Very nice atmosphere and service also very good. Food ok. I expected more. I'm not a big eater but I was glad I had some soup ahead of time. I was really looking forward to Kaiserschmarrn, unfortunately it was only available for two people. At the same time, I noticed that once two hours had passed, you weren't really being served. We ordered the latest table at 8:15 p.m. to eat in comfort, but oh well. And the prices are pretty steep.

The Backöfele is a super cozy Franconian restaurant, in the middle of Würzburg and yet somewhat hidden in a side street. The entrance through the gate and the first view of the covered courtyard are worth a visit. This was our second time here, we had reserved and were given a very warm welcome. The apple and horseradish soup was a delight. The Schäufele was super juicy and the crust was nice and crispy. My wish to have red cabbage as a side dish instead of sauerkraut was accepted with a certainty that thrilled me. The young lady in service then seduced us with a conspiratorial smile to try the eggnog mousse with raspberry sauce - delicious! The Backöfele - always worth a visit!

Amazing selection of dishes and best service. We were delighted with the whole experience and would definitely recommend it to vegetarians. 10/10!

Quaint restaurant with an ancient “yard” or similar where you can dine. Tables and benches match the ambience, some with a slight slant. The pleasant little light comes from candles and a few old lamps. You almost feel like you've been transported to the Middle Ages. The service is great. The food wasn't perfect, but it was very tasty.

Good address with delicious food. I had schnitzel with salad; But I missed the promised potato salad. 😉 Good Hefeweizen on tap. It is advisable to reserve in advance. As a solo guest, I was ignored for a long time when tables were allocated.

The most impressive thing for us was actually the “layout” and the incredible coziness. Absolutely recommended in Würzburg. (Be sure to call first!)

We were here as a group of meat eaters and vegans. The food was extremely good for everyone! It is understood here that vegans not only want to eat salad, but also like to eat good, home-style food! The nut roast is sensational! The other vegetarian/vegan options also sounded very good! We'll definitely be back! A small point of criticism, the vegan gravy could be a little spicier and richer! But it was 100% homemade and not a finished product! Ambience and service were 10 out of 10!

I trusted the positive reviews and was unfortunately disappointed. The ambience is super nice, rustic and atmospheric. Unfortunately, the food wasn't my cup of tea at all: the chestnut soup was too sweet, the potato salad was very margarine-heavy and some had raw potatoes. The horseradish sauce in the wedding dish tasted bitter. The service varies depending on the person from very good to okay. Too bad. The atmosphere and furnishings of the restaurant are really fantastic, the food is absolutely great and the service is very friendly and accommodating. We felt absolutely comfortable right from the start and will definitely be back soon!

We had a cozy dinner with 13 people including 1 wheelchair user. The starter was already ready, drinks were served quickly, main courses and dessert were very large portions, but very tasty. Very friendly service, cozy atmosphere, price/performance impeccable. Recommendation

Visit there was a flop, service less customer oriented, food was also to be desired, overrated! Unfortunately I can't recommend it🤷

The atmosphere in the Backöfele is, as always, extremely appealing. The cozy and stylish interior creates a welcoming atmosphere in which you can look forward to a good meal. Unfortunately, this time our visit did not live up to the expectations we have of a restaurant of this class. Two of the three dishes ordered were served lukewarm or cold. The handling of the Cordon Bleu was particularly disappointing: after the complaint, the same food was brought back to us, but the fried potatoes were cold again. Even after a third attempt, the dish was just reheated instead of freshly made. At a restaurant like Backöfele, I would have expected the dish to be completely new and carefully prepared. The Kaiserschmarren, which has always been a highlight, was also partially cold this time. Normally it is served fresh and warm, which unfortunately wasn't the case this time. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and the handling of complaints did not justify the high prices that evening. I very much hope that this was an exception and that the service and cuisine can return to the usual quality next time. It would be nice if the restaurant took this criticism to heart, because the potential and quality so far deserve to be continued.

