for a light lunch and ended up with huge platefuls of lovely food. 2 of us ordered noodles (macaroni) and 2 had schnitzel. Along with a round of Hugos, we really enjoyed our meal. Some couldn’t finish because there was so much. The staff were nice and friendly and I would recommend a visit if you find yourself beside the minster, and hungry!

Here, the only good thing is the view of the beautiful cathedral square. The food offered is mediocre with very dry meat and bad sauce. Maybe for a beer, otherwise move on.

Very tasty food with a great view. We had free choice of seats and were served very friendly. The food was very appealing, even though there was a fairly small but well-selected menu. Unfortunately we were there in spring and I think it has even more charm if you can sit in front of it and enjoy your food outside.

The cool guy who served us definitely deserves six stars. We ate very deliciously. There are well-known dishes with a Black Forest twist, which we really liked. After enjoying a Cordon Noir, it is a mystery to us why it is even allowed to be available in blue. Black is the new blue. The knuckle was crispy and delicious, the sauces served with it (roast sauce: a culinary delight. Onion-raspberry chutney: monster. Mustard: delicious) were sensational. The fried potatoes are also really good. The Breisgau tarte flambée confidently sent the Alsatian home. The view directly onto the cathedral and the market square also contributed to the good mood.

Wonderful place, fantastic food and a lovely service! I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to taste german dishes and to experience a really nice environment!

To be honest, we ended up here because all the other restaurants were fully booked - basically an emergency solution in search of down-to-earth Baden cuisine. Modernly furnished, we initially had doubts about the cozy, down-to-earth feel. What we experienced was sensational. Very friendly service (thanks Laura), a small but well thought-out Baden-influenced menu. Plus Alsatian tarte flambée. As sausage salad fans, we of course ordered sausage salad. A huge portion, very well prepared. Plus an excellent price/performance ratio. It's definitely not the last time we've been there - we're looking forward to being guests on the terrace in the summer.

The interior is nice, service was friendly, but the tarte flambée wasn't good. With cheese instead of the classic sour cream, dry and quite bland, the dough smelled unpleasant. Relatively expensive for that. Unfortunately not recommended.

Disappointing customer service. We ordered 1 plate of schnitzel and 1 Flammkuchen. Instead, the waiter brought us 2 plates of schnitzel and a totally overcooked - almost burnt - Flammenkuchen. Given our surprise, he simply said „“it’s a bit too cooked but maybe you like it that way“ (!!!) but we refused it. How could the kitchen just ignore this and not replace with another Flammkuchen? Then my partner asked if we could take away (zum mitnehmen) the extra schnitzel and the waiter replied that it’s possible. Unfortunately after we paid and asked for our take away Schnitzel, the waiter said that he threw it by mistake. Just a ˋsorry´ and he left! Did not propose a coffee or anything as a compensation gesture. Also note that if you ask for bread, you will be charged 3 euros for 3 thin slices. Our advice: avoid this tourist trap.

Am 24.12. hier am Vormittag guten Kaffee getrunken....nette Lokalität mit etwas schräger, gewöhnungsbedürftiger und zu lauter Musik.

Wir waren mit 6 Personen nach vorab Reservierung am 2. Weihnachtsfeiertag zum Essen. Die verschiedenen Bestellungen wurden zügig und gleichzeitig serviert. Das Essen war wirklich lecker, besonders Erwähnenswert mein Wildgericht, und das Putengeschnetzelte bezeichnete meine Stieftochter als das Beste Essen, dass sie jemals in einem Restaurant gegessen hat. Service aufmerksam, freundlich und witzig. Preise für die Speisen absolut angemessen. Vielen Dank!

The food was lovely, however I felt super bad for the women and how men leered at their chest area due to the traditional dresses. This is no means to blame tradition, culture, or the women themselves but to highlight to PLEASE respect and protect the employees (and from other employees included).

Ich komme gerne zum Buten Onkel. Dennoch immer im Sommer. Jetzt hab ich es zu Mittagessen probiert. Ich hatte ein Schweinshaxen mit brägele. Hervorragend geschmeckt und der Service war auch gut.

Zu viert kamen wir um halb 1 und fanden ohne Probleme ein Tisch. Zuerst wollten wir uns gar nicht setzen, da uns irgendwie das Interieur nicht so gut gefallen hat. Es passte irgendwie nicht ganz in die Umgebung. Wir wurden aber eines anderen belehrt. Wir bestellen eine Flasche Weisswein und waren nicht so begeistert. Auf nachfrage meinte die Bedienung, er habe noch 2 andere Weissweine. Kurz darauf kam er mit 2 Gläser und wir durften aussuchen, welchen wir wollten. Super Nett. Es gab badisches Essen, z.B. Maultaschen oder Knödel. Es war alles super gekocht, mit fantastischen Saucen. Wie immer grosse Portionen. Es war ein gemütlicher Aufenthalt und wir können es nur weiterempfehlen

Sehr leckeres Essen - wir hatten die Käseknöpfle und sehr nettes, aufmerksames Personal.

