First of all Expensive, extremely rude service, smoking waitress making jokes, waiter who must have never traveled in his life, food that isn't great...

We ate at the brewery as part of a senior trip. The food was very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were also delicious beers. Always my pleasure. No accessibility.

I ate delicious food there for three days. The atmosphere in the brewery was very pleasant and the staff was friendly and accommodating. If I'm in Aachen again, I would go there at any time to eat, drink and relax.

The food was ok but they don't accept regular card payments so beware. You need cash the Barman in the side bar was quite aggressive and grumpy. He didn't like me taking a photo inside the bar area. It all felt a bit awkward I think Aachen deserves a much better Brauhaus.

The food good. We ate breaded beef knuckle and fillets with pepper sauce. The problem was the coffees, we asked for caffe macchiato (with a little bit of coffee) and the waiter brought us coffee with the tub of liquid cream. He didn't bother to understand us. They give you a tablet to see the menu, but it is only in German. With that modernity, it could be put in several languages, it is not that difficult...

I went there with my parents. I went there as soon as it opened at 12 p.m., and a staff member who appeared to be the manager told me that since they would be accepting reservations from 1 p.m., they could give me about an hour to eat. Overall, the staff are friendly. The food is not salty and the quantity is just right. Haksen is average compared to other good restaurants. Slightly tough and sticky. Oh, what was ridiculous was that I asked for a plate and it cost 1 euro per piece. haha. It probably means you don't want to give it away. Anyway, I'm glad my parents, who came from Korea, enjoyed the food.

Typical cuisine and pleasant atmosphere to enjoy a good Currywurst with a beer! This brasserie has a lot of charm, it’s a shame not to be able to pay by credit card and to have to go out and withdraw money.

Terrible experience, we had to call the police!!! Unfortunately, even though the food isn't even that bad, the staff was so rude and disrespectful that the evening was a disaster. First of all, water costs €9, NINE EUROS, are you kidding me? Then, before entering, when we asked if we could sit down, the elderly waiter told us to hurry up. As if that wasn't enough, once we finished eating, the same waiter told us we couldn't pay with a card—unbelievable. After we went to withdraw cash and paid, the situation escalated: the waiter gave us our change all in 1-cent coins (which are no longer accepted as payment) hidden in his fist so we couldn’t see them. When we realized it, we went to tell him, and he ran off. From there, the situation became unmanageable, to the point that we had to call the police. Not only did the waiters started mocking us, but they also laid hands on me. Don’t go there!!!

Very bad experience. We arrived at 8.30pm and the elderly waiter asked us to hurry. But the most absurd fact is that in 2024 they will not accept credit cards of any kind. High prices. They charged us €9 for 1 liter of water in a carafe. Not recommended

Very bad experience. If the food is decent the service is third world! They only accept cash and this is not indicated on the menu, it is never mentioned and only appears on a poor and half-hidden sign at the entrance. But they quickly know how to point out the nearest ATM!! I returned to the hotel to get some cash, leaving my wife and son as pawns, when it was time to pay they gave me a handful of 1 and 2 cents as change!!! The waiter ran away and two others appeared as Don Rodrigo's bravos. Bad experience that was resolved only by calling the police....place and people to avoid!!!!! I forgot, don't order water... a carafe is 9 euros!!! If we were in Venice!

Negative experience. You order on a tablet and it's not in English. If you want to do it with the tablet then also put photos of the dishes. When paying they didn't accept any type of card, only cash... you're in a tourist area, luckily I had cash... anyway I won't go back, sorry

It really is a restaurant where you can enjoy really tasty German food, this is highly recommended if you want to eat well in Aachen. I've been here three times already...great.

Very disappointed in this place. The food was really tasteless and not what I expected. The schnitzel was small, and was not seasoned at all, not even with salt for as far as I could tell. The mushroom cream sauce didn’t have any salt either and was completely tasteless as well. The side salad had a fishy aftertaste: not sure if this was standing in the fridge for days or not, but I didn’t like it. Also, please note you CAN’T PAY BY CARD here (August 2024): no bank card, no credit card, only cash. I was forced to go to an ATM, and the waiter was really unfriendly in telling me so. She was kind of seeming to enjoy the situation where she said: ‘well you should have read the menu, it’s in the fine prints. It’s not my problem’. I thought that was really unnecessary. When I told the waiter in the hallway, away from the other guests not to embarrass her, that I thought it was a little mean and she could have been friendlier, all of a sudden she couldn’t speak English anymore. Another colleague came by to translate, and made more of a fuzz of it than necessary. When I simply said: it’s just feedback, I didn’t feel comfortable because of her tone and I think she could have handled this situation more friendly. The waiter simply laughed at my face and said ‘no’. Well, I guess they’re not really open to feedback. Please check other reviews here before you try to visit, lots of 1 star reviews. This is a place build for day visitors, they don’t rely on returning customers. A shame.

