I've been in Germany for eleven days and I've found the food a bit bland even though I'm always looking for the best places to eat. I arrived in Frankfurt without any hope of eating better but I stumbled upon this place that has good food. In ten days this was my best meal in this country. Advisable!

The food was delicious, but unfortunately the portions (side dishes) weren't very large, so I expected more from a traditional restaurant for the price. Otherwise very traditional and rough Frankfurt style, exactly what we wanted.

Rustic Frankfurt gastronomy, the host couple fits in with it. I had gypsy schnitzel from the daily menu and this was good.

Top! The food was excellent! The couple who run the restaurant are likeable and funny of the old breed. As a Hamburg resident, I was very enthusiastic about the old restaurant.

Super essen ob Salat oder Suppe oder das Jägerschnitzel. ein älteres Ehepaar. Man sieht, dass das die Eigentümer sind sehr freundlich.

If you need a break from the city, treat yourself to a beer here in a good environment with honest people!

(For English see below) We made a mistake when we chose this place. One person in our group wanted a drink with their meal, the rest just wanted to order food. Very rude staff told us that this was a restaurant and not a takeaway - you also had to order a drink with your meal. What is that? A new law in Germany? Or was it simply racism? If you feel attacked before eating and want to spoil your mood, this is the place. Never again! We made a mistake by choosing this place. One person in our group decided for a drink along with the food, the rest only wanted to order food. Very rude staff told us that this is a restaurant and not an imbiss - one has to order also a drink with food. What is this? a new law in Germany? Or was it simple racism? If you want to get aggressive and spoil your mood before eating, this is the place. Never again!

Beautiful location with tradition. Here you can still get great draft Pils (even in 0.25l)

Rustic traditional cafe located I a niche location just slightly off the busy shopping and tourist stretch in the Römer neighbourhood. The food is good and the price is very reasonable! The Binding Dunkel is fantastic! A traditional place run by Michael and his wife.

Unfriendly staff who think they can gossip about their customers in their native language (it's a shame if you understand everything yourself because you're also from the country). Food and the mood thus spoiled - sitting down: grade 6!

there are such and such days. Either everything is fine or you are greeted in an unfriendly manner or even turned away from the first second when you order at the bar without any reason, even though the bar is not overcrowded. After our personal experiences, we decided not to go there again due to the poor, incomprehensible, non-economically minded service and find the restaurant to be a disappointment and I don't recommend it if you want to spend a relaxing evening there!

Found by chance, we entered attracted by the "German" atmosphere of the place, which is really nice, the quality of the food (we ordered meat) was in my opinion really excellent (we licked our chops) and the prices are all in average (you have to consider that you are just a few meters from the center of Frankfurt). I absolutely recommend it. We will return. The only criticism is that the reception needs to be improved.

Very cozy and authentically furnished pub in a central location. Delicious fresh beer. The food looked very good, but we didn't eat there. Obviously a local audience, which is often a quality criterion. I always enjoy coming back.

Simple pub, good prices, delicious food

Let me start by this, food was delish. Period. There is a language barrier yes, but please, google translation will do the translation for you, and please do make an effort to be polite, after all, its their restaurant, their country, their language, learn a few easy words like bitte or danke. Rest use google. They do have a menu in English, so no excuse to not try this home made food. The schnitzel with mushrooms was absolutely delish. Or go eat mcdonalds. Your choice.

I cannot leave less than a star, which is a lot here. The place is horrible. Fly you fools!

Under no circumstances should you visit as a guest with black hair. You are ignored by the waitress.

A shop that thrives on its gray regular customers. If you don't belong to this group, you will be treated like an Offenbacher. Service is terrible. Not recommendable.

Given the service, I can't imagine that the pub would think twice about it. Tables are occupied for the "regular customers", reserved for 6:00 p.m. Even at 6:30 p.m. nothing was released for 3 people with over 20 free places. Not even the bar tables. The older “regular customers” then started to insult us because we were in the picture, the game hadn’t even started yet. If you have enough customers, you probably don't need any. The reception was unfriendly, not even a possible solution offered as to how we could fit in. We “have to check that everything is reserved”. Ok, then please check that you are scaring away potential new and younger regular customers with such behavior.

