Really good cuisine, delicious wines and absolutely warm people! Pino and Valentino are doing a great job! My allergies were taken into account perfectly.

We've been here a few times for dinner and recently celebrated our wedding at the Waldhuus. We couldn't have imagined a more beautiful location for the day. Valentino, Pino, and their team are fantastic hosts. The service is very attentive and leaves us with a smile on our faces after every visit. We spent a few days in Travemünde and deliberately wanted to discover a restaurant away from the tourist crowds – and stumbled upon the Waldhuus in Ratekau. What a stroke of luck! The food was truly delicious – fresh, lovingly prepared, and made with great ingredients. The cuisine impresses with its quality and taste. We would particularly like to highlight the service: Viktoria served us warmly, attentively, and very professionally. This makes you feel completely at home as a guest. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Travemünde with friendly service and excellent cuisine, the Waldhuus is the place to go. Highly recommended – we'd love to come back.

A beautiful, somewhat hidden restaurant. I could easily imagine celebrating wonderful weddings or other family celebrations here, given the beautiful ambiance. There's also a great terrace. We had a wonderful evening with fantastic food. My husband had the Wiener Schnitzel, which was very large, and I had the pike-perch fillet. For dessert, we had tiramisu and crème brûlée. The restaurant also offers wonderful wines. My favorite aperitif, however, is the Italicus. Simply delicious all around in a lovely atmosphere with first-class service!

Dinner after the civil wedding We went to the Waldhuus with 14 people on a Saturday to have dinner together after our civil wedding. They opened early especially for us, everything was superbly organized, and the food was perfect. Thank you so much for this perfect afternoon at the Waldhuus!

At first glance, it's a perfectly ordinary lemon: juicy yellow, with a smooth, shiny peel that exudes freshness and summer just by looking at it. Taste: But when you taste it... wow, it's an absolute blast! Instead of the expected sour bomb, there's an explosion of flavor: sweetness blends with a light acidity, an almost tingling texture envelops the palate, and in the end, a freshness remains that simply blows you away. Unusual, surprising—so much so that you immediately want another bite, just to make sure it really happened.

A lovely place for a chic evening out. Everything is just right here: the service, the food, the ambiance. The waitresses are very attentive, courteous, and friendly. I appreciated that the chef also made an appearance. The surroundings and even the restrooms are beautifully designed. The overall atmosphere is calm, sophisticated, and even romantic. The dishes are perfectly seasoned, not too salty; everything is very harmonious. The portions are also generous. I would come back here again and again.

The detour from the A1 was worth it. The Waldhuus was a complete success. The food is excellent, cooked to perfection, and worth every penny. Add to that the friendly, personable service. Highly recommended!

We went there for the first time and returned home with a very pleasant and tasteful evening. The food was delicious and also a feast for the eyes. The service was attentive and friendly. We made a last-minute reservation for the evening, which wasn't a problem. It wasn't crowded on the evening of our visit, but you should still call ahead to make a reservation. The only thing that bothered me about the ambiance was that the background conversation quickly spreads into the room, making it feel a bit noisy. For me, it's still a very high-quality restaurant and I definitely recommend it. I haven't had such a good meal in a long time.

A truly lovely ambiance—no question. However, the food wasn't good enough for the price. The carpaccio was far too sour, and the plaice fillet roll lacked character and was a bit boring. The dishes were actually good, but they promised more than they delivered. We were a little disappointed by these reviews.

We were there for dinner on Easter Sunday. The food and service were again great! The beautiful ambience invites you to linger. First there was bruschetta. Excellent and reasonable portion. We had dinner in the Waldhuus with three adults and a 3-year-old child. The food was very, very tasty, more than sufficient and very nicely prepared! Price-performance ratio was great! I would particularly like to highlight the great service! All the staff were very attentive, friendly and approachable! There were painting supplies for our daughter, everyone had a nice saying on their lips - and everything was very authentic! Always happy again - many thanks to the team!

We happened to get a table for Christmas and didn't know what would expect. The first impression was already good. The menu was "clear", but offered something for every taste. The next impression was very good because the staff looked after us intensively. The dishes we chose looked very appealing on the plates and also tasted excellent. We have rarely eaten so well. We were given great advice when choosing desserts, and what was then served to us was excellent. Although the prices initially seemed high, everything was absolutely worth it. We can only recommend the Waldhuus.

We are fans of the Waldhuus! We celebrated our wedding here in September with 34 people and had a perfect day. Since it would have been a bit too tight in the separate room, we had a long table in the main area. We were also allowed exclusive use of the terrace. Pino and Valentino took a lot of time with us in advance to respond to our wishes and ideas. They even cooked a special dish from Abruzzo for our menu. From the ambience to the food to the service and the beautiful wedding cake, everything was outstanding. Children are also warmly looked after. A visit is always worth it!

