Unfortunately we didn't like anything here. There were 5 of us in total and unfortunately everyone was disappointed. Neither the service, the ambience nor the food were convincing.

It was the best restuarant I went in Germany trip. Wish I had one more chance to visit there. Loves the atmosphere and the food of course. The combination of garlic schnitzel and mushroom noodles is amazing❤️ It was the best!!!!!!!

Very special place: unpretentious, you might be asked to share a table with other guests. Food is absolutely delicious and huge portions. Loved it !

Τα πιάτα τους ήταν μέσα στα 5 καλύτερα που έχω γευτεί σε όλη μου τη ζωή σε όλες τις χώρες που έχω ταξιδέψει (15) πραγματικά ευγενικό προσωπικό με χαμόγελο και όρεξη να μας βοηθήσουν λόγω μωρού σε καρότσι ! Ναι πολύ μικρό μαγαζι και κάθεσαι μαζί με άλλους ( εμείς όχι ) αλλά κάνουν το καλύτερο δυνατό! Αυτά !

Situado en el centro de la ciudad vieja debió ser una carpintería. Es muy pequeño, muy bien decorado, con ambiente auténtico y mesa compartida. La comida no era tan buena, pero no tengo una opinión fiable porque no me gusta tanto la carne. El schnitzel de pimienta estaba delicioso, me dijeron. No lo recomiendo si vas a comer solo una vez en Heidelberg.

As soon as we entered the shop the girl greeted us very warmly and kindly... then we went to a very beautiful place that reminded us of our childhood years 🙏🙏🙏 ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ then we got the amazing huge schnitzels which were very tasty yummy!!! Thank you very much, we'll be back soon!!!

This is THE place for authentic German food in Heidelberg. I visit Heidelberg every other year, and Weinstaube Schnitzelbank is hands down the best, classic German cuisine restaurant. It’s cozy, has amazing/attentive service, and in my opinion takes the holy grail of schnitzel in Heidelberg. It’s a very small establishment so try to get a reservation or be prepared to wait. Be patient because it actually is worth it. Also, if you show up early before opening, make sure to WAIT until it is the actual opening time. Coming in early before opening time isn’t polite. This is a gem of a spot. Communal tables and tight quarters with authentic, “made with love” quality food.

We went there on a Friday evening, without a reservation. -there was a line out on the street - but they took good care of us and let us order a beer while waiting, and we had a table within half an hour. Food was good and I really enjoyed the "Spaetzle" (German noodles). Service was good and quick and I could pay with card.

Typical place for dinner. You share a table with local people. A very interesting experience. The breaded pork, cordon bleu type, was very delicious. Just like the salad. And they have a great variety of wines. The only bad thing was the onion soup. Avoid her.

If you’re looking for a true taste of Germany, this restaurant is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with rustic wooden tables, soft lighting, was giving cozy and perfect on a cold night. The staff were very friendly and charming! Spoke English wonderfully as we do not speak German and were always very attentive. We emailed them for a reservation about 3 weeks out and they replied the next day. I cannot stress enough to get a reservation. We saw many people turned away because they were packed on a Sunday night. The food was delicious with very generous portions, we could not finish. 100% get the garlic bread as an app! We will be making this a stop every time we are in Heidelberg!

I like being here :) if schnitzel is in HD, then here. The creamed savoy cabbage is fine. I like that tables are shared and guests aren't thrown out after a 2 hour concept. The air can be very stuffy when you come in from the freshness. Ps. Don't dress too warmly :)

Regionale Deutsche Küche, herzhaft lecker ere Fleischgerichte in schönen großen Portionen. Ambiente Uhrig auf stabilen Holzbänken an ebensolchen Tischen. Telefonische Reservierung ist zu empfehlen! Gängige Kreditkarten bzw. EC Karten werden akzeptiert. Ein Kleinod inmitten der Heidelberger Altstadt.

Place is incredible. Took a chance to go here at dinner time near to Christmas to see if we could get a table wo a reservation and we got lucky! Service was great! The Gorgonzola Schnitzel was amazing. The Garlic Schnitzel was incredible. Highly recommend!

One of the best schnitzels I've ever had. The portions are huuuuge and the atmosphere is almost a bit tavern-like - rustic and cozy. The owners are jovial and welcoming and the place is an all-round good mood. The liquor they serve was also very nice. Would highly recommend stopping by if you're in Heidelberg and want to try some hearty German food.

I can't emphasize enough how impressed I am with this restaurant! It is the perfect place for all schnitzel lovers because here you can find the best crispy schnitzel I have ever eaten. As soon as I enter I am greeted by a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. The menu offers a great selection of different schnitzel variations, but I opted for the classic crispy schnitzel. It was freshly made and perfectly golden brown. The first bite was to die for! The schnitzel was wonderfully crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Accompanied by a great side dish, such as the spicy potatoes, it was a real taste experience. The homemade sauce that is served with it also complements the dish perfectly. The portions are generous and the price is more than fair for the quality you get here. The service was attentive and professional, which completed the entire experience. If you're looking for a great restaurant where you can enjoy the best crispy schnitzel, you've come to the right place. I can't wait to come back and try more of this delicious cuisine!