Hier ist die Zeit in den 70igern stehen geblieben. Das macht den Charme hier auch aus. Die Bedienung war ein Frankfurter Unikat. Das Essen war frisch zubereitet und hat geschmeckt und solide. Der Preis war vollkommen in Ordnung. Ist eben zum Glück kein so schickes Lokal, hat aber einen eigenen Flair.

Dont come here if you re already hungry, I waited for my food more than 1 hour! I have no idea if it was tasty or not because after waiting that much everything would seem tasty!

Uriges und rustikales Restaurant in der Nähe der Kleinmarkthalle mit typischer Frankfurter Küche. Das Jägerschnitzel kam nicht wie in der Speisekarte angekündigt mit frischen Champignons sondern mit Dosenchampignons daher. Es war trotzdem sehr lecker. Der Service war ein bisschen behäbig aber ausserordentlich freundlich. Aufgrund des sehr guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis vier Sterne.

Schöne, urige und traditionelle Kneipe.

Come tutti i pub/risto di Francoforte l’accoglienza nn è il loro forte , ma poi recuperano con qualche sorriso e bei piatti ; per essere in centro si mangia bene e si spende relativamente poco

Unweit Römer und Kleinmarkthalle befindet sich diese tradionelle Frankfurter Gaststätte. Schon die durchgehend warme Küche ist lobend zu erwähnen. Seit meinem letzten Besuch im September 2005 hat sich nur wenig verändert. Vor 18 Jahren wurde hier innen noch geraucht und Skat gespielt. Sportveranstaltungen konnte man schon auf dem Flachbild-TV sehen. Einrichtung und Charme des Hauses ist einfach gleich geblieben! Perfekt gezaptes und temperiertes Binding-Pils, sogar in der 0,2 l-Tulpe, Apfelwein von der Kelterei Gessner aus Kleinkahl. Der Chardonnay wurde sehr gelobt, auch wenn es leicht verstörte, dass dieser im ehemaligen Glas des Rollander-Hofs (von der Dachterrasse der Kleinmarkthalle bekannt) gereicht wurde. Sehr faires Preis-Leistungsverhältnis: Schnitzel in allen Variationen mit gut besoßtem Beilagensalat. Die Kalbsleber mit richtig gebratenen Zwiebeln war perfekt. Für den kleinen Hunger passt durchweg das Rührei mit Bratkartoffeln und Gurke. Scheint insgesamt recht gut besucht zu sein: Stammgäste sitzen am Tresen und gegen 15:30 Uhr wurde es ziemlich voll. Die nette Geschäftsführerin Mira Durdic und (ihr??) Mann hatten alle Hände voll zu tun (und das nicht nur mit unserer 13köpfigen Gesellschaft). Das machen sie stoisch im Tempo ihres Alters entsprechend. Hoffen wir, dass die beiden das noch lange Zeit tun können (und wollen).

Urig,gemütliche Frankfurter Wirtschaft im alten Style. Wie der Name schon sagt: " Zum alten Frankfurter" Nette Leute trifft man hier... Freundliche Bedienung und Chefin... Und wer hungrig ist, bekommt auch was fürs leibliche Wohl. :-)

10/10 würde ich immer wieder machen. :) Vorallem war die Beding auch für einen Spass zu haben. Und es war auch kein Problem als mein Kumpel sein Bier auslehrte.

Urig und gemütliche Atmosphäre.

Rustikale Kneipe mit recht guter Hausmannskost. Preis/Leistung super auch wenn das Bier mit 4,40€ für 0,4l recht teuer ist. Einziger negativer Punkt ist das kaum zu ertragende Pfeifen einer Mäuseabwehr oder Ähnlichem im Gastraum…

First night in Frankfurt! Try the old style. This place feels like a German version of a British pub. The staff does not speak much English but is willing to explain, the menu is small, and the drink is super good value.

