Pure pub atmosphere, nice and fast service, the Wiener Schnitzel - original of course - very tasty, as was the lamb's lettuce, thanks for the recommendation to my friends. I'm already looking forward to the next time

We were there with 10 people. My beef liver was good, maybe a little poor. The colleague's salad with chicken was very filling. The food came quite quickly. The prices are okay. Criticism: The service wasn't very attentive and the fact that each of us had to go to the counter individually to pay wasn't exactly a hit.

I have known the Hahnenhof since my childhood...for 50 years...the atmosphere was really nice and cozy...the food today tasted really good...the atmosphere was good...the service was attentive, quick and friendly...I would always recommend the restaurant

Yes, I was the one who ate all your trout multiple times, and drank all your Schnapps. What a great little "family" restaurant kind of "off the beaten track" in Mainz, yet easily walkable from the more popular areas. This was my "go-to" restaurant when I wanted fish, but there are a ton of great German dishes as well.

Simply great... the atmosphere is warm and cozy, just the right thing to get hungry... the food was simply great... grandma, mother and star chef seem to be at work in the kitchen... we were four adults I would have loved to try the whole menu... everything was really tasty... and in addition to the great ambience, delicious food and very good service, there was also a very clean toilet... definitely make a reservation because it was already early in the evening quite... rightly so

Super tasty goose breast. Fantastically balanced meat with red cabbage, dumplings and chestnuts. Great wine recommendation. Great service at our table and at the neighboring tables. Very attentive staff especially for our dog. We felt very comfortable and full. I made a reservation right away for December to enjoy the same meal again on the Christmas menu.

Es tut mir leid, für ein Eigelb vom Landei zum Tatar 1.50 Euro zu verlangen, und dann über die Beilagen extra Geld zu machen dient nicht gerade dazu, das ich dieses Lokal besuche.

There were three of us, two ate half the chicken with fries, one the Wiener-style schnitzel with fries. Super delicious. Friendly service, nice boss.

Google says it’s open until 23:00 but on the Friday evening we were there, the kitchen closed at 21:00 and the restaurant closed at 22:00. Arriving after 21:00 meant food choices were very limited. I had the sausage which was very bland but served with delicious cold potato cucumber salad. My companion had the half chicken with same salad and found the chicken quite good. Despite not being very busy, service was slow although very friendly.

We were there with six people. The reservation for the terrace turned out to be a place in the guest room. OK, it can happen, no broken leg. However, there was certainly cause for criticism when it came to the food. A Viennese fried chicken is half a chicken that is breaded and fried whole. On the plate we found a chicken breast and a chicken leg. I would expect a lot of “schlotz” from the matching potato salad with cucumbers; the cucumbers and potatoes should be cut almost the same thickness. On the plate was an unevenly cut potato salad with a few cucumber slices, which was very lightly seasoned and rather lacked the expected "Schlotz". The menu states that on Sundays from 8 p.m. there is only a reduced menu. If a table of six that has been occupied since 6:30 p.m. asks at 8:02 p.m. whether it is possible to order a Kaiserschmarrn for dessert, then as the chef you can definitely refuse. However, in my opinion, this decision lacks a bit of tact. The lukewarm apple tart ordered instead of the Kaiserschmarrn was cold, the waffle in which the salted caramel ice cream with nectarine chutney was served was possibly crispy at some point, but unfortunately not at the time of serving. It's a shame, there are a lot of little things that turn what was once a "can blindly recommend" into just a "pretty ok".

Traditional restaurant in Mainz Neustadt with very good food and top service. It was a pleasure.

For a good 10 years I always enjoyed going to the street for half a chicken and fries. Today I was so disappointed that I will never come back. The fries were really disastrous and they were left in the deep fryer for too long today, so I had to throw away half of the portion. Chicken just about done and nothing else as tasty as before.

Uriges Lokal mit viel Holz, man sitzt auch sehr schön draußen. Gute Weinauswahl. Bedienung ist auf Zack, soweit alles okay. Wir hatten das Wiener Backhendl mit Kartoffel-Gurken-Salat - die Panade des Hendl überhaupt nicht knusprig, im Kartoffel-Gurken-Salat waren kaum Gurken und er war einfach nur matschig und ölig. Dafür sind 22,50 € definitiv zuviel ...

