Schon mehrmals waren wir im Restaurant Weltwirtschaft im Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Der Service war immer zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Häufig haben wir dort Pizza gegessen. Die verschiedenen Varianten sind geschmacklich sehr lecker. Auch die anderen Speisen sind hervorragend. Zudem schätzen wir das angenehme Ambiente.

Essen unterirdisch, kalte Pizza, matschige Vorspeisen, gibt sich gehobenen Anspruch, der null erfüllt wird. Wirklich traurig für diese coole Location!!!

Unfortunately, the food menu didn't really impress me. The prices also seemed rather high. The drinks were tasty, but they too were quite expensive.

You have to like the "hall-like" atmosphere – we loved it. The pizzas were great too! Attentive, friendly service. Highly recommended!

The service was extremely unfriendly. You have to wait an incredibly long time for your food or drinks, and if you ask for anything, you get yelled at. The food is child-sized and takes forever. It took over two hours for the appetizer, main course, and dessert!

Food was not good, pre-made products were used, portions were small. Service was slow and unfriendly.

I wouldn't go there again voluntarily. I was helping out at an event and got a food voucher. They served baked potato with quark, with either tofu or chicken. It was okay, I suppose. The taste was actually quite good. But the potato was only lukewarm and still far too firm. There was far too little quark; it was too dry after less than half the meal. Drinks had to be paid for separately, which I didn't see the point considering how bad the food was. It's a real shame, because these were things that could easily have been avoided.

We had booked lunch today with some guests from France, a group of about 25 people. The table was set, but then... The drinks arrived rather slowly, but what was much worse was that our organizer only found out after ordering the drinks that they had forgotten our food. Since we only had an hour, they couldn't organize anything in such a short time. What an embarrassing impression on our French friends! So we left without eating. Unbelievable!

Unfortunately, the staff were incompetent and unfriendly. We only wanted an espresso at the bar or at an unreserved table, which was unfortunately impossible :( It's a shame that we still experience such situations these days... Conclusion: not recommended...

A perfect place for a drink by the Spree! It's quiet and cozy inside, and you have a great view outside—one of my favorite spots. The staff are always friendly, which makes the experience even more pleasant. I usually just drink coffee here and occasionally eat a piece of cake; I can't comment on the rest of the food. But last time I was there, I noticed something very positive: around 6–7 p.m., an employee (or manager) threw away a piece of cake because it wasn't fresh anymore. Huge respect for that, as many cafes would still sell it as fresh the next day. Thumbs up for the quality and honesty—definitely one of my favorite spots!

I had a very pleasant evening at the Weltwirtschaft restaurant today. The food was very good, and I especially appreciated the service from the young man who served us. We will definitely be back.

Nice seating by the Spree, shandy on tap, self-service. Inside, a large dance hall, for example, for Dance the Oyster, with unfortunately far too few restrooms for the ladies. Normal downtown prices.

We were here for an event. The ambiance was quite nice, but the barbecue buffet was somewhat poorly organized and very simple. It wasn't really suitable for a larger event. The servers were very attentive, but some didn't know what they were talking about. It wasn't clear what food they were serving, nor what wine. There's definitely room for improvement.

Rude service, little food for a lot of money

Worst, most lackluster, and inaccessible service ever. After sitting for about 15 minutes at a table that hadn't been cleared and was dirty (there were larger tables available, but I find it rude to block them as one person), the waiter circled around me, ignoring me but a) leaving the menu open in front of me b) asking "if I'd like anything" or "if I could clear it now."

Great bar. Waitress accidentally spilled a drink on someone which wasnt an issue, but then asked for a tip 5 minutes later.

No! We were there today. Many waitresses and waiters were busily bustling around, serving guests or setting tables. Except for our waitress, who preferred to stand at the table next to the staff entrance and chat with other women. Even my request at the counter inside the building was unsuccessful, so we left after about 25 minutes. It's a shame, I think things can be improved.

The beer doesn't taste good, is flat, and expensive. There's a two-euro deposit on the glasses. I accidentally left my deposit token there and didn't get the two euros back. Instead, I got a rude comment. Not recommended!

Restaurant and beer garden in the House of World Cultures, with a terrace overlooking the Spree River, near the Chancellery. Good food, friendly service.

Biergarten on the banks of the Spree and near the Chancellery. You order at the kiosk and then sit at one of the many outdoor tables, unless you choose a deckchair, while you wait to pick up your (quite decent) Neapolitan pizza. Casual and friendly, with a mix of shaded and more exposed tables. Service ends around 10:30 p.m., but you can stay until much later, even after closing time.

It could be a nice place, but the service is abysmal. You wait forever and then you're treated rudely. As a guest, you're a nuisance. What a strange concept for a restaurant.