Bedingungen total unfreundlich. Wir wollten was zu essen bestellen was uns zuerst verweigert wurde. Dann später würde es eine Stunde dauern! Hier muss ich nicht mehr hin.

Het eten is goed, alleen duurt het heel lang voordat je je eten krijgt. We hebben zeker 1,5 uur moeten wachten op ons eten. Op Google stonden leuke sfeervolle foto's echter vond ik het een ongezellige tent.

Nice and calm place to drink beer(binding). I drank hell and dunkel. Also the schnitzel was very soft and delicious! (Salad and fries also very good!). I had a very nice and neat meal in there. Thanks for making me have that experiences.

Das Essen war lecker und günstig. Die Bedienung allerdings eine Katastrophe. Gastfreundlichkeit wird hier vergebens gesucht. Unsere Cola hatte kein bisschen Kohlensäure auf die Frage, ob wir eine neue haben könnte kam nur: „könnte nicht sein, dass keine Kohlensäure vorhabend ist, die Flasche sei neu.“ damit war das Gespräch zu Ende. Kundenservice absolut nicht vorhanden.

Essen war lecker und extrem Billig. Aber gut. Hab die Bedienung gefragt ob man Soße noch zusätzlich bestellen kann. Ihre Antwort: Hättest dir was anderes bestellt. Menschlicher Umgang Fehlanzeige, sehr traurig

Das Essen war super lecker und ausreichend. Der Preis war auch gut. Leider war die Bedienung sehr unfreundlich. Es ist eine Fußballkneipe mit Sky. Zum Glück war die meiste Zeit der Ton aus.

Gemütliche Raucherkneipe in der man die Eintracht gucken kann.

This cozy place is where all stereotypes about German people brokendown for me and you can see they're normal people outside of working hours. I should add that the waitress was a bit unhappy maybe because she was in her working hours mood

Prädikat: BESONDERS WERTVOLL !!! In den Alten Frankfurter kehrt man immer wieder sehr gerne ein. Das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich … und das im Herzen von Frankfurt. Die Biere sind bestens gezapft (unter anderem feinstes Römer Pils). Die insgesamt große Auswahl an Getränken und Spirituosen kann sich sehen lassen. Gepflegte Unterhaltungen mit sehr sympathischen Gästen sowie der erstklassigen Bedienung und den besten Wirtsleuten sind hier garantiert. Die Speisen sind immer köstlich und frisch zubereitet, z. Bsp.: hervorragendes Rumpsteak immer auf den Punkt, Schnitzel in verschiedenen Variationen immer perfekt. Wechselnde Gerichte nach Aushang ergänzen die ohnehin schon umfangreiche Speisenkarte. Die Salate sind stets knackig-frisch. Und das alles zu annehmbaren Preisen. Der Service ist ausgezeichnet: immer freundlich, zuvorkommend, aufmerksam und persönlich. Hier fühlt man sich sehr sehr wohl. Hier ist man bestens aufgehoben. PS: auch die Freunde von Sportübertragungen kommen hier voll auf ihre Kosten. Es werden sämtliche Kanäle aufgeboten.

Also, die vielen negativen Beurteilungen, in Bezug auf freundlichkeit, service allgemein, kann ich gar nicht verstehen. Die Toilettenbenutzung wird, wie überall, von Nichtgästen erhoben. Speziell am Samstag, wenn vor der Kleinmarkthalle am Weinstand Halli Galli ist. Der Veranstalter dort sollte für seine Gäste ausreichende sanitäre Anlagen bereit stellen. Kartenzahlung ab 20€ ist ok. Schließlich bezahlt der Gastwirt Gebühren, so daß unterm Strich für ihn, bei kleinen Beträgen, weniger rüber kommt, als auf der Rechnung war. In Bezug auf Wartezeit beim Essen. Es wird der Reihe nach zubereitet. Wenn viele Leute da sind und bestellt haben, dauert es halt etwas länger.

