Xigon in Berlin

Disappointing despite a good start I went to Xigon 1987 last week with my girlfriend, and to be honest, it was a mixed bag. We hadn't made a reservation, but a super friendly waitress (No. 1) still gave us a table—so nice! The place is small but cozy, so thumbs up for that. She also took our order in a friendly manner. Then the food arrived—brought by a young waiter (No. 2) with zero energy. No "hello," no "enjoy your meal," just the tray put down and off again...even though I thanked them twice. Sorry, but that's just not how hospitality works. 🙄 The food looked nice and actually tasted good, but my dish was way too salty. The nice waitress (No. 1) took care of it immediately, but unfortunately, the taste remained the same. Then, when it came time to pay, the shock: Another waitress (number 3), who had never served us, automatically added a 10% tip to the card reader – and simply told me I could delete it myself if I wasn't okay with it. Sorry, but that's completely unacceptable. That kind of behavior is disrespectful to guests. Tipping should be voluntary, not psychological pressure. It's unfair to put people in an uncomfortable situation just because they're polite or too proud to say "no." 😤 And the restroom… honestly, it was totally unkempt: water everywhere, no toilet paper, an unpleasant smell – it didn't match the nice impression the front made at all. 😩 As if all that wasn't enough, we both had stomach problems later that evening. What a shame, with such a lovely waitress and a good start, it could have been a wonderful evening.

The food is good, but prices have increased significantly in recent years, and the service has steadily declined. There have also been incredibly rude experiences, such as a delivery taking two hours, and then, upon a second inquiry, being told to pick up the food myself and hanging up. Unacceptable!

Had lunch with a friend, the menu was so tasty! We both had a miso soup for starter and a yellow curry. The curry was SO good!! Creamy, filled with veggies and tofu / chicken, and mild spice. I’m not a spice person but it was absolutely delicious

I highly recommend this place... We popped in spontaneously, and they immediately opened a table for us. The service was friendly, but at times a bit haphazard. The food, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the beer was only available in bottles without glasses. This forced me to deduct a star. The value for money was excellent... Otherwise, this little restaurant is worth a visit. We were delighted and well-fed.

I was there today. The sushi was delicious, but nothing particularly special. However, despite repeating my order, the server brought a salmon inside-out sushi instead of arugula maki. (No one at my table ordered inside-out, so there was no risk of confusion.) Since I live sustainably and didn't want the sushi to be thrown away and me eating salmon, I didn't say anything. But when the server entered a 10% tip into the card reader when I was paying, combined with the question, "Everything was fine, right?", I wondered how much calculation was behind this. Especially now that I read the negative reviews, which the restaurant apparently often deletes without justification.

Extremely poor value for money. The sushi – lots of rice, hardly any fish or filling. Not recommended.

The food was way too sweet for us and the tempura sushi tasted burned or fried in old oil. I would not recommend this place.

I spontaneously went there to eat, there was a small free table with some things on it, I asked the waiter if the seat was free and he said he would clear it for you straight away and that I should wait, then I stood by the door and waited, after a few minutes someone else came in and simply sat down in the seat and then he also cleared the table. When I confronted the waiter he said he would make another seat free for me and his colleague blatantly lied to my face and said that the other person had supposedly reserved it even though there was no sign of communication when he sat down because he was also a single person like me, instead of asking if he was allowed to, and because of his audacity he got the seat and I left before I got too worked up about it.

Great taste of food and portions. Very friendly staff and good location. We will definitely come back.

Xigon – Asian Restaurant in Friedrichshain Xigon is a popular Asian restaurant in Friedrichshain, especially known for its lunch offerings. The food (what we could eat) was delicious, and the service was friendly—but one thing that should NEVER happen in a restaurant is endangering the health of guests! My boyfriend and I went out to eat, and we clearly stated twice that he was allergic to paprika. The waiter confirmed that none of the dishes contained paprika. Then the food arrived, and we started eating. After a few minutes, my boyfriend noticed that there were small red pieces in his dish. He immediately stopped eating, and I called the waitress to ask what they were. She replied, "It's chili." I tried to stay calm and reminded her that we had twice told her colleague who had taken the order that my boyfriend had a very dangerous allergy! The waitress's response was, "It's chili, not paprika!" YOU NEED TO TRAIN YOUR STAFF URGENTLY! If someone reports an allergy and there's anything unclear, you MUST ask for clarification—especially about something so obvious! Of course, someone who is allergic to bell peppers is also allergic to chili—chilli is a type of bell pepper! What happened is very serious, and if my friend develops health problems as a result (which we certainly hope doesn't happen), you will be held responsible. Also, how dare you charge guests for their meal despite such a mistake and then offer a tip option?! In general Nice food! We especially liked the warm rice noodle salad. The portions are big, the service is super nice and they prepare the food very quick. However the glass noodle salad and the summer rolls were mostly filled by salad and I had only 1 piece of tofu in my roll.

