YU GARDEN Restaurant Chinesisches Teehaus in Hamburg

Professioneller Service, allerdings extrem unverbindlich. Kellner war nicht in der Lage, zwei Glas Champagner als Aperitif zu servieren; sehr ärgerlich, weil wir einen Grund zum Feiern hatten. Das Essen (Pekingente) sehr lecker; Aufpreis für 10 weitere Fladen (8,50 €) extrem heftig und m. E. nicht angemessen. Insgesamt enttäuschend.

Ich war mit einem Freund hier, der gerade aus einem längeren Aufenthalt in Shanghai zurückgekehrt war. Ich fand das Essen ganz prima und er meinte, das schmeckt ausgezeichnet und wie in China.

Auf der Terrasse hatten wir heute im scharfen Chilli-Öl gegartes Rinderfilet mit Sichuan Gewürzen und Gemüse für 2 Personen, haben es aber weniger scharf bestellt (s. Bild). Es war wieder sehr lecker und das Serviceteam sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Wir hatten einen leckeren und netten Abend im Yu Garden, essen war top wie immer und auch die Cocktails waren super :) Leider fanden wir den Tisch dafür dass wir reserviert haben sehr sporadisch, ich komme selbst aus der Gastronomie umd würde so ein Tisch jemand geben der als unreserviert kommt ehrlich gesagt. Wir werden trotzdem wieder kommen und dieses Lokal empfehlen.

Please don't go to this restaurant, especially if you are a POC. The staff are very racist, which is mind boggling as they don't appear to be from there! A group of us who were in town for a conference, all highly educated scientists, from all over the world, who also happened to be brown and non-German speaking, visited this restaurant on July 11th, Thursday around 7-7:30 PM. The head waiter was super rude. He could not communicate in English, but our French friend tried to speak with him in German. Throughout service, he was rude and impatient with us and kept telling us to hurry up with ordering when we were asking questions. The food was mediocre, all the people saying on here that this was authentic Chinese food and very good, have never eaten authentic and good Chinese food. I'm from the US, and we have excellent restaurants here with amazing food and great, courteous service. We were so disgusted by his treatment of us, especially as he forcibly added a 10% tip without our permission. When I discovered what he was doing, he insisted it's mandatory in Hamburg to add 10% tip automatically. That is not true, tips are reserved for good service and are up to the discretion of the customer. Normally, I always add tip, but I have never encountered such rude, horrible service anywhere in the world!!!! Afterwards, our friend who understands a bit of German overheard him bitching about us to another customer and he even made a rude gesture to us, when we were leaving! Can you believe the audacity?! This guy is an awful, awful human who shouldn't be in the restaurant/hospitality business, and I hope the owner deals with him. I never wish ill on someone, but I sincerely hope karma prevails! From what I've read of some of the reviews below, there are other POCs who also had a terrible experience dining here, so please consider this a PSA!!!! Sure, the ambience is beautiful, but the food and the awful service are simply not worth it! If the owner actually cares about his customers and delivering good service, he/she will respond to my comment on here. What happened was inexcusable!!! Food: 2/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5

Lokal war nicht voll, nach 15 Minuten auf Rückfrage die Speisekarte erhalten, nach weiteren 15 Minuten ohne Bedienung wieder gegangen. Es war nicht viel los, Kellner haben sich mit sich selbst beschäftigt und durch Nichtbeachtung geglänzt.

Very nice service and friendly staff, I would love to come back

2 stars for the Baozi, the dumplings were tasteless and the sesame ball was fried to death. The staff was just ineffective, but reasonably friendly. Someone put a lot of effort into the location. Unfortunately it's not well maintained, the garden is overgrown and the ambience is exaggerated. At least the prices were high. Overall, I have had much better and more authentic Chinese food in Düsseldorf.

Really uninspired vegetarian dishes like a big bowl of tofu in a mildly spicy sauce with white rice. Cocktails really small, service not r particular friendly, cleared plates when people were still eating. The ambience is nice but the rest not worth it

A really beautiful restaurant with a great design. The food was super tasty, large selection of food and drinks. Very cozy atmosphere & extremely attentive service.

We had dinner at Yu Garden today. The food was once again very good. But the very best thing about this restaurant is the ambience. The temple is so beautiful and it is always very quiet and relaxing in the Yu Garden. The service is also extremely friendly, just a little slow at times. This time too we had to wait a long time. We will come back :) Thank you for this great atmosphere!

