A nice and welcoming place, simple in management, with interesting ideas of fusion of flavours, between traditional ingredients and Mediterranean and oriental ideas; some very successful, a couple a little less. my advice is to take several dishes to share, as is done at tables in countries such as Greece or the Middle East. Good quality/price balance

Exceptionally good food for very reasonable prices.

Try this place out for a weekend brunch. These are really generous portions and they do fill you up a lot. All the dishes we ordered were tasty and delicious. Service was great and it is just a very quaint setup which is a real change to the manicured places that you usually find.

There are one or two good restaurants in Ehrenfeld, but sometimes you can also find hidden gems like WALLCZKA that just go one better. The food deserves 6 stars rather than 5 stars. A great atmosphere and service that you rarely experience anymore. Our waitress (Annouschka?) was simply great. Mega friendly, competent, funny and warm. Be sure to ask her about her culinary insider tips!!! All in all an absolute recommendation!

Favorite restaurant in Ehrenfeld :)

We ate here to celebrate our wedding and it was absolutely perfect. We were able to choose wines in advance and were given very nice advice. In general, the care and service was super friendly and accommodating. The food was very tasty. An unreserved recommendation! :)

We were there on Saturday evening. The food is super tasty, beautifully prepared and unusual. However, the room is very bare and bland and at some point it was incredibly loud, which had more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant atmosphere. You have to like it. It was too much for us to have a comfortable conversation. We would come back for the food, but then probably during the week.

Wonderful place for a good evening with delicious food and pleasant vibes. The menu is small but varied and we wanted to order almost everything. A plate of mezze costs ~€11 and the two of us shared five, which filled us up quite well.

Restaurant with terrace in a rather quiet area, excellent brunch on Sunday lunchtime (€15-20 for the main brunch), helped by the waitress who spoke French. I really liked the place, you have to wait a little bit for the dishes to arrive afterwards! I really like the city, very well urbanized (vs the brothel in France), and the Ehrenfeld district (for the calm, not the outings), but that's another subject :)

Quality mezze style food. 2 dishes per person is a good amount. However, I would have liked spare ribs with more oomph, even though they were cooked perfectly. Also a somewhat more stringent line, there is always something here from Polish to Spain to Japan, which means that the individual mezzes quickly don't harmonize with each other.

The great Polish-born service staff was really outstanding and service-oriented, even after an incorrect order that wasn't ordered. Keep it totally professional👍🏽 The plate was taken back without any problem and the correct “Egg’s Benedict” was promptly brought to the table. The taste of the food was medium standard, nothing special, I have to be honest, I had a better breakfast somewhere else. However, the atmosphere is quite relaxed, which we really liked :) P/L there's something else, for 2x people each with a café/cappuccino, Shakshuka and Egg's Benedikt and a Polish pancake as dessert we paid including, tip exactly 75€ is just a breakfast, nothing more and nothing less. For the presentation and the taste, the price is clearly too high. You can do it, you don't have to. Still a nice shop.

I had heard good things about the place, unfortunately disappointing. Food came after an hour and was ok. Unfortunately the service was very unfriendly. Shorter man with gray hair. Can you taste the wine before ordering a glass? No. Can we have another candle for the table? No. Still tipped at the end and the waiter seriously complains why I don't give him more. Never experienced it before. Unfortunately I don't feel like coming again and I won't recommend it to anyone 🙃