Just ordered food... (via Lieferando). For those who are super hungry... It was delivered much earlier than stated. Great!

One of the best sushi places. My husband and I always come back when we can. Only thing is sometimes the Nori is more fresh than other times, which you can feel when you bite into it. My favorite is the xigon tempura.

Expensive and after repeated questions about whether our dish was vegan, it was answered in the affirmative. When we got home, however, the dish was not vegan.

I am typically a little apprehensive about Pan-Asian restaurants however a friend recommended the sushi from this place so I thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the sushi sets that I ordered. It does not replace a proper Japanese sushi experience, however it is a great pick if you want some quick and cheap sushi—Really good value in my opinion! The ratio of filling to rice is great. The rice is well-seasoned and not mushy (which is unfortunately uncommon in most budget-friendly sushi spots in Berlin), the fish didn’t have an odd or too-fishy aroma, and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The pickled ginger garnish was also nice and not too pickled/soft. The amount of soy sauce provided was also good. I liked the M5 Set for One more than the Deluxe for One set, as I am personally not a huge fan of the fried sushi roll. I loved it so much I ordered from them again the evening after. I have since moved to a different neighbourhood and am sad that it does not deliver to my area. I would definitely recommend ordering from Xigon if you’re within their delivery radius!

Xigon Restaurant has a pleasant and traditional atmosphere. The food is very good. Unfortunately, they don’t offer many options for those allergic to garlic. I don’t recommend their coffee. It comes with a large amount of condensed milk and is brewed using a drip system that takes a long time. As a result, the coffee ends up cold. I couldn’t drink it because it was both too sweet and too cold. I don’t recommend it.

This policy of not including the starter when ordering to go is not logical and very annoying. Especially when you are a frequent customer.

Exclusive and stylish, gladly again

I has ordered sushi from Xigon through lieferando several times before, and it's definitely one of the best price for value sushi. You can tell the quality by the freshness of the fish. When I visited the restaurant, I tried their hotplate crispy duck, which does not disappoint either. The duck is juicy, accompanied by oyster based sauce and a generous amount of vegetable.

In my opinion, the portions are getting smaller and the prices have risen. I used to enjoy eating or ordering here because both the quality and the price/performance ratio were right. But that has now changed completely, which is a shame. I now prefer other alternatives Addendum: Food poisoning after ordering again! I will notify the responsible health authority

Shortly before leaving: the restaurant is relatively small inside: reservations are recommended. We were lucky even without one, but every seat was taken. The service was very nice and attentive. The food came really quickly and tasted really good. Overall the prices are okay too. We'll definitely be back.

Cozy place with delicious food A bit expensive

A great, small Asian restaurant where they mainly serve Japanese, traditional dishes such as sushi etc. All of the dishes (we had a total of 8 different ones with 5 guests) were a real highlight in terms of taste and appearance. Prices were excellent considering the quality. The damper was the toilet (be careful, lock the second outside door and lock the sliding door!) as well as the constant draft when guests went in or out. The rest was great!

Great! If you like high-quality sushi, you will find it here. I ordered a plate of two home - even the simple avocado maki was absolutely convincing.

I visited Xigon with a friend on a Friday night for dinner and had an overall pleasant experience. The server was friendly, welcoming, and very informative, which added to the evening’s charm. One highlight was the kitchen’s willingness to accommodate a special menu request, making a Bun Cha Gio Chay, a vegetarian dish commonly found elsewhere but not listed here. I really appreciated this level of flexibility. The dish itself was tasty, with fresh ingredients and well-cooked elements, but it leaned too sweet for my palate. A touch more acidity—perhaps from lime or vinegar—would have balanced the flavors beautifully. The atmosphere of Xigon was lively and enjoyable, making it a great spot for a casual night out. While my dish wasn’t perfect, I’d still recommend Xigon for its attentive service and willingness to go above and beyond. It’s clear they value their customers, and I’d happily return to explore other dishes on the menu!

