I really liked the Viking-themed location. Of course, they could have added more decorations in some places to immerse themselves even more deeply in this era. :) The food was great, and I was more than full. I'd love to go again.

The venue is beautifully designed, and the music is perfectly chosen. The food, however, would be far too expensive for the price, the quantity served, and the quality... All in all, it was a nice evening.

Great atmosphere, wonderful hosts, and above all, the food is of excellent quality. We drove 230 km to eat there, and it was worth it. Thumbs up!

Wahlhalla Viking Restaurant A truly authentic experience – I'd say 9 out of 10! ✨ The ambiance exudes real Viking charm, rustic, warm, and lovingly designed. It would have been a full 10 if the restrooms had also had a bit of that special flair. 😉 The service was okay, but could have brought a bit more of that open, welcoming Viking spirit – the "chef" (presumably it was him) certainly embodied this charm perfectly! 🛡️ The food itself was solid, home-style cooking – honest, filling, and all-around good. A place where you'll feel at home if you love down-to-earth food and a cozy atmosphere.

Difficult. The ambiance and service were good. Our email request for a table reservation went unanswered. Like last time, the fillet at Odin Rache was overcooked. It was simply dry. When asked if it could be cooked less often next time, the answer was "no, because it's pork fillet." Three people, three dishes, and three drinks totaled €95. The ambiance is great. But we won't be coming back. For the price, it's missing that certain something and great meat. Be sure to dress warmly. Dogs are welcome.

It wasn't our first time there, but it was our first time disappointed. Since we'd had good experiences at Walhalla before, we thought we'd spend an unusual evening with friends who weren't familiar with the restaurant. Unfortunately, I have to say that things didn't go as planned or as expected. The ambiance is, of course, unbeatable, and the service attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, we weren't satisfied with the food. No side salad (as usual), and the portions, with the exception of Thor's Thunderballs, were very small. There weren't many vegetables and potato wedges. The meat and side dishes were very tasty. However, the vegetables and potatoes weren't hot when they were brought to the table. For 4 people, 2x Odinn's Revenge, 1x Solveig's Dream, 1x Thor's Thunder Balls (simple, not XXL), 2x Cokes, 1x 0.5 liter and 3x 0.3 liter mead. Around €135. Wow!!!! I'm really willing to pay a little more for good food and a lovely evening in a great atmosphere, but this time we didn't think it was justified. Conclusion: We were quite disappointed, especially since we had traveled a good 35 km and wanted to spend a particularly lovely evening with our friends. We'll wait and see and then try again. It would be a shame to be disappointed again. Be sure to reserve a table. There's plenty of parking available.

The food was okay, but too simple for the price, and the vegan/vegetarian alternatives tasted like frozen food, which is a bit disappointing for the price. And vegetable patties or falafel should be something any chef could make quickly and deliciously themselves. The meat platter, yes, has a lot of meat, but most of it is cabbage and sauerkraut, and I think the prices are simply too high for that. I would have preferred the service to be more appropriately dressed and to adapt a bit to the language, so that you feel transported back in time, not just by the ambiance, which is very well done.

Price-performance ratio is right. The ambiance is simply unique.

Everything was absolutely perfect, a very nice atmosphere, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Personally, I just felt the "Thunder Balls" weren't moist enough; they were a bit dry. If you have a problem with lactose, just talk to the manager; there's always a solution.

OK, you have to like this kind of atmosphere. It's a good thing my wife reserved a table; I can only recommend it. Don't just drop in on a whim, otherwise you might have a problem finding space. I enjoyed my visit; a warrior is waiting for you at the entrance; the Norseman looks great. Once you walk into the restaurant, you feel like you've been transported back to that time. It looks like a big Viking hall. There are plenty of seats, but they were quickly taken up. The music is very subtle and doesn't bother you at all. It could be a bit louder for my taste, but it has to suit other guests too. The waiter came to us very quickly and took our drink orders. Odin's drink is a must, delicious stuff... I chose the food, ordered it, and suddenly it was there. At first I was worried that it would take a long time, with the number of guests, but less than 20 minutes later it was on the table. The quantity was more than sufficient and the taste... fantastic. We were really impressed. Highly recommended, it's just a shame we live so far away; we would be 100% regulars here. Keep up the good work, everyone, and I hope we see each other again soon. Great!