Was erwartet man am Münsterplatz. Touristen lokal. Genau das bekommt man. Der Verdacht besteht dass das Schnitzel nicht aus der Pfanne sondern der Fritteuse war und die Brägele ebenfalls sehr Fettig. Bedienung “seelenlos”, ist halt nur ein Job. Keine Freundlichkeit. Keine Art direkt auf den Gast einzugehen. Kein einziges Mal gefragt ob wir noch etwas wünschen. Jedes Mal mehrere Versuche nach zu bestellen. Essen höchstens Durchschnitt. Ist leider so. DANKE an den Inhaber auf die Kritik einzugehen. Das schätze ich. Gibt eine 2 te Chance. Versprochen. Aber Kritik sollte man konstruktiv nehmen. Machen Sie das Schnitzel besser und das Personal sollte jeden Gast wie einen Gast behandeln.

Essen ganz in Ordnung. Leider ortsüblich überteuert.

Toller Service, kleine Karte mit frischen Produkte. Schnitzel mit Brägele ein Festschmaus. Tische im Innen-und Außenbereich. Im 1. Stock tolle Sicht auf das Münster. Tolle Location für festliche Anlässe. Ich werde gerne wieder kommen.

An für sich ein nettes Lokal mit tollen Räumlichkeiten, auch wenn es stellenweise etwas unaufgräumt wirkt. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Leider haben unsere Flammkuchen ziemlich geschmacksneutral geschmeckt und haben, da sie mit sehr viel Käse überbacken waren, vor Fett getrieft. Für uns hatte das ein paar Verdauungsprobleme zur Folge.

Kasnockerl leider viel zu sahnig und überhaupt nicht abgeschmeckt. Hatte mir mehr erhofft. Bedienung jedoch sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Frisch und wirklich noch handwerklich gekocht, also lecker und einmaliges Essen. Freundliches und motiviertes Personal (der Alex) hat uns klasse versorgt. Der Wein war fein und alles in allem prima :) Gerne wieder. Grüße aus Tübingen

Da der Außenbereich teilweise mit Bauzaun abgesperrt war, war es nicht so nett. Die Bedienung war flott, freundlich und hat immer wieder gefragt ob alles in Ordnung ist. Viele Tische im Außenbereich. Drin war ich nicht. Während Markt ist ist es trubelig. Der Flammkuchen war sehr lecker. Preise etwas gehoben aber bei dem Standort normal.

Direkt vor dem Münster, sehr gutes badischen Essen zu inflationsfairen Preisen! Sehr sympathische und kompetente Bedienung!

Die Location - direkt am Münster - ist grade in den Abend rein ziemlich cool! Käseknöpfle haben mir sehr gut geschmeckt und die Portion reicht für morgen nochmal 😆. Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam!

Direkt am Münsterplatz gelegen. War mit meiner Frau zweimal dort essen während unseres Freiburg-Urlaubs. Gerade am Abend sehr schönes Ambiente aufgrund des beleuchteten Münsters. Echte Badische Gerichte wie Schäufele, Maultaschen und Knöpfle. Preise aufgrund der Lage etwas höher als in den Restaurants in den anliegenden Seitenstraßen. Wir kommen wieder :-)

Wir waren in unserer Urlaubswoche zweimal zum Mittagessen dort. Man sitzt herrlich, mit Blick auf den Münsterplatz. Das Essen war gut. Unser Kellner sehr freundlich. Die Wartezeit war teils recht lang aber im Urlaub hat uns das nicht gestört, da hat man ja im Normalfall Zeit.

Die Joster waren sehr lecker. Auch der 129. hat noch Geschmack. Service sehr gut, wenn die Flasche leer sind wird umgehend Ersatz geholt. Ein Stern extra!

Im Herzen von Freiburg. Sehr idyllisch, jedoch teilweise Wartezeit, da sehr beliebt

Super gelegen und leckere Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Hausgemacht... Das schmeckt man. Was aber den Laden ausmacht, ist der super Service. In allen Sprachen gut aufgelegt und super freundlich. Preise sind auf Grund des hohen Tourismus etwas höher, aber ok..

Leckere Brägele mit Wurstsalat und Maultaschen gegessen richtig leckere Hausmannskost.. Beilagensalat war auch ok
