The food was to die for, the service was excellent. Any intolerances were taken into account and we had a wonderful evening. The atmosphere is very attractive and lovingly designed. Reservation is recommended. The prices are a bit high, but absolutely reasonable.

We went there on Friday on the recommendation of a friend. Unfortunately a complete disappointment. 1.5 hour wait for food. Food was cold and didn't taste good. Completely overwhelmed waiter who was solely responsible for the entire restaurant. Never again.

Wow! I've never eaten anywhere where I really enjoyed everything. Starter mix, the spinach and pomegranate spritzer (recommended by the boss) were super tasty. The seasoning of the dishes was on point and at the same time outstanding compared to everything I have ever eaten from Syrian-Arab cuisine (and that was delicious)! The charming and romantic ambience combined with the lovely and atmospheric music enhanced the impressions, truly a great restaurant! You can have a great time here, even during long opening hours. The owner is always available for advice and open to requests. Vegans don't miss out either!! We were there early at lunchtime and can only imagine that an even cozier atmosphere could be created in the evening hours with the floor lamps and chandeliers. It's hard to imagine... But we'll try it out soon!

An insider tip on the Fuhle in Barmbek! We were really excited about the facility and the service in the Wüstenrose! It seemed very rustic and familiar and you immediately felt at home The food was also amazing - a mix of mezza first and a main course afterwards. Absolutely recommended!

We came across this restaurant spontaneously and luckily got a table for two people. The vegetarian mezza were outstanding and neither of us have had such good falafels before. Really recommended! The main courses are also very diverse and delicious, so there is something for all tastes.

The name Desert rose is fitting. Especially Syrian fine dining. I travel a lot and because of that I try to eat at new locations every time I’m visiting Hamburg. This was by far the best food experience I had. I never thought I would fall in love with Syrian cuisine but then again the Arabic cuisine is an explosion of flavour. I had the mixed grill platter for one person. Had I known the taste of the food I would have ordered the platter for two. The meat was properly marinated and the salad was fresh. You could taste the freshness in every bite. Rice was also perfectly cooked and garnished. The muhammara bread (I hope I described it correctly) was toasted which added more flavour. The owner is also the head chef which you can taste once you put in your first mouthful. They have a huge section for vegetarian and also for meat lovers. Highly recommended, especially on days when it's not too complete. Here it tastes great nd fresh house-made spices, much better than in ordinary restaurants. There are very special dishes and a lot to choose from, and I was greeted and looked after in a very friendly manner. YOU'LL LOVE TO COME BACK!

This restaurant is a real insider tip in Barmbek-Nord. Wüstenrose serves dishes from Syria. The map is very extensive. I was pleased with the wide variety of vegetarian dishes. Alcohol is not served at all. There is a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks. I can particularly recommend the pomegranate spritzer. The interior of the store is very cozy. The team is very friendly. The price level is higher than expected. All major credit cards (including AMEX) are accepted when paying.

The food was very good, the owner and head chef made good recommendations. He offered us a mezze starter with 8 bowls, we chose 12 and enjoyed the small dishes. Afterwards there was a main course. For me the minced bulgur balls in yogurt sauce and my companion had the salmon with lime sauce, both of which tasted great! My top favorites of the evening were the falafel balls for the starter (the best I've had so far) and the great rice for my main course, which I could have served on its own - a super well-rounded mixture of spices made it so special for me. The ambience was OK, but I had the feeling of eating at grandma's (which isn't meant negatively, but I would have expected a little more "desert rose"!)

Actually, they're trying to be a slightly better place. The dishes are funny and appealing. The table by the window is charming. But The upholstery has worn out. Unfortunately, the music on a continuous loop is just the same. It smelled like a deep fryer and our clothes still smelled like it did two days later. The bread went like this. The creme brulee had quite a bit of flavor and caramel. The matzah (12 bowls) were varied and successful, some were still a little too cold. It's worth a second try, unfortunately not good the first time.

What a great restaurant, here the owner not only serves you but also cooks for you. We made our reservation by phone. Eight of us had different dishes placed in the middle of the table so everyone could try everything. First there was a pomegranate spritzer. Couscous with raisins, tomatoes and almonds, mushroom pan, scamis, beef meatballs, lamb in pomegranate sauce, bread, homemade falafel (super juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside) The food was fresh and very tasty. Since there was a lot left over, we simply packed it up and took it with us. We can highly recommend this restaurant. Small, cozy and familiar. Thank you

Our visit to Wüstenrose started very positively, the waiter welcomed us and recommended the mezze platter. First of all: The mezze were very tasty! But now the big negative point: The service didn't work AT ALL (on a Tuesday!). As soon as the store became full, it was completely overwhelmed. We were ignored by the waiter for 1.5 hours even though we wanted to order the main course. The tables next to us seemed to feel the same way. Even after speaking to the waiter at the counter, who promised to come to the table, nothing happened. We continued to remain unnoticed. We left the restaurant disappointed after our starters. There was no apology or at least the acceptance of our two drinks. There was a complete lack of insight. Unbelievable, we were at a loss for words! The food is recommended, but unfortunately we couldn't enjoy it or recommend it given this poor service. Too bad!

Went there as a couple for an anniversary dinner. Jubilar is a vegetarian and so I looked for a suitable restaurant near City Nord and came across Wüsten Rose. We ordered the vegetarian matzah with 8 bowls and each had two large matzahs ​​as the main course. Drunk with pomegranate spritzer. There is no alcohol there, but I don't see that as a problem (although a good wine is certainly part of it for many people). When ordering, the host (owner, chef and waiter all in one, very personable and authentic) gave us advice, so we didn't order directly from the menu. His selection was really first class. Every single component tasted really delicious. By far the best falafel (available with the starter) that I have ever eaten. In the last few weeks I have been to several restaurants in HH, including higher-priced ones. But the Wüsten Rose is my highlight in 2024. We have rarely felt so welcome and I will definitely go there more often. The price for the two of us together was €65, a bargain for what was on offer.

The card reader didn't work due to internet problems and without any problems I was immediately offered the option to just come in and pay the next day. We will come here more often! (Incidentally, my companion was vegetarian and cannot eat gluten. Despite both aspects, there was a huge selection on the menu)

The chef and owner is super warm and brings the best cooking skills and experience from Syria and various cuisines around the world. Prices are reasonable for the taste!! Definitely worth a visit!
