Authentic Dim Sum of the Highest Quality We visited Herr Hee on Ernst-Merk-Straße and were absolutely delighted. The food was consistently of very high quality, both in taste and preparation. We tried various dim sum dishes (including har gow, xiao long bao, baozi, sesame balls, congee, soups, and vegetables). We were particularly impressed by the clean, precise folding of the dumplings, the semi-transparent har gow dough (not too thick, not floury), and the very moist fillings. The xiao long bao were beautifully moist without becoming soggy or tearing. The congee was creamy and not watery – a clear indication of sufficient cooking time. The vegetables (e.g., water spinach) were also fresh, crisp, and glossy, not gray or overcooked. Overall, the food gave a fresh, artisanal impression. The dough's structure, folding, and texture alone strongly suggest that this isn't mass-produced frozen dim sum, but rather carefully prepared, high-quality dim sum. The service was very friendly, attentive, and warm. A particularly nice touch: our children received generous portions of prawn crackers on the house – a truly thoughtful gesture. The restaurant clearly caters to Chinese guests as well, which we considered a major plus. It doesn't feel like a "modified" Chinese restaurant, but rather like an authentic establishment in China – the atmosphere, the dishes, and the service all come together perfectly.

The best, authentic Chinese/Cantonese restaurant in Hamburg. Would even give 11 stars, if I could! Last time, we tried the knusprig gegrilltes Spanferkel (pre-ordered) — incredibly tender on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. Highly recommended! The dim sum, especially the har gow, is also a real highlight. Handmade, with perfectly thin wrappers and very flavorful shrimp. Prices are very fair for the quality. The service is super nice and friendly. Evenings are usually quite busy, so booking in advance is recommended. I’ve also tried the lunch menu — equally delicious, though there’s still so much more I want to try. That’s why I keep coming back!

The boiled beef was delicious and made with plenty of ingredients. The service was attentive; they even changed our seats because we had a child with us. We were very satisfied and will definitely come again.

A fantastic visit to Herr He's restaurant! I left completely satisfied and happy. The portions are generously sized, you definitely won't go hungry, and the prices are absolutely fair and reasonable. The Peking soup deserves special mention: it was the best I've had this year! I'll definitely be back.

Overall, the taste was alright; nothing was particularly bad, but nothing was outstanding either. I was actually quite looking forward to it beforehand, because it's rare to find a good Cantonese restaurant abroad. But as a Cantonese person, to be honest, seeing the dry-fried beef noodles that were practically falling apart was a bit of a shock, and I even wanted a refund. It might be considered one of the better Chinese restaurants in the burger category, but it falls short of being a truly authentic Cantonese dim sum restaurant.

I've always wanted to come here. Well, once and never again. Absolutely nothing impressive, not a single dish was convincing. Besides, it's cold because the door always closes towards us, and the toilets are awful.

It was sooooo delicious. There were six of us, and we had a round table that could be rotated. It was perfect. We ordered everything we wanted and shared it. Everything we had was incredibly tasty. We would come back anytime. My new favorite place. If you're expecting something fancy, you're in for a surprise. Here, it's simple, authentic, and incredibly delicious. Love it.

The food choice was huge, it made us counfused and I kinda doubt the quality of all options. For example; why would you have a pastel de nata here?? Lot of finger food, which were nicely presented, but tastes were rather bland. Fried duck was nicely roasted, but dissapointed dunkel sauce is actually just plain soya sauce. It was okay but overall nothing spectacular, would rather try other options next time.

We regularly go to Mr. He's for lunch and were satisfied until last week. There was always the issue that the food never arrived at the same time, but last week, despite asking twice, I didn't get my food until my colleagues had finished and were about to pay. I then took my food to go and ate it alone in the office so my colleagues wouldn't have to wait any longer. No apology – they weren't at all embarrassed. Unbelievable. Thank goodness there are plenty of other restaurants nearby.

We received a very warm welcome and were able to choose our own table from several available options, even without a reservation. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, making us feel right at home. Both the drinks and the food were absolutely delicious. The portions were perfectly adequate and exactly what you'd expect for a fair price. We were particularly impressed by the fact that, in addition to the typical Chinese dishes, they also offered traditional Chinese cuisine – something we hadn't experienced in a Chinese restaurant before and found to be a wonderful addition.

I ordered vegetarian, repeatedly stated "without meat," but it was still served with meat! That's absolutely unacceptable!

An absolute disaster, unfortunately. Rude staff. No service whatsoever; we had to write down our order ourselves, although we were given a pad and pen. The toilets were filthy. The quality of the food was the only thing that saved it from one star. The visit was absolutely unpleasant.

Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly. Years ago, I was a big fan and always enjoyed coming back. From fresh produce, now it's all frozen and pre-prepared. On top of that, there's only one friendly server – a small woman with glasses. God help you if you get her with a glass of rosé in her arms. The food is slammed down on the table. They don't even look at the menu. We were offered food from other people several times, and my soup ended up at another table. After the other guest had slurped into my soup, the same soup was brought back to me with the claim that no one had touched it yet. I clearly stated that I didn't want that soup anymore, and after some grumbling and ten minutes, I finally received my appetizer. We were then asked if we were finished and wanted to pay, even though three dishes were still missing. These arrived two minutes later, so much for freshness. Furthermore, the waitress was too lazy to bring a soy sauce to the table. With the words: The sauce is for two tables, you'll have to take it from the next table. It's such a shame, Herr He used to be a top-notch place, and now we'll be avoiding it. And then there's the price 🤣

I came to Hamburg from Frankfurt for a business trip and have now eaten dinner here two evenings in a row. The authentic Chinese flavor surpasses any Cantonese cuisine in Frankfurt. Five stars – highly recommended.

The restaurant is located in a lively area, and we were greeted politely as soon as we entered. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is fresh and of very high quality; it tastes delicious, and there's something for everyone, young and old. There were four of us: two adults and two children (8 and 11). The children were so enthusiastic, and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

Pretty average Cantonese food. The wanton soup lacks any flavour whilst the wantons themselves are only with minced pork and no prawns. The fried beef noodles lack enough wok hei.

If you want to eat authentic homemade dim sum, Herr He is the place to go. Super delicious, fresh, and tastes fantastic. For dim sum, this is the place to be and the best choice in Hamburg. Because everything is so fresh and delicious, waiting is part of the experience. Don't get impatient 😉 It's worth it!!!

This small but charming shop is located right next to the main train station and is therefore very easy to reach. The Peking duck and the various dumplings were absolutely delicious. The service is quick, friendly, and attentive. Overall, a positive review and highly recommended if you're looking for simple, authentic, and tasty Asian cuisine.

!!! WONDERFUL !!! Guys....I rarely give such reviews. The food, the experience, the service, the taste, everything was incredible! Ordered a wonton soup, 3 Dim Sums, one triple meat platter ( pork, duck and a special made pork ), huge bowl of rice, and some drinks ( they don't matter ). The crispy pork belly, spiced with soy sauce and a touch of special spicy mix, was rightfully, out of this world. It literally melts in your mouth. If you are into chinese cuisine, DO NOT MISS this restaurant! You will regret! Enjoy your meal, everyone!

Sunday evening, 8 p.m. Our first time at Herr He's. Very tasty, plentiful food, very reasonable prices, and very friendly service. The fact that about half the guests were apparently Chinese probably speaks volumes about the rather traditional cuisine. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back when we're in Hamburg.

Unfortunately, the menu is still very meat-heavy. But everything I've ordered so far has always been truly delicious. The service is friendly. The decor is rather plain.

As a Chinese girl, I can't recommend this place, Dimsum was not good, siu mai was acceptable. Nice big restaurant and good service though and the ho fun looked good, so perhaps they have other strengths.

This Chinese restaurant is the best in all of Hamburg! It's my regular restaurant – everything is prepared fresh daily, tastes excellent, and the atmosphere is pleasant and very clean. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hamburg. They completely avoid frozen food here – everything is fresh and authentically cooked.

I went to see Mr. He with my daughter and we were both very impressed! The food was so delicious that we tried several dishes, the service was superb, the restaurant was beautifully decorated and there were a lot of Chinese people there, which is a good sign. With the large selection of steamed snacks (dim sum), it is difficult not to become a culinary multi-tasker. The range has also been slightly expanded since April. Service is super nice. In my opinion, the ambience is pleasant, lively but not disturbing. On the contrary, many Asian-looking people eat there, which for me is also the best compliment to the restaurant.

Small and clean Chinese restaurant at the back of Hamburg main station in 5 minutes. Accessible on foot. There are all the “Chinese town food” that you are used to in the EU. The only drawback: the toilet in the basement can only be reached via many steps. Therefore not handicapped accessible. Good dinner in a quiet atmosphere, away from the busy train station, before continuing your journey by train.

The best Chinese I've been to in years.

This Cantonese restaurant is very authentic, retaining the original flavor without localization. The portion is relatively large, suitable for 2-4 people to share. The environment is elegant and the seats are spacious. The transportation location is convenient and easy to find with Google Maps. You can pay by card. There is also a set menu for 10 euros at noon on weekdays, which is very good. Welcome everyone to come and have a taste of home.

Unfortunately, we couldn't eat the food we ordered (dim sum) in the restaurant as planned. The staff were incredibly accommodating ensuring we had everything to go with us including cutlery and sauces. All dishes were on point and super tasty. We are very grateful! Clear recommendation ☺️

Delicious, so delicious, the xiaolongbao and egg tarts are really amazing... the xiaolongbao is just like the taste of my childhood, it has the ginger flavor but it blends well! The dry fried beef river has plenty of moist ingredients! There is a whole pork belly in the eggplant pot... Who knows, it's so delicious, it's so delicious ~ the money belly is also very tasty!

It was so delicious, next time I'll wear pants with elastic. The food was terrific, whether it was wonton, duck or chicken with cashew nuts, everything tasted excellent and better than any other Chinese restaurant, making it the BEST Chinese in Hamburg, everyone else was knocked off their throne. The service was very friendly, didn't rush and brought the starters one after the other so that you could enjoy everything in your time. Until next time, YOU ARE AWESOME!