Beautiful place with courteous service

The building is very unique! Some of the side dishes on the menu are repeated, including broccoli, mushrooms, and bean sprouts, which is a small deduction. Recommended: Boiled beef👍

The food is very delicious, the service is good, they are very attentive and friendly. The place is very beautiful, especially the outside and in summer it is very enjoyable. Their drinks are well served. The total cost is a little high, if you order appetizer, main course, drink and dessert.

Ate lunch in this beautiful garden on a nice sunny spring day. 5 star for the atmosphere! However the service is unfortunately quite unfriendly and unorganised. Food was disappointing too, just standard "Chinese" food as you get anywere in Europe. Nothing really authentic. Plus the appetizers were served after we got one main course. Second main course came 30 min later!

Very nice facility, with lots of terraces, you can sit outside and feel like you're in China. The food was excellent in terms of taste and quality. The condition very friendly and accommodating. We'll be back because the food was really great!

I would recommend Yu Garden at any time! The small Asian garden, with bridge and pond, is really beautifully decorated! At this time of year it was pleasantly empty in the restaurant and you could enjoy the atmosphere. The food tasted delicious and the staff was also very friendly. There were no long waiting times. Green tea ice cream or one of the different types of tea is particularly recommended. In summer I could easily imagine sitting outside. The prices are okay, but there is a really nice atmosphere. One person in our group couldn't finish his meal and was immediately offered to pack the food. Really a courteous great service!

When we visited on Sunday afternoon in spring, it seemed quite busy outside and a bit cluttered inside. Staff was Asian-friendly. The Peking duck tasted good and was also very reasonably priced. Unfortunately, it wasn't entirely clear that, positively, everything from the duck would be processed and that after the classic course, the rest would be served with vegetables and rice. So we ordered way too much, a bit unhappy because we specifically asked if what we ordered wasn't too much...

See a nice atmosphere - inside and outside. The food is ok - too greasy for me. The service is subpar: the main course is served as soon as the starter is on the table. Dishes are hardly cleared until the plate is empty, coffee or dessert is not even offered. We were there for lunch, maybe it would be better in the evening

Food/Drinks: The food was exceptionally good. The duck in particular was minimally crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I have never eaten Sichuan style wontons in this form before. It was really tasty. Service: The service seemed a bit uncoordinated to me and didn't follow normal restaurant rules. It took a while for us to be recognized as new guests after entering, but our orders were taken and delivered quickly. Ambience: Unfortunately that evening we had what felt like a cat table right next to the toilets (but at least with quick access to a finite amount of salt and pepper). This circumstance distracted minimally from the expected but no less beautiful interior and the beautiful outdoor area. If there was music playing, I didn't hear it. Light plucked music would probably have rounded off the overall impression. A definitely recommended restaurant with a varied offering.

It was a really nice evening and the Peking duck was really tasty. Only the final dish, made from the leftovers with chili, champions and broccoli, could have used some sauce. It would also be great to label the onions, as I unfortunately had to sort them out due to intolerance. Nevertheless, it was just good and I will order it again. Unfortunately, a star deduction for the ambience because we were seated right next to the cutlery drawer and the table for two people was too small for the whole meal :D Small note: The dim sum with shrimp was ordered as a starter, but was only served halfway through the Peking duck.

Super Service und sehr gutes Essen. Einzige minus Punkt ist der Softdrinks. Bei der erste Bestellung war kein Kohlensäure mehr in der Cola und beim Umtausch nur bisschen, als ob die Flaschen lange offen waren. Tip: Bitte kleine Cola Flaschen direkt am Tisch mit Glas servieren, statt umgefüllt von großen Flaschen ins Glas.

From the garden furnishings to the tableware (e.g. teacups), the passion with effort and thought is impressive. Staff was very friendly and hardworking. Food and drinks were very tasty. As a Chinese woman, I got to know a new, delicious tea there. Thank you for the lovely hours and the great experience.

Food is excellent, unfortunately spicy food is not as spicy as expected. very mild. Ambiance is really nice to the point of being unique in Hamburg. More is possible when it comes to service.

Best place in town to enjoy authentic chinese food in nice atmosphere. Dim sum and many other delicious chinese dishes. Mittagstisch also gives you additional discount.

Exceeded our expectations - very excellent! A beautiful property and ambience, the service left nothing to be desired and the food was the finest.

We were there for Chinese New Year - by chance - and were more than thrilled. The food was great, not the standard Chinese menu that you get everywhere. It was completely full but the waiters kept their smiles and the food came to the table quickly. We recommend.

Everything was delicious. The attention perfect and the environment really beautiful.

