Amazing place with good service and really good food, we tired the recommended dish for sunday (white Munich type sausages) and the accompanying sweet mustard was really on point. Also the complimentary pretzels were freshly baked and delicious.

Sehr empfehlenswertes Wirtshaus mit sehr leckeren Frankfurter Spezialitäten und perfektem Service in der Neuen Altstadt. Ich hatte das Vergnügen, in diesem wunderbaren Restaurant zu speisen, und ich muss sagen, es war ein hervorragendes Erlebnis. Seit unserem ersten Besuch sind wir regelmäßig hier, und auch Familienfeiern haben wir bereits dort gefeiert. Wir können uns immer auf dieses Restaurant verlassen, ohne enttäuscht zu sein. Das Essen war einfach exzellent – frisch zubereitet, geschmacklich perfekt abgestimmt und schön präsentiert. Als Vorspeise habe ich den Räucherlachs auf Kartoffelrösti genossen, der hervorragend war. Als Hauptgang wählte ich das Frankfurter Schnitzel, das ebenfalls ausgezeichnet schmeckte. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich die Käseplatte, die wir nach dem Abendessen genossen haben. Sie war ein wahres Highlight und hat den Abend perfekt abgerundet. Nicht nur das Essen war großartig, sondern auch die Liebe zum Detail war bemerkenswert. Der Service war erstklassig. Das Personal war äußerst freundlich, aufmerksam und professionell. Sie haben sich hervorragend um uns gekümmert und uns das Gefühl gegeben, willkommen und geschätzt zu sein. Insgesamt war es ein wunderbarer Abend, und ich werde dieses Restaurant definitiv weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank für das großartige Erlebnis!

Absolutely perfect. I really recommended. Avaliable space for diner around 6pm. Very short waiting time. 2 mins for beer, 15 mins for food. Excellent service. Food perfect, beer too.

We came across this restaurant by chance on Monday - luckily!! We had a table outside in the evening sun, we had top service, I ate one of my best Viennese schnitzels, my wife had top asparagus with a very tasty green sauce, followed by avocados with lemon vinaigrette, the bread that was served beforehand was amazing (that Oil and salt as well) and my "small but nice" piece of apple strudel with a dream vanilla sauce was a poem at the end. The price was high - yes, that's true, but the food and the ambience (including inside) were definitely worth it. We cannot understand some of the bad reviews in any way. We'd love to come back

The restaurant is located on one corner of the historic Hühnermarket. Service personell was quick and polite. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with wooden walls. It’s nice to go there But Im sorry. These prices are way too high. Frankfurt green sauce with boiled eggs e.g. are 22,90 EUR. I don’t want to buy the whole chicken. This is way probably most of the guests drinks something or have a coffee. Only few had actually food on there table.

Food is great, service is okay, it could be a little faster and the ambience is also okay, in the middle of the old town of Frankfurt it is also very chic, but the tourists are annoying. Of course it's not the restaurant's fault, but it's important to mention.

Haben an einem warmen Maiabend draussen gesessen. Lage und Umgebung sehr schön, nahe am Dom. Das Essen ist allerdings durchschnittlich aber dafür sehr teuer. Die Bratkartoffeln beim Frankfurter Schnitzel pappig und lauwarm, dafür über 30,- Euro ist nicht in Ordnung. Die angegebene Preisspanne stimmt nicht. Die Bedienung ist ein wenig lustlos. Nicht sehr empfehlenswert, ausser man möchte unbedingt die schöne Lage genießen.

Un lindo restaurante con atención amable y en un precioso lugar . Lejos del bullicio de los turistas ideal para comer un plato típico. Comimos espárragos de la época, deliciosos! Con un buen vino y para terminar un delicioso Apfelstrudel! Sin duda volveré!

