A very nice place to stay. The food and drinks were good and the price-performance ratio is good.

Overall disappointing. Bad service and too expensive for Aachen. We came to eat the mussels from the season menu. Unfortunately, mussels were no longer available at 7:45 p.m. When we wanted to order dessert (tiramisu) at 8:50 p.m. we were told the kitchen was already closed. The pork knuckle was ok, but not really crispy on the outside. Drinks are more expensive than usual in Aachen. Payment by cell phone is not accepted. However, there is an inconspicuously placed information sign at the entrance. All in all for tourists. We won't be coming back.

A complete failure. The previously crispy schnitzel was drowned in poor convenience bucket sauce. The service was unfriendly and incompetent. The ambience, well... Conclusion: once and never again

Rustic, cozy and a gem in the middle of downtown Aachen. Good home cooking in a Bavarian atmosphere. It's not for nothing that the brewery is regularly fully booked. A table reservation is strongly recommended.

Beautiful German brasserie, the setting is sublime and the food is good, however the service is terrible. The waitress, who took care of our table, was not friendly, no smile, no sympathy and bordering on disrespect. It's really a shame.

The service is not very friendly and if you are a tourist they charge you more than what is on the menu, also they don't let you pay with your bank card from your cell phone, the menu is on a tablet but only in German. It is an ideal place for tourists but the people who work there are anti tourist.

Brauhaus where you can enjoy delicious food. We went for the meat dishes: goulash and steak with red cabbage. The meat of the goulash was a bit on the dry side, but otherwise fine. You have to pay separately for ketchup and mayonnaise sachets to go with your food (strange). Staff is grumpy, which is a shame. When paying we were given a lecture because we had not stayed seated. With small children we didn't want to wait any longer so we walked to the cash register with the receipt. A bit unnecessary to get angry at customers for that reason.

Super attractive tent! You can order substantial but fairly simple (meat and fries) dishes here. From the street we did not expect to end up in such an almost fairytale-like place.

Several different types of beer, ambience okay, food okay. Had a schnitzel, which we can still call gypsy here, with fries and a very small side salad. The menu is on tablets, nice idea.

We had made reservations for 34 people to eat and drink. Upon entering, the hospitality was not very great. We were a nice group who wanted to have a drink. When we entered, the bartender immediately had a big mouth and we had to go outside. We have been coming everywhere for years but have never experienced this. What hospitality... that's really not how you treat guests. I am a catering professional myself, but I would never want to employ this staff member. Maybe the case is okay, but we'll be done soon.

Rustic brewery with a classic selection of dishes. These were tasty, the service was friendly and quick and the price was okay too. A visit to a restaurant as it should be, without being annoyed later as is often the case these days.

It's a nice place to have a meal with friends. A bit very loud for my feelings. Everything is a little tighter than in most restaurants, but this one has its own special flair. Food, service and ambience were or are good - not above average. For this 4 stars as an overall grade. I would like to come back.

Was there for dinner for the first time with family. Slaughter platter, two knuckles and a roast. Schlachtplatte was ok, nothing really special. The knuckles and the crusty roast were in the sauce, so there was no crust at all. Just wobbly rubber skin...but the taste was ok. We complained about this to the waitress and she told us that next time we should say in advance that we want fresh produce, which really disappointed me. I have to say. In any case, the beer was perfect!

I went there for lunch and ordered Curry Wurst and Hähnchen (chicken) Estragon. I went with my brother and he wanted to have some authentic German dishes so I chose Currywurst and he absolutely liked it. One important point is that they have a digital menu like they will provide you tab but the menu is only in German no English translations available. Another point is that they have only one chicken option like the one I tried. All other non-vegetarian options contain pork or beef. The food was tasty and I loved the chicken Estragon 😋 and the ambience is so good. Feeling like a heritage property and I liked it so much. Definitely recommend to try 🙌

The ambience is really fantastic. The staff is quick, attentive and friendly. The beer is great, you even have a selection. We had knuckle and roast pork. Both were really great, the knuckle was juicy on the inside and had a crispy and edible crust. Mashed potatoes were like mom’s. But: the sauerkraut didn't work at all. It was cute and that missed the point. The crusty roast was also juicy, the crust was delicious, the sauce was perfect, the dumplings were great, but the savoy cabbage didn't work at all. Oversalted and overcooked. Since the portions are very generous, you could safely leave the savoy cabbage and sauerkraut, but that's not the point, I think.

Typical German restaurant. The service could be more polite. Unwilling to open the upper floor for the six of us for a late lunch, though everyone else was only having a beer... We left.

Meine Frau fragte den Kellner nach einer Seniorenportion beim Sauerbraten. Gar kein Problem sagte der Kellner und brachte das Menü: Eine Scheibe Sauerbraten anstelle von zweien. Ein Kloß anstelle von zweien. Ein kleiner Klex Rotkraut! Der Preisnachlass war genau 1 Euro! Anstelle von 20,90 19,90 Euro. Das ist Abzocke und eine Riesen Unverschämtheit!

The food was ok but they don't accept regular card payments so beware. You need cash the Barman in the side bar was quite aggressive and grumpy. He didn't like me taking a photo inside the bar area. It all felt a bit awkward I think Aachen deserves a much better Brauhaus.

