We were very satisfied with everything.

It was a quiet night. Had the sauerbraten, and I'm no expert on the dish but tasted perfectly fine.

Finally, time for mussels again!

I went there for dinner for the first time with my supplier. The service was very stressed. The food was still great, though. We had an appetizer and a main course. What really bothered us was...: We shared the appetizer and wanted to have one plate. The server mentioned that she would have to charge us an extra euro for that. We were absolutely shocked. I've never experienced anything like it.

The sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage is almost as good as mine. The service is courteous and very quick. Thank you!

I was recommended by your logo guide a friend of mine. It was a very great experience. We went at around 8:30. The food there is amazing is a traditional Germany grilled pork meat. The portion is amazing. Also, the taste is fantastic is a reasonable price and it’s I think it’s a very local restaurant, the atmosphere is so great.

Absolutely delicious, and the service was efficient and fast! The only downside was that the waiters weren't very friendly, a bit cold, but incredibly efficient, you can't deny that 😆 I highly recommend the sweet and sour beef from Aachen!!

To begin with, the ambiance and food were good, but unfortunately, everything else was a complete disappointment. Communication regarding the reservation was extremely difficult and time-consuming. Ordering on-site wasn't possible because we were a group of over 20 people. Therefore, it had to be done online, as I was personally informed at the brewery. However, my initial reservation request via the online form hadn't received any response, which is why I ended up showing up at the brewery in person after four business days. The staff then simply told me that I should probably use the general email address, as the online form wouldn't work – find the logic in offering this option online! Well, the email inquiry did eventually provide some information, but I had to do most of it myself. The only information I received from management was whether they accepted card or cash payments. Whether we could order à la carte, whether pre-ordering specific dishes would be better, and whether there would be one large table or several individual tables – all of this had to be clarified through multiple emails. The requested time could not be confirmed; instead, a time 30 minutes earlier, provided by the brewery, was given, which I then confirmed in writing. We also had to leave two meals in advance, which wasn't a problem. Unfortunately, on the day of the reservation, it became clear that our initial fears were confirmed: there had been a reservation error on the management's part. They had booked us in 30 minutes earlier than confirmed in the email, and promptly received a call on my smartphone asking where we were, as we had a reservation and the restaurant was very busy. When we arrived at the restaurant on time after receiving confirmation, we were greeted in a very grumpy and moody manner. This didn't change even after we ordered our drinks and food, which had all been pre-ordered by email. When we mentioned the menu numbers for the dishes, we were snapped at and told that we should name them, since the waitstaff wouldn't know our numbers, which, mind you, were the numbers from their menu. Furthermore, the response was very rude when another order had to be canceled due to illness. Drinks and the remaining 18 dishes we had ordered arrived at the tables very quickly. However, we felt like we were being processed like cattle, as we were given the impression that everything was being rushed. Adding another dish for someone who joined us later was an extra inconvenience, as it meant we were blocking the table for longer than expected. The absolute escalation came, however, when a repeated interruption from a neighboring table was finally answered with a "Hey!" At which point, a female waitress berated and reprimanded someone who wasn't involved in the interruption. Because of this incident, we finished our drinks and left the brewery. As we were leaving the restaurant, the aforementioned waitress approached us with the words, "Yes, finally!" We didn't comment and simply walked out, unsure if she was referring to us. However, since we were getting ice cream at the ice cream parlor next door and therefore lingering on the sidewalk in front of the brewery, we noticed the waitress heading off duty. As she walked past us, we echoed her words, "Yes, finally!" She promptly turned back to us and reprimanded us again. Realizing she was running out of arguments, she simply ended the conversation, leaving us without any attempt at resolution, apologies, or other explanations. My conclusion: Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant due to the service staff!

A classic German beer hall with regional cuisine, which, in addition to its own brew, serves several varieties of guest beers, both commercial and lesser-known.

Today we had mussels accompanied by pork knuckle, red cabbage and mashed potatoes.

We had a really good, delicious, and inexpensive meal there. They had a daily changing lunch menu! Everything was great!

Beautiful decoration. Beer was tasty, food was ok but nothing special for the price, service left a lot to be desired. They need to update their payment methods and start giving receipts instead of handwritten notes...

Whenever we're in Aachen, we always go here, but I have to say this was probably the last time. The food was absolutely terrible this time. My husband and I ordered meatloaf, which was served after only about five minutes. It wasn't meatloaf; it was a gray, unidentifiable piece of meat, if there even was any meat in it. Probably more bread than meat. It didn't look appetizing either. My schnitzel wasn't very good on my previous visit either. The food used to be better. Next time we're in Aachen, we'll definitely go somewhere else.