I came to have dinner. I asked the waiters what the dishes consisted of in English, they could not explain, and there was no translation of what the dishes consisted of either. 🤔 I ordered potatoes and chicken. Potatoes are wildly salty!! Grilled chicken seems okay. As a side dish I asked for a mix of vegetable salad without dressing and salt, vinegar (they looked at me so strangely...), they brought me five halves of cherry tomatoes and an unwashed salad....which was cracking in my teeth.🤷🙈 Horror. I paid 24 euros for everything. ....

Unfortunately we were pretty disappointed and so I can't say much good about it. The service was a disaster. Unfriendly and invasive. The food came quickly, but there were hardly any guests there and it was completely cold. It seemed fresh, but who likes cold hollandaise sauce. So we definitely won't come back.

Food was served quickly. Although special requests were accepted when ordering, they were not implemented in the kitchen. The taste of what was served was good, but unfortunately the portions were too small in relation to the price. Children ordered fries for 4.50 euros. The ketchup and mayonnaise served were charged at an extra 1.80 each, which means you end up with over 8 euros for a really small portion of fries. Cheeky. The market salad for 18.50 was also very manageable in size. Dining room too dark for my taste.

Everything Tippi - Toppi... Only the wine spritzer was too expensive for me. Otherwise gladly again...

Nice, friendly and open-minded service and really good cuisine. The ambience is old-fashioned, nothing against traditional furnishings, but this could do with a bit of sprucing up. Conclusion: you can eat home-style food here at a fair price, but for me personally it is too uncomfortable and old-fashioned to stay for a long time and it is also too dark outside of the window seats.

Unfortunately there is no longer any good quality food, the cheese spaetzle is tasteless, the schnitzel is full of tendons and fat and if you mention it it can't be, they don't take into account what the customer reports but simply say you must have ordered the wrong thing. It's a shame but I'm no longer your customer!

The Kaiserschmarrn is sensational

Well, what can I say, as expected - €16.50 for half a chicken with fries, the chicken was the size of a small pigeon! All in all, a rather poor snack bar than “Hahnenhof” restaurant level - unfortunately not a point worth mentioning in terms of taste! There will definitely be no further orders etc. following 🙏.

Haven't been here for a long time. The food and wine are as I remembered them. Great service and really the best Austrian/Hungarian cuisine far and wide.

Sensationally good and delicious! Tom Urban, the chef, knows his craft. From Handkäs with music, liver Berlin style, Viennese fried chicken, cordon bleu, Viennese veal schnitzel but also all other dishes on offer are perfectly prepared and decently large portions are served. On top of that there is always a small special menu with delicious dishes. The wine selection is very good, with predominantly Rheingau and international wines. The restaurateurs Anja and Tibor know how to offer optimal service with their entire team. The ambience corresponds to a beautiful, classic, traditional wine bar, as we know it in Mainz. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant.

There were 30 places available, which were supposed to be filled soon, which is why there was no room for 2 people for a short time. I would call that bad service

The food is great. The service is rough and not everyone is really friendly. Everything is calculated exactly, even if ketchup and mayo were forgotten and came three times, you pay 1.80 euros per bowl. Unfortunately, there is no tact.

I would really like to write something nice, because the service and management of the restaurant are nice people, but unfortunately the food is only average. It seems freshly prepared and well-crafted, BUT it just doesn't taste like anything. It lacks any spice, sophistication or at least butter. Unfortunately, my experience is not an isolated case. We were there with 7 people and everyone was disappointed. Dear owners. Please try your dishes again with more dedication and love. You have long been a guarantee of delicious food. Make an effort again. Then I'll be happy to come back.

Gutes Restaurant, das Wiener backhendl ist einfach klasse

Superb neighbourhood restaurant serving some German classics, some with an imaginative twist. I had one of the day’s specials - a pork cutlet, “wine-grower style”, coated with pumpernickel breadcrumbs and served with sautéed potatoes and grapes (also sautéed!). Excellent! Charming, attentive staff. Clientele seemed to be mainly locals. We ate outside, in one of the tables at the roadside, because the evening was too warm to want to be indoors, but the characterful indoor dining room looked like it would be great on a colder evening.

