Ya The Mandarin Room 黄鹤楼 in München

First of all, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. the gentleman who greeted us was very nice, BUT when we first sat down, they brought us someone else's food. We told them we hadn't ordered it, and they took it away. Then we ordered two main courses. Mine came, but my wife's took a long time. After an hour, we called the waiter and asked about it. He said they had given hers to the wrong person and apologized, but they still didn't bring our food. We waited a while longer and called the waiter again. He said there was nothing he could do, that it just happened that way. But at a restaurant where we paid so much money, my wife and I couldn't enjoy a meal together on our anniversary. The meals were supposed to arrive within an hour of each other. Unfortunately, the staff shouldn't be like this in such a restaurant. We had to pay for one meal and went to another restaurant. IF YOU GO THERE, ASK THE WAITERS ABOUT YOUR MEAL 10 TIMES. THEY MIGHT MIX UP YOUR ORDER. WE WERE EMBARRASSED WITH OUR MONEY.

Food is phenomenal and great value. The service is friendly and accommodating but not quite on the highest level.

Such a beautiful and refined place to eat. we chose Ya to have our last dinner in Munich, before going back home, and it was a pleasant choice. We had a salmon tartar, a duck plate and a shrimp one. It was all very good and rich in flavour, but I think the portion could be a little bit larger, especially considering the price. Shout out to the spicy gravy of the salmon tartar, which was very good. to drink, we had water and a Munich Mule, which could be a little stronger in alcohol, but it was good.

It all exceeded my expectations! Just WOW!!! And so fast!

Great atmosphere and very tasty food.

We've been there four times now, and as always, the food is top-notch! No doubt about it. Unfortunately, the service has gotten significantly worse. First, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a menu. This was followed by another 10 minutes waiting for drinks. The waiter wanted to leave the table after each drink, even though not everyone had ordered yet. While the food was being brought, the waiters barely took the time to explain what the food was and which menu it belonged to (annoying when there are vegetarians at the table). The last dish then took another 40 minutes to arrive. Although the food is truly excellent, the poor service marred a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, not good for the prices the restaurant charges.

Having reviews deleted because you don't like them... How awesome are you? And now you have 4.7 stars again. First of all: the food was great! The first three courses in particular were phenomenal, and the decor is atmospheric and beautiful... unfortunately, the food and the surroundings aren't everything at this price point. The welcome was perfectly fine. The service was attentive at first. The food then came incredibly quickly, one after the other, and the offered break before the main course was completely forgotten. About an hour after we arrived, when we had just finished eating and had actually ordered two more cocktails, we were rudely asked if we could sit somewhere else. We hadn't even had a chance to say yes (or no) before our drinks were taken and placed at a small table in the entrance area, which was far too bright, cooled down by the air conditioning, and drafty. Theoretically, it wouldn't have been so bad to sit somewhere else. But we would have liked to have had a choice. For a €150 dinner, that's a no-go for me! We've rarely felt so unwelcome. What made our impression even more pronounced was that my partner had left something at his table. 10 minutes after we were chased away, our table and the one next to it were still free...

We had done a few set menus and it was great to taste many of the dishes. The food quality and the flavours are great. Though the price point is on the high side for Chinese restaurants. The service is friendly, attentive, and efficient, adding to the overall warm experience.

This used to be the best spot for a Chinese lunch on the weekends but they completely changed the concept. You now can’t order a la cart anymore or come as a walk in. You have to make a reservation and eat a set menu which does not sound very good at all.

To the owner: we’ve been coming here for 4 years for lunch on the weekend. We arrived at 1pm to be told you have a new concept and we will not be seated because we were here too late. Incredibly stupid that you don’t have a way to accommodate people that arrive without knowing or your regulars that have supported you for years. Very disappointing. The new concept is not good, €50 for a stupid amount of food that nobody wants. There will be so much food wasted. Please reconsider allowing people to order of the normal lunch menu.

We didn't have a reservation and had to wait an hour for a table, but we received a very warm welcome and were given a nice table. The food was delicious. However, it should be noted that you have to like chili (Menu 2), which wasn't a problem for us.

Amazing place and high quality food - 10/10. My guests were very impressed with the food and the service. On a side note, please fix the locks in the toilet, or make them more disabled friendly. I got stuck in the bathroom for a few minutes there and i freaked out. Im super claustrophobic. But I will be back for sure! Love this place.

We were dining with a larger group, and when there was a problem with a main course, the succinct comment was simply that it was normal for not all dishes to arrive at the same time. I don't think a 45-minute delay is appropriate in a restaurant like this. The appetizers on our menu also arrived, not one after the other as usual, but almost all at the same time. This made it feel like you had to eat everything quickly to finish. Unreasonable for an upscale restaurant.

