The food was delicious, but the atmosphere wasn't exactly cozy. You were practically sitting in your neighbor's lap.

No seats available, but it looked nice.

Since many tables were reserved, I had to sit at the bar. The beers are Czech, so they're good. The pretzel was fresh, as requested, but the butter inside was cold and hard. The servers were very friendly and efficient. All in all, a pleasant evening.

Today, the two of us went to Wenzels in Dresden. It was our first experience with this franchise, and overall I was satisfied. The only thing to question is the price-performance ratio. Four ready-made dumplings with about 150g of goulash for 20 euros is quite excessive. We'll blame the location, since there are competing restaurants in Dresden where you get significantly larger portions for the same price. Unfortunately, the sauerkraut didn't suit my taste at all; it tasted like the kind you get from a discount supermarket in a bag. My wife liked the salmon, but again, the portion size was rather small for the price. The staff was quick and friendly.

We reserved a table for four, which worked out well. However, we had to wait 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken, and our food order wasn't taken until half an hour after our arrival. We were looking forward to the meal, but unfortunately, the sauce had already developed a skin, and the dumplings were somewhat rubbery and therefore cold. This is very disappointing considering the price. The waiter asked if everything was okay, and when we mentioned our complaint, he simply said, "I'll tell the kitchen." A shame for such a nice restaurant.

The place is okay. The industrial style with the open ceiling is rather unattractive, as the black ceiling blocks out a lot of light. The staff is friendly, but the wait for the food is far too long. It's tasty, and the beer is great too. But it would be nice if the wait weren't so long.

The service was incredibly unfriendly. The place was completely empty, but we weren't served... They clearly don't need the business anymore... It's a shame, really, but there are plenty of alternatives... Anyone wanting a decent meal or a beer isn't welcome here and should find somewhere better.

The food was good, period. The lemonade was delicious. The server didn't ask when our glasses were empty. We had to call out twice, quite firmly. The restaurant was very loud, like a train station waiting room. Would we go again? Maybe in the summer, definitely only outside.

We had a wonderful meal here as part of a birthday celebration. The selection was plentiful. The service was always friendly and promptly responded to special requests. We were invited to a small celebration. For us, fries made with quark dough were something new, and I wasn't sure what to make of them. So, we started with a potato and vegetable salad with meatloaf. It was very good, and the solyanka was also delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. The food and atmosphere were perfect. I can't say much about the prices since I didn't have to pay. For dessert, we had fries with sugar and cinnamon, which were incredibly good. A very good day, great restaurant. We'll be back!

There were five of us for lunch today. Everything was delicious and arrived quickly. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was from the freezer (not freshly prepared). A shame for such a great restaurant.

Cozy and small. The food is, as always, excellent and delicious, just as we've come to expect from Wenzel. The waiters seemed a bit overwhelmed, but still absolutely friendly and professional. We found the chairs very uncomfortable and hard. It's also quite cramped in there. What I really didn't like was the black restroom. Children would be afraid to go in there. I had to accompany my child all the way in.

Yesterday, two of us were there without a reservation. The place was full downstairs, so we were given a "table" at a corner of the bar. When we asked if that was the waiting area or our table, we were simply told, "Your table." When two guests from the upstairs area came over, and we took the opportunity to ask if we could go upstairs, as there was obviously space there, we were suddenly able to go upstairs, and to our surprise, there were three tables upstairs free. I didn't like that, as it seemed like they didn't want to offer these tables. The food—we had burgers—was very good, and the ambiance was nice, too.

Everyone was very friendly and engaging. Once, the chef came out of the kitchen and smiled at us – fantastic. I'm a knuckle expert, and the one they serve here is the icing on the cake! The beer and dessert are also absolutely fantastic! We're so happy to have discovered Wenzel. We had someone with us in a wheelchair. That wasn't a problem. Great! Please keep it up, guys! Delicious food and great staff 👍. What was a bit questionable was that the lower level was completely full, making the noise level enormous, while the upper level was practically empty and the atmosphere for dining would have been much more pleasant. We'd still love to come back. Online table reservations work fantastically and are definitely recommended.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of Dresden, right next to the "Postplatz" tram stop. Delicious Bohemian cuisine with Bohemian beer. The Allgäu beer from my local brewery is still overpriced! Otherwise, good value for money. Unfortunately, you get kicked out at 9 p.m., which isn't so nice. But I'll be back!

Last night, my husband and I visited Restaurant Wenzel. We sat on the terrace, which was full, but the waitress was very friendly and helpful, even though she was very busy and we felt a little sorry for her. My husband and I have worked in the restaurant industry all our lives, so we were put off by the other waitresses drinking and enjoying the sight of this young lady in the empty restaurant. The goulash and cream cheese pudding were good, and we would gladly return. I.S.

