A huge disappointment. A restaurant with excellent reviews and excellent social media presence turns out to be a disaster. Perhaps because people are encouraged to leave reviews in exchange for a free drink? I'll come back to that in a moment. We asked for a table without a reservation. The waitress, with a offended expression, informed us that it was fine, but we could only be there until 5 p.m. We agreed because we had an hour for our meal, and that would be perfectly sufficient. We were thrilled to be eating at such a recommended restaurant. A moment later, the waitress arrived, and we were already about to know what we wanted to drink, not knowing what we were going to eat. For example, choosing wine for a dish isn't accidental, and I should have had time to choose. We felt rushed, and the waitress looked at us as if we should leave the restaurant, and unfortunately, her tone of voice echoed that. We ordered deer goulash. I've never had such a sweet goulash. The entire flavor of the meat, the entire flavorful quality of deer meat, was completely lost. There was apple, which could have provided sweetness, but flavors should balance each other, and above all, the deer is the main character, but unfortunately, it disappeared, even though I tasted every piece of meat to feel if the deer was truly deer and if it was fresh. As for the additions, fat and sugar are still intertwined... Even when I added salt and pepper (by the way, your pepper mill is broken because whole peppercorns fall out and you can't grind it, which I found out later when I bit into it and broke a piece of my tooth), I decided I wouldn't eat it. My husband ate it because he felt sorry for the money he earned to leave it, which is understandable. I returned my meal. I decided to try something I love: carpaccio, which was on the board. The disappointment was even greater. I received stale meat that was gray and green, and you could taste it rotting in your mouth. I have a photo. I left it and asked for it to be taken away, and a moment later, what happened? The carpaccio disappeared from the recommended dishes. This raised concerns, and we were even more certain that the meat served was stale, raw, because carpaccio is raw meat, so it can make you sick. So we asked what was going on and were told that (I'll assume it was the owner or some important person in the restaurant) he had tried it and that it was okay for him, but it was the last portion. Conclusion? We received very stale and starting to spoil meat (leftovers). We'll go back to the deer, which was completely tasteless because it was so sweet. Was it just not fresh enough to be drowned in sweetness? We'll never know. The waitress's behavior, which was very offended, suggested we tell her, "You ate everything, so why are we complaining? If it didn't taste good, we wouldn't have eaten it." And that's where she was wrong, because 90% of my food was returned. Because to try something, you had to touch it. She nervously took the terminal from my husband, who was already entering his PIN to pay, and went to the kitchen to get the aforementioned gentleman, who deducted the carpaccio from our bill, insisting that the carpaccio was okay, but there was leftovers... It's better to say something's missing than to serve leftovers. Thank you for at least not having to pay for the carpaccio. The waitress should learn from the young, dark-haired waiter, who was very nice and smiled even though he wasn't serving us. Let's go back to the note on the table, offering us a free drink for adding a review. Well, here's an example of buying an opinion... Because normally, something like this is offered without haggling with the customer. The opinion is free. Only a self-respecting restaurant offers this because it's hospitable, likes people, and doesn't turn them away 😉, which could be observed at the next table, what you tell your guests. We weren't offered anything 🍸 before we said something was wrong, and obviously people won't write a bad review for free. The nice decor is a plus. This is my longest review, because based on what you show on Facebook and the reviews, I expected to be delighted. Will I come back? No. Too bad.

The Käsespätzle were very tasty, but unfortunately the portion was too small. The restrooms were very nice.

We stopped at the Guglhupf Inn today while passing through and were absolutely thrilled. The food selection is fantastic, the daily specials change, and the service was truly top-notch! We ate here with several people on October 24, 2025. The service was good, and the food was delivered quickly. I had a Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes, which was plentiful and tasty. The atmosphere is cozy.

Four of us went to the Gugelhupf Inn for dinner. The food (1 goat cheese starter, 1 schnitzel with cooked cheese, 1 shepherd's-style tagliatelle, 1 wild boar aspic, 1 Brizza vegetable garden) was truly delicious. The portions are generous, and the prices are right. Even the apple wine is worth a mention, as it's very tasty. I don't know if I've ever had one as good as this... the well-known "big" names could learn a thing or two from it! With the fantastic menu, which promises several more delicacies, we will definitely be back. One thing that should not be forgotten: the service was very attentive, friendly, and courteous. The dining room was cozy and immaculately maintained. Recommendation? Yes – absolutely and without reservation! Update October 13, 2025: We (we live in the Westerwald region) have been here four or five times now and have never regretted it. This time too: excellent food, excellent service (prompt and very friendly); If you have problems with an intolerance, for example, they'll quickly find a solution. Definitely not the last time! 👌

We happened upon this place while passing through. We were not disappointed. The staff welcomed and served us warmly. Hearty food at fair prices. It was busy at lunchtime, but there weren't long waits.