I was born in Würzburg and have eaten here many times. Hence the anticipation that we will be going to the Backöfele during our home visit this year. Unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for the starter, which didn't come - was it forgotten?! or simply the main courses were already brought to the table. There was no apology etc. Unfortunately, the food was nothing special and at a price of almost 30 euros it was absolutely not justified. I asked for a soup and a main course “to go” and was told that if I didn't have a container for soup with me, it wouldn't work. When I then said, OK, I'll just have the main course, it was brought to me 5 (!!!) minutes later, wrapped in paper and therefore completely soggy before I had even left the restaurant. For dessert, I asked for a cappuccino with milk alternatives and was looked at as if I was asking for kryptonite. We are in 2024, a cow's milk alternative is not rocket science. Not even in Würzburg! All in all, the evening was an unsatisfactory experience!

We received a warm welcome, even though we were a little early and our table wasn't ready yet. However, that wasn't a problem because we discovered the beautiful, hidden bar inside the restaurant - a real eye-catcher! The drinks menu is extensive and leaves nothing to be desired. After about 15 minutes of enjoying our drink in peace, we were escorted to our table. And what followed was simply extraordinary! This economy is truly something special. The food is on another level – incredibly delicious and prepared with so much love. We travel from Ingolstadt specifically just to dine here. The Kaiserschmarrn is an absolute highlight! The service was also excellent: always friendly, attentive and with a charming dose of humor. An all-round successful experience that we would repeat at any time!

We managed to get a table without a reservation. The food was authentic and very tasty. We particularly liked how confidently allergies and intolerances were dealt with. The warm and attentive service from waiter Jan rounded off the positive experience!

We were looking for a rustic place to eat and with Backöfele we made the best decision ever. The ambience on site was really nice and the service was really courteous and nice! The food was delicious and we were very full. I would advise making a reservation as it was very busy in the evening. All in all it was a lovely evening and I can only recommend the restaurant! The ambience is extremely enchanting, the covered, historic inner courtyard in particular really makes an impression and is therefore perfect as a tourist destination to stop off. The operators and staff are courteous, very professional and are open to special concerns and have the motivation to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Seats should be reserved, especially on weekends at lunchtime and in the evening, as the rush is quite large. The food is extremely good and the price is fair, but the drinks could be a little better. Nevertheless - more than deserved - 5 stars.

Traditional Franconian restaurant. We didn't have a reservation but still got a spot. Reservations are recommended during peak times. We had the Schäufele and were thrilled. Meat was crispy, very tasty sauerkraut and dumplings. There's even extra sauce. Smooth beer and delicious fruit brandies rounded everything off. We would have to share the very tasty apple cake😉 The bill is certainly a bit more expensive, but it was worth it. Very nice and quick service. Gladly again.

Lovely family experience: the table service was excellent and the cuisine was really top notch. The waitress who took care of us was very friendly and fast. The dishes, copious and well cooked, are flawless. Small downside when we arrived when we were received by a waiter who was visibly annoyed that we were in the passage in the middle of service: we arrived on time and our table was not ready. Or could we wait since the restaurant was full? Finally, very high prices (fortunately it’s good)

The pub is okay, nothing special. Franconian cuisine is disproportionately expensive to the abundance of plates. The place is crowded, but there are plenty of tables and there is a chance to get a seat. The dishes arrive shortly after ordering.

Because of the positive internet reviews, we chose the Backöfele and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere and furnishings of the restaurant are really fantastic, the food is absolutely great and the service is very friendly and accommodating. We felt absolutely comfortable right from the start and will definitely be back soon!

Extremely good restaurant, found it spontaneously and asked if there was room for two people for dinner. Drinks came quickly, food came hot and quickly. The Cordon Bleu was well filled with a delicious cheese. The potato salad was absolutely perfect. The onion braise was buttery soft, the dumplings had a perfect consistency and the sauce completed the dish - It was absolutely delicious and praiseworthy. The waiters were all attentive, competent and quick. A young gentleman with golden curls looked after us at the table; he was quick and courteous. The evening's praise goes to him for the service.

A quaint restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. The price level is reasonable, but the Backöfele is not cheap. The portions are generous. We had perfectly served asparagus with zander and potatoes as well as Schäufele. The sauerkraut was extremely good, not too sweet and not too sour. The dumplings were also very tasty. The meat too. We would stop at the Oven again, especially since they serve something to eat quite late.

We were a group of 14 people. The food was very tasty, and the vegetarian nut roast was also sensational.

Seat in the middle of the flight path. Uncomfortable sitting with 20-30 people standing next to you waiting to get in. Uncomfortably dark and loud. Food itself was completely ok.