The schnitzel I had wasn't even worth a point; it was frozen. I could buy it at Rewe and fry it. It cost €19.

A very good restaurant with delicious food, excellent beer, and incredibly attentive staff. Highly recommended for people with food intolerances. Our child has to follow a gluten-free diet, and in such a case, they provide a special menu where even the child can immediately identify which allergens are found in each dish shows how well this is done. Just ask for this menu, and you'll be surprised. We will definitely be back.

I was there with my family. The server was nice but rarely asked if we wanted anything else. The food was cold and overcooked. And the room was very loud.

I went to the old shop in the Neustadt several times 20 years ago. It was great... I've been to the new shop again now. Unfortunately, the price doesn't match the portion size at all. 6 crumbs of meat in goulash for 20.64... The dumplings were okay... A mini portion of solyanka for 8 euros or so... Please reconsider your pricing policy...

Good Bohemian cuisine at moderate prices

We waited a very long time for food and drinks; half of it was even cold. For dessert, we wanted Kaiserschmarn, which we had to wait more than half an hour for.

We were there on both Friday and Saturday this weekend. And as loyal fans, we have to say – it was appalling. Helpless, seemingly untrained staff managed to go 35 minutes without clearing the empty plates and glasses. Every drink order had to be handed over to the waiters, otherwise they wouldn't respond. And the food, unfortunately, matched the service level. One beer goulash and the other beef goulash were extremely dry, stringy, and sometimes hard to chew. There was far too little sauce, and the dumplings must have been sitting for a while because they were dried out. That's a real shame, because we always chose Wenzel as our first port of call, both in Dresden and in Warnemünde.

Some of the food and drinks weren't available. We were there as part of a larger group. The food is good. The price/performance ratio is okay.

Unfortunately, not my cup of tea. The service wasn't polite, there was no greeting, they simply asked with a grim expression whether you had chosen. The schnitzel with Brussels sprouts and potatoes was at the bottom of my expectations. More breading than meat, the sprouts were very salty, the sauce too, the potatoes were very light (white) and not squeezable for the sauce, as they were a bit too raw. And with a homemade strawberry raspberry lemonade, I simply expect a raspberry or strawberry in the drink, not just a few lime slices with lots of ice. And all that for just under 7 euros. All in all, a visit I don't regret because of the friendly service, but I wouldn't repeat at Wenzel's. My tip: Practice being friendly 😉 And yes, food is a matter of taste.

I'm a big fan of Wenzel in Warnemünde. It doesn't come close to that for me, but it's good. It's a shame they no longer serve the Paprikabierkäse!

I was at Wenzel again. I was craving some delicacies from our neighboring country. This is the place to be. The staff was, as always, very friendly and flexible. I was looking forward to garlic soup, but unfortunately it wasn't on the menu anymore. I went for the delicacies. Baked cheese, potato pancakes, "dumpling fries," salad with cranberries, and tartar sauce. It was a very good combination, along with a good beer 👍 It somewhat softened my initial disappointment about the missing garlic soup. I would still like to see the classic garlic soup back on the menu! Then with or without cheese. Furthermore, it certainly wouldn't be bad to vary the Karlsbader Talern (potato pancakes) a bit. I know the "Sauerkrautpuffer" with bacon and onions!! Highly recommended! I'd love to come back and see how it goes!

We visited Wenzel today! We had dinner here and were able to sit outside in beautiful sunshine. The food was truly delicious. The service was also excellent. A big compliment to the very friendly waiter! We highly recommend this restaurant. We'll definitely be back!

The food, including the ice cream, was excellent; the service was fast and attentive. There is one oddity, though: the outside door opens automatically, but behind it is a door that requires a lot of force to open – it's not wheelchair accessible!

We tried Terence Hill ice cream there for the first time in our lives and were fascinated. It's highly recommended; we'd go back anytime!

Very good food (roast sirloin), everything was excellent. Unfortunately, dessert with pancakes wasn't a typical dish. The music (annoying American) should also be more subdued or more typical of the country.

It cannot be that a restaurant with a lunch menu, that caters to people during their lunch break (with limited time) takes 1 h for food after already taking 20 min before even taking the order. Another thing, a schnitzel cannot cost 31€ and it was not even that good.

The waitress was friendly, but unfortunately difficult to understand. I find the prices significantly too high – a double espresso for €5.30 (as of July 11, 2025) is not reasonable in my opinion. Unfortunately, the food was inedible for me because it was very salty (the gravy). I tried two dishes – both were significantly overseasoned. The potato soup, which I considered more of an appetizer, had too much spice.