Simply fantastic, everything is just right. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, and super delicious food. The salads are among the best. Absolutely reasonable prices. Highly recommended. A changing daily menu. In summer, it's a wonderful place to sit outside. At Christmas time, you should definitely try the goose.

Also nice...everything seems professional and there aren't long waits. The only small, and at the same time odd, drawback is that dogs aren't allowed in any of the dining areas. This was our fourth time there, so this isn't a hasty review. We'll be back.

It was so busy that the waitress initially didn't want to let us in, as the kitchen was extremely busy. They finally let us in, but warned us that we'd have to wait a long time for our food. But that wasn't the case at all. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent.

Beautiful restaurant, both inside and outside. Service was excellent, and the food arrived at the same time for a group of seven. Unfortunately, my Wiener schnitzel was completely dry, and the fried potatoes were lacking salt.

The menu, which we found online beforehand, offered a wide variety of options and seemed so tempting that we decided to visit. We spent a pleasant evening there in a pleasant atmosphere, with delicious food and drinks and very friendly service. We found the value for money to be reasonable and would gladly return. Highly recommended!

It was our first time there, and we were really looking forward to it. The food was excellent. However, the overall impression was so severely marred by the rude and unmistakable dialogue between the waiters that we just wanted to leave quickly after dinner. Furthermore, in the late evening, the outside area was being "tidyed up" very noisily, which was like an indirect order to finally leave the restaurant. The owner should urgently work on this.

The location is truly top-notch, the ambiance is fine, and the menu offers a wide selection – the many vegetarian and vegan dishes are particularly noteworthy. For that, it gets three stars. Unfortunately, the rest of the menu leaves a lot to be desired: The service was unfriendly and disinterested, the spare ribs were dry, the salad was already beginning to dry out, and the appetizer only arrived upon request – after the main course. Therefore, only one star each for service and food. All in all, okay, but there's plenty of room for improvement.

Unfortunately, Google quickly deletes negative, honest reviews under the label of "slander and defamation." This means that nothing is rated honestly on Google anymore. I've experienced this twice. I've been accused of defamation, just for posting honest, factual reports. It's a shame, because then you can no longer rely on Google reviews. And the bad apples continue to work with all the stars!

Good menu. Food was good and looked good from the others. A lot of the "vegetarian food" had parm on it (which contains rennet, and as such, is not vegetarian). Nice atmosphere overall!

Very friendly service, very good food. We had an onion schnitzel with fries and a creamy mushroom schnitzel with fries. A side salad is available for an extra charge. There's a lovely outdoor seating area as well as inside. Pets are welcome outside. Parking is available directly in front of the restaurant in a gravel parking lot.

The food is delicious, with a good selection. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are also available on the menu. The food arrives quickly. The playground is a nice distraction for the kids while waiting for their food. A few minor things, in our opinion, lack the five stars: - The street is noisy. - Despite a reservation, the table is not properly set. - There is Julius Meinl coffee, but it's served in a fully automatic machine. - A high chair is available. However, you have to ask for cutlery for children, and they provide a cake fork.

A menu full of regional specialties. I found the Brizza - pizza on pretzel dough - very tasty and crispy. Everyone in the birthday party quickly found something to suit their personal taste. A day ticket is also offered. It was pleasant to sit outside in the shade. The service was also great.

You don't need a reservation here. Although they said there were still plenty of unreserved tables available, we were asked to come back in 30 minutes due to limited kitchen capacity. Instead of offering us a free table, we were sent away.

The Guglhupf Inn saved my life. Just a little joke... I went there the day before yesterday for a drink, as I was hiking from Frankfurt to Darmstadt. Irresponsible in this weather, I know. The inn is located on the country road towards Darmstadt; this was my last proper stop. The terrace is inviting, and the Grohe Helle beer is delicious! Since I unfortunately didn't eat anything myself, I'm using all the positive feedback from the neighboring tables as a rating for the food in my review! It seems very tasty. ;)

We spontaneously stopped by for lunch one weekday and were amazed at how busy the place was. Very friendly service, the food was beautifully presented, and delicious, too! Highly recommended. 😋 There's free parking on-site, a large outdoor area/beer garden, and even the restrooms are worth a visit: There are old photos on the walls showing what the place used to look like 🤩