A portion of Handkäs with music €9.80 and you actually only get a single small Handkäs. The double portion, i.e. two hand cheeses as usual in Frankfurt, costs €19.60. And yes, the bread that comes with it is also charged extra at €3.90...which makes a total of €23.50.....and the hand cheese isn't even pickled, it's just put on top of vinegar/oil and onions When it came out of the package... there's only one question that comes to mind: Is it still okay?

Excellent service, excellent regional cuisine at a reasonable price.

Location at the Hühnermarkt very nice, great atmosphere (both outside and inside). Food excellent (we had the Frankfurter Schnitzel). Finally a very tasty green sauce (probably homemade, not from the large ready-made meal bin like in the other restaurants around the Römer). And finally an Ebbelwoi that tastes really good (up to now I've only drunk cheap tourist booze). Service very good: friendly, considerate, courteous, professional). Conclusion: expensive, but worth it. Price-performance fits. Recommended! We've had restaurants around the Römer before, all disappointing. This inn has restored the honor of Frankfurt :-)

Staff are very rude. The food is not bad, and the area is very central.

Wir waren als Frankfurter zum ersten Mal hier. Es war leider total enttäuschend. Die kleine Speisekarte hatte sehr wenig zu absolut hohen Preisen anzubieten. Meine Frau hatte eine Bratwurst und ich ein Frankfurter Tafelspitz. Das war sehr schlecht mit einer wässrigen Brühe, wo man die Grüne Soße nicht vermischen konnten. Wir werden nicht wieder hingehen. Preis/Leistungsverhältnis total schlecht und nicht frankfurterisch.

Turned away by unfriendly staff for wanting to have a drink at one of their empty tables. They only allow you in if you’re ordering dinner. If they were kinder about it, I wouldn’t have left a review 🤷‍♂️ would have understood.

We had a super friendly server and excellent meal.. class A asparagus with local green sauce and a small veal Wiener Schnitzel. Good Riesling and digestive.. alles in ordnung 👌

The ambience and location is very nice. The fried potatoes and the green sauce were very tasty. Unfortunately that was it again. The restaurant is not barrier-free; toilets can only be reached via a long, steep basement staircase. The portions were very small - we ate bratwurst with fries straight after at a snack bar - with 2 x green sauce with fried potatoes and 2 drinks we left with 61.50 euros. The staff can only do "standard". We decided to sit outside when the sun was shining, but quickly realized that it was still too cold to sit. Our request to move indoors was categorically rejected. Although the food had not yet been served and only two tables were occupied inside. So for 61.50 euros we left the restaurant hungry and cold after almost 30 minutes. Unfortunately only recommended for exclusive use and without special requests.

My fifth visit here with changing guests also impressed everyone. I was a guest at lunchtime and in the evening, with and without a reservation. At peak times and quieter times, outside and inside. All the dishes were excellent (Frankfurter Schnitzel, currywurst, salad, asparagus soup, green sauce...) but I would particularly like to mention the seasonal asparagus. It was cooked to perfection yesterday on branded dishes. The staff has always been service-oriented, courteous, very attentive, unobtrusive and quick. Best manners (clear unused place settings, serve from the right, do not take an order while the menu is open, offer advice and knowledge about the food, drinks when the glasses are empty and mention corresponding drinks, etc.). The atmosphere is also nice and the restaurant is very well equipped. I always like to come back here. My parking garage recommendation is the Römer/Dom parking garage.

For a group meal, we ordered special sausages and veal frankfurter steaks. They both tasted pretty good, 4.6 points. The location was a little crowded, but that’s understandable in a city center. The food was good, but very shady practices especially if you’re tourist. the receipt printer is not working, so the server tells you a price and waves the machine in front of you but it’s impossible to really see what’s going on because of how he’s holding it. Somehow my lunch for one cost over €60. Just be cautious if you are out of towner.

Cucumber salad for 7 euros, in a very small bowl, served only with sour cream. Nothing about it was tasty... This restaurant was a mistake...