I can't judge the food, it didn't even get that far. We wanted to reserve a table for 2 3 days ago, the friendly employee on the phone told me that everything was already full. But if we get past the off-peak times it works, no one is sent away hungry. When we arrived today at 5 p.m.!!!! We were turned away immediately because we didn't have a reservation - some of the tables were still free for at least 2 hours. I just find this inflexibility terrible, that's why this rating is given. Customer service is just as important as anything else!

Delicious food. Had a complaint about an insert. It was replaced without any problems and as compensation there was a dessert (Kaiserschmarrn) for 3 people for free, as well as an apricot for each (there were 8 of us). Service was very attentive even though it was busy. It was a great evening

With our own 30 years of catering experience, here are a few points: 1. Reservation possible for only 2 hours. 2. Calculation of turkey steak and cordon bleu should be reconsidered. 3. Potato cookies were served frozen on a hot plate. The entire table received a schnapps, the manager made the selection. 4. The consistency of the hollandaise sauce was like cooled vanilla pudding, flavored too lemony. 5. The liver dumplings from the soup were not gray (like boiled liver) but cream-colored like marrow dumplings and tasted like that. 6. The cordon bleu was dry, still edible. 7. A colleague wanted to buy a round of drinks, was rejected by the waiter and could not be billed. 8. The General Terms and Conditions...: Individual billing is not possible for groups of 8 or more. We were 7 people. I argued about it with the manager until we both raised our voices and then did the individual billing myself. My personal conclusion: 1st visit about 3 years ago, everything was fine. 2nd visit yesterday, November 29th, nothing was wrong. There will no longer be a third visit. There's another way to feel good and leave your money there at overpriced prices.

Das Backöflle kann man nur empfehlen einzige ist es ist etwas laut im Hauptsaal. Die Einrichtung ist sehr urig und wunderschön und das Essen war sehr lecker allerdings manche Portionen vielleicht einen Tick klein.

Quaint inn near the old town. The restaurant was very busy and a reservation is recommended. The place is super dark and feels lit by candles. Reading the map was a bit of a challenge. The service is friendly and on the ball. The food was tasty and the quantity was okay. The selection is okay, but it didn't make me that happy. A warm side dish would be nice with the schnitzel. Conclusion: gladly again....

28€ für ein Scheuferla ohne Salat ist schon krass. Würde nichts sagen wenn es auch nach 28€ geschmeckt hätte. Aber die angebliche Biersoße hat nach garnichts geschmeckt und des Scheuferla war furz trocken. Das ganze wurde mir erstattet da ich es zurück gegeben habe. Sonst gab es nichts zu beanstanden.

We had dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Once I stepped in, I was amazed by the ambient temperature, lighting and the setting. My German boyfriend introduced me to some traditional German food and they were super yummy. We didn't book a table and it was a Friday night. We were lucky to have a table for almost 1.5 hours and the service crew were very friendly! I will definitely come back again before I go back to Malaysia.

We went to the Backöfele three times during a week-long stay. The atmosphere, the food and the lovely staff impressed us on our first visit. All of our visits were spontaneous and without reservations. Even on Saturday evening they tried to offer us a place despite the full restaurant and it even worked. Thank you for that! That was our last evening in Würzburg and we were happy to be able to end it with you. I was very enthusiastic about the nut and lentil roast - finally a hearty, delicious vegan dish in the style of home cooking. We can also highly recommend the Kaiserschmarrn! We felt very comfortable there.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant, mit sehr gutem Essen und einem aufmerksamen Service. Zu bemängeln ist lediglich, dass unsere Gruppe von 5 Personen nach 2 Stunden gehen musste. Wir wären sehr gerne noch geblieben und hätten sicherlich noch Nachtisch und die eine oder andere Flasche Wein getrunken.

This is one of the best restaurants I've been to. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. When we wanted a little more sauce, we got it straight away. Kassler and the turkey steak were very well prepared and harmonious with the side dishes. We also had 2 light thistle houses and iced tea from a brewery. Afterwards there was caramelized Kaiserschmarrn for 2 people. The menu says: min 30 min preparation. But it was much quicker and it was very, very tasty. Unfortunately I'm not from the corner and I'll miss it... Very nice restaurant, hopefully we'll come by again.
