Ya The Mandarin Room 黄鹤楼 in München

We went to the Flying Brunch with dim sum today. It wasn't exactly cheap, but very good and plentiful, including drinks. What was annoying, however, was that the waiter told me at the end that I wasn't allowed to take the leftovers. It wasn't a buffet, but the food I had paid for, which was then simply thrown away. Not very sustainable or customer-friendly...

We had a lovely evening at Ya. We ordered the Classic and Veggie menus. The Peking duck and the prawn crackers were our favorites! The duck was incredibly juicy and tender. The beetroot salad could have used a bit more flavor, but otherwise, all the courses were solid. It would be nice to serve more pancakes with the duck; they ran out quickly, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for more. A minor criticism: unfortunately, despite having a reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes for our table, and in my opinion, the service could have been a bit more attentive.

As an authentic Chinese diner, I can confirm that — apart from the roasted duck — most of the dishes here are not truly authentic Chinese cuisine. However, despite the lack of authenticity, everything tastes absolutely terrific and clearly carries some Chinese DNA in its flavors and presentation. The decoration of the restaurant is very elegant and cozy, creating a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy your meal. A special compliment goes to the waitresses, who are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and efficient. Their warm service really elevates the whole dining experience. I will definitely return again! Highly recommended!

Great place for a business dinner. Top level food, but the menu is quite big and confusing. The staff is super friendly, but the place seems a bit understaffed. All in all, a great place, good food.

A very tastefully decorated restaurant where you immediately feel comfortable. Excellent and friendly service, and the food was truly outstanding! However, the prices are quite high.

Today was my first visit to YA. And I can highly recommend a visit! For many, the most important thing is that the price-performance ratio is excellent! The service is also very attentive and always keeps an eye on your table. I especially appreciate the option to create my own menu from the set menus or à la carte options! 😋 I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit.

Nicely decorated, delicious food, hot biang was very spicy

We were there for lunch. The ambiance is really commendable. However, the portions were quite small, and the filling in the beef dumplings was simply hard and not really edible. I think the dinner menu is a bit better. It was still a nice visit though :)

Excellent👌🏻In the evenings, they offer menus designed for two people. We opted for the ya Classic. Every course was a real treat for the palate. The duck, which I unfortunately didn't photograph, was the best I've ever eaten. If you're looking for something special to eat with Asian food, you've come to the right place. The ambience is warm and authentic. The server, a gentleman from China, gave us excellent advice and made us feel completely at home 👌🏻. A shout out and praise goes to the chefs at this restaurant, the food was not only first-class but also a feast for the eyes 👌🏻We were there with our two children, who naturally loved this special evening. It should be noted that only set menus are offered in the evenings, and these can be adapted upon request. Beautifully decorated, the entrance is unassuming and leads into a cellar where a culinary highlight awaits. I was there for lunch, and the prices are absolutely reasonable, even too low for the quality and presentation. I can recommend the fried noodles with pulled duck and the Black Angus dim sum.

We had a wonderful evening at the Mandarin Room. The food was excellent, and the price for the menu was really fair. Service was very prompt and extremely friendly. We felt truly at home. The ambiance was very pleasant and a bit darker, which is ideal for a nice date night.

First of all, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. the gentleman who greeted us was very nice, BUT when we first sat down, they brought us someone else's food. We told them we hadn't ordered it, and they took it away. Then we ordered two main courses. Mine came, but my wife's took a long time. After an hour, we called the waiter and asked about it. He said they had given hers to the wrong person and apologized, but they still didn't bring our food. We waited a while longer and called the waiter again. He said there was nothing he could do, that it just happened that way. But at a restaurant where we paid so much money, my wife and I couldn't enjoy a meal together on our anniversary. The meals were supposed to arrive within an hour of each other. Unfortunately, the staff shouldn't be like this in such a restaurant. We had to pay for one meal and went to another restaurant. IF YOU GO THERE, ASK THE WAITERS ABOUT YOUR MEAL 10 TIMES. THEY MIGHT MIX UP YOUR ORDER. WE WERE EMBARRASSED WITH OUR MONEY.

Such a beautiful and refined place to eat. we chose Ya to have our last dinner in Munich, before going back home, and it was a pleasant choice. We had a salmon tartar, a duck plate and a shrimp one. It was all very good and rich in flavour, but I think the portion could be a little bit larger, especially considering the price. Shout out to the spicy gravy of the salmon tartar, which was very good. to drink, we had water and a Munich Mule, which could be a little stronger in alcohol, but it was good.

It all exceeded my expectations! Just WOW!!! And so fast!

Great atmosphere and very tasty food.