A solid restaurant with good food. However, there are also a few points that I would like to mention here. We received a very warm welcome and were shown to the beautifully set table. Everything is high quality, modern and clean. The service was busy and it took a moment before we could order. But that was okay. When it came to drinks, it was immediately noticeable that drinks were almost always delivered in 0.2L (Coke Zero). A large pilsner has 0.3L. I think that can be adjusted. The starter was six slices of bread with a dip. Unfortunately it wasn't explained here what it is. The appetizer we ordered came with a tapas plate (€16) and bruschetta (€8). Both were delicious, but the tapas plate for €16 was a bit manageable. The main course took another long time. Luckily for us, the waitress recognized this and asked in the kitchen. The ribeye steak medium was a bit overcooked but tasty. Unfortunately there were only five small potato wedges and some herb butter. For €32 you can also add a small side salad or a few more potatoes. In our opinion, the advertised Duroc steak (€28) was more of a fillet rolled in ham. There were no signs of pan contact on the Duroc. It was served in a deep bowl over mashed potatoes and a hint of vegetables. Unfortunately, the high edge of the bowl made it difficult to cut the meat and the mashed potatoes were hard to get out of the bowl. You would have needed a spoon here. We were charged for more things on the bill than we ordered. This has been adjusted according to our comments. When you go out to eat at an ordered price of €105, you not only expect delicious and filling food, but also excellent service. If you do this e.g. If you compare it to the Six Zero in Timmendorf or Newport in Lübeck, the Waldhuus unfortunately can't even begin to keep up, even though it's a little bit cheaper.

The atmosphere is very nice and the service is attentive and friendly. Unfortunately our food arrived 10 minutes after we ordered and was lukewarm. We also heard from the neighboring table that it could have been hotter. Beef cheeks were a bit greasy, but tender. Iberico steak was "okay". Unfortunately we weren't impressed with the food.

Today we went to the packed Waldhuus spontaneously and without a reservation. We received a very friendly welcome and were given a table. The starter and main course were very tasty and of good quality, the service was very attentive and friendly, but never intrusive. Price/performance is completely okay, we would like to come back at the next opportunity.

We have been guests at the Waldhuus several times and have always been thrilled with both the dishes and the service. The furnishings are stylish and very comfortable. You can sit both inside and outside. Because the location is somewhat more secluded, it is never uncomfortably crowded but is a true insider tip. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED.

An all-round successful restaurant where everything is just right: service, ambience and of course the food and drinks 🤩 we treated ourselves to three courses in the Waldhuus. We never do that, but we wanted to try each area. You could taste the love for the dishes, it was an experience for the taste buds! We'll definitely be back. Ratekau is just a stone's throw from the Baltic Sea. Stop visiting the tourist stalls and go to the Waldhuus!

Another culinary evening in a tasteful ambience with great, friendly hosts. The service was attentive and courteous - the food was creative and very, very tasty. We had Vitello, the ribeye with pimentos, bravas, mojo rojo and the Thai curry chicken. For dessert, lemon mousse with passion fruit core in limonicello stock… a little work of art. A visit that is always worth it!!!

The Waldhuus is characterized by a cozy atmosphere paired with delicious food. The service is attentive and friendly and not intrusive. The dishes we tried are all recommended: Juicy burger, good fish. Very good espresso. Not to forget the homemade bread with dip. I recommend booking in advance. If there are no free tables left, the staff knows how to deal with this skillfully. The time until a table becomes available is well estimated and visitors can wait at the bar with delicious drinks.

A somewhat remote but very chic restaurant, which combines estate style with modern interior design. The restaurant manager Pino makes every evening an experience with his charming and funny manner and the chef Valentino conjures up tasteful and beautiful dishes on the plate. Definitely worth recommending and everyone in the area should have eaten there.

We were able to celebrate our wedding in the Waldhuus with 60 guests of different ages. Valentino and Pino ensured that all of my wife and I's wishes were fulfilled right from the planning stage. They helped us plan the evening, distribute the tables and rooms, and select the menu and drinks. They also took care of the additional decorations themselves, which completed the evening perfectly. Our personal highlight was the home-baked wedding cake from the chef, who baked it exactly according to our wishes and ideas. In addition, the service and the entire food were to the complete satisfaction of all guests. We would like to thank the Waldhuus team for an unforgettable wedding celebration!

Sehr sehr zu empfehlen , hervorragende Küche " war nun öfters schon da. Parkplatz vor der Tür Und es wäre sinnvoll zu reservieren. Immer sehr gut besucht

Das seit März neu eröffnete Restaurant befindet sich mitten im Nirgendwo aber eine Reise dorthin lohnt sich alle mal das Essen war super und die Bedienungen echt klasse. Danke für einen wunderschönen Abend.