This is definitely the place to enjoy German cuisine with an old-fashioned atmosphere. All the dishes were delicious and the children were very satisfied. The food was very cheap compared to the Netherlands and there was a children's menu, which was helpful. Recommended for all situations, including families, couples, and businessmen!

You will be impressed by their service. Don't recommend this restaurant. Not the first time here but I'm done with it. The only difference is that I came with my 1 year old baby and just asked for a kids bowl. "You need to pay 1 euro extra in order to have a bowl." Better to mention such cost on your website or menu than a surprise to your customer. In this case, let me help you to share with everyone, for free. This is a kids unfriendly place. The staff working there are cool and very professional in pushing things back and making you feel unpleasant. Meanwhile, the baby chair is super sticky and I doubt the hygiene of the restaurant. Seriously, I cannot recall how many times I have recommended it to my friends and network, now I feel regretted, ashamed and I withdraw all.

Visiting the brewery in Aachen. I can only say one thing about the service: top class! The house beer: sensational! The only thing I have to complain about is that the starter came almost at the same time as the main course, which was bearable as it was a small salad plate. If I have time tomorrow evening, I'll come back.

The owner, an older gentleman, was very kind, from ordering to paying the bill. Portions were extremely large, far more than i could finish, which left me feeling a bit guilty. It was my first time trying German cuisine, and it was an unforgettable experience😺.

Come here in admiration and return disappointed. 1. The service was pretty bad. Both waiters seemed to be working according to the rules. They walked past me three times and pretended not to hear me and didn’t even turn around when I called them. As a result, I got up to get the menu and the other waiter followed me. Saying no self-service will make you angry 2. It looks like a traditional German restaurant style, but in fact it’s just a fool’s errand and doesn’t feel like it has any atmosphere. 3. I ordered three meals, the classic German sausage and salty pork knuckle. The taste was just the same, not as amazing as it said online. 4. There is no air conditioning in the restaurant and it is very stuffy.

Good brewery with typical German cuisine. The portions are huge. The food tasted good. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. However, some of the benches are quite narrow. The toilets were clean but really small. The staff seemed quite cold. All in all, a good visit to the restaurant.

The wait time reached almost an hour and a half The waiter wouldn't even check the kitchen after the second remind. On top of that, the portions were small. The space was small and crowded, so it was very hot.

Great ambience, good service, portions far too small. Anyone who comes here hungry will be disappointed. I go to the brewery in every city and am more than disappointed with the Aachen one. The slaughter platter is a joke, smoked pork with sauerkraut was tasty, but also far too little. The news was good and sufficient. Nevertheless, we probably won't come to this brewery again.

I ordered Haxe and draft beer. The amount of food is ample, you can also taste Aachen's local draft beer, and you can enjoy the atmosphere of a good old German bar. The food isn't cheap.

The rustic setting is very nice and the staff very helpful. The traditional German cuisine is excellent and the pork knuckle deserves a special mention. The only downside is that payment by credit card is not welcome (indicated at the entrance) and it is better to bring cash.

Clearly tourist, we weren’t made aware of the fact they only take 1 type of card (a german bank card type called giro). Then had to struggle to go to the bank and all of that slowed the payment in the end. 3 other tables around us had the same problem. Why telling us just in the end? Also, while waiting for the main course I started coughing and I was told I couldn’t sip from my water bottle. And that I had to pay 2 pound to order a drink. So I had to do that and cough until they brought me a small glass of water for 2€. Terrible place.

Quaint restaurant with a bored, shuffling waitress. Mashed potatoes are out of the package, food is just OK. As we were leaving, my husband asked: How did they get such a good rating (4.3). It's a mystery to me too.