We've been there four times now, and as always, the food is top-notch! No doubt about it. Unfortunately, the service has gotten significantly worse. First, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a menu. This was followed by another 10 minutes waiting for drinks. The waiter wanted to leave the table after each drink, even though not everyone had ordered yet. While the food was being brought, the waiters barely took the time to explain what the food was and which menu it belonged to (annoying when there are vegetarians at the table). The last dish then took another 40 minutes to arrive. Although the food is truly excellent, the poor service marred a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, not good for the prices the restaurant charges.

The first three courses in particular were phenomenal, and the decor is atmospheric and beautiful... unfortunately, the food and the surroundings aren't everything at this price point. The welcome was perfectly fine. The service was attentive at first. The food then came incredibly quickly, one after the other, and the offered break before the main course was completely forgotten. About an hour after we arrived, when we had just finished eating and had actually ordered two more cocktails, we were rudely asked if we could sit somewhere else. We hadn't even had a chance to say yes (or no) before our drinks were taken and placed at a small table in the entrance area, which was far too bright, cooled down by the air conditioning, and drafty. Theoretically, it wouldn't have been so bad to sit somewhere else. But we would have liked to have had a choice. For a €150 dinner, that's a no-go for me! We've rarely felt so unwelcome. What made our impression even more pronounced was that my partner had left something at his table. 10 minutes after we were chased away, our table and the one next to it were still free...

This used to be the best spot for a Chinese lunch on the weekends but they completely changed the concept. You now can’t order a la cart anymore or come as a walk in. You have to make a reservation and eat a set menu which does not sound very good at all.

To the owner: we’ve been coming here for 4 years for lunch on the weekend. We arrived at 1pm to be told you have a new concept and we will not be seated because we were here too late. Incredibly stupid that you don’t have a way to accommodate people that arrive without knowing or your regulars that have supported you for years. Very disappointing. The new concept is not good, €50 for a stupid amount of food that nobody wants. There will be so much food wasted. Please reconsider allowing people to order of the normal lunch menu.

We trusted the maitre de salle, who guided us through the diversity of Cantonese cuisine and served dishes that, beyond the menu, presented a panopticon of authentic specialties. We didn't have a reservation and had to wait an hour for a table, but we received a very warm welcome and were given a nice table. The food was delicious. However, it should be noted that you have to like chili (Menu 2), which wasn't a problem for us.

Great! I'd be happy to go back anytime. There are only a few menus to choose from, but they're great! The duck was amazing and I've only had better service in London or Dubai. The service was very good, and they gave a great wine recommendation.

We were dining with a larger group, and when there was a problem with a main course, the succinct comment was simply that it was normal for not all dishes to arrive at the same time. I don't think a 45-minute delay is appropriate in a restaurant like this. The appetizers on our menu also arrived, not one after the other as usual, but almost all at the same time. This made it feel like you had to eat everything quickly to finish. Unreasonable for an upscale restaurant.

I made a reservation for six people for my birthday. As soon as I walked in, I was like, oh, it's my birthday. No congratulations, nothing. Then the cards were slammed on the table, questions weren't welcome. Ordering was chaotic. The food itself was good, but after the first two courses, there was a break of almost an hour. Then it continued uncoordinated. The waiter was personally insulted when he was asked to clear away the used cutlery and glasses. I've known the YA since it opened, and the completely unprofessional service ruined it! Won't bother the boss because the place was packed on a Monday! The price is exorbitant for this service. They only offer two-person menus, at least €45-50 per person. With drinks, etc., it easily comes to €60-70 per person; in our case, it was over €90. Huge disappointment, never again!

And below average mostly. Example: the sashimi (the one that came basically immediately) was served with lettuce leaves, peanuts, raw onions and without asking the service poured some soy/ponzu/sesame „dip“ over everything. A home-style restaurant in Munich. It's best to prepare at least €40 for each visitor if you want to eat your fill. Unfortunately, we brought less money this time. The dishes were good, but not amazing. You also have to be very patient while waiting for service. What I like is that they offer a presentation of the dishes.

Friends asked us to meet here for dinner. It was quite difficult to find, although directly located in the Leopoldstr. The restaurant is downstairs-with relatively low ceilings (a little claustrophobic in my view) but nicely decorated. There are different spaces with tables separated good enough to be able to have conversations without being eavesdropped by the next table. The food is set up in different menus with duck as the main dish. Overall it was tasty but some of the dishes were not great - WanTan was very oily and Brocoli brought alone as a dish in the menu was quite boring. The spinach was delicious and the duck also. The hummer 🦞 at the end was dry and difficult to chew. The wine list is good with local and international wines. I was glad to find a new restaurant in Schwabing, will not become my place to go every month, but definitely a restaurant to visit once or twice a year.

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant in Munich. I have come on multiple occasions with friends and/or family. The food is amazing. The staff extremely kind and attentive. And the ambiance is stunning. The Ya signature menu is my favorite, however I have never been disappointed by any of the dishes they serve.
