Great restaurant near Mainz Central Station with Mainz dishes and German food in general. The knuckle of pork could have been a bit crispier, but it was delicious overall. The dumplings and the dark beer sauce were also great. We had raspberry mojitos with it, which were delicious and strong ☺️ The waitress was super friendly. We'd be happy to go again.

We had a very pleasant visit to this restaurant. The cuisine impresses with a wide selection of dishes, including vegetarian options. The food was delicious. The ambiance is modern and, due to the high ceilings, rather noisy. Nevertheless, it's a restaurant we'd happily recommend!

This is really a really great restaurant! One of the best stretches I've ever had! The food comes quickly so you don't have to wait long for the food, the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and helpful! I really enjoy eating there! And the design of the rooms looks great! The restaurant is highly recommended. :)

I ordered bratwurst with mashed potatoes and Riesling cabbage. The Riesling herb was good. The sausages were probably already pre-fried and for this reason were hard and dry on the outside. They tasted okay. The puree tasted good, but it already had a dry edge in one place. (Was it plated hours in advance to save time?) I had the impression that the dish was not freshly prepared. My companion's schnitzel didn't taste like homemade, more like a store-bought frozen product. The service staff seemed to be new, were very shy and unfortunately didn't really try hard. When asked how big or how many milliliters the homemade lemonade was, the only answer was: "Yes, normal size, I don't know exactly, I'm not that good at estimating." Even when we were served the lemonade, there was no information about it. I would have liked to have found out then at the latest. She could have followed suit at the bar. During our visit, a customer came in who was very loud and behaved very rudely towards other customers. The service staff didn't know exactly how to deal with this situation and hardly did anything. All guests felt uncomfortable. One man even left. It is irresponsible to let staff with little experience work alone! And this is in the train station area, where such situations are more likely to occur. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

The restaurant is located directly at Mainz main station and therefore very central. The service was good, the food was very nicely prepared, but unfortunately not that tasty. And for what it was, e.g. vegan schnitzel with fries, it was too expensive in my opinion.

We had dinner with 6 people on Shrove Saturday. The waiter was very friendly. The food was delicious and went quickly. The price-performance ratio is good. So, if we're in Mainz again, we'd love to come back.

There were 6 of us there. Since you don't want to eat so much in the evening, we found the dishes quite heavy. That's why 5 of us ordered salad. We mainly got lettuce leaves, hardly any tomatoes, cucumbers or anything like that. Plus hardly any salad dressing. Too bad.

Hello, we landed here on a recommendation, without a reservation, a friendly welcome and OH WONDER that hasn't happened to us at all in the last few months.... After we had our table, the menu + drink order came, a moment later the food order After that everything happened in no time, (super fast) unbelievable, As if they knew what we wanted to eat, hot food, on a warm plate, good portion, tasted very good and at such a reasonable price. I had a bad experience, the waitress got my order wrongly and when I informed him and asked for my original order he said it was not possible, so I had to pay more for something I didn’t ordered and didn’t want to. And he kept during the whole night telling me it was my mistake.

Of course we didn't make a reservation. The service was very friendly and still gave us a table with the note that the place would be reserved after 1 hour. We ordered and received our drinks quickly and the delicious food came very quickly. Great here. We rarely give that much tip, but the service staff were so cheerful and friendly that they were happy to give it. You should definitely eat here. Keep it up

Today we ate another schnitzel with fried potatoes, cranberries and salad. Had a wheat beer with it. I thought the summer salad version only with leaf lettuce, especially radiccio and red beetroot cubes, was great, nothing against coleslaw and potato salad as usual, I also like to eat it. Schnitzel and fried potatoes are delicious. There are better products/suppliers when it comes to cranberry compote, but it's great that it comes with it, it's part of the schnitzel. Gladly again sometime!!!

I've been there twice now and both times I noticed the extremely friendly service staff! This is no longer a given these days! I hope the operator appreciates this! Otherwise everything was nice, the food was nice and hearty (I had the pub dumplings) and the price/performance ratio was absolutely fine. Cozy, even though we were there once with a very large group and once with about 8 people. So absolutely recommended, gladly again!

Das Essen war sehr lecker und ansprechend zubereitet. Ein großer Pluspunkt: Es war auch für Vegatarier etwas dabei. Die Bedienung war äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Ambiente gefiel uns nicht so sehr, es hatte etwas von einer Bahnhofswartehalle. Trotzdem insgesamt eine sehr gute Wahl, wir würden es weiterempfehlen.

Sehr nette Begrüßung, tolles Ambiente! Schneller und überaus freundlicher Service! Das Essen war superlecker und die Cocktails auch! Ein kleiner Punktabzug gab es lediglich bei den Getränkepreisen. Insbesondere der Wein 02 für 7.20€ finde ich schon etwas hoch! Waren zum ersten Mal im Zens und kommen ganz sicher wieder!!

Wir waren zum Mittagstisch dort. Auf der Mittagskarte war kein vegetarisches Essen. Die Schweinelende war lauwarm und zäh. Der Salat war sehr lecker und das Essen war sehr schön angerichtet. Man bekommt beim Bezahlen keine Kostenaufstellung, finde ich sehr unseriös.

On Monday December 23rd we were at Zens with a larger group. After less than 30 seconds, an employee shouted at me in a very unfriendly manner and told me to get out of the way. As the evening continued, the behavior of this one employee towards our group was not really customer-friendly but rather very unfriendly. Although the rest of the staff were hard-working and friendly, a negative impression of this one employee remained with me days later, which I think is a shame for the inn.