Hello, The food at the restaurant is truly excellent. I highly recommend it to everyone. I had the Turkey schnitzel, and my friend had the à la maison. I can say that we were completely full. However, I would like to point out one thing. When we arrived at the venue, it was 16:58. Since the door was open, we entered the hall. As we didn’t have a reservation, we wanted to ask if it was possible to dine without one. However, the staff member did not approach us in a very friendly manner. They asked how we had entered. The opening hours were written in German on the door, and since we do not speak German, we were unaware. Because we arrived two minutes early, they moved us back outside without answering our question. They could have kindly said, “We can accommodate you, but the restaurant officially opens at 17:00, so we can only seat you then.” Additionally, if such a rule exists, they should not leave the door open. I wanted to share this as feedback.

Quaint restaurant, best service. Real food and drinks.

The schnitzel with peppercorn sauce was one of the best meals I had during my family’s trip to Heidelberg. The service and atmosphere were outstanding. If you have a smaller group you may end up sitting with others at one of the community tables. I highly recommend you check out the Schnitzelbank!

The location was very rustic and cozy, but unfortunately there isn't much space so sometimes you have to do table sharing. For me it was an extremely unpleasant situation that I luckily didn't have to deal with. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food came quickly and was very good, great quality, great taste, absolutely recommended.

probably the best Schnitzel in Heidelberg! but the place convinces not only with the traditional and delicious food but with a cozy and a all in all unique atmosphere. The service is also kind and attentive. The restaurant is THE place to go for anyone who visits Heidelberg as a foreign tourist but also for everyone who’s regularly in Heidelberg or recently moved here. My recommendation is: just go there and experience it! You won’t regret it :))

The restaurant was an overall pleasant experience. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy, although the noise made it seem a bit uneasy. However, the food was very tasty and a definite plus. The service was OK, although not outstanding. I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance as it is quite popular and it may be difficult to get seats spontaneously.

Portions are well worth the money, so big I had to save half !! Authentic German restaurant. I would return again and again. We loved it so much. Wir waren vor Jahren noch beim alten Besitzer dort und es war sehr lecker und das Personal sehr freundlich. Jetzt wollten wir als Heidelberger erneut einen Tisch reservieren und tagelang hat leider niemand am Telefon abgenommen!!! Leider telefonisch nicht zu erreichen. Nur Anrufbeantworter!!! Eine Nachricht konnte man leider nicht hinterlassen. Weder zu den Öffnungszeiten noch am späten Abend, wie auf dem AB empfohlen. Selbst auf meine E-Mail kam keine Antwort!! So sind wir am letzten Sonntag vor 18 Uhr spontan hin. Es gab noch wenig freie Plätze. Doch für vier Personen sei kein Platz und ob wir reserviert hätten….. Die Art und Weise, wie uns der junge Mann (wohl eine Mitglied der Familie, die die Schnitzelbank jetzt betreiben) angegangen ist, war mehr als unverschämt und wir sind richtig erschrocken, in welchem Ton er mit uns geredet hat. Der Appetit ist uns vergangen und wir können dieses Restaurant absolut nicht empfehlen. Keine Empfehlung für Heidelberg!!! Um die Ecke ist aber das Essighaus, wo wir freundlichst nach kurzer telefonischer Reservierung (Top) herzlich empfangen wurden und sehr lecker gespeist haben. Vielen Dank Schnitzelbank für nichts!!!

We were there years ago with the old owner (Hans T.) and it was very tasty and the staff was very friendly. Now, as Heidelbergers, we wanted to reserve a table again and unfortunately no one answered the phone for days!!! Unfortunately not reachable by phone. Answering machine only!!! Unfortunately you couldn't leave a message. Neither during opening hours nor late in the evening, as recommended on the AB. There was even no response to my email!! So we spontaneously went there last Sunday before 6 p.m. There were still few free places. But there was no room for four people and whether we had reserved... The way the young man (probably a member of the family who now runs the schnitzel bank) approached us was more than outrageous and we were really shocked by the tone in which he spoke to us. We've lost our appetite and we absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant. No recommendation for Heidelberg!!!