I have been coming to this rustic traditional restaurant since the 1960s and have always been served very quickly, politely and attentively and special requests are also taken into account. The home-style cuisine is particularly impressive with its brewery dishes. The pork knuckle, pork knuckle and sauerbraten are very tasty, not to forget: Öcher Stadtbräu.

We often visited this place in the 1980s. 20.06.24 we were there again. The venue and the food were just like back then...

Typical place with medieval style decoration. The waiters are attentive and serve quickly. The food was good (schnitzel and apfelstruddel), although not the best I've ever eaten. Problem when paying, they don't accept Visa (they told me it didn't work) and I had to pay money.

We arrived at 12:30 and was checking if any child seat/table for 4 availabe. However, there are very limited space for child seat, the whole lobby area has only 1 table which they can put the child seat. The inner part of the restaurant might have chance but it was full. In any case, the conversation made me uncomfortable and I did not feel being welcomed to the restaurant with a child (from the attitude of the conversation). It is fine that we did not have to have a meal here, it is a pity that the attitude was something making our family uncomfortable. It could be very a very individual or personal experience.

Visited the rustic "Oecher Brauhaus" again over the next few days... they serve appropriate and hearty home-style food... so everyone should find something on the relatively large menu... the dishes fit the concept and are generally well prepared ...here and there a little bit of fine-tuning wouldn't hurt...e.g. here in the case of the crusty roast, the crust of the roast was unfortunately covered with the somewhat limited sauce...so that the crust was of course completely softened...does But in this form it doesn't really make sense, does it? The meat could also have been braised a little more tenderly...the price structure is pretty decent...it couldn't be more expensive...the service was friendly and experienced...the atmosphere there was super rustic...so with one A visit to Aachen is definitely a must... and it's best done in conjunction with the small pub next to it called "Stegraa"... oh yes... a small downer... it's a shame that the legendary... is so popular there and very delicious "Oecher Lager" no longer exists...so a delicious unique selling point has been lost...it's a shame...😌

Typical brewery dishes and a very large selection of beers. Rustic seating areas and lots of fun with a group. The specialties are typical Aachen dishes and fast service. We had lots of fun. If you want to spend a quiet evening, you have to go to the gallery or to a small corner.

We gambled and were gladly offered a table for 4 without a reservation on a Friday evening. Great start! Food and service were top notch, and the ambience makes the dinner experience even more special! Worth a stop when in Aachen, or even better, worth a quick trip when visiting Maastricht for a richer culinary experience.

Real brewery. Unfortunately it closes at 10 p.m. The food was very tasty but the portion could have been a little larger. Price/performance is therefore ok. I would like to highlight the service: very attentive and friendly even though the house was full!

We were a group, pre-booked. Then the next room wasn't free and we had to sit in the restaurant. As soon as we had our drinks the food arrived. We were literally dispatched. Not recommendable.

Had dinner there with 2 people. The schnitzel was lukewarm. When I asked to leave the food in the microwave a little longer, the waitress replied bluntly, "Nothing goes in the microwave here." But then I ask myself why the guest at the next table was able to eat a pork knuckle with dumplings just 5 minutes after ordering?? In any case, we won't be entering the restaurant again!

If you just want to drink something, you are forced to go to a small restaurant on the right that is completely overcrowded. If you want something to eat, you can enter through the main entrance. We left immediately. Thank God there are alternatives.

First the starter: Ordered side dishes salad with vinegar & oil dressing. I then got a salad with vinegar essence. I choked on the first bite and my lip was numb for 5 minutes. Upon request and explanation, I received a new one without any dressing. As the only veg. The main course was pasta with tomatoes, which was tasty. Definitely only recommended to a limited extent for vegans.

Amazing place, pleasant service. I came to try Sauerbraten, I have eaten it. Hard to estimate cause i have nothing to compare with. For me meat wasn't soft enough for a long marinated one...

It looked really nice. We were warmly welcomed. When he realized we weren't there to eat, just to drink, his tone immediately changed. He gave us our order with a sigh. When we wanted to pay, it was also quite a hassle. According to him, we couldn't pay with payconicq even though it was clearly possible. He threw our change on the table and walked away with a sigh. I don't know if it has something to do with us being young, but I find it unacceptable. I think a little kindness towards those around you is in order.