We stopped by the Walhalla restaurant for coffee and were absolutely thrilled. The harmonious ambiance is outstanding, and we'll definitely be back for dinner.

We had a wonderful time there. Great atmosphere, very friendly service, and truly delicious food. I can recommend Ragnar's Battle Axe (Tomahawk Steak) to everyone; it was absolutely delicious. Simply a wonderful evening.

We just came back from eating there. All I can say is, it's AMAZING. A unique location in Germany, just like this one. The owners are fantastic, thank you for the lovely evening. There's a lot of passion and dedication here. Many events are also held here. The food was top-notch, the portions were perfect. The prices are very good for the quality of the products. We have to say, "Unfortunately, it's amazing." You shouldn't miss Walhalla. We drove 1.5 hours and had no regrets. We'd go back anytime, if it weren't over 800km from home :-( You should make a reservation in advance, ideally two days in advance during the week and three days before the weekend.

Exceptional decor, great food and friendly service

We've been guests at Walhalla since it opened (July/August 2021), always enjoyed eating there regularly and often, and have celebrated countless events and concerts. Now we're back after about eight months because we weren't as drawn to it anymore. And I have to admit, I've never seen a restaurant go under like this one. Almost the entire service, counter, and kitchen staff have been replaced. Even long-standing regulars. The prices are almost like an upscale steakhouse: For example, Ragnar's kettle beef cooked in Guinness with peat morsels, used to be under 20 euros, now 24.50 euros!!! Before, there were also some main courses under or just over 20 euros. Today, there are none. A fairly simple rump steak with peat morsels and vegetables costs a whopping 35 euros (70 DM!!!). Two vegetable patties with peat morsels cost 16.50 euros. A simple 0.3l Coke costs €4.60. A simple 0.3l apple spritzer (although I could have ordered regular mineral water, as it didn't have any more flavor) costs €4.90. The current, young, female server is completely clueless. She doesn't even know the dishes on the menu. We had to show her the dish on the menu. My wife's special request (after the carpaccio she ordered was not "available"): she ordered two plain turkey schnitzels with herb butter and salad. What was delivered: the dish listed on the menu, "Solveig's Dream," that is, one plain turkey schnitzel with creamed carrots, peat wedges, and herb butter, even though she asked three times and we clearly stated it four times. The fact that the wrong dish was served was not addressed further, neither when serving nor when paying. After we'd eaten, the dishes had been cleared, and we'd been sitting at our table for some time (at least 45 minutes), the young lady came over and actually wanted to serve us three dishes of fried salmon. She apparently couldn't assign the ordered dishes to the correct table. Unfortunately, from our perspective, this was the last time we ate at Walhalla – partly because the price/performance ratio and the original concept were no longer up to scratch. Perhaps the owners should change the concept from a rather simple, down-to-earth Viking restaurant to an upscale BBQ steak restaurant with catering and a smoker. What a shame.

So, everything was absolutely perfect. Whether it was the food or the drinks, it was fantastic. The staff was also super friendly. It was by far the best thing we've done this year with our barbecue club.

Unfortunately, I have to revise my top reviews... I'm still struggling to keep my composure... We made a reservation well in advance, for 8 p.m. on a Friday evening, as we had an almost 2-hour (!) drive. According to their website, the restaurant is open until 10 p.m. I tried to call for the first time at 6:30 p.m. because we would be delayed due to traffic, but unfortunately, no one answered. After the third call attempt, I sent an email at 7 p.m. At 8:40 p.m., we were turned away at the entrance with the words that the reservation was for 8 p.m. and the kitchen was already closed. When we told them that we had called over an hour before the reservation, they replied, "It's crowded and loud here." Even our 2-hour drive was met with a "tough call" from the chef. We were seriously turned away 1.5 hours before closing time, despite having a reservation and being notified in good time! So, if they care so much about their customers, we'd rather spend our money elsewhere in the future. A unique ambiance with great attention to detail. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Even though we had a reservation at a popular time, we barely had to wait for our food. There's a good selection that makes it really hard to decide, so it's definitely worth more than one visit. They also cater to younger guests. The dishes were also very tasty 😋. We'll be back.