Very tasty food with a great selection of mezze

The food has always been 1. high quality 2. very well processed and 3. we like it fantastically (very much suits our taste). Today we had a table for 4 people from 5:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. The tables are allocated in time slots (as is usual in some places). Because of a demo, two of us were there 30 minutes later, unfortunately not until 6:15 p.m. The waiter made it clear to us that we only had the table until 7:45 p.m. That was clear to us and a nice note is absolutely fine, but the not so nice tone was also a flavor for the rest of the story. We ordered quickly and (because it was very tasty) it was ready relatively quickly. We ordered 9 mezzes. So we had a great time. It was 7:10 p.m. and we were already having dessert. The annoyed waiter (we no longer knew why he was so annoyed, since we had already eaten (perhaps unconsciously extra quickly) and still officially had 30 minutes left). Nevertheless, at the waiter's "request" the dessert was served in the middle of the dessert The billing was done, which was annoying enough and after the billing we were constantly asked if we could clear up and tried to clear away plates and glasses. At 7:30 p.m. it became too annoying for me and asked the waiter in a friendly but firm manner Since we had already paid (and tipped (for the kitchen and the rest of the waiters)), there was no need to disturb us until 7:45 p.m. - that's how long we had the table. That worked and we left the restaurant full and unfortunately annoyed at 7:44 p.m. So unfortunately it wasn't a nice experience as it was very un-tense. The fact that two people arrived a little later didn't change the fact that we wanted to stay in the restaurant in peace until the end of the booked time slot. Otherwise the food was very good and the rest of the waiters were very friendly. Unfortunately, the only toilet available did not meet the rest of the standard and was not inviting.

Wasn't that pleasantly surprised. The ambience is sparse, the tables and chairs wobble. The selection is quite ok for vegetarians, but quite clear for carnivores. For dessert a creme brulee which was really ice cold and firm. Overall 3 stars because it's OK.

We've been here for the 4th time now. The food was always very tasty and top. However, the service could point out if it was taking a little longer. When we came the restaurant was almost empty and it took us over an hour to eat Wait, I don't find that that exciting! What is not possible, however, given the high prices, is to receive tip instructions at the end on the bill about how much tip you should give, divided into % and satisfied, happy and speechless (over 10%). I was speechless too, but not in a good way! I find that very outrageous and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's upset about it! So please don't do something like that, it's not appropriate to print it on the invoice! Guests are not small children who need to be taught! (And for some it certainly has the exact opposite effect: namely that there are no tips!)

Everything was perfect ! Service friendly, fast, attentive. Excellent food all around, with and without meat. Gladly again at any time.

Shakshuka with poached egg was really good! Not particularly oriental, but that's what it says, my own interpretation - successful!🤤 Syrniki was also very tasty, there could have been a bit more fruit but the taste was really convincing and nice and fluffy 👍

It was very very tasty. We couldn't decide which was tastiest. We had 9 meals with 4 women. That was exactly right. The eggplant and goat cheese, zucchini balls, carrage chicken, sweet potato fries and pirrogi were simply great. Only the time slot for only 2 hours was a bit of a shame. But Napoli welcomed us. A nice corner in Ehrenfeld.

Very tasty and unusual dishes, but the price is pretty high. In retrospect it's worth it, it's a completely different experience to eat there. But we would have had more drinks if we had been paid more attention to. But overall very friendly. 🫶

The food was extremely delicious. The gentleman in service was somehow a bit stressed and not that friendly - a shame. But his colleague was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is very nice - only some of the tables are a bit close together.

For me one of the best restaurants in Cologne - the food is really something special and always fresh and delicious. Service & ambience also great - only overall a bit pricey, but you really get something good in return.

Good food with a special touch. We recommend. There were two daily specials to choose from in addition to the standard menu. The four of us had two dishes per person, as the portion size is more similar to large tapas. Everything was dishes from various international cuisines, in the direction of home cooking with sophistication and super tasty preparation. Although you only have a pre-reserved time slot of only 2 hours, we unfortunately couldn't finish off the second round of drinks comfortably or order a dessert (time pressure is rather uncomfortable), but of course there was enough to eat the main courses. The chairs could be more comfortable and the atmosphere a little quieter, but you can still have a good conversation. We would give away vouchers for the restaurant, otherwise it was a bit expensive.

There is still room for improvement in terms of ambience. Everything else is great!

The food was really tasty, no question about it. But the prices and portion sizes are beyond good and bad. A slice of bread with two eggs and a slice of ham for 15 euros cannot be justified with organic and local producers.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Cologne. Delicious, varied breakfast. Can also be called brunch. The poached eggs and the Rösti as well as the Syrniki for breakfast are highly recommended. Good and inexpensive lunch, great mezze and good wines. Small terrace right on the street. The toilets are a fun highlight.

