Always friendly service and delicious food

We were there with our two dogs. The restaurant was completely full on a Sunday. Nevertheless, all the waitresses were incredibly friendly. What pleased me most was how dog-friendly it was. There were two water bowls and even small treats. The food was also very tasty!

Great location on the Mainz cathedral square, when the weather is good you can sit outside, eat Meenz plates and enjoy the Mainz cosiness.

The location is ok, the food's ok to acceptable, it was for my taste much to crowded and loud and the prices were very steep.

5 stars Wilma Wunder on the market square in Mainz is a real highlight! As soon as you arrive, you immediately feel at home thanks to the lovingly designed ambience. The food was fresh, creative and super tasty – we were particularly impressed with the breakfast. A huge compliment goes to our waitress Vanessa: she was incredibly warm, attentive and professional – simply perfect! With her positive nature, she made our visit something very special. Service like this stays in your memory. Thank you for this great moment – ​​we will definitely be back!

On the recommendation of a friend, I visited Wilma Wunder in Mainz and can basically confirm the positive impressions. The café-restaurant impresses with its pleasant atmosphere, which can be felt both in the spacious interior and in the quiet inner courtyard. The latter offers a cozy and sunny place to linger despite the surrounding buildings. Wilma Wunder's menu presents an interesting mix of classic and modern, sometimes unusual dishes. There is something for every taste here: from the traditional “Strammen Max” to contemporary options such as fitness noodles with Konjac noodles for nutrition-conscious guests. Particularly noteworthy is the consideration of different diets. Fortunately, milk drinks are also offered with almond or oat drinks, and some dishes are available in vegan versions. This focus on sustainability and addressing a wide audience, especially vegetarians and vegans, is very positive in my opinion. During my visit, I tried the yogurt heaven as well as the crookie (an innovative combination of croissant and cookie dough). Both dishes were a real taste experience. The coffee and milk drinks were also consistently convincing. The service at Wilma Wunder was very friendly and attentive from reception to the end of my stay. However, it should be noted that the waiting time for the ordered dishes, especially those that have to be freshly prepared, can take some time. This should be taken into account when planning the visit. The prices are in the upper segment, but seem reasonable given the quality offered and the pleasant ambience. The central location of the café/restaurant is another plus point. It is easily accessible on foot from both the main train station and Mainz's old town. Conclusion: Wilma Wunder is a recommended café-restaurant in Mainz that impresses with its diverse menu, cozy atmosphere and friendly service. However, potential guests should take into account the possible waiting time when preparing the food.

Could be great... but if someone stands at the front and assigns seats, but people go in from the side, you can save yourself that. But breakfast was good

Total disappointment! Waste of money. 1) they delivered the meals cold 2) the orders for the kids were forgotten and had to be re-ordered and everyone had to share with the kids at the first place 3) drinks (Spritz) came differently than ordered. You just pay for the atmosphere and location. Service is terribly bad. Food is apparently overrated in the ratings

We had breakfast there. Unfortunately it was just O.K. The bread wasn't fresh. Breakfast was crucial for us, the rest was good. Price is already high, late maciato 4.90 is already steep, breakfast together is over 20 euros, everything has to be right.

A completely successful visit! The service was very friendly and attentive. The view of the cathedral was particularly beautiful – a great atmosphere. The restaurant was also impressive in terms of cuisine: the vegetarian salad was fresh and tasty. The Wiener Schnitzel was prepared in a slightly different but very successful way and was a real highlight in terms of taste. I'd love to come back!

I have to say, overall the whole concept is absolutely convincing. - The ambience is fantastic and incredibly harmonious. - The staff was extremely friendly, attentive and quick. - The homemade lemonades are a blast - one better than the other 🤤 - The food selection and taste? Simply fantastic! 🥰 Especially the truffled fries - incredibly delicious!!! - The cakes look very inviting (but nothing else fit in 😅🤭). Depending on the time of visit, it is definitely advisable to reserve in advance. Luckily we did that and were grateful for it when we looked at the queue. Why “only” four stars? There are actually little things that you can work on, such as the volume of the music. The longer we sat, the more uncomfortable it became. However, since no one else seemed to mind, we felt it would be inappropriate to say anything (which is our fault, of course). We found the prices to be quite high in some cases, although that is certainly a matter of opinion. But we weren't particularly convinced by the price-quantity ratio when it came to the salad with avocado and goat cheese. Last but not least, and this may be complaining at a high level: In comparison to the ambience of the entire interior, where in our eyes everything really fit together perfectly, the toilet seems so dreary and "loveless". Yes, I know, it's a toilet and you only stay there for a short moment, but no decoration, no pleasant smell - Wilma could work a little more miracles. Nevertheless, a successful visit and coming back is not out of the question, the convincing arguments simply outweigh ☺️

.....Service doesn't deserve the name - totally overwhelmed in an admittedly full restaurant - but: last Saturday - gin and tonic € 9.80 - today € 11.40 - to my question, stroppy answer from both the overwhelmed waitress and the obvious head waiter - "were you lucky last week" .......well - there are other options in Mainz.....

The view, if you get a table outside, is fantastic. Classic German dishes are given a modern twist; I had napkin dumplings as a lasagna, accompanied by elderflower spritzer. Very creative.

On the first floor you have the feeling of being in a train station. The volume is unbearable. The tea (Slurp Tea) has no taste at all.

Wir haben gestern Nachmittag zu zweit auf der Terrasse gesessen und beide einen Schlürftee getrunken. Leider waren wir beide sehr enttäuscht, da der Tee nach gar nichts geschmeckt hat und wir das Gefühl hatten, nur warmes Wasser zu trinken. Wir sind der Meinung, dass gerade bei dem Preis, der für einen solchen Tee verlangt wird, man mehr Wert auf der Qualität legen sollte.

Was very well attended. Is nicely furnished. The staff is very friendly and very quick. Food was good and nicely prepared.

We were very happy with the food and the service, despite the full terrace and occupied tables inside, there wasn't a long wait. There was also a small coloring book including pens for the kids and a good selection of food. Children up to 4 eat free.

My only criticism: The toilets weren't ideal, no toilet paper, the floor was rather dirty.

A colorfully mixed menu with delicious dishes. Everyone is sure to find something they like here. I like the diverse selection and especially the different vegetarian & vegan options. The food and drinks are a little more expensive, but they taste great, are freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The service is friendly, but seemed a bit unstructured. I think the atmosphere is really great. It is worked with great attention to detail and is super comfortable. However, you have to keep in mind that it gets a little louder as soon as the place is full. I would recommend making a reservation if you want to eat in a larger group or during “storm times”. I'll definitely be back!

We went quite spontaneously and got a table upstairs. The ordering generally went quite quickly, but when the drinks were brought the waitress was unsure which drink was on her tray. After tasting it was discovered that it was the wrong drink, the coffee flavor was clearly noticeable in the hot chocolate. Complaints about this were not dealt with professionally and the “blame” was rather placed on the customer. When the new drink was brought she said in a passive aggressive tone that she had tried the drink herself and that she didn't recognize the taste of coffee. Unfortunately, as a customer you don't feel like you're really being taken seriously! The food was generally quite tasty, but the portions were clearly too small for the price. All in all, not necessarily the best experience...

Super delicious breakfast and very friendly service. Here you can feel comfortable and take a little break. We always like to come.