Today I had lunch at Wenzel on Postplatz with my colleague. We were thrilled! The shopski salad with chicken breast and the goulash with Bohemian "Knedddel" (a kind of dumpling) were divine. Plus, the super friendly service, pleasant background music, a lovely atmosphere, and, considering the prime location and portion sizes, good value for money. We'd love to come back. And I immediately took advantage of the free kids' meal idea. They really come up with something. Thank you very much :-)

The soup I ordered had salami in it. I do not eat pork ... The menu did not mention that. Normally soups do not have red meat in them. So it is assumed you have chicken broth and at most chicken meat. NO pork ...

We were there one weekday evening with two people and had reserved tables online. The ambiance wasn't particularly pampering, and we would describe it as functional. The staff was very attentive and quick. We found the drink prices a bit too high, but they were probably typical for the area. The food was of very good quality, but unfortunately only lukewarm, which may have been due to the plates not being preheated. Therefore, the prices for the dishes we chose were almost a bit too high. Very borderline. We would choose a different restaurant for our next dinner in Dresden. Not because the Wenzel was bad, but simply because it didn't leave a lasting impression.

(sorry German beer) was told the story about how the American coincidentally 'shared' the same beer name. the Czech food are amazing e spec the bread is soft and goes well if u order any dishes with sauce.

We had dinner today, our order was 2x beef roulade with potatoes and red cabbage - delicious, and 1x burger with bread fries and 1x potato pancakes - also very tasty. The service was very nice and even though the tables were reserved, she took our order. I recommend.

Yesterday we spontaneously went for a beer in Wenzel. We liked it there so much that we reserved a table for today at 6 p.m The beer was delicious, the food was excellent and the waitresses were very accommodating.

I don't understand the very negative reviews - many just seem frustrated and hardly say anything. In some cases, several people from one household even give negative reviews, which gives the impression that they are just dumping frustration. Anyone who writes something like that seems to be very dissatisfied themselves - not just with the pub, but in general. This must be incredibly demotivating for the employees. My experience is completely different: If you address something openly and honestly, you react immediately and look for the best possible solution - because nobody wants guests to leave dissatisfied. We were completely satisfied and would love to come back!

We ate here on April 14, 2025. Everything took a long time and the service seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. However, food was OK. When we received the bill, one lemonade and one meal had been booked too much. The waitress was visibly upset and couldn't apologize or say goodbye. That never happened on Königstrasse. Hello everyone, In March 2024, I reserved a table at Wenzels on Königstrasse for the Christmas party in December. It was only after I asked in the restaurant that I was informed that the restaurant had moved towards Waldschlößchenn. Not feasible for us and a disgrace that the restaurant/operators didn't inform us beforehand. So we had to find another restaurant at short notice. Hardly possible at this time. I didn't want to write a bad review, but today I was at Wenzels am Postplatz and had to wait over 1.5 hours for my food after ordering. Unimaginable in the middle of the city. Thin!

We were there on March 28th, 2025 with a reservation and about 37 people on the 1st floor. Service could be friendlier and quicker. Schnitzel with fries were more like children's schnitzel.

We were there today around 5:20 p.m., unfortunately we didn't have a reservation. Nevertheless, we were offered a table that was only reserved from 7 p.m. The employees here are very friendly, quick and careful. The food was incredibly delicious, we had garlic soup, cream roast beef, smoked knuckle, sauerkraut, red cabbage and Bohemian dumplings. Everything tasted really wonderful. The dark beers and the brewery are also recommended. A Becherovka or other traditional schnapps/liqueur completes the meal 👍🏻

Nice atmosphere, almost like in Prague, menu, beer selection all authentic, unfortunately long waiting time and the waiter wasn't very on his toes, but it was also very full that day, so I'd be happy to go again, but on another day. My recommendation in the city center.

Great food. If you like Bohemian cuisine, you will enjoy it here. Many types of beer from the Czech Republic and Germany.

We got a table right away, even without a reservation. Drinks arrived quickly, but the food took another half hour to arrive. The server said she'd forgotten to pass on our order. No apology... we waited another 30 minutes, and then it finally arrived. Our neighbors had long since finished eating, even though they had ordered much later. What I would have liked was an apology (mistakes can happen) and at least a drink on the house. When paying, I was reminded of the tip... I declined... and the server didn't ask about it either. It's a shame.

Food and service at the table were fine. O. But the reception was extremely unfriendly and overshadowed our memories of the restaurant visit. We had ordered a table for five people for 6 p.m. on March 23, 2025. Due to external circumstances we were there at 5:45 p.m. Although three large tables were already empty and prepared for upcoming guests, the lady at the counter said we had only reserved for 6 p.m. and should take a walk around the house. As we stood still, she asked us to do so several times, while her colleagues politely asked us what they could do for us. But the lady at the counter seemed to be in charge that evening. Finally, around 5:50 p.m., the lady said that we were probably stubborn and reluctantly showed us our table. Luckily we were served by a friendly employee. But we probably won't be returning to Wenzel any time soon.