The food good. We ate breaded beef knuckle and fillets with pepper sauce. The problem was the coffees, we asked for caffe macchiato (with a little bit of coffee) and the waiter brought us coffee with the tub of liquid cream. He didn't bother to understand us. They give you a tablet to see the menu, but it is only in German. With that modernity, it could be put in several languages, it is not that difficult...

I went there with my parents. I went there as soon as it opened at 12 p.m., and a staff member who appeared to be the manager told me that since they would be accepting reservations from 1 p.m., they could give me about an hour to eat. Overall, the staff are friendly. The food is not salty and the quantity is just right. Haksen is average compared to other good restaurants. Slightly tough and sticky. Oh, what was ridiculous was that I asked for a plate and it cost 1 euro per piece. haha. It probably means you don't want to give it away. Anyway, I'm glad my parents, who came from Korea, enjoyed the food.

Very bad experience. If the food is decent the service is third world! They only accept cash and this is not indicated on the menu, it is never mentioned and only appears on a poor and half-hidden sign at the entrance. But they quickly know how to point out the nearest ATM!! I returned to the hotel to get some cash, leaving my wife and son as pawns, when it was time to pay they gave me a handful of 1 and 2 cents as change!!! The waiter ran away and two others appeared as Don Rodrigo's bravos. Bad experience that was resolved only by calling the police....place and people to avoid!!!!! I forgot, don't order water... a carafe is 9 euros!!! If we were in Venice!

Terrible experience, we had to call the police!!! Unfortunately, even though the food isn't even that bad, the staff was so rude and disrespectful that the evening was a disaster. First of all, water costs €9, NINE EUROS, are you kidding me? Then, before entering, when we asked if we could sit down, the elderly waiter told us to hurry up. As if that wasn't enough, once we finished eating, the same waiter told us we couldn't pay with a card—unbelievable. After we went to withdraw cash and paid, the situation escalated: the waiter gave us our change all in 1-cent coins (which are no longer accepted as payment) hidden in his fist so we couldn’t see them. When we realized it, we went to tell him, and he ran off. From there, the situation became unmanageable, to the point that we had to call the police. Not only did the waiters started mocking us, but they also laid hands on me. Don’t go there!!!

It really is a restaurant where you can enjoy really tasty German food, this is highly recommended if you want to eat well in Aachen. I've been here three times already...great.

Very disappointed in this place. The food was really tasteless and not what I expected. The schnitzel was small, and was not seasoned at all, not even with salt for as far as I could tell. The mushroom cream sauce didn’t have any salt either and was completely tasteless as well. The side salad had a fishy aftertaste: not sure if this was standing in the fridge for days or not, but I didn’t like it. Also, please note you CAN’T PAY BY CARD here (August 2024): no bank card, no credit card, only cash. I was forced to go to an ATM, and the waiter was really unfriendly in telling me so. She was kind of seeming to enjoy the situation where she said: ‘well you should have read the menu, it’s in the fine prints. It’s not my problem’. I thought that was really unnecessary. When I told the waiter in the hallway, away from the other guests not to embarrass her, that I thought it was a little mean and she could have been friendlier, all of a sudden she couldn’t speak English anymore. Another colleague came by to translate, and made more of a fuzz of it than necessary. When I simply said: it’s just feedback, I didn’t feel comfortable because of her tone and I think she could have handled this situation more friendly. The waiter simply laughed at my face and said ‘no’. Well, I guess they’re not really open to feedback. Please check other reviews here before you try to visit, lots of 1 star reviews. This is a place build for day visitors, they don’t rely on returning customers. A shame.

This is definitely the place to enjoy German cuisine with an old-fashioned atmosphere. All the dishes were delicious and the children were very satisfied. The food was very cheap compared to the Netherlands and there was a children's menu, which was helpful. Recommended for all situations, including families, couples, and businessmen!

You will be impressed by their service. Don't recommend this restaurant. Not the first time here but I'm done with it. The only difference is that I came with my 1 year old baby and just asked for a kids bowl. "You need to pay 1 euro extra in order to have a bowl." Better to mention such cost on your website or menu than a surprise to your customer. In this case, let me help you to share with everyone, for free. This is a kids unfriendly place. The staff working there are cool and very professional in pushing things back and making you feel unpleasant. Meanwhile, the baby chair is super sticky and I doubt the hygiene of the restaurant. Seriously, I cannot recall how many times I have recommended it to my friends and network, now I feel regretted, ashamed and I withdraw all.

The owner, an older gentleman, was very kind, from ordering to paying the bill. Portions were extremely large, far more than i could finish, which left me feeling a bit guilty. It was my first time trying German cuisine, and it was an unforgettable experience😺.

Visiting the brewery in Aachen. I can only say one thing about the service: top class! The house beer: sensational! The only thing I have to complain about is that the starter came almost at the same time as the main course, which was bearable as it was a small salad plate. Saying no self-service will make you angry 2. It looks like a traditional German restaurant style, but in fact it’s just a fool’s errand and doesn’t feel like it has any atmosphere. 3. I ordered three meals, the classic German sausage and salty pork knuckle. The taste was just the same, not as amazing as it said online. 4. There is no air conditioning in the restaurant and it is very stuffy.

Good brewery with typical German cuisine. The portions are huge. The food tasted good. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. However, some of the benches are quite narrow. The toilets were clean but really small. The staff seemed quite cold. All in all, a good visit to the restaurant.

The wait time reached almost an hour and a half The waiter wouldn't even check the kitchen after the second remind. On top of that, the portions were small. The space was small and crowded, so it was very hot.