Este es un restaurante tradicional alemán, muy promocionado por sus schnitzels. La habitación es muy pequeña, y las mesas están muy cerca entre sí, por lo que, en la mayoría de los casos, hay que sentarse en la misma mesa con otros clientes. Muchas personas lo encontrarían incómodo, algunos otros no. Tampoco es tan saludable (desde la perspectiva de la higiene) que tanta gente se reúna en un espacio tan confinado. El servicio era amable, y la comida era deliciosa. La ensalada de queso feta, pedida como entrada, era lo suficientemente grande como para que dos personas la compartieran como único plato. Los schnitzels ("Wiener" y "A la maison") eran muy sabrosos y en grandes cantidades. Precios en el rango medio. Si mueres por una cocina alemana, y puedes soportar el pequeño espacio superpoblado, este es un lugar para venir una y otra vez. Si no, como yo, una sola visita sería más que suficiente.

Great local place to eat traditional food. The service was very friendly and we were quickly provided with drinks and food. The food was very tasty, we had the Schnitzel with pepper sauce. Definitely recommended, but it is best to reserve a place in advance. We arrived on Friday and were able to reserve a place for Sunday.

Dos personas de nuestro grupo de cuatro por alguna razón pidieron los que no estaban empanizados y fue un error - los schnitzels empanados eran mucho más jugosos y sabrosos. We ate here very spontaneously without a reservation. The restaurant is small, very cramped but then again cozy. Every place is sold here. Means that you are sat at a table with strangers. This takes some getting used to. Otherwise it was also very loud and it was difficult to hear what you were talking to. However, the food was really recommended and very, very tasty. The service was very friendly and accommodating. If someone is very sociable and wants good food, this is the place to be.

The Weinstube Schnitzelbank is located in a nice side street, very close to the Neckar. Here you will find cozy tables in the fresh air - perfect for enjoying the atmosphere of the old town on a sunny day. The interior is rustic and decorated in the traditional Palatinate style, which creates its own charm! The schnitzels are crispy and served with a large selection of delicious, special sauces. The pepper sauce deserves special mention – it has an intense taste and is wonderfully balanced. The schnitzels are not only served with classic fries, but also excellent tagliatelle and spaetzle, which offer a great variety. The service is super friendly, warm and helpful – you immediately feel welcome. An ideal place for refreshments before heading to the castle or perhaps on a hike to the Kaiserstuhl. Clear recommendation for anyone looking for an authentic culinary experience in Heidelberg!

Super cosy, friendly, delicious traditional food!

Usually completely overcrowded and therefore no chance to enjoy the hospitality quietly and without stress. There is also a rancid smell that permeates the outside of the restaurant. The schnitzels are edible, but I think a second visit is unlikely.

My son and I were in Heidelberg in late September 2024. He found this place while doing a Google search and we decided to check it out for dinner. What an awesome discovery! It's a small quaint place with several superb outdoor tables and located fairly close to a river. We decided to sit outside, as the weather was perfect. We both had escargot for appetizers with a delicious German reisling. The escargot were perfect. Both of us ordered schnitzel (of course) which also was very delicious! We finished with apple strudel for dessert, which was the perfect ending to a traditional German meal. Our server was extremely helpful and took exception care of us. I will remember this experience very fondly for many many years.

It's a popular restaurant, so it's best to make a reservation even on weekdays. I think it would be good to compare fried schnitzel and grilled schnitzel. Onion soup is good when you drink it with rich cheese! The staff was very pleasant and responded quickly and smoothly.

Not sure why the high score for this establishment. We ate here about 8 years ago, it was a good location for a proper Schnitzel. Not so much now. I lived in Heidelberg for a while, knew to stay away from tourist traps, this time took the bait. If you are an American tourist, this is not a Schnitzel you will remember. More breding then meat, to that it was dry. It is very crowded and price ratio no where where it should be. Would not recommend.

Horrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs! I rarely leave bad reviews, but this place deserves it. First of all, the staff here are unbelievably rude and disrespectful. From the moment we walked in, it was like we were an inconvenience to them. No greeting, just a cold, unfriendly attitude that made the whole experience uncomfortable. When we asked simple questions they were condescending and dismissive. It’s clear they have no interest in customer service. To make matters worse, the inside of the restaurant stinks. Seriously, there’s a foul odor that hits you as soon as you walk through the door. It was unbearable, and I’m shocked they’re still in business with how disgusting the place smells. Between the horrible staff and the nasty environment, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else!

Such a great shop! We even ate there twice during our 3-day stay in Heidelberg. In addition to the delicious schnitzel, the service was really top notch. Despite the full house, you remained calm and still had a relaxed saying on your lips. We'll be back! :)

Best schnitzel in Heidelberg! Small, cozy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The selection on the menu is quite small, but everything tastes delicious and fresh. The price-performance ratio is good and the service is very friendly. If you want an authentic southern German dinner, the Schnitzelbank is the right place for you. (Only the wooden benches are sometimes a bit uncomfortable and a reservation is recommended as the restaurant is often fully booked) The savoy cabbage salad is a clear recommendation.