The ambiance is nice at first glance, but unfortunately, it doesn't stay that way. In places, the "old" restaurant decor peeks through (old counter, room doors, etc.). The food was okay, but nothing special for the price.

We had a long drive (near Cologne), and it was definitely worth it. Very dog-friendly. The ambiance, service, and food were top-notch. The portions were also generous, and I didn't think the prices were overpriced. I highly recommend it. And it's definitely on our return list.

The food was fantastic, and the service was truly excellent. The steak wasn't quite medium as requested, but they made up for it by reducing the price and giving us a Don Papa (rum) on the house.

What can I say? A perfect evening with my wife, with perfect food, and a brilliant shieldmaiden who served us. High praise to the master griller, the steak was exactly as requested (just a quick introduction to the grill). We'll definitely be back. We've already made our next reservation.

Waiting half an hour for the menu and another hour for the food is definitely too long. The ambience could have been improved with authentic materials instead of just painted wallpaper. It was also quite cool inside. A fireplace would certainly have been a solution.

We ate there at the weekend. The ambiance was undeniable, and the attention to detail was immediately noticeable. However, the food was unfortunately not that great for the price, so I'll have to go back. The food was either heavily spiced or not at all, and the portions were very meager (my husband said that if the Vikings ate like that, they would have lost every battle). The service was quick but very formal and seemed annoyed. We were served quickly; six dishes were on the table within ten minutes. We left the restaurant after an hour; what can I say, our quickest time at a restaurant. It was well attended but not full; the table had been reserved in advance. I thought it was just a bad day, but based on the other reviews, it probably happens more often. A shame.

We ate there for the first time last night with several people, actually expecting more. We were very disappointed. The food was like something from a commercial kitchen and was ready at the table after 10 minutes. When you think there's plenty, like the Vikings would have it, you're disappointed by both the taste and the presentation. I have no idea how some people can rate something so highly and so well. The service couldn't even smile and was very cold, like in a commercial kitchen, oh yeah, there's no service there. The price is overpriced. To get our fill, we had to go to a local restaurant with the children afterward. Overall, very disappointing. We won't recommend it to anyone. And we won't have such a "divine" meal there again.

If you like Vikings and the flair and ambiance, this is a very nice and lovingly decorated place. The service staff does a great job, always attentive, and asks if everything is to your satisfaction. Why not 5 stars? Unfortunately, in my specific case (Thor's Thunderballs), the cheese was very lacking in flavor. A strong cheese would have enhanced the flavor, as the minced meat was also subtly seasoned. However, the side dishes were convincing. I would like to emphasize that this is, of course, just my taste; otherwise, there is nothing wrong with it. Unfortunately, there was no flame-grilled salmon that day (important! It is also mentioned on the menu that it might be out of season). One tip that somewhat spoils the look is the menu instead of a clipboard. Perhaps a leather cover would have been stylish, but that's definitely just a tip and not a criticism. All in all, everyone should try this restaurant and get a feel for it :).

The host couple are super friendly, the ambiance is fantastic, the buffet was incredibly delicious, and the live music (this evening by the duo Pangea) created a great atmosphere and a good mood. We would be happy to come back and can definitely recommend it.

I've rarely eaten such a perfect steak. A truly delicious crust and perfectly cooked. Today was another truly delicious meal and a wonderful experience at Walhalla.

It was simply divine!!! The staff was super friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The food was a dream come true! The owner was not only kind and friendly, he also took the time to come to our table and chat with us, gave us tips, and explained a lot.