Nice retro restaurant on the Spree. The food was decent. Unfortunately, it was too expensive for the quality. And there was a beehive nearby. The service was poorly organized. On top of that, there were selfish people who constantly interrupted orders and payments.

How can you organize service for people sitting outside so poorly? Order a pizza, wait half an hour to check if it's finally ready. When I asked, the kitchen staff were annoyed, presumably under a lot of stress, and ended up with a nearly cold pizza that had been ready for a while. The drinks went a little better.

They were unfriendly and turned us away straight away, even though everything was available, because they were "understaffed." There were two of us. Friendly doesn't look like much.

We were immediately sent away; there were only two of us. They said there were too many large groups there and they couldn't serve us. I find that pretty silly for two people.

Awful “spritzers” and horrible glass/bottle deposit system. First you queue for drinks, then to return your glasses and bottles. Don’t go here for drinks!!

Beautiful, relaxed beer garden to relax by the water.

I was out to dinner with colleagues and the executive team. The risotto was bland (=unseasoned) and looked "pale." I didn't like it, and it wasn't pleasing to the eye either. Finally, however, the dessert arrived and landed on my right arm and dress (from top to hem 🙈🙈🙈). That can happen, but the way it was handled was abysmal 😵‍💫. The claim regarding liability was completely denied. I was forced to stand in the restroom in my underwear!!! for half an hour and wash out the stains. It was an expensive dress. The evening was completely ruined for me. No staff member was even willing to help or support me. I couldn't possibly wear the wet dress. Help came in the form of a colleague wrestling a T-shirt from the staff. Luckily, I had a short jacket with me. I wore the T-shirt as shorts, so at least I could go home. I would have been entitled to a taxi.

excellent location at Spree river in the centre of Berlin with lovely sunset feeling. nicely designed though worn-out furniture. small tasty food & drink selection at fair prices. extremely badly organised self-service concept with long queues, unexperienced non-professional stressed staff which does not coordinate between each other and with the kitchen. requires a lot of time & patience and self-coordination of customers, hence not really allowing for a chilled and relaxing visit. was there twice in june 2025 on regular days, not during special events.

Long wait for a starter platter and fries, something was missing from the platter. When we asked, nothing was said. Service was inattentive. And a piece of schnitzel was in our fries (we're vegetarians!). We won't be back.

We had dinner with about 40 people at the Weltwirtschaft restaurant and then celebrated at the Ahoibar. Ianthi, Nuri, Ashwin, and their wonderful team did everything they could to ensure we had an unforgettable evening. The service was very warm and everyone accommodated our requests, making all our guests feel very comfortable. You were simply fantastic! Thank you so much!

The atmosphere was great, next to the water and with a spacious outdoor space, but the awnings didn't block out the sun, and I was very bothered by the sun's rays. The food was ordinary, but the restaurant staff was nice and hospitable.

A restaurant without a kitchen. You make a reservation for Friday evening at 8 p.m. and then you get told the kitchen won't be taking orders for an hour. My staff looked at me, staring at me with embarrassment and reproach because I was raving about the global economy. They then drove straight to another restaurant. The global economy is now blacklisted.

Nice atmosphere by the water. The risotto and gnocchi were just okay. The scampi pasta was delicious. The pizza and antipasti were very good. We waited about 45 minutes for the food. The service was very friendly, if a little slow. The prices are a bit high for what you get.

Here you can sit by the Spree and eat and drink.

A very special place in Berlin! The Weltwirtschaft enjoys a stunning location directly on the Spree River, overlooking the Chancellery – a perfect spot for a relaxing break, whether with an afternoon coffee or dinner on the large terrace. The atmosphere is open, international, and pleasantly relaxed – often combined with the HKW's cultural program. The cuisine is creative, seasonal, and diverse: There are vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as classics like Wiener Schnitzel or stone-baked pizza. The daily special with dessert is particularly recommended. The service is friendly, and the clientele is diverse – from culture-goers to relaxed strollers. It's also a relaxing place for small groups or guests with dogs. All in all, a wonderful place to unwind in the heart of Berlin – with style, quality, and a broad perspective.

Given its location, there's really a lot that could be done here, but the staff is completely overwhelmed. Even in the self-service area, everything takes forever, and then there are "little things" like getting the wrong beer, not being able to open a bottle of wine, etc. - it's a real shame.

The disco is a great idea, but unfortunately the music was a disaster. The DJ was only concerned with herself and didn't even notice that more and more people were no longer motivated to dance...what a shame!

A pleasant setting, discovered during a ride along the Spree on an electric scooter. A quick stop for a pizza, not bad at all. A laid-back atmosphere, less touristy than elsewhere.