We had dinner in the evening. The ambience was nice. The drinks were very tasty. But the food didn't appeal at all. It was heartlessly destroyed. It didn't taste like it was prepared by a chef. It was very dry. Sauce was missing. For such a high price you can expect more. We wouldn't recommend it. Price-performance ratio is not right.

In terms of taste, it wasn't a highlight. Apparently the restaurant is too big to really cook with care.

Super delicious food, my absolute favorite restaurant

Absolutely clear recommendation! We had the Peking duck and it was absolutely amazing. Really traditional, because we had already eaten one in Beijing itself. The terrain is fantastic, as if you were in China. We would like to come again.

Delicious food and beautiful building

We weren't disappointed! The four of us had a whole Peking duck plus two starters and a main course and it was the perfect amount. The duck was super tender, but next time we'll take the second course as a soup, because the meat is obviously drier when fried. The shrimp dimsum with chives is super delicious! Great recommendation! We look forward to trying out all the dimsums 😊 The staff was also super friendly and helpful when choosing the dishes. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the toilets are clean.

THE restaurant for Peking duck in Hamburg

Reserved in advance via the website. The reception at 7.30pm on a Saturday was a bit bumpy. The reservation was made, but the table wasn't ready and other guests were ushered past us. There was no justification for this. The food was great, the service was okay too. The placement right next to the cutlery cart was annoying, but there are several of them in the restaurant, so it's not an isolated fate. The background noise is quite loud overall, so it takes some getting used to. But we'll be back because the food was really great!

The starters and main courses were quite tasty, but the service spoiled the meal a bit for me. There was no friendly greeting, you were taken relatively directly to the place. I had a piece of aluminum foil in my main course. When I told the waiter, he took it away without a word, no apology. The drink I ordered was forgotten and only came when asked. These are all things that can happen, but the sound makes the music. In addition, the plates are cleared with a dining cart, together with the enormous noise in the restaurant, you have the feeling that you are in a canteen. It's a shame, because otherwise the restaurant definitely has a certain charm. The meal was only greeted with a “Ready?” cleared away. Later there was ice cream on the house, which was at least a conciliatory end. We definitely won't be coming back.

We have been to the Yu Garden several times now and have varying levels of satisfaction. In the summer we sat on the outside terrace with our dog and had a good time there. It's always very loud inside and the chairs are steep and uncomfortable. The service is always friendly but sometimes inattentive. The food is different. Some dishes are as expected and usual in Chinese restaurants, others are rather disappointing. Last time I ordered an entrecote medium rare and got well-cooked sliced ​​meat from the wok. My wife's pasta dish was tasty, but came lukewarm.

Ich war zum ersten Mal im Yu Garden, und zwar zum Mittagstisch. Das Haus und vermutlich auch der Garten (in einer besseren Jahreszeit) sind wunderschön. Wir bestellten Ente und als Vorspeise einmal die Frühlingsrollen und einmal die Suppe. Alles schmeckte ausgezeichnet, nur leider war das Hauptgericht nicht richtig heiß. Trotzdem hätte ich 5 Sterne vergeben. Aber leider haben zwei Dinge gestört: die Bedienungen waren nicht besonders freundlich, auch nicht wirklich unfreundlich, aber sehr „geschäftsmäßig“, ohne ein Lächeln oder ein freundliches Wort. Was mich aber wirklich gestört hat, war der Zustand der Räumlichkeiten. Das Restaurant ist sehr groß, da ist es sicher eine Herausforderung, alles in Schuss zu halten. Aber an manchen Ecken wirkte es schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen und nicht wirklich gepflegt. Insbesondere in den Toilettenräumen scheint man nur sehr oberflächlich zu reinigen, so gab es z.B. etliche Spinnweben in den Ecken, die im Februar sicher schon lange dort waren. Aufgrund des tollen Essens und des Ambientes des Hauses würde ich trotzdem wieder hingehen.