Unfortunately, you have to give at least one star, but they don't deserve any!! We paid €57.10 for 1x 0.5l Coke, 1x 0.3l Coke, 1x beef goulash with potato wedges, and 1x chicken leg with vegetables and potato wedges. If the food had been served as well and in a reasonable portion size, then the price would have been fine. But this is simply unacceptable! The portion of goulash was so small that it could only pass as a child's meal. And the chicken legs were so dry, they seemed to have simply been reheated (at least from the day before, if not older). We told the waitress our complaints, and she wanted to forward them to the kitchen. I hope this will help any future guests. For us, it was a complete disappointment!!!

Great event, mega location and very tasty food.

Simply brilliant 🤩 We went there for dinner as a family, two adults and two children (10 and 13 years old). The ambience is truly fantastic; you can see the attention to detail. The food was amazing. The rump steak was cooked to perfection (we requested medium-rare), perfectly seasoned, not too much, not too little, so that the flavor of the meat could still speak for itself. That's why I used the excellent herb butter on the beans and bacon instead of the steak. The peat wedges (potatoes) were perfectly prepared as a side dish. The turkey steak with carrots was also perfect, as was the fried salmon and the young bull steak. The service was also excellent and very friendly. You can also see the chef's passion for meat preparation and love of food, and we were able to learn something new from his stories. Thank you very much for the wonderful evening.

The waiters are authentically dressed and very friendly. I especially liked that the chef himself came by, wished us a good appetite, and asked if everything was to our satisfaction – a very nice guy! There were three of us there and we absolutely loved it. The food was incredibly delicious; I got goosebumps with almost every bite. The prices are absolutely fantastic, especially if, like me, you're used to prices from "big cities" (Hamburg/Bremen/Dortmund). I can only warmly recommend it; it won't be the last time we've been there; we'll definitely be back with more people.

Here, you sit at Odin's long table and dine in a Nordic atmosphere. Delicious, hearty food. Beer and mead are absolute musts! The cook will even come to your table personally if you're not full right away. :-) She'll change that immediately. Absolutely wonderful...

We were there for the very last time. My meal, "Donnerbalken," was partly cold and lukewarm! I even mentioned it, but no one seemed to care! I think it's borderline outrageous to then charge the full amount; that's not good service! By the way, when the food arrived, some cabbage fell on the table, which the younger waitress also ignored! We will definitely not be going back to this restaurant!

Today was our first visit, but certainly not our last. The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was first-class and served really quickly. The drinks were all top-notch, too. I had the mead and was very pleased. The price was perfectly reasonable. The menu doesn't have a huge selection of dishes, but the ones they had were truly excellent. We'll be back more often, that's for sure.

Perfect food, great service – worth every minute of the 260 km journey! The Walhalla Viking Restaurant in Großefehn impresses with its atmospheric ambiance, excellent food, and warm and attentive service. The long journey is especially worthwhile on the first and second Wednesday of every month, when unique themed events with live music and a buffet take place – from Celtic, Scottish, and Irish to Mongolian and Nordic Viking. An experience for all the senses! We will definitely be back.

We were there this evening! The ambiance is amazing! I've rarely seen so much attention to detail! Some of the food, unfortunately, wasn't that great! Sparsely seasoned, and a bit lean! The small one had potatoes with chicken pieces that were extremely dry and lacked seasoning! Thor's Thunderballs were amazing! I was able to swap my steak with my wife because she had the English and I had the well-done 🤣 The service was good, although a bit more (personality-wise) would have been great! All in all, it could have been a bad day! You pay for the ambiance, of course, so you should know that! We really liked the restaurant, so it's just about giving it 4 stars!

We were there today and had hoped for more. We had turkey schnitzel, which was too dry and the peat cakes were too cold. The venison goulash was unfortunately overcooked and the side dishes were also cold.

Phew, torn, so first of all, dogs are allowed without any problems. The food is absolutely delicious. Service is top-notch. Con: The price! For 3 people, the plate size is OK. If you're really hungry, you shouldn't eat there. The next question is what will we eat next? We were at 75 euros. Neighboring table: 3 people, 90 euros. Everyone had potatoes with vegetables and meat, regular drinks. Almost no other side dish. Everything comes with potatoes. Our child and the child at the neighboring table didn't like potatoes, so they only ate the meat. The potatoes were soaked in oil. The meat was really good and tasty. We came all the way from Berlin (because we're on vacation here), and not a single restaurant in Berlin has such exorbitant prices. I get a huge buffet for that money, so we were totally shocked. A second visit is out of the question for us. My child and husband were both still hungry. The stars go to the service, the ambiance, and the taste.

