Great wine, great cheese, great service!

Very nice place and very good wine. The bartender was super friendly even though we arrived just before closing time.

We were there at the end of the day. The owner was super friendly and the location was cozy. The wine was also delicious, and they had a good selection and provided good advice.

On a warm summer day, we were privileged to visit the Witter wine bar – and it was an absolutely wonderful experience that indulged all the senses. Upon arrival, you are greeted by the cozy, almost Mediterranean atmosphere of the charming courtyard. Surrounded by ancient walls and lovingly decorated tables, you immediately feel at home – like in a small oasis in the middle of the old town. The service was warm, attentive, and professional from the very beginning – without being intrusive. Our waitress took the time to recommend a wine, charmingly explained the daily menu, and was happy to accommodate special requests. You immediately sense the passion that goes into the work here. We also enjoyed a selection from the excellently curated wine list, which offers many regional wines from the Palatinate and Baden regions. The Riesling we were recommended was perfectly chilled and went perfectly with the meal. What was particularly nice: As the sun slowly set, candles were lit on the tables, creating an even more atmospheric setting. We wished the evening could have lasted forever – and we did, too, with a glass of Pinot Noir and a homemade dessert. Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back!

We didn't try the food. But we've stopped by here several times for a nightcap and were extremely satisfied. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the guests were all exceptionally nice. Therefore, we highly recommend it!

Belle découverte que cet endroit au charme feutré à l’écart du brouhaha du centre-ville. Très bon vin et flamekuches délicieuses pour l’accompagner. Patron très sympathique qui a révisé son français pour nous. Excellente playlist d’ambiance.

I ordered a glass of wine and olives with bread. The wine came quickly, the olives only after insisting and waiting half an hour. Olives from a supermarket jar with clumsy skewers. Too bad, the service was friendly and at this location you can make something beautiful out of it.

Update as of July 4, 2025 (pending) We want to give the wine bar another chance soon. Our originally well-documented but negative review was not published, which we also found a bit odd. Anyway, it's been three years now, and we want to see if the service has become friendlier and will publish another update then. Update as of October 22, 2022 (shortened by us and increased to 3 stars, as Google no longer seems to allow negative reviews) So, what would we expect from good service? A good service at a wine bar is attentive and courteous, and cares about the guests. The opposite would be someone who is fiddling around on their phone behind the bar or otherwise constantly preoccupied with something else, almost to the point of ignorance. It's also desirable for a service staff member to be friendly, simply to make the guest feel comfortable. If a guest has a comment or a question, you shouldn't ignore it with offense or even rudeness. And speaking of wine bars: the minimum standards also include dried and polished glasses. But perhaps I'm expecting too much. I won't go into further detail here. ____________________ Our favorite place in Heidelberg. Great, delicious wines, especially the Sauvignon Blancs (they also have fine red wines), fresh tarte flambée, a feel-good atmosphere, and then there's lovely Kristina with her unique sense of humor – it's simply lovely here. We go there about every two weeks and are already looking forward to the next time. Update February 15, 2022 Unfortunately, the Witter is still closed due to the coronavirus, but is scheduled to reopen in March. We can hardly wait, or rather, the whole family can. :)

Fantastic wine and the best tarte flambée

Tolle Weinstube! Einfach mal 100 Meter weiterlaufen und abseits der Touristenströme gemütlich sitzen und genießen. Historisches Flair, leckere Kleinigkeiten, große internationale Weinauswahl Vorher Oliven, dann Flammkuchen (verschiedene Sorten).

Such a beautiful wine bar completely lined in wood. The tenants haven't had this for very long, but it seems that a clientele is slowly emerging that keeps coming back and feels at home there. Nice people, great atmosphere and great wines!

Fine wines and very nice service. The long opening hours make it the ideal place to eat after eating in a restaurant or after an evening event. If you're still hungry you can treat yourself to tarte flambée and small. Provide snacks.

