Wenzel Halle in Halle (Saale)

The food (burger and fries) wasn't to our taste, and the portion was rather small for the price. The service was friendly and attentive. When the restaurant is full, the noise level is very high, and it's impossible to understand the people at the table. With my hearing aids, it was impossible to follow conversations.

There were three of us. The prices aren't cheap, but the food is tasty. I had a solyanka which, at over €8 for the portion size, I felt was too expensive, but it tasted good. The goulash with Bohemian dumplings was well-seasoned, although the meat content could have been a bit higher.

Wenzel's is one of my favorite restaurants, and we always love coming back. The food 🌯 is delicious as always, and the service is always very friendly... ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I'd like to add to my review from last year. This year we used the "Christmas Dinner to Go" service. It was simply fantastic. Delicious food, a huge portion, and unbeatable value for money. We highly recommend it, especially if you, like us, are hosting a lot of guests at home. I could never have managed it otherwise. So, thank you very much, and we'll definitely be back next time.

We were a group of 14 at Wenzel Halle. Overall, 12 of us really enjoyed our meal – the kitchen definitely has potential, and the atmosphere and concept are a good fit. Unfortunately, one thing marred the evening: two of our meals arrived freezing cold. Because there was no server around at the time, we didn't complain immediately – only when our plates were almost empty. Of course, we could have explained this to the team, but a professional approach would have been crucial. Instead of an apology, we were initially met with the question of why we hadn't said anything – and that seemed to be the end of the matter from the server's perspective. Unfortunately, the person affected was the one who had paid the entire bill. I then approached the server myself, expressed understanding for both sides, and asked for some small compensation, including an apology. Later, she said she couldn't offer a shot of schnapps, but would provide a coffee "if necessary." When we reiterated how cold the food was, we received more excuses than a genuine apology. In the end, nobody even wanted the coffee anymore. The bottom line: the food was mostly good, but there's definitely room for improvement in the guest service and the response to legitimate criticism. It's a shame – a simple "We're sorry" and a professional solution could have salvaged a lot.

The premises were very cold upon entering, as the heating was off. The venue was fully booked and yet still closed at 9 pm on Sundays. This is unnecessary during the Christmas season when many companies hold their celebrations. I certainly won't be returning to this establishment and wouldn't recommend it. It's a shame, really, as the food was good.

A great restaurant if you like Czech food. As a fan of the Czech Republic, I always enjoy going there for a nice Czech beer and delicious bread dumplings.

Delicious food in a great atmosphere. If you're ever in Halle and appreciate good, solid cuisine, you should definitely pay this place a visit. High chairs are available. The restrooms are clean. There are special menus and entertainment for children. There's plenty of space, so you probably only need to make a reservation for late evenings.

We visited Restaurant Wenzel and were absolutely thrilled! The goulash was incredibly delicious – tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. It was paired wonderfully with a really good beer. As a fan of the Wenzel Prager Bierstuben (Wenzel Prague beer hall), I wanted to try the place in Halle. I dined there with a friend and took advantage of the birthday special, which included one meal free, a free glass of sparkling wine, and a small beer. As usual, I ordered the large Bohemian knuckle of pork, and my friend ordered the roast beef. The Wenzel knuckle of pork was incredibly delicious, with a subtle hint of caraway and tender meat in a classic dark beer sauce with Bohemian dumplings and my choice of red cabbage. The dish was absolutely filling and, at €22.46 (with a customer card), still justifiable. The roast beef, consisting of two small slices smothered in sauce with dumplings, is really too expensive at €21.75. The service seemed brisk and friendly, and the waitresses and waitresses were quick. The ambiance is very rustic and decorated in an old-Czech style. Unfortunately, the restaurant closes relatively early, so you're asked to pay at 10:30 p.m. Otherwise, I was very satisfied and would gladly return.

We've enjoyed stopping by for a light meal for many years. The menu has been significantly reduced (2), which is where the Wenzel Card comes in. I always eat garlic bread, and I was very displeased to notice that the portions have shrunk considerably. There were always two types of cheese with it, and plenty of them. Now there's another one, and it's very sparing. They've also cut back on the onions and pickles. Overall, it seems like a frigid obsession with saving money has taken hold. What a pity...

