We were invited to a Viking wedding this weekend. The setting was perfect. Everything was perfect. From the demo to the food, the service, the drink selection, and even the officiant, everything was very harmonious and excellent. We'd be happy to go again.

Absolutely. Very tasty food. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned really well. The cheese-stuffed meatballs are also highly recommended.

My colleague had booked a table and we wanted to go out to dinner with six people. Unfortunately, they weren't able to tell us that the restaurant was closed. There was just a note in the window. An absolute no-go. We definitely won't be back.

This was our fourth time there, and for the fourth time, we wanted to order the flame-grilled salmon. But even on our fourth visit, it wasn't available. Even though we've always been there early, around 5 or 6 p.m. It's really strange. Perhaps they should remove the flame-grilled salmon from the menu and only offer it as a daily special, if it's ever available. The ambiance inside, the food, and the service are otherwise good. However, it would be great if you could also sit outside in the summer :)

Repeated feasting guaranteed! Every Wednesday there is a special event with live music. The subject matter varies (Scottish, Celtic, Irish, Nordic…) A buffet is set up based on the respective theme and you can eat your fill for 30 euros per person. A live band plays (also in keeping with the theme) A repeat visit is worth it! On the other opening days you can choose from a well-stocked menu.

Looking, yes, but... We were there with 20 people, two of whom said they were okay after dinner, and the rest went out to eat after dinner. 🙈The atmosphere is pleasant, but we'll never eat there again. For example: flame-grilled salmon on the menu - it wasn't even wrong, three kinds of seafood on request - including pangasius - it couldn't be worse, the potatoes weren't cooked, and the "salad" with the meal 🤣🤣🤣 The crowning glory was the so-called cheese platter "Made at Aldi" for €16.50 (see photo) with grapes counted. 😮😮😮 In short, the prices are completely out of proportion to the quality and taste!

A must for meat lovers. The selection includes everything from game to chicken. The rump steak was strong in taste and tender in the bite and cooked to perfection. The tomahawk stick and thunderballs were also excellent.

We always enjoy going there. The service is excellent and friendly. The food is very tasty with generous portions. The price is quite high for my standards, but appropriate for what you get, maybe even a tad too cheap. The ambience is absolutely fantastic, from the characterful wooden tables, to the music, the names of the dishes and the decoration. I'm still fascinated by smoked chicken and my companion swears by Ragnar's battle axes. A vegan selection is available - small but nice. However, it is more of a restaurant for meat lovers. We always enjoy traveling from Essen in North Rhine-Westphalia, not only but also for this experience!

We stopped here for dinner on the way back from Groningen to Cuxhaven. We were thrilled the second time too. We would be happy to come back again, even if the journey there and back takes 2 hours each.

I ordered a steak for €35, it arrived without herb butter, potatoes cold, steak also cold and over medium rare. If we complained to the waitress, the same steak came back. Everything was hot, but the cut steak was pushed back into the pan... is that allowed? Of course that was completely over. I went to the kitchen with the plate, the cook took it off, shouted oh my god and marched back again. Afterwards he came to our table and said we should pay immediately and leave. She would never have had such guests before... ah, of course not only with me, but also with my friend. Three other guests at the table were happy with their food. Service beyond the boss was great.

We went there relatively regularly and enjoyed taking guests there. Today we were there again. Two of us ordered steak medium. When the food came, both the steaks and the side dishes were cold. After we complained about the cold food, the steaks, which had been ordered medium and had already been cut, were warmed up and brought back to the table. Of course they were through. This is an absolute no-go and absurd, especially given the price. After we complained about this, we were insulted badly by the boss. We really appreciate the Walhalla so far, but after the cancellation today we really have to think about whether we will come back. This was more than embarrassing for us and our guests and was subterranean behavior from an entrepreneur!

Disaster. Ordered a 35 euro steak medium. Received a plate on which the steak was slightly overcooked and the side dishes were also cold. Friendly complained to the waitress, the boss brought the plate back a bit briskly. The food was warm but the same cut steak, now clearly overcooked (more like done) and woody and dry from below due to overcooking. The boss is not able to deal with criticism professionally and uses an abusive tone towards me when the house is full. But the shop is very nice and the staff is friendly and very respectful.