We were there on a normal restaurant day (without an event). What can I say: A unique, wonderful ambiance! You dine in the "great hall" with changing waiters and appropriate music at a pleasant volume. The only thing I found a bit disappointing was that, while the vegetarian selection was sufficient, I couldn't find any salad on the menu. In contrast, for a meat-heavy dish, the selection was very nice! It also feels much more in keeping with the theme. We'll definitely be back, despite the over an hour's drive away. 👍

The location and the ambiance are simply WORLD-CLASS. I was completely fascinated by the loving craftsmanship of the restaurant and the hand-painted paintings on the walls. Every detail was meticulously thought out, and I was truly impressed, like I was in a small museum 👍💯 The staff was super friendly and welcoming, the manager gave a lovely speech with her husband, and the live music was also really great and set the mood. Unfortunately, the buffet food wasn't to our taste. But the ambiance, the staff, and the atmosphere were definitely worth it, and we had a lovely evening. We will definitely come back and try the à la carte menu.

We recently visited Walhalla and were very satisfied. The taste was great, but the service was even better. Upon request, we even got a platter for four people, which isn't actually on the menu! Everyone was full and satisfied and even had some leftovers, which they easily wrapped up for us. ☺️

Apart from the ambiance, the evening was unfortunately very disappointing. The presentation of the dishes on the menu did not match what arrived on the plate. The potatoes were lukewarm, seasoned without salt, and mushy (presumably from a warming box). The pot roast was overcooked goulash and unfortunately had nothing to do with dry-aging. The spit roast turned out to be dry smoked pork, which, compared to canned sauerkraut, unfortunately resembled a soup in consistency... The coleslaw from a tub unfortunately didn't improve the dish either. I would have liked to give feedback to the kitchen, but (probably knowingly) the staff didn't ask about our well-being or the quality of the food. For this great service, our staff ultimately even calculated the tip... I wouldn't recommend eating there to anyone... The restaurant unfortunately doesn't live up to its motto...

We were there yesterday and stumbled upon the pirate event with live music by chance! AMAZING!!! The food (buffet), atmosphere, and the whole team... AWESOME! I WOULD ALSO GIVE IT 7 STARS!

We stumbled upon the Walhalla restaurant by chance. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. It's a very beautiful, interesting, and unusual setting. I can recommend it to everyone.

We discovered Walhalla by chance on the way to Neuharlingersiel and decided we wanted to stop there on the way back. So, the plan was put into action. The ambiance completely blew me away as a little Viking fan. Authentic decor; even the staff makes a point of dressing appropriately. The names of the dishes here are also very imaginative. I had Thor's Thunderballs, which I just barely managed, but had to send back the side dishes, which were more than plentiful. Although I did manage to eat the delicious cabbage and mushrooms. If you drive past without stopping here, it's your own fault. This is a must-try experience. We'd be happy to come back. Full marks!

Very friendly staff, great restaurant, highly recommended

Perfect! I was there with a friend on Corpus Christi. I had the thunder balls from the smoker, my friend a Steck. I love trying new things, and these were by far the best "meatballs" I've ever had. You could clearly taste the smoky flavor, something like a Krakow sausage. Overall, the ground meat had just the right consistency. Very juicy, but not too soft. The cheese core blended very well with the overall flavor. The side dishes consisted of sauerkraut and potato wedges, all very well done. When my friend ordered his steak, he was asked how well it was cooked; he chose medium, and he thought it was perfectly cooked. Both the owner and the (according to her, new) waitress were exceptionally friendly. Their demeanor, their personality, and their outfits perfectly fit the atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall, it was beautifully and quaintly decorated, offering a special experience in that respect as well. I was on vacation nearby and unfortunately can't come more often.