I always enjoy coming there. The menu (there is tarte flambée and olives) and the wine list are perhaps a bit too manageable. But the sommeliers are super nice. Prices are moderate in August 2024. Due to its location - a few steps away from the tourist crowds - it remains an 'insider tip'. P.S. The steps at the entrance make access a bit difficult for wheelchair users.

An absolute recommendation for wine lovers and connoisseurs! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Weinstube Witter in Heidelberg and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, just the right place to spend a cozy evening. I would particularly like to highlight the fantastic service Franzi. She really sweetened our evening with her warm and attentive manner. Franzi is not only incredibly friendly, but also very competent and gave us excellent advice on the wine selection. Your recommendations were absolutely spot-on and fit our preferences perfectly. The combination of great wines, excellent service and the cozy atmosphere makes Weinstube Witter a real insider tip in Heidelberg. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and can only warmly recommend this wine bar!

It was a very nice evening here! We actually just wanted to look at the wine list outside and started talking to the owner (?), who was working on the display case. She was able to explain to us well why there was so little demand for sweet wines and was very personable. We then felt very welcome and didn't feel pressured to stop here at all, because she gave us this nice information when we were still passers-by and not yet guests. One more reason to enter the restaurant. It is old-fashioned and cozy, but not too crowded, just so that you feel comfortable there. We were the first guests at this time, so we were able to enjoy the quiet atmosphere. As the evening progressed, the restaurant continued to fill up with pleasant guests at other tables. Of course we ordered the sweet wine that we had already talked about and even got a little more knowledge about how it is made, which was very interesting. The cheese plate (only soft cheese) was very tasty, as was the tarte flambée and of course the wine (a selection from Germany). The wines on the menu are listed by region. The service was good and friendly. We really felt very comfortable and will come back next time we are in Heidelberg.

We happened to find this place, the food and service was excellent. Rudy was playing the piano and the atmosphere was fun. Our family highly recommends coming here.

Τυπικό γερμανικό bar. Ξύλο στα τραπέζια, καρεκλες, τοίχους. Ήπιαμε το κρασί της περιοχής Riesling. Δυνατό σε βαθμούς. Φάγαμε ένα πλατω τυριών. Δύο διαφορετικές ας πούμε πίτσες. Με πολύ λεπτή και τραγανή ζύμη. Όμορφα όλα. Φιλικός ο κύριος που σέρβιρε, μαγειρευε, έπλενε ποτηρια.

Quiet guy at the bar but he really knows his wines. The flammkuchen he serves are also amazing and work very well with the wine. The bar itself dates back several centuries.

Nach jahrelanger Schließung und kurzem, unerfreulichem Zwischenspiel als "Rouge" jetzt wieder altdeutsche Weinstube. Gemütliches Ambiente mit alter Einrichtung, sympathischer Service und gute Weine zu akzeptablen Preisen.

Uriges, kleines Weinlokal mit tollen Weinangeboten. Die Flammkuchen waren ausgezeichnet. Auch der junge Mann im Service war sehr freundlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt.

Hier findet sich eine sehr urige Weinkneipe bzw. Weinkeller. Von innen wie von außen mit dem Charme der alten Zeit. Inklusive epochaler alter Möbel. Eine Zeitmaschine!

Sehr schönes Ambiente alles sehr alt aber sehr gemütlich aber was gar nicht geht ist das das Personal nach der Bedienung sich in eine Ecke setzt und mit dem Handy am hum machen ist während die Gäste im Gastraum sitzen geht garnicht sonst sehr gemütlich und sehr zu empfehlen

Best place in Heidelberg for wine and cheese! Staff is super friendly and helpful with the wine and let’s you try before choosing. The interior is wonderfully 18th century which makes the atmosphere lovely and jovial. There are also great sun spots outside for that afternoon glass. Prices are good too. If you’re in Heidelberg you have to go!

Etwas abgelegen von den Touristenströmen liegt diese kleine Weinstube. Hier kann man bei einem oder zwei oder sogar drei Gläschen Wein und einem Flammkuchen wunderbar abschalten.