At first we thought, based on the pictures and the reviews, that we could spend a nice evening here. But appearances are deceiving. While the ambience was okay and the conditions were very nice and accommodating, the food was a bitter disappointment. Not only was it relatively cold, it was also completely tasteless. Really, there were no spices whatsoever. The salt shaker may have passed the potato wedges in a hurry, but it didn't hit them. The sauerkraut, red cabbage and carrot vegetables obviously came fresh from the can. The chicken was bone dry, as were the minced meat balls. And charging over 20 euros per dish is correspondingly cheeky. We definitely won't be coming back again.

Unbelievable things happened at the next table. The guests complained that the food was lukewarm and then the boss gave them the steak warmed up. She didn't indulge in insults either. We were immediately afraid and preferred not to say anything more about our food. I'd rather not go there anymore.

Top restaurant, the ambience makes you feel like you are in a large Viking house. The staff wears typical Viking garb, are super friendly, always present but never intrusive. The food was extremely good and is highly recommended!! If there were bonus stars, I would give them here immediately.

We went to the Irish theme evening and were absolutely thrilled. All 4 of us rolled out afterwards because it was so delicious. Our daughter was also wonderfully looked after and entertained by the staff, thank you again for that.

If you've always wanted to feast like a Viking without first building a longship or slaying a dragon, then the Walhalla Viking Restaurant is the right place for you. There is not only good, solid food here, but also a good portion of atmosphere. The ambience is lovingly designed, rustic, atmospheric and simply exactly what you imagine a festive Viking feast to be like. The wood creaks, the horns are ready, and if you want, you are welcome to appear in appropriate outfit. What's particularly nice is that large groups are also welcome. Whether it's a family celebration, a birthday or simply a meeting with your own Viking clan, you can eat, laugh and drink together here. The food is strong, down-to-earth and filling. No frills, just honest cuisine, the kind Torfinn, son of Olaf, would have enjoyed after a long day at sea. My only small criticism is that the dishes could have been seasoned a little bolder. A touch more fire on the tongue would have been good. Reservations are recommended on certain days. Word gets around where it's good and it can get crowded. If you want to be on the safe side, call ahead. If you come by spontaneously, with a bit of luck you still have the chance to get a spot. Personally, I really enjoy such concepts. Food that not only fills you up but also makes you happy, combined with an environment that takes you away from everyday life. Walhalla is a restaurant that you don't just visit, but experience. And I'd love to come back.

It was incredibly loud in the restaurant due to a large group. The food was ok, but nothing special and the portions were rather small. The price was far too high for that. We had to wait a long time for the order and the food. The way we deal with criticism (in this case it was just a small comment) should be reconsidered. The ambience is well done.

Nice ambiance and very friendly staff... BUT: We were there tonight for a themed evening focusing on oriental food and falconry. There was a buffet with beef goulash, lamb, fish, and a few other side dishes. Unfortunately, there's no unique selling point in any of the areas, and the food is at best home-style cooking - nicely cooked. There was no spice palette. The dishes were lightly spiced, which you could probably make better at home. The "oriental" spice palette would certainly add a lot, but unfortunately, none were used. A uniformed fish fillet, which I now assume was frozen due to the uniformity of its shape and the breading. Buffet for 2 people, with 2 Diet Cokes and a Mezzo Mix €92.50 Unfortunately, the price was far too high for the taste of the food. Assuming there was an additional fee for the event, well... Without wishing to be rude, I can cook this at home with better quality. Unfortunately, based on my impressions today, I would have to say that I wouldn't visit this restaurant again. Too expensive for too little...

Went there again this evening and, like every time, it was simply delicious. The atmosphere there is very special and rustic and cozy, reminiscent of a Viking longhouse, the staff is extremely friendly, attentive and hard-working and the food is simply amazing. Fresh and homemade of the best quality, special and intense aromas from the smoker. A great restaurant that is absolutely recommended, a visit here is an experience every time!

You don't find a setting like this every day. Great ambiance, friendly staff, and an exceptional menu. The food was very good (Thor's thunderballs are a hit), and the kids loved their pancakes. Highly recommended; certainly not our last stay there.

