upscale, but very tasty, staff friendly

Without a reservation, getting a table on weekends is nearly impossible. Thankfully, we were seated at 4:30 pm, where we enjoyed an excellent bottle of wine. The service was very attentive. We will definitely return.

The prices are rather high, the wines are very good, and the food, especially the wild boar sauerbraten, is good but doesn't justify the price! The atmosphere in the side room is rather cold! So, stick to the main room! Overall, satisfactory with plenty of room for improvement!

Very friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. The order arrived quickly, unfortunately too quickly as it turned out. The dishes, lamb loin and two preparations of venison, were okay, but nothing more. The vegetables served with the lamb were delicious, the dumplings with the venison were the complete opposite. We wish we hadn't ordered the dessert selection. A mixed bag for us, but my comment only reflects our personal taste. As you can read here, other guests were quite enthusiastic.

A cozy wine bar with excellent service and very good, fresh, and modern cuisine. The wines are, of course, of the highest quality. They are happy to offer expert advice upon request. Reservations are recommended.

Baked carp was good and interesting! The pumpkin dish was interesting but might be too much for 1 person to finish (at least for 2 Asian girls). Potatoes were fresh and good too.

Very nice overall. The food was very tasty, but a bit overpriced.

We didn't have a reservation, but we were still able to sit outside in the nice weather. We were just informed that the table would be reserved after 1.5 hours. I thought it was very good that they told us right from the start which dishes were no longer available. The staff were very friendly. There was no rush. I'll definitely make a reservation next time.

Classic German dishes (schnitzel!) in a pleasant environment with friendly service. Not cheap.

I was a guest at the Juliusspital at the end of July with visitors from South Africa and England. Based on our reservation, we had a choice between two well-placed tables, one inside and one outside. Since the waiter noticed that I was speaking English to my guests, they were presented with English menus without being asked. Very attentive. The wines were, as expected, excellent (the Silvaner from the Juliusspitalist was not as acidic as other places). The menu offered a balanced mix of regional and seasonal specialties as well as classics (Wiener Schnitzel, etc.). The food was fresh and well-prepared, and served with a friendly atmosphere.

Very good venison steak. Good service. Clean and quiet. We went there to visit the winery on Sunday and found out the winery is closed on Sunday, but the restaurant is open, so we still got to try out their wine. We went there in the afternoon so only a couple customers at that time, no reservation needed.

A wonderful experience in the garden: The knuckle of pork was perfectly crispy roasted, with a delicate sauce, dumplings, and fresh salad – all for a very fair price of €16.50. The service was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and professional. Franconian specialties in a cozy atmosphere – highly recommended. A particularly nice touch: the restaurant's profits go towards the preservation of the historic hospital. A visit is doubly worthwhile!

We spent a very pleasant evening in the wine tavern today, with excellent wine and delicious food. Even though we dropped in without a reservation, just on a whim. The service was very friendly and attentive! It was absolutely worth it!

Today, we ate at the Juliusspital as a family for the first time in a while. There were eight of us, and when the food was served, we were all amazed. Whether fish, meat, or vegetarian, every dish was beautifully presented and a real treat. The service was very attentive and friendly. We'd be happy to go again 😊👍

Good food but the portions are too small for the price.

They were open all day so I was able to have a proper meal even though it was a late lunch. I wanted to try everything on the today's special menu. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was good, and the staff were very friendly.

Very expensive, only for the upper class who aren't hungry. We paid 45 euros for a couple of bratwursts and a couple of Blaue Zipfel with 3 slices of bread for 2 people and 2 bottles of water.

My previous comment was deleted. I filed a complaint. I repeat, the food was inedible; the legendary chicken was dry. The chicken burger was disgusting (the chicken was clearly not fresh). They also brought us a glass of wine with our hair. The waitress walked around with long black hair. I won't be coming back again.

The waiter with the beard and gray hair was very unpleasant. His colleague was very nice. 5 stars for the nice waiter.

The staff is abysmal in some areas. Very unfriendly, especially the older ones. The young waitress was friendly, but otherwise, I've rarely experienced such unfriendly service.

We were greeted by a waiter and I explained we had no reservation, he rolled his eyes and said you can have the table beside the door until 8 p.m. That gave us 1 1/2 hours. It was quiet at that point so our drinks, food ( fish and snitzel) arrived quickly. Food was good with no complaints. Tried to order another wine and a dessert, waited 20 minutes to get the waiters attention and another 20 for the dessert to arrive! He grunted at us several times, saying the restaurant was very busy as if it was our fault. After 1 3/4 hours we finally left (8.15). I nearly always tip but not on this occasion as the service was abysmal, much to the disgust of our waiter who slammed the bill on our table in a hissy fit. Good food, shit service. Employ more staff!