We had dinner here on our first day in Mainz. To be honest, the food was nothing particularly special. It was served quite quickly, around 5–10 minutes after ordering. The schnitzel was good, but the beef in beer sauce (I believe it was) was slightly too salty. Food: 4/5 The atmosphere was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful in assisting us with dish selection.

We wanted to eat a pretzel here from the train station across the street. That was forbidden to us.

Pre-order recommended. We only got a table in the uncomfortable entrance area.

The restaurant is actually highly recommended because the atmosphere and the offering are convincing. Unfortunately, there was an incident on my last visit that spoiled the positive impression. Some of the staff seemed very overwhelmed. It happened that customers were pointed out their position in the room in an unfriendly tone and were apparently accidentally bumped into. One employee in particular stood out because his behavior didn't really seem professional that day. The other waitress, however, was friendly and attentive, which balanced out the experience a bit. Unfortunately, a bad impression remains. Therefore, despite the otherwise positive experiences, I can unfortunately only give this rating and hope that in the future the staff will avoid this impression among other customers who come regularly.

Their pretzel pizza was delicious. Very nice atmosphere and plenty of fun drink options to choose from. Food came out quickly and we enjoyed every bite!

I spent the wait for the night train at Zenz. It was pretty crowded. The waitress came and recommended either a Schörlchen or a Helles Kloster Scheyern beer. Good recommendations and a super tasty beer Then tried another Bübele. The Spumdekäs was also really tasty and left you wanting more.

I stumbled in here because the train... cough, clear your throat, oh, whatever... Anyway, I treated myself to an unexpected stop on my own and hit the right "shop" with the Zenz: rustic, cozy, friendly service, delicious food Food (minced steak with mashed potatoes and tomato sauce from the lunch menu) and a hearty Riesling spritzer, which made me happily stagger back to the train station. I'd love to come back!

Drank super delicious red mulled wine and ate very tasty venison goulash. Very friendly and personable service staff who clearly enjoy their job. TOP

I kind of like the feel and atmosphere in the main room, this mix of wood and tiles. There are divided rooms that are all slightly different. Service was quick and nice, well taken care of. Food was great so far, we both had the schnitzel and were very satisfied. The selection of drinks was also convincing and overall the prices for a location right next to the main train station were completely acceptable for the current time.

Wir waren eine Gruppe mit 7 Personen. Der Service war top, da gibts nichts auszusetzen. Die Speisen waren nur lauwarm, die Pommes unter dem Schnitzel versteckt, was dazu führte, dass sie "latschig" waren, das Schnitzel selbst war nichts Besonderes, der Salat war ok, aber nicht überzeugend, die Bratwurst für den Preis hat noch eine Menge Luft nach oben. Beim Gulasch war zu wenig Fleisch und zuviel Beilage auf dem Teller. Einzig die Haxe und der Spundekäs waren sehr gut. Insgesamt konnte das Konzept uns nicht so überzeugen, dass wir nochmal dort essen würden.

We came there spontaneously on Tuesday. David gave us a friendly welcome, quick service, food price performance top! We'd love to come back when we're in the region again! 5 stars! We were there again today. This time Din took care of us. We ordered two chocolate soufflés, coffee and a cold drink. Unfortunately, we noticed that the mango-passion fruit had a bad taste. We also noticed pieces of gelatine. We suspect that it was set with starch but wasn't heated enough. Or the gelatine was not processed correctly. We asked Din to ask in the kitchen if this was correct. Unfortunately there was no feedback until after paying for the four items and we were not allowed to order another drink. When I left I asked if I would get an answer to the open question. He answers immediately with the same content of my assumption. He can't help it. He didn't do it, but feedback would be the least I could do. 1 star!

Es war nicht unser erster Besuch. Service wie immer sehr freundlich. Essen war auch wieder sehr lecker. Auch kann man das Treiben auf den Bahnhof sehr gut beobachten, was unseren Enkel sehr freute.

We had dinner in the restaurant yesterday, super friendly staff. We once had the beer goulash which was delicious and the portion was also right. Secondly, we had the Wirtshausschnitzel with steak fries, the fries were no longer really hot and therefore a bit soggy, the portion was ok, the schnitzel was large, but never had 300 grams. That was maybe 150g. Meat as thin as it was and 150g of breading that was completely detached from the schnitzel, and the amount of side salad for €4.90 was also a bit outrageous.

The sauerbraten was very good, only the potato dumplings could be a little bigger.

I was there for the first time on September 12, 2024 because I wanted to enjoy good German cuisine again and the reviews of the inn are very good. The reception was very friendly, the atmosphere corresponds to that of a tavern with a bar character, overall cozy and rustic. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating, he responded to my wishes, which I found to be very positive. I then decided on the Rhenish Sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage. For my taste, the red cabbage was a little too sweet and a little too much cinnamon, the meat was good and the sauce was very tasty, the dumplings (two pieces) were quite small so I ordered two more, which were served a short time later. Conclusion: good regional home cooking, I will definitely go there again and then try the knuckle... Was there again today September 14th, 2024. This time I tried the knuckle, it was very crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The dumplings were the same as the sauerbraten and a little too small. The cabbage was very fresh and crunchy with bacon, the sauce was the highlight and was very, very tasty. The waiter was very friendly and attentive as on my first visit. I'll go back and tell you, next time I'll try the bratwurst or the schnitzel... I'm excited...