Innen war es mir etwas zu dunkel, mag aber auch am Wetter gelegen haben, es regnete immer mal wieder, also dunkle Wolken am Himmel.

Ein tolles Lokal, dass immer gut abliefert. Anja, Tibor und ihre Crew geben sich immer die größte Mühe alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Wenn andere die Extra-Meile gehen macht das Team 2 Meilen (mindestens). Vielen Dank für schöne Abende mit leckerem Essen und gutem Wein.

Außergewöhnlich gutes Essen in lockerer Atmosphäre, netter Garten in einem Wohngebiet, faire Preise. Ein schöner Abend

Gemütliches und ordentlich geführtes Lokal. Backhendl Salat top. Mit hochwertigem Kürbiskernöl. Geschmacklich und qualitativ top, sowie das Brathähnchen. Der Hahnenhof schreibt auf seiner Seite, dass Qualität und Frische heute leider keine Selbstverständlichkeit sind. Das empfinde ich genauso und gehe daher gerne in Restaurants die Ihre Produkte aus der sRegion beziehen und wert auf das Tierwohl legen dafür bin ich gerne bereit ein paar Euro mehr zu bezahlen. Qualität kostet eben auch etwas. Eingang ist barrierefrei.

Wir hatten das Wiener Schnitzel mit Kartoffel Gurkensalat bzw Pommes, dazu Mayonnaise und Preiselbeeren. Das Schnitzel war erste Klasse, schön knusprig und heiß serviert. Ich würde gerne 5 Sterne vergeben aber der Preis, den wir am Ende zahlen mussten, dezimiert die Sterne auf 3. Für ein Wiener Schnitzel mit Pommes ohne irgendwelche Beilagen zahlt man 22,50Euro. Ein stolzer Preis, den ich ja noch akzeptieren kann. Aber für eine Portion Mayonnaise, auch wenn sie hausgemacht ist, 1,80 Euro zu verlangen, erschließt sich mir nicht. Auch der Preis für eine Kleinigkeit Preiselbeeren mit stolzen 2,50 Euro ist einfach nur frech. Da wird scheinbar viel Geld mit den kleinen Beilagen gemacht. Wir fühlten uns sehr abgezockt.

Sehr leckeres Essen Tolle Location & freundliches Personal

Sowas von Schade Preisliche bestimmt im Rahmen der Neustadt, aber es ist nicht die Qualität, die man erwartet. Die Chicken Nuggets sind Metroware aus Pressfleisch, für 18€ gibt es eine kleine Portion Pommes (kaum mehr als bei der ebenfalls bestellten Kinderportion) mit einem kleinen Hähnchenschnitzel und einen Schnenkel. Die Panade hat nichts eigenes, ist aber subjektiv. Sehr fair fand ich den Hinweis auf kommendes schlechtes Wetter, dafür gab es für den Hund nichts zu trinken.

Ich esse dort seit vielen Jahren und es ist immer wieder sehr gut! Ganz besonders der Kaiserschmarren!

Wir haben hier sehr gut zu Mittag gegessen und kommen bestimmt wieder. Das Essen kam schnell und war sehr lecker.

Schnitzel war ein tick zu trocken aber die Käsespätzle waren top! Service auf Zack und freundlich. Trinkgeld nur bar möglich.

Die Karte ist überschaubar aber ausreichend. Ich habe leider nicht auf vegetarische Gerichte geachtet, dazu kann ich nichts sagen. Aber die Panade ist in diesem Restaurant perfekt. Der Wein ist lecker. Der Service super. Die Preise würde ich im mittleren Segment einordnen. Ein guter Ort um mit Eltern essen zu gehen.

Super freundliches Personal, das Ambiente ist sehr schön und traditionell. Die Auswahl auf der Karte war super und das Essen war extrem lecker und von sehr guter Qualität. Ein absoluter Geheimtipp, muss man mal probiert haben!

Wir waren leider enttäuscht. Das Essen hat nicht unseren Erwartungen entsprochen. Das Wiener Backhendl hatte nichts mit dem Original zu tun. Ebenso die Pommes waren blass und nicht knusprig. Daher war das Essen auch viel zu teuer. Schade.