The food is good, and the atmosphere and service are very nice. However, the pork knuckle tasted reheated, and the fries weren't homemade and were rather bland. But the worst part was that we ordered a 1-liter pitcher of cold water (they didn't bring the bottle) and they charged us €9 for it. I don't know if it was tap water or bottled because, as I said, they didn't bring the bottle, but €9? Also, they don't accept cards. I don't recommend it.

Fantastic authentic German cuisine - I ate here with my son and we both really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere within the Brauhaus. If we are back in Aachen we will be sure to visit again

The meal was good: meatloaf with red cabbage and fried potatoes, chicken breast in tarragon sauce (surprisingly mild and delicious), and Aachen beer – everything as it should be in a brewery, hearty and flavorful. The only thing that was very unpleasant was the behavior of the waiters when I initially just wanted a drink: I was escorted to the "Tränke" (liquor room), where you can drink but not eat. I was pushed through a sliding door, and then we sat on the small "penitent bench" in a tiny, stuffy, and noisy bar. We had to get a menu, drank two tasty beers, and then officially entered the "restaurant," which was separate from the Tränke (liquor room), as we were told after I criticized this practice, which could be improved. Oh yes: please use the front entrance and not the back entrance like we did (Maps is to blame 😜), that's less irritating!

A very nice old brewery. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. The food was exceptionally good, and the price-performance ratio was also good.

It's not a brewery. Although the seating is nice inside, it's more like a chain restaurant. The food arrives freshly heated about seven minutes after ordering. The portions are rather small. Overall, the price is rather high, and based on my recent experience, I'd recommend checking the bill.

When I tried to take a wet wipe, the waiter came and shout you can not take tissue it is not for free. It is a rude behaviour. He could say in a polite way.

It was my first time at the restaurant, and it was a good experience. However, when I was paying the bill, I was in for a surprise. They don't accept credit cards or debit cards from other countries. I live in Belgium and went for a visit. Okay, I had some cash; the bill came to €86, and I was only €6 short. They didn't give me an option to pay the rest. I offered a bank transfer, all my cards, and nothing. They simply said there was nothing they could do. I left my wife and my kid at the restaurant and tried to withdraw money, but to no avail. Seeing my difficulty, they really didn't give me an option, because of the €6 bill. I had to go to a supermarket and ask a customer who would pay the bill in cash to give me the amount, so I could pay with my Belgian card. That was the only way I could get the remaining €6. I returned to the restaurant, paid the 6 euros, rescued my wife and daughter, and left. It was a complete lack of empathy. However, there was a small sign at the entrance warning that they didn't accept credit cards. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention.

I loved this place. I came in for a beer and snack and they delivered. Beer was ice cold, reasonably priced. The food was great! Especially that potato salad. I also really loved the look of the place. Will most definitely be making a point of going back when I return to Aachen.

The ambiance is quite good, venerable and old. The food was reminiscent of cafeteria fare; nothing special, rather bland. After asking for mayonnaise, we were handily handed a mini packet like at McDonald's. At a brewery, I would have expected a small bowl or something similar. The Aachen beer, on the other hand, was delicious, hence the 3 stars overall, otherwise only two.

We had a wonderful meal and drinks in a super atmospheric place. It feels very authentic, and the service is very friendly. It's also reasonably priced for what you get. I highly recommend it. We spent €30-€40 per person, but you can easily get a meal and one or two drinks for €20 per person.

The pig's feet are not too big, the skin is not too hard, the sauerkraut is refreshing and not greasy, the German sausage has a very fragrant spice flavor, and the German beer is indeed more hoppy!

Food was average. Beer was OK. Service was not very good. Biggest drawback was that they don't accept card payments but they don't tell you that until they give you the bill.

Terrace on a busy street, noisy. Service friendly. Food: Good liver, mashed potatoes taste like they were made from powder. Even worse: cheese spaetzle were overcooked, cheap pasta, cheese with no flavor at all (was that even cheese???), and the few onions as garnish came from a can. Tasteless. Disgusting. Although we couldn't make a reservation because everything was already fully booked, we were able to choose where we wanted to sit since we arrived early before the big rush. The service was very quick and friendly. The menu is extensive, with something for everyone. My portion wasn't quite as generous, but it was still very tasty. The waiter was absolutely fantastic; he gave us a postcard to send.

A place with typical German food of very good quality. We ordered pork knuckle and it was spectacular. The prices aren't cheap, and they gouge you on drinks, but you know you're going to eat quality food. I'm not giving it all the stars because they wouldn't let me pay by credit card and forced me to pay in cash. I wasn't warned about this upon entering, nor was it advertised on any sign, which is a clear violation of consumer rights. However, since I'm unaware of current German legislation, I agreed to pay in cash. However, anyone who wants to come here should be aware that they require you to pay for meals in cash (if you're a local and are sitting at the bar having a beer, they do allow you to pay by card).

