Waldhuus in Ratekau

Was für ein Geheimtipp mitten im Nichts. Da habe ich ehrlicher Weise nicht mit gerechnet. Mit einem herzlichen Empfang wurden wir zu unserem schönen Platz geleitet. Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich. Ob man drinnen sitzt oder bei schönem Wetter draußen im tollen Garten. Das gesamte Ambiente würde ich als gehoben bezeichnen. Die Beratung zum Essen oder Wein war bestens. Das Essen selber, wir hatten Aperitifs, ein Wiener Schnitzel und ein Ripeyesteak und Wein, war einwandfrei und lecker. Wenn ich daran denke, würde ich am liebsten direkt wieder hin. Lecker! Preislich lagen wir ingesamt bei rund hundert Euro für zwei Personen. Herrschaften, zieht Euch was schönes an und auf geht's. Ich kann kann dieses Restaurant wärmstens empfehlen und wünsche Euch dabei einen schönen Abend.

Wir haben auf Empfehlung dieses herrlich und idyllisch gelegene Waldhuus Restaurant heute besucht. Dieses macht einen sehr gepflegten Eindruck und die Tische waren schön mit frischen Blümchen geschmückt. Man kann auch herrlich auf der schönen Terrasse sitzen. Zuerst bekamen wir auf Kosten des Hauses nach italienischer Art zwei verschiedene selbst gebackene, total leckere Brote mit einem köstlichen Knoblauchaufstrich gereicht. Der Rotbarsch war sehr dekorativ angerichtet und schmeckte himmlisch, dasselbe galt für den fantastischen Wolfsbarsch. Die Krönung war dann die Creme brulee mit Erdbeersorbet sowie ein auf der Zunge zergehendes Tiramisu, welches mir z.T. noch eingepackt wurde, weil es so eine große Portion war. Convience Produkte sucht man dort vergebens! Der Service war exzellent. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können dieses Restaurant wärmstens empfehlen!

Sehr leckeres Essen, tolles Ambiente und freundlicher Service. Wir hatten einen schönen sehr leckeren Abend - sehr zu empfehlen! Ich hatte den Lachs und war extrem überrascht wie lecker er zubereitet war.

Alles wirklich ausgezeichnet: Wein, Essen, Service. Einziges Manko, keinen weißen Grappa auch die Alternative Calvados fehlt. Trotzdem jederzeit einen Besuch wert, wenn man die Einsamkeit eines Reiterhofs mag. 18.07. 2026 Inzwischen ist grappa bianca im Angebot. Die Küche nach wie vor sehr gut und die Bedienung ebenfalls. Glückwunsch auch zu der reichhaltigen Auswahl an Flaschenweinen. Dem Betreiber Pino meinen Dank für einen weiteren schönen Abend.

Ein Geheimtipp, der wohl lange mehr kein Geheimtipp mehr bleiben wird - es überzeugt einfach das Konzept, das leckere, liebevoll angerichtete Essen und die freundliche Bedienung. Einziges Manko, nach den optisch und geschmacklich umwerfenden Vorspeisen fallen die Hauptgerichte in der Optik und Raffinesse der Kreation leicht ab. Dafür überzeugen dann wieder die Desserts - z.b. das „Snickers“, welches einfach toll zusammengestellt und auf den Punkt die Aromen getroffen hat.

Das Konzept ist sehr durchdacht und man merkt, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. Der Service war großartig. Ein besonderes Dankeschön geht an Victoria, die uns mit ihrer charmanten und aufmerksamen Art, den Abend versüßt hat. Mein persönliches Highlight war die wirklich makellos saubere Küche. Es ist beeindruckend zu sehen, mit welcher Sorgfalt und Hygiene hier gearbeitet wird. Das gibt einem ein rundum gutes Gefühl. Das Essen ist nicht nur geschmacklich ein Traum, sondern wird auch mit viel Liebe zum Detail angerichtet, auf einem Niveau, das an ein Sternerestaurant erinnert. Wir waren rundum begeistert vom Restaurant Waldhuus. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet – frisch, hochwertig und geschmacklich hervorragend zubereitet. Auch das Ambiente Ambiente gefällt uns sehr: gemütlich, stilvoll und mit einer angenehmen Atmosphäre zum Wohlfühlen. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir die Gastgeber, die uns äußerst freundlich und herzlich empfangen haben. Man spürt, dass hier Gastfreundschaft großgeschrieben wird. Wir haben unseren Besuch sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder. Klare Empfehlung für alle, die gutes Essen in einem schönen Ambiente und mit herzlichem Service schätzen!