The ambience of the restaurant is very authentic and beautiful to look at. The service was a bit cold and didn't care about paying any attention to the guest. As a starter we ordered a selection of dim sum, chicken feet and a type of yeast dumpling with a meat filling. The starters came relatively quickly, but without a large selection of decorations and sauces. The taste was okay, but didn't blow us away. Among other things, we chose Peking duck as our main course. Since we were a group of twelve people, some ordered a different main course. Since the Peking duck is served as two courses in this restaurant, the service kindly asked whether the other main courses ordered should come with the first course or the second course of the Peking duck. The colleagues who ordered other main courses then decided that their food should go with the second course of the Peking. However, this did not happen, but was served between the first and second courses of Peking duck. So that meant we ate separately. When the Peking duck was served without announcing it, the service waiters started carving it into wafer-thin slices, which were then placed on a plate on the table with the respective side dishes. The taste of the duck was also not meaningful and hardly differed in taste from normal duck. We would have thought that a crispy taste explosion awaited us there. Unfortunately we did not find this. The rest of the duck goes back to the kitchen and is cut up and served with some vegetables in the second course as a stir-fry dish. Add a kilo of rice and you're done. Unfortunately, this walk was also sobering. It lacked any subtlety in terms of taste. The drinks came quickly and were delicious too. Unfortunately, since a whiskey sour contains 8 cubes of ice, you don't have the drink for very long and have to reorder after three sips. All in one, very sobering. Very noisy restaurant, a typical tourist trap. Unfortunately, there is a lack of creativity and sophistication when it comes to food. Not to mention presentation. It's better to go to smaller restaurants that focus more on quality rather than quantity.

We spent Chinese New Year at Yu Garden. The food was incredibly delicious. The service staff were also very friendly. The ambience in the second room wasn't quite as cozy and for the upcoming New Year we thought there would be more to it. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Nevertheless, we had a very nice evening.

Very tasty, authentic, friendly, clean and fast

Somewhat outdated Chinese baroque, very friendly service and an excellent Sauvignon got us in the mood for the duck we were thinking of. The menu is unusual and arouses interest in trying something different than usual in Chinese restaurants. But we had zeroed in on the duck and were unfortunately disappointed. Duck skin was crispy, but the meat was dry and softened with baking soda so that you could taste it, and the vegetables were too fatty. The sauces weren't our thing, but that's subjective. I think you can do better!

A lunch at Yu Garden is always a pleasure in every respect, it is one of our favorite places. Another wonderful evening at Yu Garden with delicious dishes and a friendly and attentive service team. It is always an experience to eat at the Chinese complex Yu Garden. As always, the food was very tasty and the service staff, as usual, were very friendly and attentive. The entire facility is a gift from Hamburg's twin city Shanghai, and the property was donated by the city of Hamburg. The facility is an interplay of culture and modernity. With the houses, the cloister, the waterfall and the green area, you might think you are in China.

The best part about Yu Garden is the location and architecture. Hat’s off to the people that were bold enough to design and build it, as it really captures the atmosphere and craftsmanship of a Chinese restaurant. In China, eating out is a big experience and Yu Garden captures the experience. Unfortunately the food is not as authentic. The cooking doesn’t quite hit the mark. Too much salt and not enough complex flavours. The selection of dishes is great, however nothing we ate was eye-rolling delicious. Despite the food not meeting our expectations, we still enjoy eating there, as the overall experience is positive. Unfortunately I must mention one thing: make sure to carefully check the bill. Twice we have been charged for items which we did not order! Both times the waiter corrected the bill.

Incredibly good food. Incredibly friendly employees. Lots of space around the tables, lots of privacy for guests. Compared to other Asian restaurants, a milestone in every respect. And probably the only restaurant that serves Peking duck without ordering the day before.

Overall ok... The timing was a bit mediocre, drinks took a long time, main courses arrived while the starters were still being eaten. And we sat quite awkwardly in the entrance area, which may be different in the other seats. The food was good but not special. The ambience is harmonious, especially outside it is certainly good to sit in the warm season...

Tolles authentisches Ambiente mit freundlichem zuvorkommenden Service. Die Speisen sind besser als beim Chinesen um die Ecke. Allerdings war es sehr voll! Es war laut und leicht hektisch. Die Speisen werden mit dem Servierwagen zum Tisch gefahren. Der Reis wird schnell kalt. Und auch die kalte Vorspeise „Auberginen“ war kühlschrankkalt. Die Hauptspeisen waren anständige Portionsgrößen. Ich würde versuchen an einem ruhigeren Tag wiederzukommen.

Essen: Unser Essen war leider garnicht gut. Der Tofu war absolut geschmacklos und ohne jegliche Konsistenz. Nicht nur in einem, sondern in jedem Gericht. Angeblich sei das authentisch chinesisch. Das konnte uns aber keiner mit entsprechend kulturellem Hintergrund bestätigen. Trotz zwei abgebildeter Chilischoten, allgemein ein Zeichen für "scharf" ließ das Essen jegliche Spuren davon völlig missen. Auch Gewürztechnisch war wenig Gaumenfreude zu verspüren. Die Muscheln waren leider nur in Öl getränkt. Von Knoblauch keine Spur. In anbetracht des völlig überzogenen Preises absolut nicht in Ordnung. Das Verhältnis von Preis und Leistung ist nicht im Ansatz angemessen. Zudem waren die Getränke (Softdrinks) lauwarm. Das kann jeder Imbiss besser. Service: Sehr gehetzt, aber ok. Nichts besonderes und nicht besser als anderswo. Ambiente: Sehr schön gestaltet, aber zu eng und zu laut. Es wirkt sehr gestopft im Gebäude und lässt Gemütlichkeit missen. Toiletten: Staubig, mäßig sauber. Spinnweben vorhanden. Alles in allem keine Empfehlung. Von außen schauen und Architektur genießen und wo anders günstiger und besser essen.