Bun Nam Bo and sushi are super delicious!!

I reserved a table there with my girlfriend; it is assumed that the restaurant will be open that day. We were then there and the restaurant was closed.

🤢The restaurant leaves its garbage cans at the entrance. As a customer, I have to walk through smelly garbage to get to the door of the restaurant. That's disgusting. Sometimes the trash stays on the sidewalk for days. If that's the standard for entryway cleanliness, I don't want to eat what comes out of the kitchen. No thanks! 😱

A small but super nice and cozy restaurant in the middle of the inconspicuous edge We definitely recommend the Yuzu Dragon and the sushi platters, but every other dish also tastes amazing❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥💜🩵🫶🫶 The restaurant is best reached on foot as it is on a side street... There is currently a construction site nearby which makes parking difficult, but even without it it is always difficult. That's why it's better to take the tram or S and U train there :)

Just ordered via Lieferando. 1. the food was cold. 2. I ordered 3x mango salad for the ladies for €6.90 each. For the price, we would have expected it to be adequately filling. End result: 1/4 unripe hard mango with 3/4 leaf lettuce. No tofu or chicken, no peanuts, no bean sprouts, no carrots. Just boring. And I could have made the salad better for €1.50. 3. the coconut soup tasted as if someone had poured a can of coconut milk over raw, unseasoned vegetables and then warmed them up. And tomato in a Thai soup? Doesn't fit and I've never heard it like that before. The tofu was delicious. 4. fried flat rice noodles, consisted of 80% flat rice noodles, the rest was fried onions and maybe 1% vegetables. Again, completely unseasoned, I only tasted fried onions. The duck was very dry. All in all, very loveless and for €37. Unfortunately we were very dissatisfied, I would like to join in with the positive comments here.

Food very tasty, service nice, we come regularly. The only thing I find unpleasant is that the card reader has a preset tip of 15%. In addition, the door is constantly open, which is cold in winter.

Oh, the udon noodles with tofu are a delight, especially in this cold, wet weather. Good sushi, beautifully served, the eye can also eat. Very pleasant atmosphere, small and cozy. You can make it on site or have the pho delivered to your home.

The food is good, but you often experience unfriendly and overwhelmed employees on site. Unfortunately, the delivery service is increasingly taking a long time - 1.5 hours is normal. Unfortunately, this is communicated differently in advance in various apps. In addition, the suppliers become unfriendly and sometimes cheeky and tell you to come down (from the 3rd floor). Too bad!

Everything is delicious here. The sushi, the salads, the hot dishes. We had a peanut sauce dish that was exquisite. The atmosphere is also super cozy and elegant. Always a reliable choice when looking for Asian fusion and sushi 😍

Unfortunately, I cannot agree with the majority here. Soup was just lukewarm and more broth than anything else, just like the waitress who didn't even crack a smile. After the sushi that followed, we all had stomach aches. The toilet also showed how careful they are about hygiene. No recommendation.

Friendly, competent service, a certain Asian charm

We were guests at Xigon with several people. Personally, I enjoyed the meal with tofu, peanut sauce and vegetables. I would have liked a little more vegetables and less sauce. The prices are rather higher. The staff was perhaps a little too attentive. Being constantly stared at makes me feel uncomfortable. Some people might find the sign with the vegan slogan funny; if I had been here alone, it would have been a reason not to enter the restaurant in the first place. Overall, there was no wow effect.

Very tasty food (both sushi and Vietnamese dishes)

The restaurant is small but nice. If you like to eat casually, without a lot of fancy, this is the place for you. The service is relatively polite and the food preparation is quick. Unfortunately only four out of five stars because it seems a bit cramped when there are several people in there at once and you can feel the rush when a lot is ordered. Especially delivery…

Anyone who writes such nonsense on their board can stay away from me. I'm a carnivore, but mushrooms are great!