The food is truly excellent, and the ambiance is also inviting for pleasant seating. The price for 10 people was around €36 per person (including drinks, starters, and main course) – so it's not a bargain, but within reason when the quality and service are right. What bothers me, however, is that this is the second time that a table reservation hasn't been honored as agreed. First time: The table wasn't pushed together or set, and despite mentioning it was a birthday, no festive decorations were made. We were also seated in the blazing sun, even though I had explicitly stated that we were coming with older people. Second time: Again, the table wasn't prepared; the organization seemed very last-minute. This time, too, we had to wait until the table was put together or a suitable seat was found. While it was a bit emptier on this Monday, we were still seated right next to the restrooms, even though we had requested a quieter corner (because of a baby). These organizational weaknesses tarnish the otherwise good impression. If the food weren't so good and the restaurant wasn't inherently special, the rating would be significantly lower. Pros: Parking is available, and the outdoor seating is really nice. Reservations are still recommended, though hopefully they will be better implemented in the future.

We visited Guglhupf for lunch today. The beef liver and Frankfurter schnitzel were very flavorful, tender, and delicious. The prices are reasonable. The staff were pleasant and friendly. We'd be happy to come back.

We like to be inspired by reviews, but then we also want to try it ourselves. On the A6 heading home, we discovered this nice restaurant. It was delicious and we were full. Unfortunately, there was no room left for the Kaiserschmarren 😊

My first visit to the Gugelhupf restaurant in Egelsbach was unfortunately disappointing – and not because of the food (which we didn't even get to try), but because of the reception and the lack of service. Although the restaurant was almost empty – both inside and outside – we were denied any seating request, with the comment that other guests would be expected in over an hour. What was particularly irritating: Instead of a strenuous attempt at a solution, we received only a series of statements about what was not possible. No "We'll see what we can do," no suggestion for a compromise – instead, only rejection and a rigid adherence to internal procedures that were incomprehensible to guests. Hospitality is often demonstrated by flexibility towards spontaneous visitors – especially when capacity is clearly available. It's a shame, because as a new guest, I would have liked to have made a positive first impression. So, unfortunately, the only conclusion is: My first visit will also be my last.

Correct: NONE "The restaurant initially experienced a positive development over the past few years. However, it seems to have reached its peak now; the food is edible, but the staff has become unfriendly and arrogant. Without a reservation, you'll be looked at like you're from the moon. They don't (anymore) thank you for tips, and the service is rude and unpleasant, so unfortunately, you can't feel comfortable there anymore. There are better and friendlier alternatives in the area."

Wow, the food is truly first-class, the concept is great, and children under 7 eat free when accompanied by at least one parent. Where else can you find something like that? Absolutely recommend it!

Went out to dinner last night with three people. Service was very fast. The food included a side salad, sirloin with champignon sauce and fried potatoes, and a spinach dumpling. The salad was pretty good, but there was too much vinegar. It was a bit dry on top and too wet on the bottom. Dessert was grandma's cheesecake with pineapple and melon. Strange but good. I'd go back.

The green sauce was also homemade and very tasty. We were very satisfied. Parking is available right in front of the door. Small note: please close the door to the restrooms. It's unbearable how some men come out of the restroom and then zip up their pants at the sink, practically right at our table.

When you drive into the parking lot, you can see the cozy beer garden, especially recommended in summer, with lots of greenery and umbrellas providing shade. First of all, I'm deducting one star because the timing was unfortunately off. While my wife had a delicious and hot zander, my gourmet fillet was simply delicious. All of us are over 60, and it didn't bother us at all to be addressed informally. It's easy to address them informally back. I can only recommend it: The beer garden is very cozy, both inside and out. Everything is very clean and well-maintained. The menu has everything your heart desires. Very tasty food. I had mashed potatoes for the first time instead of mashed potatoes, and it was great 😋. The waiters are very friendly and attentive. We'd be happy to come back. PS: The restrooms with the green towels are a brilliant idea. It's a great way to do something for the environment and avoid paper waste. 👌

We had dinner at Gugelhupf on Saturday evening at 18³⁰, probably for the fourth time. The food was, as always, very tasty. Unfortunately, the noise was more like in a "drinking hall" than in a restaurant. At the neighboring table, a group of about 15 people were shouting loudly without paying any attention to the rest of the guests. We fled after our main course (as did the people from the neighboring table, by the way). It's a shame that the innkeeper doesn't seem to care about this matter was....You can be a little louder when eating, but that was definitely no longer bearable... What a shame
