Great home-style food at absolutely fair prices! Very friendly staff and somehow you get the impression that everyone enjoys doing their job!

We were here for the first time yesterday and were pleasantly surprised. Great ambience, relaxed atmosphere, great food and super friendly staff. Everything just fits here

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who lives in the area, so I was sure to make a reservation there during our trip to Aachen. Upon arrival, we were lucky enough to sit on the terrace, on the beautiful Hühnermarkt surrounded by the historical buildings of the Aldstadt. Surprisingly, the menu featured some non-alcoholic beers that also came in a half liter variant, and the large Allgäuer Edelweissbeer was very refreshing. I ordered a Braumeister Schnitzel, served with a sauce of mushrooms, onion and bacon, and opted for a side of baked potatoes instead of fries. Lucky for us we were sitting in these beautiful surroundings, so we had something to look at during the first 50 minutes of waiting. After talking to the waiter, he would check on our order but it took an additional 20 minutes for it to arrive (by that time, it was already 21:00). The long-awaited schnitzel was well-breaded and crunchy, but still tender on the inside. The meat itself did not have a lot of flavor, but the well-seasoned sauce made up for that and gave a lot of character to the dish. The baked potatoes were quite dry, but appeared to be less fat than the side of fries that usually comes with the dish. I feel that my judgement of the dinner is somewhat affected by the long waiting times we were faced with. As a gesture for the 1h10 of waiting, the staff offered to take our drinks on the house, which was very much appreciated. I would still recommend the place as I think it is one of the top spots in Aachen, but be prepared for longer waiting times on busy weekend nights.

We actually just wanted something to drink, unfortunately the female was there. Service totally overwhelmed. The drinks took forever and the foam on the Kölsch was almost gone. Paying took an eternity for the overwhelmed waitress. The colleague who came to us with the bill was very friendly and quick. We can't rate the food because we didn't eat anything. Too bad

Delicious food, lively atmosphere, great music. Servers kinda mixed up our order but caught their mistake quickly, apologised in a humourous manner and all was well. They have 10L beer keg, which is impressive and attractive if you're a large group and looking to have fun!

Great food, great service, great chef. A top restaurant. When we are in Aachen again, this will be the place to eat. Thank you for everything.

Lured by good reviews, I ate schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce, fries and salad! The best part was the salad! I have rarely had such tasteless food! Salt was completely missing! Zero taste! Does the chef taste anything else? He had enough time to smoke in front of the guests! The service seemed tense and lacked any composure. That's not how you survive in times like these! Make an effort! Nobody can survive on one-off walk-in customers alone!

The food is very tasty and meets every expectation of a pub, despite this I usually visit the place for a liquid refreshment. Whether it's a pole, a wreath or a barrel, everything is on offer. The very courteous and always professional service takes great care of you and I personally only know of a few restaurants where the beer I ordered is on my outdoor table in under 30 seconds, like here.

Nice place with a funny name after the bronze statue at the corner of the street. Food is well prepeared with consistent quality. Service is warm and friendly.

We went to Aachen for the day from Maastricht and wanted some good schnitzel. We found it here, it was excellent! The service was awesome and the prices were very reasonable. The Gaffel Lemon radler was very cold and refreshing. It is a very nice restaurant/pub with attractive decor. I am looking forward to visiting again someday.

Das Essen ist gut für ein Wirtshaus. Freundlicher Service. Allerdings wäre der Treppenaufgang zu den Toiletten und auch die Damen-Toiletten renovierungsbedürftig. Eine regelmässige Kontrolle der Toiletten wäre empfehlenswert.

Delicious outdoor spare ribs with farm house fries and 2 sauces. Delicious weize beer. The schweine meat with onions was also delicious. Top location and nice staff

We were lucky enough to eat here on Spare Ribs Day. What a huge portion and very tasty. Also the Brauhaus fries. The baked potato with mushrooms and salad, a poem. Nice, cheerful service. And of course the good Gaffel Kölsch “us Kölle”. It's a shame that we... Because of the bad weather we couldn't sit outside directly at the chicken market. We'd love to come back when the weather improves!

This restaurant is absolutely recommended! There were 15 of us there and we all got our food quickly. The food is super tasty and the portions are large! The chef and the other employees are very friendly and very entertaining. We had a great evening there and would love to come back!

Unfortunately, apart from the location, I can't think of anything positive about the restaurant. First of all it started with the fact that I was given the wrong food. Then you wait for cutlery and forever for the bill. The schnitzel was almost inedible. 2 cm thick, sinewy, fatty and only tasted of rancid fat, which it was also dripping with. Cream sauce from the bag, fries from the frozen food. Service was super unfriendly. Canteen level that has absolutely nothing to do with a pub.

Super delicious food at fair prices. The portions are really sufficient and we always enjoyed it very much. The attentive and professional service is particularly worth mentioning.

Moderate schnitzel. Breading is soggy and everything is drowned in the sauce.

We've been here for dinner a few times now. For vegetarians and vegans there is a good selection of schnitzel dishes that are very tasty! If you like drinking IPA, you should try the Gaffel Sonnenhopfen. The staff, who are super attentive and very friendly, deserve special mention! Absolute recommendation!