Prices have at least doubled since my last visit there. A dish with goose breast now costs €50, a side salad costs around €20 and the dessert also costs around €20. A normal schnitzel costs €33. I have no idea whether they have received a Michelin star here in the meantime to justify such horrendous prices for good home-style cuisine, but we thought that was more than exaggerated and went somewhere else.

Unfortunately the service was an absolute disaster, the sound makes the music!!! The waiter's behavior was impossible and there was no excuse, he was shouted at in front of all the guests. We were forced to leave the restaurant just because I tried a piece of cake from the bakery and the bag with the rest of the cake was on the table. According to me, I was able to say it in a normal tone and that it wasn't a problem to take the bag from the table. I was threatened with an extra €20 “HAHAHA”! I told him not to yell at me, I would finish my drink that I paid for and leave! I was then told that I had 5 minutes and should clarify this with the boss????. This was definitely the last visit!! If I could, I would give zero stars.

Hübsche Lage in der neuen Altstadt. Nach einem ausgesucht freundlichem Willkommen im Restaurant hatten wir durchgängig viel Freude mit einem sehr aufmerksamen Service. Wir hatten vier verschiedene Hauptgerichte und alle vier Besteller waren zufrieden. Aus einer außergewöhnlich umfangreichen Degistifkarte wählten wir zum Abschluss einen guten Rum aus Venezuela aus.

The recession is very difficult for me because, on the one hand, I really like the location and it's nice to sit outside. The service tried its best to somehow process the orders and payments on its own despite being completely understaffed. But you could clearly see the stress on his face. Shortage of skilled workers you can touch. The poor price performance ultimately upsets us. On the one hand, the tarte flambée for €16.90 had practically no filling; it felt like 1 g of chives could be seen with a magnifying glass and 5 g of bacon on it. Nothing else. The second dish was a bratwurst, which was delicious in itself but literally in the basic configuration like from a German car manufacturer: without anything. So we ordered fries for the little one. Fittingly, the ketchup also cost an extra €1.50 for 30 g, which was far from enough to drown the very tasty fries with too much salt in the ketchup. Maybe it was just a bad day and they are taking the criticism I made seriously.

What did we like? - The lady in service was very good. Friendly, courteous and professional. - The quality of the food was ok, but not great either. - The atmosphere is nice. What didn't we like? - The map is too extensive and strangely structured. - The price level is too high and unfortunately the price/performance ratio no longer fits. E.g. 3 Maultaschen for €30, without salad or similar €260 for 4 people, without wine is very sporty. - The nice lady from the service was at the end of her shift and cashed in. She referred to a colleague who would then take care of us. He didn't even come to the table and when we proactively tried to order, he was a bit annoyed. We then left and got a nightcap somewhere else. - The location of the new old town is good during the day. In the evening it's a bit spooky. All dining establishments are closed at 10:30 p.m. On a Friday evening in the city of Frankfurt! Of course there are alternatives on Braubachstrasse.

Vom Empfang bis Bedienung und Essen inkl. Dessert war alles vorzüglich. Preis Leistung stimmte, die Hintegrundmusik war sehr rhythmisch und der Aufenthalt angenehm, wir kommen wieder.

Very arrogant service!! This is not a pub in the classic sense, but a rip-off. I ate boiled beef with potatoes and green sauce in a copper pan - cold and not enough. 6 half small potatoes in addition because I only have 3 small ones in the pan cost 6.50 euros!! Green sauce and the wheat beer were delicious. Because they know that the tourists come once and never again! Not for locals - a shame.

Absolutely the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The prices are a complete rip-off, the quality of the food is subpar - charging over €16 for a dry tarte flambée that has been baked for far too long and consists of paper dough and a few unrecognizable ham cubes without onions or sour cream is an unparalleled impudence. And then shamelessly ask if it tastes good... The drinks prices are also crazy, €13.50 for a glass full of ice cubes with a bit of apple cider and sparkling water is simply cheating! If there were negative stars...