Pizza Napoli: Tomato? A bit of tomato sauce, mozzarella? Yellowish (analog?) cheese, anchovies? A few tiny pieces (not visible in the picture), capers? A few. The Pear Gorgonzola pizza had even less topping and was bare in places. Service was very inconsistent: sometimes very friendly and engaging. Then there were colleagues who listlessly and without a word "set" the food down on the table. Instead of bringing everyone their food at the same time, we had to wait a long time for each dish, until the first few finally started eating before it got too cold. The value for money service doesn't seem to match.

I'm only referring to the outdoor area! The prices are at the limit, but these days they're normal for these locations in Berlin. There's also a hefty deposit. The queues are annoying and could be avoided if they didn't operate strictly according to stations. The worst part is that when you return your deposit, you have to go back to the back of the queue, just like you did for your first order. Depending on traffic, you have to wait in line again—for me, it took 15 minutes—for your deposit to be returned, and you have to wait patiently. That's €2 for a 0.33 liter bottle. Due to the construction work at the Chancellery, the ambiance isn't as nice as it once was, but that's not the business's fault. The location is still very good. The food is also good and still within the price range for the location. If the deposit return policy changes again, it'll get another star.

It's self-service, but very nice at all stations. They only serve pizza in the beer garden. I don't know if they serve other items in the restaurant. Nice seating by the Spree. Simply great.

Plenty of space for parties, outdoors in the summer and suitable for fewer people.

I was here to dance on May Day. Horrible. The crowds and dancing were almost impossible. If too many tickets were sold and there wasn't enough space...

Despite the construction site being opposite, you can sit nicely in the outdoor area and get good coffee and cake.

Beer garden in a great location, pizza tastes very good. We waited almost an hour in the restaurant for a salad, a soup and a focaccia. Guests who arrived after us received their food orders before us. When we asked, people inquired about the kitchen. The waitress didn't know our order. So this was probably not included. Ultimately we received the salad and soup without the focaccia we ordered.

To return deposit tokens you have to queue again. That's where joy comes.

Weltwirtschaft am HKW in Berlin was the perfect spot to unwind. We stopped for a couple of beers and relaxed, taking in the beautiful surroundings right by the Spree River and next to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. The atmosphere was peaceful, the beer was great, and it was a perfect break to just enjoy the view and the laid-back vibe. A hidden gem for sure if you’re looking for a relaxing stop in Berlin!

The food and service were really great and recommended. We ate pizza there and it was delicious. We would eat there again the next time we visit Berlin. I only deduct a star for the ambience.

I didn't pay €9.70 for a mediocre cake + radler afterwards but €19.70 because of a typo on the machine. Very sloppy.

Das Essen war geschmacklich top und wurde schnell serviert, doch der Service ließ zu wünschen übrig. Bei der Vorspeise wurde weniger gebracht als bestellt, trotzdem der volle Preis berechnet. Beim Hauptgericht erhielten wir anstelle des normalen Risottos die vegane Variante. Obwohl die Karte beide Optionen aufführte, behaupteten zwei Bedienungen, es gäbe nur die vegane – was nicht stimmte und bei diesem Gericht auch nicht wirklich Sinn macht. Der Kellner war unkommunikativ und reagierte auf Nachfragen unfreundlich. Schade, denn mit besserem Service könnte das Restaurant wirklich überzeugen.

If you’re in the area, the HKW is a great spot to grab a drink and enjoy the sunset by the Spree. Not cheap, but a decent selection and fairly good pizza if you want a bite to eat.

It's really expensive in here. The food didn't come together. Only 1 meal came, after 16 minutes the next meal came. Eating together is not possible. The waitress only comes back to the table after 40 minutes to ask if you want anything else. My schnitzel was pounded super thin, which made it look bigger on the plate. If the schnitzel weighed 100g (at all) that is not an understatement. Super expensive schnitzel with a dollop of potato salad, cranberries and lemon 🍋 and 2 tiny anchovies and 5 pieces of carp for €29. You can eat much better somewhere else and have more fair food on your plate. Service was overworked, but still friendly definitely! The atmosphere was beautifully decorated for Christmas! It's not great to be so obviously taken advantage of. It gives a bad impression and aftertaste! Everyone knows that a schnitzel is pounded thin, but the weight and overall appearance for the paying guest should also be the same! You should also think about it as a boss!!!

Worst organized restaurant in Berlin. The owners obviously don't have a clue how to run such a place. It's constantly understaffed, which causes very long waiting times, despite the efforts of the staff (some of which are very tentative and friendly). The food is a roulette game, since most times it's a miss. I would be ashamed to serve such poorly prepared food. And then the prices, which are preposterous when taking in consideration the quality and the size of the portions. I hope they go bankrupt, so someone else takes over, which might happen pretty soon if they keep running the place like this. The pizza is decent though I must admit.