Went there to eat, we had 2 soups and 3 small scampi size 4 cm each, without a side dish for the scampi, which cost 11 euros!!! Drinks 2 beers and a small soft drink total cost 40 euros. !!!! Once and never again. It was cold in the restaurant because the front door was always open. If you want a cold and want small portions at unheard of prices, this is the place for you. I can't understand the good reviews, but you can buy everything on the internet.!!!

Small Asian restaurant, but not exactly cheap and with small portions. Quite nice and cozy in and of itself. But if you sit at the tables near the entrance in colder temperatures, you should dress warmly or risk a cold in the following days. The outside door does not have an automatic locking mechanism, so almost everyone who comes in unintentionally leaves the door open. The curtain in front of the door doesn't really help to block the cold.

Very disappointing! After we enjoyed ordering here very often for a long time, as the food was always very good, we will avoid ordering from this restaurant again. What you can still ignore is that I had to wait a whole 2 hours for delivery on October 1st, 2024 (Tuesday). Without any mention or apology from the driver... Yesterday (October 12th, 2024) around 6 p.m. we placed another order (#8178). Of course, we know that there may be longer delivery times on Saturday evenings. But when there was no delivery after almost 3 hours, we tried again and again to reach someone there by phone. In vain. I also didn't receive a reply to my email. In the end there was no delivery at all the entire evening! The order must have been “sloppily messed up”? We'll probably never know...

Xigon exceeded our expectations. We had the beef carpaccio, one of the fried rolls, golden sake noodles and the peanut curry and all were so delicious! Will be back next time I’m in Berlin.

I have always been a loyal customer of this restaurant, but unfortunately my last visit was very disappointing. Either there was a change of ownership or major changes in the kitchen. Men is definitely noticing strong cost savings in all corners. The food is no longer as good and the service is below average and unfortunately I won't be coming here again.

More appearance than reality! The entire kitchen staff was at the front, right next to the guests, sitting on the floor and smoking (Picture 1). Sort of like in Vietnam... only here we are in Germany where hygiene should still be important. As you can see in the picture, the kitchen helpers wear gloves when smoking, and then go back into the kitchen and prepare the sushi. No thanks. In addition, the card was completely dirty... also easy to see in picture 2. No thanks... if you don't want to get food poisoning, you should avoid the restaurant!

The world's worst restaurant for home delivery It's 23:440 and I've been waiting for more than an hour and a half for my order. I go down to pick up the delivery man in a very well known spot, my street is central, one of the most central streets in Berlin. You can't get lost with a map or compass and it's 2 kilometres from the restaurant. The worst service of my life

Best cost benefit for this kind of cuisine

We had promised more from this restaurant. My wakame was still half frozen when served. The rest of the dishes were good. The ambience (we sat outside) had seen better days. The waitress couldn't even bring herself to smile slightly when serving (it seemed to me that everything was too much for her) and she couldn't handle criticism at all. All in all, unfortunately I can't really recommend the Xigon.

Really delicious food and has been renovated and attractively designed over the years! There is plenty of seating inside and outside - beautifully located on Petersburger Platz. The service is always on point and friendly. The starters are particularly delicious!

Very rich. Tasty dishes. My girlfriend commented that it is the best sushi she has had in years. My dish was very tasty (red curry chicken). We went very early for lunch so there was no one else there, everything went pretty quickly. Prices according to Berlin.

Xigon was our favorite restaurant for a long time. Unfortunately, the quality, portion size and price have not been consistent for some time now. Especially with the curries! Portions are getting smaller and prices are getting higher. Unfortunately, it can no longer compete with restaurants in the same segment. Too bad.

I'm just shocked at such poor service. The waitress was very rude from the start, and her expression clearly said, "Why are you even here?" When I asked to leave out an ingredient in my dish, she became rude and clearly didn't pass the instruction on to the chef. I have a severe allergy to this ingredient and it could have cost me my life. Luckily, I immediately noticed that she ignored my request and didn't touch the food. I think this is very negligent treatment of customers. It's clear that this restaurant doesn't value its guests - the tables are dirty and sticky, the service is terrible, and the food isn't particularly good either. To top it all off, she tried to take my plate away before I finished eating and ended up expecting a tip too... She really didn't deserve that. Never set foot in this restaurant again!!!!

A nice, small restaurant with a terrace. The food was very tasty! We particularly enjoyed the Pho and reminded us of our trips to Vietnam. The price was cheap despite the fantastic taste. An absolute recommendation!