Not only is the ambiance spectacular, but so is the food and service. There were six of us, and we ordered a wide variety of dishes, and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Furthermore, the service was extremely friendly and prompt. Overall, a very pleasant experience. We'd go back anytime!

Very pleasant atmosphere and excellent food

I made a reservation for six people for my birthday. As soon as I walked in, I was like, oh, it's my birthday. No congratulations, nothing. Then the cards were slammed on the table, questions weren't welcome. Ordering was chaotic. The food itself was good, but after the first two courses, there was a break of almost an hour. Then it continued uncoordinated. The waiter was personally insulted when he was asked to clear away the used cutlery and glasses. I've known the YA since it opened, and the completely unprofessional service ruined it! Won't bother the boss because the place was packed on a Monday! The price is exorbitant for this service. They only offer two-person menus, at least €45-50 per person. With drinks, etc., it easily comes to €60-70 per person; in our case, it was over €90. Huge disappointment, never again!

Had to be actively asked to clear table of used dishes. Every single course. Wine list not updated. So the first three options we ordered were ‚out‘. Tedious. Food was average at best. And below average mostly. Example: the sashimi (the one that came basically immediately) was served with lettuce leaves, peanuts, raw onions and without asking the service poured some soy/ponzu/sesame „dip“ over everything. A home-style restaurant in Munich. It's best to prepare at least €40 for each visitor if you want to eat your fill. Unfortunately, we brought less money this time. The dishes were good, but not amazing. You also have to be very patient while waiting for service. What I like is that they offer a presentation of the dishes.

Friends asked us to meet here for dinner. It was quite difficult to find, although directly located in the Leopoldstr. The restaurant is downstairs-with relatively low ceilings (a little claustrophobic in my view) but nicely decorated. There are different spaces with tables separated good enough to be able to have conversations without being eavesdropped by the next table. The food is set up in different menus with duck as the main dish. Overall it was tasty but some of the dishes were not great - WanTan was very oily and Brocoli brought alone as a dish in the menu was quite boring. The spinach was delicious and the duck also. The hummer 🦞 at the end was dry and difficult to chew. The wine list is good with local and international wines. I was glad to find a new restaurant in Schwabing, will not become my place to go every month, but definitely a restaurant to visit once or twice a year.

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant in Munich. I have come on multiple occasions with friends and/or family. The food is amazing. The staff extremely kind and attentive. And the ambiance is stunning. The Ya signature menu is my favorite, however I have never been disappointed by any of the dishes they serve.

Very nice to sit outside and classy mellow atmosphere downstairs. Works mostly with 100€ 6 course menus, but a la carte is also possible.

The beef potstickers had too much soy sauce, the fried rice was soggy and sticky, one of the two clams was empty, try to trick the foreigners into eating swill

I came here for lunch and it was really good. I like the atmosphere and the interior here, will definitely come back for dinner. I drove from Nuremberg to Munich just to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint. I tried the Shumai and Beef dumplings, they all were super delicious and fresh.

Wir waren eine größere Gruppe und hatten einen runden Tisch in einer Nische. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam und das Essen (verschiedene Vorspeisen und Menüs welche wir geteilt haben) hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Alles in allem eine absolute Empfehlung.

Aufgrund eines Gutscheins waren wir ein zweites Mal vor Ort. Das erste Mal war im Februar 2024, darüber habe ich auch einen Bericht verfasst. Somit wußten wir bereits was uns erwartete. Diesmal baten wir explizit um eine langsame Speisenabfolge. Das stellte den Service vor eine besondere Herausforderung. Da wir a la Card speisen wollten, konnten die Hauptgerichte noch nicht bestellt werden, weil die Küche sonst denkt, wir müssten zu lange warten. Im Umkehrschluss ist alles darauf ausgelegt, die Speisen in schneller Reihenfolge an den Tisch zu bringen. So orderten wir erst einen Dumpling Mix für meinen Mann ((17,90 Euro) sowie einen Pfannkuchen (14,90 Euro) für mich. Ich wurde direkt darauf hingewiesen, dass der Pfannkuchen schneller geliefert wird als die Dumplings. Hier zeigt sich das Problem der Küche. Sie schafft es nicht, die Zubereitung der Pfannkuchen zu verzögern. So kamen die Dumplings auch erst 8 Minuten nach den Pfannkuchen. Bei den Dumplings handelt es sich um jeweils 2 verschieden gefüllte Teigtaschen. Eine Sorte war lt. Karte mit Garnelen und die andere mit Rindfleisch gefüllt. Erst beim Servieren erfuhren wir, dass neben den Garnelen auch Schweinefleisch enthalten war. Leider schmeckte dies laut meinem Mann zu sehr vor und hatte auch den deutlich größeren Anteil. Grundsätzlich hätte dies auch auf der Karte angegeben werden müssen. Die mit Rindfleisch gefüllten, waren kleiner und insgesamt gut gewürzt. Der traditionelle chinesische Pfannkuchen mit Lauch war knusprig, aber leider etwas zu fettig. Dazu gab es hausgemachten Humus und eine Gewürzmischung. Letzteres schmeckte sehr interessant. Danach hatten wir uns für die Kanton Ente (35,90 Euro) sowie für mich den Dumpling-Mix nur mit Rindfleisch und Potstickers (17,90 Euro) entschieden. Für die drei Gerichte wurde es schon eng auf dem kleinen Tisch. Mein Mann kannte die Ente schon von unserem ersten Besuch. Diesmal kam sie nicht auf dem Porzellanteller mit Entengesicht sondern auf einem kleineren und war eher unschön drapiert. Das ganze Fleisch lag übereinander. Auch diesmal war die Haut leider nicht knusprig, aber das Fleisch war geschmacklich gut. Meine Potstickers waren einen Art gebratene Dumplings und mit Black-Angus Rinderhackfleisch gefüllt, verfeinert mi einer 5-Gewürze-Mischung und Lauch. Das ganze sah toll aus, weil es in einer Art Spinnennetz eingebacken war. Es schmeckte alles sehr gut, aber auch hier war mir das ganze zu fettig. Der Inhalt der vier Dumplings war identisch, nämlich Rinderhack. Der Service war stets präsent und freundlich. Doch die Tische stehen nach wie vor sehr eng, private Gespräche sind tabu. Mir ist es insgesamt zu teuer und etwas zu sehr auf schick ausgelegt, soll heißen Ambiente schlägt Essen.