Nach Besuch der Schirn-Ausstellung sind wir hier eingekehrt-eine fragwürdige Entscheidung, denn: 1) Wenig Auswahl an Gerichten, dafür große Auswahl an Spirituosen 2) Portionsgröße am unteren Rand, zwei bis drei Esslöffel Spätzle als Beilage und für drei Personen zusammen eine kleine Schüssel Rotkraut, die man als 78kg-Mann auch alleine vertragen hätte. 3) Preisniveau angesichts dessen, trotz der Lage des Lokals, völlig überzogen, Bier alkoholfrei 6,90 Euro, Essen zwischen 30 und 40 Euro. 4) Service/Freundlichkeit durchschnittlich. 5) Einziger Lichtblick: schmackhaft war es. Fazit: Liebe Gastronomen, wenn man bei der Kundschaft den Eindruck erzeugen will, man wolle holen, solange es etwas zu holen gibt… dann ist es vortrefflich gelungen. Sorry, dann lieber zuhause gut kochen und etwas auf die Hand in der Stadt.

Das für 33 € bestellte Thunfischsteak wurde ohne Liebe zum Detail serviert: auf einem weißen Teller, begleitet von 6 € Pommes Frites in einem separaten Schälchen, ohne Sauce oder Garnitur. Selbst Fastfood-Restaurants wie McDonald's oder ein Dönerstand im Bahnhofsviertel schaffen es, Essen mit mehr Hingabe und Geschmack zuzubereiten als dieses Restaurant. Uns erst nach der Getränkebestellung mitzuteilen, dass das Hauptgericht ausverkauft ist, ist eine Sache, aber geschmackloses und liebloses Essen zu servieren, ist schlichtweg inakzeptabel. Dropped in to make reservations (after calling all day and being directly sent to voicemail) only to be “greeted“ by the most unfriendly waitress. Apparently she was unable to check the capacity and demanded us to call again, before kicking us out. I understand the raised stress levels during this time of the year, but such an attitude is unacceptable.

An den Abend im Wirtshaus am Hühnermarkt erinnern wir uns mit gemischten Gefühlen. Da ist auf der einen Seite das wirklich überraschend gute Wirtshausessen hervorzuheben war hier die exzellent gegarte Gänsebrust. Aber auch, was ansonsten aus der einsehbaren Küche kam, sah sehr ordentlich aus. Auf der anderen Seite bleibt jedoch selbst für unsere hartgesottene und Frankfurter Preise gewohnte Gruppe das ungute Gefühl, dass dieses Restaurant so viel mehr Spaß machen könnte, wenn einem nicht derart dreist das Geld aus der Tasche gezogen würde. Ja, die Lage ist touristisch an einem der hübschesten Plätze in Frankurt, aber nein, nein und nochmals nein: ihr übertreibt es bei den Preisen für Essen und Wein ganz gewaltig und bei einer Rechnung von 1000 Euro zu fünft noch EUR 7.90 für ein Tröpfchen Extra-Jus zur Gans zu berechnen,... merkt Ihr sicher selbst.

Hello 👋 We expected more … Wanted to eat goose leg, but only breast was available and too expensive. The first bread basket was not fresh - all in all we wouldn’t visit again.

Ich bin vor kurzem hier zum Essen gewesen und musste sehr lange überlegen was ich bestelle. Die Karte ist unübersichtlich und nichts sagend. Meine Vorspeise war „Feldsalat“ und ich wunderte mich schon, warum es keine genauere Beschreibung zum Salat gibt. Grund: Es ist einfach nur ganz normaler Feldsalat mit ein wenig Öl und ein paar Stückchen einer(!) Walnuss auf einem Teller, mehr nicht. Der Salat kostet 17€ Mein Hauptgericht bestand aus 3 Maultaschen mit ein bisschen Sauce für 30€. Das ist ein Witz und das Gericht war auch noch kalt.

Nur auf ein paar Bier eingekehrt. War viel gedämpfter als im Paulaner. Schön.