This is a reservation for a wedding party of 15 people. When the bride made her reservation, two tables were discussed to be set up. When we got there there was 1 table, a blackboard. The feedback from the service staff was that it was easier to have a conversation and it was a little more intimate. Space was already tight. When the food came, it got even tighter. A wedding guest complained and told the waiter in charge that he knew the plate size, so you should see and know that the space at such a table is too small. Waiter had no desire to discuss, let alone offer a solution. Three people then moved to the neighboring table that was still free. This means that those sitting at the table have enough space. Then the guests sitting on the bench would all have to get up if someone had to go to the toilet because everything was very tight. During the meal or afterwards, no one was seen by the service staff and asked if anyone else had a request. When I asked why no one was coming anymore, the only answer was that this room/space was only reserved until 7 p.m. So say we should go then. What kind of service is this? How can you dump a wedding party like that? Very rude. The only plus point of this place is the delicious food and the timely service. But nothing else. There was no separate room, it was just a small partition. When we wanted to speak to the boss, the answer was that he was in a meeting. At 7 p.m. So not recommended as a wedding party.

Very rustic, uncomfortable chairs. Service was a bit too much like a student bar, very impatient (quickly became rude because the card machine wasn't working properly, but the blame was placed on the guest). Prices are too high for the quality received (the meat dish didn't even come with a small salad for 23 euros, some of the fries were still half raw). If you don't drink wine, you have to listen to stupid sayings. Food selection is rather rustic (vesper plate, brawn, goulash). We won't go there anymore.

Wir haben hier wirklich sehr gut gegessen. Qualität der Speisen ist sehr gut und die Portionsgröße reichlich. Leider war eine gewählte Hauptspeise nicht verfügbar ;) - der gewählte Ersatz jedoch sehr gut. Es gibt eine tolle Weinauswahl von hauseigenen Weinen. Unser Bedienung war wirklich super freundlich und zuvorkommend und die empfohlenen Weine Top! Wir kommen sich wieder und können diese Weinstube nur empfehlen.

Always an experience but it's better to reserve in advance

We were there with 10 people for a wine tasting. There were 6 different wines and a snack plate. How and why and how much was explained wonderfully about each wine. Really very interesting. We were all enthusiastic about the Juliusspital concept. Drinking wine takes on a completely different meaning. Many thanks to the great staff and the lovely evening.

not speaking about the dishes, the tastes... because I didn't get any... although I tried for 2 days in a row. Opening hours totally different from what website says. 1st time arrived 1,5 hours before website closing time info (earlier I was calling... but nobody was andwering) - they were already closing... ok, so, on next day, I called again and got info that you can order meals up to about 10 pm, I arrived 9:20 and ...was told that virtually no dishes are served except for some with "moon" mark in the menu. I ordered a pair of Wurste (simple as that), but... the waiter came again saying they don't have even that (can you believe that? In the middle of Bayern/Franken!?!?), and they didn't have anything warm. I had some sort of cheese (sort of good perhaps but I was hungry so don't know for sure), the only thing that seemed to save the day was a glass of a Weißer Burgunder - Volkacher Karthäuser (after glasses of Sylvaner and Riesling), but... the waiter came asking to pay the bill and - you can't imagine - also for a tip.. after all the stuff he was not helpful with 🤦‍♂️ A tip for what?? For spoiling my evening dinner?? Because it was really simply spoiled. I could have gone elsewhere (but hoped for a fish there) and was cheated, first - about how long the kitchen is really open, then about what dishes are available (in the meantime I ordered already wine and beer- and was left with that and no food that I just ordered). After all, well, also the bottled beer was too warm....

Taste good, above average. Mashed potatoes good, Brussels sprouts boring. Price/performance is still okay, you often have to pay more for quality these days. The rabbit comes from a northern German island, not from the Spessart, and was thawed. The sauce was forgotten but added later. I would come back, but I think that the food in the Würzburg area is better and cheaper.

Wir waren gestern in den Juliusspital Weinstuben zum Essen. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Essen, Suppe und Hauptgericht (Karpfenfilet), war sehr lecker, reichlich, heiß und schön ausdekoriert. Wir waren mehr als zufrieden und freuen uns auf den Sommer und die sehr schöne Außenanlage

We were at Juliusspital on November 2nd, 2024. As always, very nice Franconian atmosphere. The service is on point, you can get into conversation quickly and easily. The food is very good (unfortunately the portions were manageable on this day). Of course good wines - the bottle still has 0.25 liters and is affordable. Due to the good atmosphere and the quality of the food, we absolutely recommend it. If you are in Würzburg, then a visit to the Juliusspital is a must for us.

The location is very attractive and the food was tasty but the quantity was a bit too little. In terms of price, a non-alcoholic beer (330ml for €5.60) is far too expensive, especially since it came from a bottle. The waiter was very helpful and attentive. Overall average and a bit too little for the prices.