We were there with our camp to celebrate the start of the season, table at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, we weren't told in advance that the kitchen was only open until 9 p.m. (I didn't find it on the website until now). We still didn't get any food, but the amount we received wasn't enough for the prices and most of us didn't get enough. If you feel drawn to the ambience by the pictures, the walls are only wallpapered in a wood look. But the tables and chairs themselves are great

It was a really great meal and a lovely evening. Very friendly, really great location. Great food, not necessarily "cheap," but something special and worth every penny. If there's anything missing or too little, just speak up, we got it all. After a successful evening and a few beers, we were even allowed to spend the night in the car park with our camper. Food is decent, thunderballs were only warm on the outside and the cheese in the middle was already cold when served. A bit more warmth was missing for a Viking/Medieval restaurant. (Cinnamon and sugar for the pancake should contain more sugar than cinnamon)

No, not recommended. Ambiance has become quite nice. Here and there something is still missing for the Viking feeling. Service is friendly and okay. Food is pure minimalism at completely exorbitant prices for a location in the middle of nowhere. Starter soup (in my case) from the bag/frozen, main course tasted okay, but quite manageable. There were four of us there and at the end we ordered a LARGE cheese plate. The amount would have fit on a slice of bread. Bread not baked in-house, cheese from the supermarket (cheap cheese like Babybell) and all for €18.50. An absolute no-go.

A successful place, made like a longhouse and cozy. Unfortunately the food was just mediocre. The mushroom soup tasted like it came from a can or a bag, the main course and salad lacked any form of sophistication, both in terms of taste and appearance. The highlight was the service, with a North German snout and a lot of heart.

On Saturday we visited the "Walhalla" in Großefehn with four people and had a lovely evening overall. The food was delicious, but the salad could have been a little more varied - it only consisted of iceberg lettuce with a very sweet dressing that we didn't like. The main courses tasted good, but the portions could have been a little larger (especially given the prices) so that you would be full. The dessert was also rather ironic with the colorful sprinkles. The atmosphere is basically consistent, but could seem even more authentic with a few adjustments. The decoration was partly inappropriate and disrupted the concept, the children's corner seemed outdated, and the counter was a bit untidy - private items such as cell phones and keys were lying around openly. Wearing the thematic costumes was also not implemented consistently. A little background music and matching cutlery and glasses could round off the experience. If no public WiFi is offered for guests (perfectly okay), it would also make sense to make the internal WiFi invisible - then not all guests will ask for it. Overall, a nice restaurant with potential for improvements to make the theme even more atmospheric and consistent. We'll be back!

Great themed restaurant in Viking style. The service made an effort, the tone was curt and sounded very annoyed. The food was on the table shortly after the drinks, all the side dishes were kept warm (and cold) in the kitchen and the steak was OK. The flamed salmon, actually a signature dish, was out, as was the smoked chicken leg. The neighboring table also complained about the cold food. The salad plate was a 'handful' of iceberg lettuce floating in dressing and garnished with half an orange slice. (?) The restaurant definitely has potential, but unfortunately the implementation is anything but professional. It's a shame that there isn't enough more.

This was my third time here and it is my absolute favorite restaurant. Unfortunately it's almost 400km each way, otherwise I would be here more often. Both the event with live music and buffet as well as the food a la carte are simply incredibly delicious, you can taste that everything is homemade and fresh. Very nice atmosphere. We were there at 5 p.m., our food came quickly, but unfortunately it was only lukewarm. Portion size too small (I didn't get full), but the prices were pretty high. Salad is rather simple (just iceberg with dressing).

Something special for a tasteful evening. The food is great “home cooking” and noticeably freshly cooked. Of course you notice the meat burden in the buffet price, but you can't say anything negative about price-performance. Meat was tender, juicy and to the point (a special achievement in the buffet). The sauces were individual and the duck had a great orange note. The sauces and dressing were also well balanced. I would particularly highlight the sauce for the salmon, great freshness and good spice notes with great sensory properties.

We've been there four times in three years and we still feel very comfortable, it's a nice climate and very tasty food, the service was again really friendly and personable today. We will definitely come back because everything in this restaurant is just right for us.

The restaurant looks inconspicuous from the outside, but everything fits perfectly inside and you are overwhelmed by what a cozy location you can make out of such a building. The dishes are homemade and prepared with a lot of work and no matter what you try, you will like it. The portions are definitely filling and the price-performance ratio is also great with starters and desserts and some drinks remaining at around €50 per person. We were eating dishes from the menu with a larger group of people and everything came very quickly, no one was left out. The staff is attentive and caring. This restaurant is worth a visit.

It was a family evening. You feel in great hands and the food was served as a delicious buffet that evening.

Visiting here is a MUST if you are in the area. Ambience is quaint and great. The service from the shield maidens cannot be topped. The menu is something special - just like the recreated Viking longhouse. My tip is the Viking buffet. Check the dates before your visit!