I visited the restaurant on a very busy evening, as the Christmas Market was in full swing. The restaurant was full, but they allowed me to sit at the bar, which was fine, as I was alone. I could also chat to the barman. I ate a beautifully cooked roast goose, with red cabbage, chestnuts and potatoes. Delicious. I will certainly visit again when I am next in Frankfurt

Discovered by accident and thoroughly enjoyed! Probably one of the more expensive restaurants for German food but it was oh so good and worth the price in my humble opinion. Friendly service, beautiful decor, cosy ambience and excellent food. Highly recommend and we will definitely return on our next visit to Frankfurt.

Zur Gastlichkeit gehören übrigens mitnichten nur qualitative Produkte, sondern auch die Kunst, den Gast als solchen wertzuschätzen, entsprechend zu behandeln und zu ver-pflegen. So arrogant und herablassend die von der „Empfangsdame“ hier, bin ich eigentlich noch nie behandelt worden, da ist selbst die Tür im Berghain eine Kuschelgruppe. Nach viel spürbarem Unwillen bei der Platzvergabe, wurde ich, trotz vorhandener Alternativen, neben dem Tresen platziert. Als Einzelgast kommt sowas mal vor, und jaja, Wirsthaus halt. Ich musste noch arbeiten und wollte die Nahrungssuche nicht unnötig in die Länge ziehen. Daher willigte ich ein. Mein Ziel war klar definiert: das angeblich beste Wiener Schnitzel von Frankfurt. Ich wollte Ihnen trotz allem eine Chance lassen, ich bin ja nicht nachtragend. In Punkto Kundenwunsch gab man sich weiter gnadenlos. Eine halbe oder kleine Portion war auf Nachfrage nicht realisierbar. Wieso, verstehe ich nicht. Das Schnitzel besteht ohnehin aus zwei Einzelteilen, und am Kartoffelsalat dürfte es auch nicht scheitern. Nun gut, also dann eben die volle Portion. Zu meinem Glück übernahm dann, nachdem die Bestellung aufgegeben war, ein freundlicher Servicemitarbeiter die Aufgabe der Gastbetreuung. Ich wählte als Begleitung noch den klassisch dazu gehörenden Gurkensalat. Die Bestellung war dann auch sehr rasch am Tisch. Das Schnitzel war gut. Sehr zart, die Panade souffliert und knusprig. Einen Klotz Zitrone dazu, der Kartoffelsalat tat seine Arbeit als Sättigungsbeilage und der Gurkensalat bestand aus dicklichen Gurkenscheiben die in einem Schälchen Schmand versenkt waren. Da war keinerlei Liebe oder gar Raffinesse zu schmecken. Tatsächlich schaffte ich die Portion dann auch ohne Probleme. Zahlte und spazierte die Strecke zu meinem Einsatzort zurück. Frankfurt hat viel gute Gastronomie zu bieten. Diese hier ist deutlich überbewertet!

Selbst wenn man die Lage berücksichtigt, sind € 32,- für einen Tafelspitz (eine Scheibe Fleisch, gute Krensoße, 08/15-Wurzelgemüse) und € 7,- für ein Bier völlig übertrieben. Als Münchner ist man ja einiges gewöhnt, aber das zahlt man nicht einmal hier.

Wir haben uns spontan entschlossen hier zu essen. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön. Die Bedienung freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir haben einmal das Wiener Schnitzel und einmal die Tagesempfehlung Maultasche genommen. Vorweg die Kürbiscremesuppe. Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Einfache und leckere Küche ohne Chichi. Wir hatten anschließend tatsächlich die Möglichkeit mit dem Chefkoch ein sehr nettes Gespräch zu führen. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Abend.

I hate their arrogance attitude towards Asians. This is beautiful restaurant but with ugly attitude. Dont recommend.

So viele Beschwerden weil die Preise zu hoch sind. Dann müssen sie woanders essen gehen, die Qualität ist sehr gut und die Lage wunderschön. Wem es nicht gefällt dann bitte einfach weiter in den üblichen kneipen essen gehen.