Wir waren am Heiligabend in diesem Restaurant. Überwältigend ist schon das betreten des Grundstücks. Dann wurden wir sehr höflich empfangen und an unseren Tisch geleitet. Die Bestellung erfolgte sehr schnell obwohl das Lokal sehr gut besucht war...die Speisen waren sehr lecker und alles frisch in mehr als ausreichender Menge....ich hatte als Hauptspeise gegrillte Ente auf Wok Gemüse, die Ente aussen knusprig und innen Super-zart. Vorspeise und Dessert standen in nichts nach... beim Dessert ( schwarzes Sesameis ) und bei den Spirituosen bräuchten wir Beratung die sehr geduldig und freundlich erfolgte obwohl sehr viel los war... rundum ein top Abend in dem besten chinesischen Restaurant das wir je besucht haben...wir kommen wieder

Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt und war , für unsere Bedürfnisse, reichhaltig. Das Servicepersonal ist flink, freundlich und zuvorkommend, somit herrschte eine entspannte Atmosphäre.

Ich habe heute das 5-Gänge Weihnachtsmenü probiert, in abgewandelter Variante mit einem etwas anderen Nachtisch als angegeben und ich muss sagen es war unfassbar gut. In der Preisklasse habe ich selten so gute Garnelen und so tolles Entenfleisch (Keule, nicht trocken, zart rosa und saftig) gegessen. Mein absolutes Highlight war das Dim Sum mit Ochsenfleisch und Trüffel und das schwarze Sesameis 😋 Ich werde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen, da man Teile des Menüs auch einzeln bestellen kann. Bin ein paar mal vorbeifahren und dachte mir immer, da muss ich mal rein. Von außen schonmal richtig nice, ein klassischer chinesischer Tempel würd ich mal sagen. Und von innen auch sehr cool. Auf der Speisekarte gibts viele traditionelle chinesische Gerichte. Preislich ist es etwas höher als die meisten klassischen Chinesen. Und da ist auch schon der Knackpunkt. Das Essen war zwar gut, aber nichts was man nicht auch bei anderen chinesischen Restaurants bekommen würde und das für weniger Geld. Ich glaube man bezahlt hier schon einen kleinen Locationaufpreis. Was ja auch erstmal fein ist, allerdings sollte man das wissen. Dumplings, Ente, Reis alles gut. Service auch super. Ansonsten einfach geiles Ambiente.

The best part of the restaurant is the Chinese garden. Once you enter the restaurant you feel the hectic vibe. Without the garden the ambience would have gotten one star. Even though the interieur is quite modern and chic. The food was only ok and close to be boring. Service was efficient but not in a good way. They brought the wrong check which was 30 Eur too high. And it took them 20 min to get the manager.

Wir waren im Konzert. Sehr interessant, mal was ganz anderes. Weihnachtslieder auf chinesisch. Sehr melodisch.

Was für eine besondere Location, das Essen im Teehaus war für uns ein Erlebnis. Sehr gute Küche und netter aufmerksamer Service, super für einen besonderen Anlass.

Tolle Pekingente ohne Vorbestellung, die am Tisch tranchiert wird, sehr gute Dim Sums und ansonsten hervorragende chinesische Küche, die sonst noch nirgends erlebt habe.

Ein Mal im Monat gehe ich mit Freundinnen essen. Dieses Mal haben wir uns für Yu Garden entschieden und sind alle sehr zufrieden und satt nach Hause gegangen. Ambiente ganz schön. Sehr dezent und stilvoll dekoriert. Der Service war sehr nett. Das Essen sehr sehr lecker. Wir haben uns für das Festtage-Menü entschieden für ca. 32€ pro Person. Vorspeisen allerlei, 3 verschiedene Hauptspeisen und das Dessert. Wir kommen wieder.

Wir waren zum Mittagessen dort. Tolles Ambiente, leckeres Essen und freundliches zahlreiches Personal. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

by far the best Dim Sum i have had in Europe, food was delicious, and service and atmosphere created a lovely experience.