Ambiente im Nebenraum war leider nicht soo schön wie im Hauptraum. Ansonsten war alles, wenn man gute rustikale Küche mag, super.

Super leckeres Essen. Ein schöner Abend. Aber leider kam der Ärger dann zum Schluss in der Rechnung. Als Dessert 2 Portionen Kaiserschmarrn für 4 Personen bestellt. Das hat die Bedienung auch sicher richtig verstanden. Es kamen auch 4 Teller, sowie eine Platte mit Kaiserschmarrn, der geteilt wurde. Auf der Rechnung standen dann völlig unlogisch 3 Portionen. Nachfrage beim Wirt, es wären drei Portionen bestellt gewesen. Toll, war aber so nicht bestellt und gewollt. Hat leider damit einen schlechten letzten Eindruck hinterlassen. Eine Reduzierung sei nicht möglich. Das kann auch der angebotene (nicht gute) Obstler nicht wegmachen. Eigentlich 5 Sterne und wir wären wiedergekommen, aber 3 Portionen berechnen obwohl 2 bestellt wurden geht einfach nicht. Dann muss der Wirt Kulanz zeigen oder es intern mit der Bedienung klären.

Der Arbeiter mit der glatze ist sehr unfreundlich und fasst die Gäste an. Gehe nie wieder dorthin! Nicht empfehlenswert !!

Zur Feier eines runden Geburtstages haben wir abends Hähnchen mit Pommes Frites bestellt. Die Hähnchen waren noch schön heiß, als sie zuhause ankamen und haben fantastisch geschmeckt. Auch die Pommes waren sehr lecker und krachig. Wir würden dort jederzeit wieder bestellen. Einfach alles hervorragend. Vielen Dank für diesen tollen Service.

Wir waren nun schon einige Male im Hahnenhof zum Dinner. Bodenständige Küche und netter Service, die Speisen werden immer frisch zubereitet. Es dauert hier vielleicht einen Moment länger als in anderen Restaurants bis das Essen serviert wird, allerdings wird man nach der Wartezeit mit einem hervorragenden Gericht belohnt. Die Weinauswahl ist toll und die Preise moderat.

Draußen sitzt man sehr schön, der Service ist zuvorkommend. Ich kann hier nur eine Empfehlung abgeben.

Heute Wildschwein mit Steinpilzen, Kartoffel-Sellerie-Püree, karamelisierter Rosenkohl! Ein Gedicht! Selten so gut gegessen!

Wir gehen hier sehr gerne hin. Sehr gutes Essen und gute passende Weine. Allerdings holen wir uns hier auch sehr gerne Essen und genießen zu hause. Natürlich das Halbe mit Pommes und selbstgemachten Ketchup. Aber auch das ausgelöste Hähnchen ist superlecker. Für uns gibt es in Mainz keine Hähnchenalternative, auch wenn es etwas teurer ist als die Imbissbude.

1/2 Hähnchen mit Pommes und Salat für 17,00 Euro , gespritzter Wein4,40 Euro... Stolzer Preis, geschmacklich gut, aber leider eine Preisklasse zu hoch! Schade

...und zwar das Wiener Schnitzel. Zart, die Panade schön wellig, dazu Kartoffel-Gurkensalat, sehr fein! Die Weine kamen auch gut an, vor allem werden sie hier schön kalt serviert wie es sich gehört. Service sehr zuvorkommend und gut drauf. So soll's sein!

Die Bedienungen waren freundlich und nett und serviceorientiert. Hauptsächlich gibt es Hähnchen in verschiedensten Variationen z. B. Kräuterhähnchen, Backhändel oder natürlich auch klassisch. Sie sind lecker und qualitativ hochwertig. Von Rumsteaks kann ich nur abraten. Statt des gewünschten Garegrades von Medium und Medium Well bekamen wir deutlich rohere und teils ungleichmäßig Gebratenes serviert. Die Fleischqualität überzeugte leider auch nicht wirklich. Die Zubereitungszeit war mit fast 40 Minuten sehr lang, obwohl es nicht sehr voll war. Der Preis des Rumsteaks war mit 26 Euro für das Gebotene eindeutig zu hoch. Das Ambiente ist eher Rustikal und in Ordnung. Im Sommer kann man schön draußen sitzen.