Ein sehr gemütliches Restaurant mitten im Wald. Ich habe selten so ein gutes Vitello Tonnato gegessen. Der Service war sehr freundlich. In Deutschland kommt es schon mal vor, dass man nach einer Stunde wieder draußen steht, aber das war hier definitiv nicht der Fall.

Wir waren auf Empfehlung eines Bekannten dort.Nur leider hat es mich nicht abgeholt.Als Vorspeise 2 Bruschetta auf dem Teller für 9,50€ und Geschmacklich nicht so toll.Hauptgericht Wiener Schnitzel 33€,leider auch nicht so toll.Vom Fleisch selber nichts wahrgenommen, weil die Panade überwogen hat und nach nichts geschmeckt hat.Leider.Und das sagten 3 weitere Familienmitglieder,die das selbe Gericht hatten.Es ist ein schönes Restaurant,freundliche Bedienung.Möchte das Waldhuus nicht schlecht machen,denke auf die Qualität der Produkte wird geachtet.Nur an dem Tag konnte man uns 4 mit dem Wiener Schnitzel nicht glücklich machen.

Der Service war nicht nur aufmerksam und professionell, sondern einfach ein echtes, wunderbares Erlebnis – so viel Herzlichkeit und Präsenz erlebt man selten. Die Vorspeise war bereits ein geschmackliches Highlight, und das Fleisch war perfekt auf den Punkt gegart – zart, aromatisch und eine wahre Geschmacksexplosion. Jeder Gang war mit so viel Liebe und Qualität zubereitet, dass man es wirklich bei jedem Bissen spüren konnte. Ein ganz besonderes Dankeschön auch an den Chef persönlich und den Chefkoch – man merkt, mit wie viel Leidenschaft hier gearbeitet wird. Our expectations were high, and we weren't disappointed. Excellent, delicious food plus great service. The ambiance completes the experience. It's a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it. We'll be back.

A bit out of the way, but pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. The food doesn't live up to the prices. For example, the bao bun with 24-hour braised pork belly didn't match the description. It was more like cold roast pork in a reheated bun. A shame!

Absolutely fantastic. Wonderful food, great ambiance, friendly and very attentive service. The noise level was absolutely moderate despite the tables being full. Very tastefully decorated and furnished. About the food: Even the homemade bread to start with was a highlight, but the delicious beef tartare and the Beerenauslese wine for dessert were truly perfect. I'm extremely happy about this new restaurant discovery :)

5 stars – A true gem, 18 km from Travemünde! We spent a few days in Travemünde and deliberately wanted to discover a restaurant away from the tourist crowds – and stumbled upon the Waldhuus in Ratekau. What a stroke of luck! The food was truly delicious – fresh, lovingly prepared, and made with great ingredients. The cuisine impresses with its quality and taste. We would particularly like to highlight the service: Viktoria served us warmly, attentively, and very professionally. This makes you feel completely at home as a guest. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Travemünde with friendly service and excellent cuisine, the Waldhuus is the place to go. Highly recommended – we'd love to come back.

A beautiful, somewhat hidden restaurant. I could easily imagine celebrating wonderful weddings or other family celebrations here, given the beautiful ambiance. There's also a great terrace. We had a wonderful evening with fantastic food. My husband had the Wiener Schnitzel, which was very large, and I had the pike-perch fillet. For dessert, we had tiramisu and crème brûlée. The restaurant also offers wonderful wines. My favorite aperitif, however, is the Italicus. Simply delicious all around in a lovely atmosphere with first-class service!

Dinner after the civil wedding We went to the Waldhuus with 14 people on a Saturday to have dinner together after our civil wedding. They opened early especially for us, everything was superbly organized, and the food was perfect. Thank you so much for this perfect afternoon at the Waldhuus!

At first glance, it's a perfectly ordinary lemon: juicy yellow, with a smooth, shiny peel that exudes freshness and summer just by looking at it. Taste: But when you taste it... wow, it's an absolute blast! Instead of the expected sour bomb, there's an explosion of flavor: sweetness blends with a light acidity, an almost tingling texture envelops the palate, and in the end, a freshness remains that simply blows you away. Unusual, surprising—so much so that you immediately want another bite, just to make sure it really happened.

A lovely place for a chic evening out. Everything is just right here: the service, the food, the ambiance. The waitresses are very attentive, courteous, and friendly. I appreciated that the chef also made an appearance. The surroundings and even the restrooms are beautifully designed. The overall atmosphere is calm, sophisticated, and even romantic. The dishes are perfectly seasoned, not too salty; everything is very harmonious. The portions are also generous. I would come back here again and again.