Er machte uns nach zwei Stunden und fünf Minuten nach unserem letzten Schluck Wein und nach einem Menü für rund 150 Euro für zwei Personen darauf aufmerksam, dass wir bitte gehen sollten, wenn wir keine weitere Bestellung aufgeben. Dies sei in München so üblich. Es waren aber noch x Tische frei. Schade, dass bei der Personalfindung so ein Fehlgriff passiert ist. Kein Lokal mehr, in dem man einen schönen Abend in freundlichem Ambiente verbringen kann.

Wir waren zu zweit in diesem chinesischen Restaurant. Insgesamt war die Atmosphäre sehr angenehm. Außerdem waren die WCs sehr sauber. Nachdem wir uns zu unserem Tisch begaben und uns für ein Menü entscheidet hatten, müssten wir ganz schön lange darauf warten, dass wir bestellen konnten. Wir haben ca. 15 min gewartet. Als das erste Mahl unseres Menüs gebracht wurde, hat der Service das umgekippt und es auf den ganzen Tisch verteilt. Er entschuldigte sich nicht einmal und machte sich nicht einmal die Mühe, das Wasser aufzuwischen. Das ganze passierte noch einmal, als die Bedienung Sprudelwasser mit stillem Wasser vermischte, da kippte nochmal etwas Wasser über den Rand des Glases. Nicht mal eine Entschuldigung, sondern einfach weggelaufen. Das finde ich persönlich nicht so toll. Die Ente ist aber sehr empfehlenswert. Genau wie der Rest des Menüs. Der Preis ist wirklich sehr teuer. Ich würde dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen, wenn man genug Mumm hat, sehr viel Geld auszugeben. Aber das Essen ist wirklich exzellent. Super chinesische Küche.

Im Ya war ich schon einige Mal beim Essen, das Delight Menü kann ich wärmstens empfehlen, es ist wirklich ein Geschmackserlebnis ! Jeder Gang ist ein Genuss. Einziges Manko, manchmal kommen die einzelnen Gerichte sehr schnell hintereinander, da könnte etwas mehr Zeit vergehen, zwischen den Gängen.

Sehr schönes stylisches Ambiente direkt an der Leopoldstrasse mit sehr kreativer chinesischer Kanton Küche! Die Menus für 2 Personen mit sehr gutem Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis sind sehr zu empfehlen! Ob Entensalat ; Lachs Tartar , Dumplings oder klassische Kanton-Ente- die Gerichte im Sharing-Prinzip sind sehr experimentierfreudig und wunderbar spicy gewürzt! Tienes que encontrar la entrada y no equivocarte de puerta, baja unos escalones y encuéntrate en un lugar que desprenda una impresión relajante. La decoración de color oscuro combinada con materiales naturales es acogedora. El menú del almuerzo es reducido y ligeramente desconcertante pero permite crear un menú seductor (30€ ) . La ensalada de rábano es sensacional. Las camarones dim sum son excelentes, menos corbata de guo de res a pesar de una tortita muy delgada que los mantiene calientes. La ternera terryaki en arroz a la parrilla es excelente a pesar de la trufa que la desnaturaliza un poco. Servicio delicado y muy profesional. Volveré para cenar ya que la decoración oscura se adapta mejor al espacio.