We walked by and decided to have lunch here since the place looked nice. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service! The schnitzel and Apple strudel were absolutely delicious as well as the famous green sauce. I love their horseradish sauce as well. Definitely great value for money!

Der Aperol Spritz besteht ganz überwiegend aus Eiswürfeln und zum Espresso gibt es auch auf Nachfrage hin kein Gläschen Leitungswasser dazu. Der Chef habe dies untersagt.

Ich war hier im Rahmen eines Firmenevents. Wir haben im Hof einen tollen Platz bekommen, auch im September konnten wir noch bis spät abends draußen sitzen, ohne zu frieren. Sehr aufmerksamer Ober, gutes Essen, aber doch ein wenig zu hochpreisig, daher nur 4 Sterne. Wiener Schnitzel war auch sehr delikat mit grüner Sauce . Dennoch fehlte etwas- vielleicht ein wenig Salat als kleine Beilage. Zum Abschluss sehr zu empfehlen: Mispelchen, eine Frankfurter Getränkespezialität mit Apfelbranntwein Calvados und einer eingelegten Frucht, eben der Mispel.

A decent if pricey restaurant in Frankfurt. We came looking for authentic Hessian food and unfortunately this did not have it. It seemed like it from the Google pictures but not when we got there. It did look very nice if pricey. We ended up passing on it for another place.

Niet klantvriendelijk. Personeel is niet vriendelijk en gastvrij en drinken (bier) is zeer duur. Evenals de rest van de menukaart.

Wie bereits bei vielen anderen Rezensionen fällt eine wirkliche Bewertung schwer. Wir waren zu zweit nach Feierabend auf den einen oder anderen Aperol eingekehrt. Das Ambiente ist natürlich wirklich schön. Der Service war auch im guten Bereich. Wir waren aber etwas geschockt als wir am Ende knapp 180€ auf der Rechnung hatten. 2 mal Burrata, 1 mal die Käseplatte und das eine oder andere Getränk. 40€ für die Käseplatte ist absolut unverhältnismäßig. Zumal wir leider auch noch eine tote Fliege auf der Platte hatten. Uns wurde zum "Ausgleich" jeweils ein Mispelchen aufs Haus angeboten. Kann ich mir jetzt auch nicht viel von kaufen. Angeekelt waren wir am Ende beide. Für einen Feierabend Drink kann man es machen. Für mehr würde ich es nicht unbedingt empfehlen.

I’m an international, who lives in Frankfurt. I love this place and bring my friends from London when they visit. It’s very polished and slightly more expensive than a regular place in Frankfurt. I personally think it’s worth it. They even take AMEX.

Had an early dinner here. The white asparagus was well cooked with steamed potatoes and I ordered a piquant green sauce and small Wiener Schnitzel to accompany. All were served with care. Riesling was a generous accompaniment. All in all, this is an excellent place...

Sono stata in questo posto perché dall’orario risultava aperto fino a tardi, e in Germania di domenica non è semplice trovare qualcosa. Arrivata mi hanno detto che la cucina era chiusa ma volevo un’insalata e mi hanno detto che era ok. Ordino la Cesar salad e il cameriere mi chiede se con pollo o gamberi e dico pollo. Mi arriva l’insalata senza pollo. Chiedo come mai al cameriere, e con modo deciso e maleducato si avvicina dicendo che io avevo chiesto l’insalata senza pollo ( assolutamente non vero), ma in ogni caso anzi che essere disponibile gli interessava solo aver ragione. Quindi ho chiesto se si poteva semplicemente aggiungere, perché magari non ci siamo capiti, tutto qui. Ma no non si poteva avere. Il prezzo è stato come l’insalata normale come da menu. Onestamente per il modo e il costo non ne vale la pena, peccato perché il posto è davvero molto carino in una piazzetta molto carina nella Dom area.