Typical German food, good overall. The problem was the treatment we received from the waitresses: they were all rude and impolite, rushed, and never smiled. When paying, we were informed that only Maestro cards and cards from a couple of German banks were accepted, so many of us had to go out and withdraw money to pay in cash. No explanation was given; in fact, we were treated rudely.

It’s been 30 years since I last came here. The Pork knuckle tastes the same as 30 years ago which is excellent. The Schnitzel was also good. Two of us paid €52 for food and drinks. A good place to start to learn about German cuisine. Highly recommended.

I really loved the interior design of the place. The serving is quite large so we shared our food. I'm looking for a little bit more flavor with the food but overall the meat was soft and tender. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. The catch for payment is they so not accept Visa or MasterCard. Be prepared to have cash or a giocard, v pay or maestro cards.

Excellent brewery in the heart of Aachen, good food and excellent service in a quaint venue. The only downside is that you can't eat at the outdoor tables, only drinks.

The food, portion size, and beer hall atmosphere were all as expected, though the food arrived a bit too quickly. A word of caution to those using non-German debit cards: bring plenty of cash, as Euro debit cards from other countries don't seem to be accepted. Remember to make reservations.

The waiters were very rude, didn't speak English, and understood very little. We had to pay in cash because they wouldn't accept debit cards without a plausible explanation.

Cosy restaurant. As the name suggests it is an old brewery. The service is excellent with a lot of friendly attention.

Food is generally good, we had no issues with the service until we asked for a bill. They only accept maistro and giropay cards and some local German cards, so I ask what card is ok as I have several cards. I was hoping giropay is like a global method and one of my cards is compatible with it. The waiter was kind of pissed off already when I told him can he try one card I was hoping to work. But in the end we need to go to the ATM that is nearby. I walked to the front and when my partner arrived back the waiter asked me to show him the bill, but I left it at the table or at the bathroom I'm not sure. He accused us of lying, and keeping it in our pocket, just that he need to walk back to the computer, when I emptied my pocket showing him no, he became kind of borderline aggressive, grumpy. One of the weirdest restaurant visits with his aggressive attitude. I'm not sure why I'm 2025 at a restaurant in the city centre in a tourist place that only accepts local German cards and maistro cards what noone is using anymore, but more I'm not sure why a waiter is so grumpy, bit aggressive by words, accuse their customers with things they didn't commit. There are so many nice places in Aachen even nearby, I will choose another one next time for sure.

House specialties are something one should really try here. We tried 3 or 4 of them during our 2 visits in there, and all of them tasted perfect.

The liver was delicious (I think it was seasonal). Well presented, very tasty. Also served with a local beer. Service was friendly and super quick. The atmosphere is quaint. In 2025, in a traditional inn in a city that aspires to be seen as a global city and attracts a corresponding audience with events like the CHIO, you will NOT be able to pay by credit card. Embarrassing.

A disastrous experience before entering. I've known this restaurant for years, and despite the fact that the service is often not characterized by friendliness, we continue to come back thanks to the high-quality, typical German cuisine. However, this time, we invited some friends over, and when we tried to open the door, a person yelled at us rudely and unpleasantly. We realized the restaurant was closed, and given our incomprehension, the person made no attempt to explain anything in a polite and service-oriented way. They clearly don't care about losing customers.

Beer is delicious. The ambiance is pleasant, and the food is moderately good.

On Saturday 21 December 2019, we ate here with six people, from 17:05 to 18:18. We found it a cozy and atmospheric location, where it was pleasant to stay. The dishes were well prepared, although we felt that we missed some pronounced flavors that we have sometimes experienced elsewhere. The service was fast, perhaps even a little too fast, which made the whole thing feel a bit rushed.

Cool place. Average prices. We ate boiled and grilled pork knuckle. The boiled one was perfect, the grilled one was a bit dry but the skin was beautifully browned. The big disadvantage is the lack of the possibility to pay by card. Cash only.

You can only pay in cash. Otherwise, the classic German brewery, both the beer and the typical dishes are excellent.

The atmosphere is great and the grilled haksen is so delicious. The hall staff has changed a lot, so the service seems to have improved a lot.

We had a nice day here on the terrace to eat and drink something. On the terrace you can only pay cash which I think is fine. The food is very tasty. Service is quick and neat. The terrace is on the road which causes traffic noise from mainly city buses, but for me that is no reason not to sit here. So much to see outside.