First of all, it should be said that the service is attentive and friendly and the restaurant is cozy. Unfortunately, the food here is not recommended. We ordered a Viennese style schnitzel, the brewery goulash and a vegan schnitzel. The schnitzels with potatoes in particular tasted like unseasoned frozen food. And that at a price of around €19 per dish. It should also be noted that the potatoes were ordered as an exchange (for fries) and meant an additional charge of €2.50.

The food didn't taste good. It was also quite expensive for what you get. Hunger and appetite were not satisfied.

So that was really cheeky. I was pleasantly surprised at first when I found vegan schnitzel on the menu, but when the food arrived the joy quickly disappeared. I asked beforehand if I could have potatoes instead of fries and was told yes. An additional €2.50 was then debited from the receipt. Ridiculous! The food was also ridiculous. Vegan schnitzel under 5 tons of onions and with a pile of poorly fried lukewarm potatoes. Plus a small loveless salad. And all for €19.90. Really not recommended.

Quaint pub, nice staff, good atmosphere. The menu mainly offers meat dishes, my Brauhausschnitzel with plenty of very good fries and a small salad was tasty and more than plentiful.

Good inn in downtown Aachen. Just like you imagine a good pub to be! Food really good, top service and value for money. Toilets currently under renovation 05.2024 (small construction site on the men's toilet, but not so bad)

Einfach toll! Das Essen, das Ambiente und die Laune unter den Kellner*innen einfach stimmig. Man fühlt sich wohl! Wer ein lockeres und entspanntes Kellner*innenteam und ein schönes Ambiente sucht, bei dem sich gleichzeitig um das Wohl der Gäste gesorgt wird, ist hier genau richtig. A cozy inn with very friendly service. Unfortunately I didn't like the sauerbraten, I've had much better ones. But next time just try something new.

It was a lovely evening, the service was very nice, and the chef with the cap and blonde hair was awesome, I haven't eaten such a delicious knuckle with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes for a long time. I can only recommend the inn. Greetings from the people of Paderborn

Delicious food in this cozy cafe. This café is located on the corner near the Cathedral and the market. Delicious goulash soup and flammkuchen, both worth it! Friendly and helpful service. Toilets also nice and clean. We will definitely come back here.

One of the best inns in Aachen in my experience. The service is simply top and the food is not inferior. We recommend.

My friend had an allergic reaction after he ate and myself had small rocks and sand in the salad coming with the schnitzels my tooth broke. Please check your hygiene and try removing all rocks and sands from lettuce. The waitress was not professional.

This inn is simply great, nice staff, great cuisine Food is delivered quickly and tastes wonderful. German cuisine at the highest level. I would be happy to come back. Music selection is exceptionally good. You feel well served even when the store is full. You can also come here to have parties.

We stopped there after a day tour in Aachen. Staff, young people, very friendly, quick and attentive. They like working there, you can tell. Food, good home cooking, tasted very good. There was also great music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Top music. I really liked it here. Aachen is full of fast food and take-away joints. The chicken thief is remarkably well positioned here.

I'm absolutely thrilled. The three gentlemen at the service are really great. Friendly, quick, very personable. They put their heart and soul into it. The food is great, Kölsch tastes good, so 👍👍👍👍👍

Sehr zentral gelegen gibt es einen kleinen Aussenbereich sowie einen hellen Innenraum. Angeboten werden verschiedene Biere sowie gut bürgerliche Wirtshausküche in guter Qualität. Einige Spezialitäten wie Haxen gibt es nur begrenzt an ausgewählten Tagen.

My girlfriend is vegeterian and to our suprise they even had vegeterian schnitzels here. Since she is used to vegeterian food being a hit or mis, she was a bit sceptical, however the vegeterian schnitzel was very delicious with the mushroom sauce on it. And as usual in Germany we got, alongside the main dish, a lot of fries and a really good and large salad. Would definitely eat here again!

Rippchen bestellt zum Bier. Eine Stunde später nachgefragt. Die Bestellung ist nicht an die Küche weitergeleitet bzw bearbeitet worden. Es hieß wir hätten nicht bestellt. Neu bestellen war zeitlich für den Koch nicht mehr drin. Geil. Ohne essen den Abend hier verbracht. Ein mal und nie wieder.

We must have had a bad day. The food was cold, the meat (sauerbraten) dry and tough, as were the dumplings; the salad without dressing. A pity. At least the brewery fries were very tasty.

Unfortunately the food wasn't that good. The red cabbage in the sauerbraten was cold (would then be warmed up or replaced), the meat was tough, the salad came without dressing.

Not the best pork chop but good gulash.

We didn't want to be influenced by all the negative reviews and gave the restaurant a try. Unfortunately we have to agree about the quality and taste of the food. There were two of us, we each had 1x goulash + side salad, each had a drink and paid €56. The goulash was completely over-peppered, which has little to do with “spicy” (we both REALLY like spicy food!). The meat wasn't tender and unfortunately we each had some pieces of meat with fat or even pieces of pure fat on our plate. With goulash we expected a thick, dark brown sauce...the local goulash was more of a Hungarian style. The spaetzle was okay. The side salad was, well, rather carelessly prepared with thick quartered tomatoes, four cucumber slices, some coleslaw and corn. Unfortunately the dressing was nothing special and was watery. The waitresses were friendly! Unfortunately, we were never asked whether we were satisfied, not even when the plates went back to the kitchen not empty. We definitely won't be coming back.

Nice place. The Braumeisterschnitzel took me back to times long past and brought back pleasant memories. And the service is also attentive and very friendly. Recommendation in Aachen.