Klasser Service und super Stimmung, fühle mich wie im eigenen Wohnzimmer. Kommen gerne wieder.

Ein Restaurant mit Charme.Wir waren gestern dort und haben die Mittagsangebote bestellt.Für kleines Geld gab es grosse Portionen und geschmacklich top.Preise im allgemeinem sehr moderat.Nette Bedienung und keine lange Wartezeit auf das Essen.Wir werden,wenn wir wieder in Frankfurt sind ,dort essen.

Wir hatten ein Wiener Schnitzel und Jägerschnitzel. Sehr lecker und eine gute Portion. Der Salat dazu war frisch und ordentlich gross. Sehr gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Freundliches Personal.

Bin zum ersten Mal im Februar 2020 im alten Frankfurter gewesen. Habe mich auf Anhieb sehr wohl gefühlt. Hatte einen Tagesausflug von Düsseldorf > Frankfurt unternommen. Das alte Wirtsehepaar war sehr nett , auch die Gäste nachmittags. Werde auf jeden Fall wieder hinfahren , die 3,5 Stunden mit dem Flixbus nehme ich sehr gerne auf mich von Düsseldorf ;-)

Stopped into Zum Alten Frankfurter on New Years Eve. They were only serving drinks on this day due to NYE. Normally they serve food. Really cool/cozy pub. Service was very good and friendly. Atmosphere is alive and you can tell most people are locals and know each other. Glad we stopped in for a few drinks.

Traditional Frankfurt restaurant with a cozy feel to it. The schnitzels were some of the best that me and my wife every had, they kept their crunch even with their delicious sauces on them, Jaegerschnitzel for my wife, Zigeurschnitzel for me. The goulash soup and salad was also good. Convenient location to many attractions.

Super Eintopf gegessen, frisch zubereitet. Schnitzel auch sehr zu empfehlen, einfach gut. Man muss das Lokal erst mal finden, die Suche lohnt sich.

While walking around Frankfurt, we found this little gem. Not a tourist restaurant - we were the only ones who spoke English while we were there. Schnitzel was excellent - perfectly cooked, tender and moist with a crunchy exterior. I ordered Hunter-style, so ir came with a brown gravy. Beers were cold and the entire meal was very reasonably priced.

Nach dem Weihnachtsmarkt haben wir uns zu viert niedergelassen. Schnelle Bedienung, gutes Bier. Das Essen ganz lecker bei guten Preisen. Die Frankfurter Mispelchen sind lecker, würde ich mir auch im Rheinland wünschen. Ausserdem würde Fussball über Sky geboten, da schlugen doch gleich die Männerherzen höher. Beim nächsten Frankfurtbesuch bestimmt wieder.

Una fantastica atmosfera locale, tra gente del posto che lo ha scelto, probabilmente, per la buona cucina. Il personale non è proprio quel che si dice "cortese", ma va bene, sono comunque professionali. Il cibo è molto saporito e il posto rilassante. Il prezzo accessibile per la media. Aggiungo una conclusione last-minute: i camerieri non sorridono, mai. Non ci riescono proprio. Prezzo totale di quello che vedete: 24,20€

We were looking for a local nice place to have dinner, and we came across this restaurant / pub in Francfort. The food is good, not outstanding but it's worth your money. Prices are low and the food came quickly. Probably not the best restaurant in the area but it was nice, typical and not expensive.

Si quieres un bar castizo aleman tienes que ir. Muy poco frecuentado por turistas, aunque este en pleno centro a 5mins de la plaza RÖMER y de la Dom (catedral). Trato magnifico y servicio rapido. Todo el menu son platos alemanes hay desde platos combinados mas simples hasta carnes y pescados tipicos con guarniciones. Mis amigas y yo compartimos la Sausages-salad with potatoes, Fleischkase ( es un filete que sabe a salchicha) with egg and potatoes y six Nurnberger sausages with creamy horsearadish (salsa que no pica esta bien). Raciones abundantes y de precio unos 10-15 € por persona
