And yes, we don't shy away from comparing burgers to those in other cities – no burger has yet been able to knock Whats Beef off the top spot. Perfectly cooked, great taste, and a wide variety of options; I love the "Lady Marmalade." The fries are also sensationally good, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Whats Beef comes highly recommended, both in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.

I had high expectations based on the many positive reviews and the price point, as burgers start at around 14 euros. While a burger does not need to be complicated, at this price you would reasonably expect good quality and freshness. Unfortunately, the bun was very dry, the food arrived cold, and there was a hair visible in the bun. Overall, the experience did not match the expectations created by the reviews or the price. I would not return.

I loved this burger joint! The kids' play area is a really great touch. We tried two; the smash burger was our favorite, definitely a must-try. The staff were very welcoming. They offer complimentary chocolates upon arrival. They absolutely do not use pork. The fact that the owner is Turkish is also a nice touch. I would like to commend the milkshake, which was prepared with care and tasted good. Overall, the prices are far too high for the quality offered and the self-service nature of the food. No one came to our table to check if everything was alright, which should be standard practice in a restaurant of this price range.

Visited today, November 27th, 2025, at lunchtime. The smash burger was completely burnt and unappetizing, the sweet potato fries were mushy and not fresh. Guys, please work properly, even when it's a bit busier. It's better to make people wait a little longer and deliver quality. I'll give you another chance in two weeks!

We went there as a team, and I was initially worried that the place wouldn't be "business-like" enough—especially since you order at the counter. But it was perfect for team building. We had a lot of fun, delicious food, and great conversation. The noise level was perfect. The fact that you can help yourself to pickles and jalapeños was a big hit. The place looks so phenomenal. The interior designer deserves a raise. All in all 10/10 would definitely return. It's definitely one of the best burger joints in town. No other place in Bavaria even comes close when it comes to service, price, atmosphere, and, of course, the food. I think it's a real shame that so many other people in Germany don't get to try something like Whatsbeef. The chance to ever truly know the taste of the burgers, the quality, and the love that goes into them is something very few people get to experience. I highly recommend eating in. This shop is definitely a clear recommendation; don't waste any time choosing. This shop is indispensable in Frankfurt.

Finally, we tried a delicious burger. We ordered smash burger, the mighty spicy and fried chicken burger with the french fries it was very very delicious.

The food was really good! Cool atmosphere. You order and pay at the counter. The food is then brought to your table. Our dogs were given water right away.

The smash burger was fantastic; the filling, sauces, and patty were delicious and well-done. The sweet potato fries were also delicious. We liked the truffle fries, although they were a bit oily. Service was fast. Seating was ample and comfortable.

In my opinion, they have the best burger in the world there. I would highly recommend it.

We went here for dinner on a Sunday evening around 5:30 pm. It wasn't very busy at first, but the restaurant gradually filled up. The menu mainly consists of beef burger variations. They looked good. I had a chicken burger, which was well-prepared. The fries I ordered with it were the best I've had in years – flavorful and perfectly crispy. Including a Sprite, I paid €23. The strawberry soda wasn't very popular at the table. My only criticisms were the ordering process at the counter and the way the food was brought to me using a waiting number. They could be more efficient in these areas. Overall, I was impressed with the restaurant and would recommend it and eat there again.

The FAQs do mention Halal/Kosher, but the answer "Just ask at the checkout" completely misses the point of an FAQ. You don't travel all the way to Frankfurt just to ask such a simple question 🤦🏻‍♂️

Amazing service. There's a guy there walking around talking to customers when they enter and he's super nice. I struggle hearing people, as well as anxiety, so when he talked to me, i just kinda stared empty. He then talked to me in English, thinking i dont speak german, I do. But that was great service, I have to admit. 10/10. I'm much better at conversing in English. Got a chicken barbecue burger and sweet potato fries. Laying in bed now months later I'm still thinking about it. It was that good.

Yesterday I visited What's Beef in Frankfurt for the first time – a cozy spot with a modern atmosphere, somewhat tucked away on a side street between Willy-Brandt-Platz and the Römer. I had the BBQ Fabulous with smoked cheese, dry-aged beef bacon, onion rings, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, chipotle mayo, and BBQ sauce – incredibly delicious, very good to eat. The BBQ sauce was extremely good! The fries came in generous portions, and you could help yourself to more mayo and ketchup (as well as jalapeños or pickled peppers) at the counter. The service was fast, and the wait time was pleasantly short. The restaurant focuses on fresh, high-quality ingredients (e.g., the meat is locally sourced, the buns are baked on-site). And somehow, you can taste it! Overall: A very good place for burger lovers – I definitely recommend it.

Vacationing from the USA. Decided to see what the German take on american food was. Got an old menu with an 'Oklahoma smash burger' on it. They said they could still make it, so I got that (being from Oklahoma, I had to - it's probably the law). The burgers were great. Big, messy, and greasy. Perfect. The chili cheese fries had jalapeños and corn chili with beans . . . not exactly authentic, but it's their take on the theme. We still loved it.