We went there for the first time and returned home with a very pleasant and tasteful evening. The food was delicious and also a feast for the eyes. The service was attentive and friendly. We made a last-minute reservation for the evening, which wasn't a problem. It wasn't crowded on the evening of our visit, but you should still call ahead to make a reservation. The only thing that bothered me about the ambiance was that the background conversation quickly spreads into the room, making it feel a bit noisy. For me, it's still a very high-quality restaurant and I definitely recommend it. I haven't had such a good meal in a long time.

A truly lovely ambiance—no question. However, the food wasn't good enough for the price. The carpaccio was far too sour, and the plaice fillet roll lacked character and was a bit boring. The dishes were actually good, but they promised more than they delivered. We were a little disappointed by these reviews.

We had dinner in the Waldhuus with three adults and a 3-year-old child. The food was very, very tasty, more than sufficient and very nicely prepared! Price-performance ratio was great! I would particularly like to highlight the great service! All the staff were very attentive, friendly and approachable! There were painting supplies for our daughter, everyone had a nice saying on their lips - and everything was very authentic! Always happy again - many thanks to the team!

We happened to get a table for Christmas and didn't know what would expect. The first impression was already good. The menu was "clear", but offered something for every taste. The next impression was very good because the staff looked after us intensively. The dishes we chose looked very appealing on the plates and also tasted excellent. We have rarely eaten so well. We were given great advice when choosing desserts, and what was then served to us was excellent. Although the prices initially seemed high, everything was absolutely worth it. We can only recommend the Waldhuus.

We are fans of the Waldhuus! We celebrated our wedding here in September with 34 people and had a perfect day. Since it would have been a bit too tight in the separate room, we had a long table in the main area. We were also allowed exclusive use of the terrace. Pino and Valentino took a lot of time with us in advance to respond to our wishes and ideas. They even cooked a special dish from Abruzzo for our menu. From the ambience to the food to the service and the beautiful wedding cake, everything was outstanding. Children are also warmly looked after. A visit is always worth it!

The furnishings are designed with great attention to detail - modern, comfortable and perfectly coordinated. The surrounding area is ideal for nature lovers, whether for a walk in the countryside or simply to relax. The service was excellent: attentive, friendly and unobtrusive. You can tell that people work here with heart.

A solid restaurant with good food. However, there are also a few points that I would like to mention here. We received a very warm welcome and were shown to the beautifully set table. Everything is high quality, modern and clean. The service was busy and it took a moment before we could order. But that was okay. When it came to drinks, it was immediately noticeable that drinks were almost always delivered in 0.2L (Coke Zero). A large pilsner has 0.3L. I think that can be adjusted. The starter was six slices of bread with a dip. Unfortunately it wasn't explained here what it is. The appetizer we ordered came with a tapas plate (€16) and bruschetta (€8). Both were delicious, but the tapas plate for €16 was a bit manageable. The main course took another long time. Luckily for us, the waitress recognized this and asked in the kitchen. The ribeye steak medium was a bit overcooked but tasty. Unfortunately there were only five small potato wedges and some herb butter. For €32 you can also add a small side salad or a few more potatoes. In our opinion, the advertised Duroc steak (€28) was more of a fillet rolled in ham. There were no signs of pan contact on the Duroc. It was served in a deep bowl over mashed potatoes and a hint of vegetables. Unfortunately, the high edge of the bowl made it difficult to cut the meat and the mashed potatoes were hard to get out of the bowl. You would have needed a spoon here. We were charged for more things on the bill than we ordered. This has been adjusted according to our comments. When you go out to eat at an ordered price of €105, you not only expect delicious and filling food, but also excellent service. If you do this e.g. If you compare it to the Six Zero in Timmendorf or Newport in Lübeck, the Waldhuus unfortunately can't even begin to keep up, even though it's a little bit cheaper.

Very attentive service, good wines and very tasty dishes. Recommended.

Delicious food, friendly attentive service

The atmosphere is very nice and the service is attentive and friendly. Unfortunately our food arrived 10 minutes after we ordered and was lukewarm. We also heard from the neighboring table that it could have been hotter. Beef cheeks were a bit greasy, but tender. Iberico steak was "okay". Unfortunately we weren't impressed with the food.

Nice cozy restaurant, great service, friendly without being intrusive. Absolutely okay in terms of taste and price for this level! A special evening in a special place.

Simply super delicious food! We had the surprise menu and were absolutely satisfied. Very nice service. Good advice regarding wines. Price increased accordingly to the service. We'll definitely be back!

Super tasty, very nice staff, we would love to come back

Today we went to the packed Waldhuus spontaneously and without a reservation. We received a very friendly welcome and were given a table. The starter and main course were very tasty and of good quality, the service was very attentive and friendly, but never intrusive. Price/performance is completely okay, we would like to come back at the next opportunity.