Make a reservation urgently, it's difficult to get a table spontaneously on the weekend. If you have a table, the attentive service will provide you with delicious food that is unusually composed, with delicious wine (among other things) in a rather reduced, very stylish ambience.

We were warmly welcomed by the staff, even though we didn't have a reservation. However, it is recommended to reserve here 1-2 days in advance, as the store is running very well. I don't even have to talk about the food. Everything we had was incredibly delicious! The food gives me the vibe of a fusion of oriental and European cuisine. And every taste is catered for. The dishes are well thought out and very interesting. It is recommended to order around 2 mezzes per person. After your meal you will also find a great selection of cakes for dessert. There is also a huge selection of vegetarian dishes, some of which can also be ordered vegan. The pictures speak for themselves. So I give it an absolute recommendation and 5 stars!

This is one of the best restaurants I can recommend. The plates (2 per person) are incredibly delicious, everything is always freshly prepared. The prices are more than reasonable and the service is always top. If you are in Cologne, you should definitely take this trip to Ehrenfeld.

Kleines gemütliches Restaurant , mit vielen kleinen Gerichten genau unser Geschmack. Wir haben jeweils 2 Gerichte genommen und ein wenig getauscht, so hat man noch mehr Geschmäcker, einfach lecker. Kleiner ruhiger Hund war erlaubt 🐶💖

Leckere (polnische) Tapas und Kuchen. Macht Spaß, verträgt aber alles ein bisschen mehr Gewürz.

Fantastic dinner at Wallczka - booked while on a weekend holiday as a neighbourhood restaurant with good reviews to get out of the centre and couldn’t have been happier. Excellent service, great tasting food which catered for the veggies in our party, wonderful atmosphere, would recommend 100% and would go back. Do not miss the fried chicken, the braised cabbage or the roasted cauliflower!

Sehr freundliches kleines Restaurant in Ehrenfeld ohne großes Schnickschnack, aber anständiges Essen zu ebensolchen Preisen. Je nach Tageszeit werden Frühstück (sehr reichhaltig) und Mittagessen (erst ab Punkt 12 Uhr) serviert. Abendessen kann ich nicht beurteilen. Bedienung ist auf Zack und sehr freundlich! Gerne wieder!

Super zuvorkommendes und freundliches Team, tolle Karte und es war geschmacklich der wahnsinnig gut!! Die Süßkartoffelpommes waren super lecker, das Egg Royal war der Hammer, der Kuchen war Bombe! Dadurch das der Laden mega gefragt ist, war es durchgehend voll und daher relativ laut, aber das ist ja vermutlich überall ähnlich! Komme wieder!

Wir haben unseren zweiten Besuch im Wallczka mit Freunden sehr genossen und einen tollen Abend verbracht. Die Tapas sind alle köstlich gewesen. Toll finde ich, dass die Portionen größer sind als bei den üblichen spanischen Tapas. Das gedämpfte Licht verleiht dem Ambiente eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Einziger Nachteil ist die begrenzte Zeit von 2 Stunden pro Reservierung. Wir erhielte überpünktlich die Rechnung auf den Tisch gelegt. Es war wenig Gelegenheit, ein zweites Glas Wein oder Dessert zu bestellen. Alle Kellner waren sehr nett! Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen, immer super lecker. Der einzige Nachteil ist die Lautstärke im Restaurant…

The experience was unfortunately only okay. I was excited to go because the menu seemed very interesting, but was a little let down. The service was rather slow, it took a good thirty minutes for us to order and receive drinks. The server also forgot our drinks twice - first she came back and asked again what I wanted, and then completely forgot our water until we reminded her. Overall, the food was also only okay. Not bad at all, but not outstanding either, which is disappointing at this price point. The food is already expensive, and we were overcharged for a drink as well. I probably would not dine here again.