The burger was good but unfortunately lukewarm. With the small portion of fries, it was a bit pricey at €22. On the plus side, the homemade mayo was delicious, and the service was good. I'd still go back. 👍

The restaurant impresses with its rustic, traditional ambiance and very polite, prompt service. The service was attentive and friendly, which generally made the experience pleasant. However, given the current economic climate in the restaurant industry, my conclusion is rather critical: The value for money isn't right in my opinion. For the price, you get comparatively little product on your plate. The taste is solid, but the portions are disproportionate to the cost. It's a shame, because the ambiance and service definitely had the potential for a higher rating.

The Wenzel has a very good location in Halle (Saale). It's the best Wenzel I've been to so far. It has the best atmosphere, and the food is delicious.

We had made a reservation for a large group (74 people), but unfortunately, there were only two waiters in the entire restaurant, and we had to wait an hour after our meal for the bill because only one server was allowed to take the payment. It's a real shame, because we had made a reservation in April, when the service could have been adjusted.

The restaurant is very well located and looks very nice. The interior is also okay, a bit rustic but authentic. The service was prompt and attentive. The food was unfortunately relatively expensive for what was offered. The portions are relatively small compared to similar restaurants and the taste is nothing special. The dumplings were the highlight, but without much sauce, they were far too dry. The drink selection is okay and reasonably priced. In conclusion: The restaurant aims to offer something special with Bohemian cuisine, but the (flavorful) quality of the products and the portion size don't justify the prices!

A disaster, Käsespätzle are packet spaetzle with cheese warmed up in the microwave, just dry and the fried onions were really just decoration, disappointing, the omelet wasn't an omelet either. It was eggs beaten with lots of milk and cooked too brown in the oven or under a salamander, the tomatoes were dry, really not recommended. You should think about spending a bit more and the quality would be right. A logo when the waitress clears away even though not everyone has finished eating is disrespectful to the guests.

A traditional restaurant in the heart of the city with all its pros and cons. The Kaiserschmarrn is quite okay (but miles away from the Austrian original), and the burgers with potato buns and dumpling fries (although without cheese) are interesting.

A huge disappointment. The food is excellent, but the prices are a bit high. I've been here often with my family. Today I came alone for lunch, but I was told they couldn't serve me. So it's not worth it to book a table for four by myself, even though 80% of the restaurant was empty. It's a shame, but to be expected in Germany.

We decided on the spur of the moment and without a reservation to get a good, quiet table for two. The ladies serving were very friendly, quick, and competent. The menu isn't too extensive, so there's something for everyone. Taste-wise, we'd give it a 2-3. The price-performance ratio is good.

The waitress felt triggered by me from the start because I asked her to wipe our table. When she came back with a rag and I noticed that there was still dirt on the table from the previous guests, I politely asked her again. She then wiped the table frantically and seemed very annoyed. She didn't thank me for the small tip, or rather, my friend said she said "thank you" very quietly.

We stopped in here spontaneously yesterday, and the atmosphere was quaint. Rustic and beautiful, perhaps a little too dim in terms of the lighting in the dining rooms. Many tables had already been reserved for the evening, but we were lucky and were seated in a friendly manner and served very courteously and politely. The food was delicious; only my tarte flambée was a bit too spicy around the edges, although I couldn't eat the edges. I know, with tarte flambée, you practically have to stand next to it to prevent it from burning ;). Otherwise, we were very satisfied and felt at home. A little tip: the pistachio ice cream is absolutely amazing :). Thanks also to the lovely service yesterday :)

The three of us had something to eat at this location on a Saturday evening at around 9:15 p.m. The first service person served us very friendly and said it was still possible to order something in the kitchen. I had a special style sausage salad with apple. This was very tasty and you can't say anything. The portion was sufficient, but not overly large. However, the other service was very rude. She simply pulled the menu away even though my phone was on it without comment. When I was collecting the money, she just threw the debit receipt at me because I had probably forgotten to give a tip. In addition, no one ever came to our table within 1 hour and asked if everything was OK or if we would like to order anything else. It was only at the end that the rude waitress came and said they were closing at 10:30 p.m. if we would like something more to drink. I saved this as very negative and would therefore no longer visit this restaurant. The prices were already hefty from 0.5 beer to €5.33 or something like that.
