The rooms are basic, and some furniture has some minor imperfections. Housekeeping ensures that the room and bathroom are clean and tidy every day.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing visit. The hotel is outdated; how they maintain their 4-star rating is beyond me! We booked a deluxe double room. The room in the main building is near the restaurant/bar, and until 11 p.m., you can hear the constant movement of chairs and tables, making it impossible to sleep before that time because weddings or other events are taking place and large groups are present. The food in the restaurant is outrageous for the price. Our waiter forgot our drink. The food in our canteen is better. The food is comparable to ready-made/frozen food. The only positive thing was the friendly waitresses at breakfast.

We were just eating, and unfortunately, the waiter seemed to have no interest in serving us at all. After placing our order and the food being brought (by another person, incidentally), we didn't see our assigned waiter again. After telling the waiter that we wanted to pay, we went to the cashier after 30 minutes and were still ignored... Honestly, that was the first and last time we ate there. It's a shame, actually.

Beautiful hotel, and a stunning location in the middle of the forest. We went on a lovely hike from the hotel... be sure to bring your hiking poles because of the climbing and descending. The rooms are lovely, and I had a beautiful forest view🥰 The food was fantastic, and the staff was super friendly! And a generous breakfast... I'd love to come back here again.

A well-maintained hotel. We had a spacious, well-maintained room in a separate building with a nice bathroom (306). At 27 degrees Celsius, the room temperature was comfortable. The curtains were nice, but a bit poorly hung. The breakfast was reasonable, with attention to the bread. Dinner: starter and dessert were good. The main course was very mediocre. Lovely garden.

We had a great room. Coffee and tea were provided. The room was clean, and the bathroom looked good. There was a small refrigerator, but it didn't work. The location was pleasant, especially for nature lovers. It was the peaceful setting we were looking for. In short: our stay was worth it.

We also saw her do the same to someone else when we were leaving and ask them when they were leaving. Does this really seem unacceptable...to just walk in like that...because she's probably in a hurry to clean up so she can get home quickly?

A lovely hotel for a getaway, with plenty of nature nearby. The hotel itself is well-maintained, not worn out, but a bit dated. The food was superior to some other Fletcher hotels—a truly pleasant surprise! Our ground-floor room had no ventilation or air conditioning, so the temperature barely dropped at night with a wide-open window. It was manageable, but not exactly comfortable. The EV charging station (1) apparently hasn't been working for a while because a customer forgot to return their pass.

The worst service in the world and the worst receptionist (Olha)! We booked a suite (room) at the Fletcher Waldhotel Nordrhein-Westfalen! through Booking.com.... We arrived at the hotel, the receptionist was not professional or friendly at all. We went up to the room... there was trash from before in the trash can... we went down to the reception... the receptionist came up, took the trash can, and didn't bring it back.... Now, the best surprise!: The two small refrigerators (minibar - kitchen refrigerator) in the room didn't work in August. We spoke to the receptionist and the answer was: The refrigerators are not in use! (I've never heard that excuse). We asked for a solution (there is no solution and there is no other room available) and it is Booking.com's fault for misinforming us!! that the refrigerators in the hotel don't work! The receptionist is a person with no qualities and doesn't even know how to solve the problems. In the end, we decided to leave the hotel and drive two hours home. A terrible experience. Booked for nostalgic reasons (my first stay was 11 years ago). Unfortunately, it's now clearly noticeable that the hotel is showing its age. In my opinion, the apartments no longer meet 4-star standards: The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the fold-out couch unstable and barely usable even for a child. The refrigerator got extremely hot, the air conditioning didn't work, and an unpleasant sewer smell permeated the room when the window was open. A coffee maker and kettle were available, but small touches like bottled water or bathroom amenities that you'd expect in this category weren't. Communication also left a lot to be desired: The booking instructions were apparently not read, the crib wasn't prepared, and towels were missing – everything was only provided after I asked. The food was not convincing in terms of taste or quality; the breakfast is okay, but personally, I found it overpriced and unexceptional. We still made the most of our stay and enjoyed our time, but we wouldn't choose the hotel again for longer stays or for dining. It may be sufficient for a single overnight stay, but it does not live up to its claim as a 4-star hotel.

Didn't book a standard room. The room I booked was excellent. Meal prices are on the high side. However, the kitchen is recommended. The maintenance of the garden for guests needs some attention. Sweeping leaves would give it a neater impression.

I spent one night at the hotel. Basically, there's nothing to complain about. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. They try to please guests as best they can. Lunch was good. Breakfast was very plentiful. The staff was again very friendly. Nevertheless: My room was supposed to be ready at 3:00 PM. Due to a lack of cleaning staff, I couldn't get into it until around 4:45 PM. Likewise, a certain level of cleanliness is required (which bothered me personally). Cigarette butts were lying on the floor outside the ashtray (entrance to the beer garden/stairs). Okay, it's the guests who DON'T hit the ashtray. Paper cups and paper towels are lying around in the outdoor area facing the forest. Here, too, it's the guests who are responsible. But it's also the job of the staff (whoever they are) to rectify this problem. One or two rounds per day might be enough. Unfortunately, there isn't such staff, as management doesn't fill vacant positions. In the evening, I had the feeling that a maximum of three people were managing the entire hotel (reception, beer garden, restaurant, etc.). There were simply too few staff for such a demanding standard.

Beautiful hotel, great, quiet location with ample parking. Like all Fletchers in newly acquired hotels, it's neat but dated. After a few months under the Fletcher group, you start to notice a lack of maintenance, which is always a shame, as almost all Fletchers have this problem. Leaking faucets, loose light bulbs, and toilet paper holders, etc. The rooms and the rest of the hotel were all clean when we visited.

The Waldhotel is a great hotel. The staff was friendly. They're probably short-staffed, as there were only two waiters in the evening. We waited outside for almost 25 minutes, and no one had come yet. If you walk to the bar, you'll get a drink sooner! The room was spacious and very clean. However, there's no air conditioning, which isn't ideal in these temperatures. It's very warm in the room. We had already opened the room and bathroom windows facing each other. However, guests tend to stay outside for long periods, making it impossible to sleep. You have to park your bikes outside, near the entrance. The breakfast is truly fantastic!

Disappointing stay. Upon arrival, we waited outside on the terrace for half an hour, but no staff came to help us. The room had no air conditioning or fan, and was far too warm. In the evening, there was a sewage smell outside, but we had to keep the window open because of the heat inside. The sink drain also smelled of sewage. One of the two blankets smelled of urine (no joke), and the duvet cover had a hole in it. Beautiful surroundings for walking or cycling, but otherwise, there's little to do. Not recommended.

Clean, spacious rooms (301), great bathroom (walk-in shower), large flat-screen TV, and absolutely quiet. The furnishings are a bit dated, but clean and intact. The price/performance ratio is absolutely ok.

The room was clean and had coffee and tea facilities. Our son's bed creaked quite a bit, and the mattress was very thin. The air conditioning barely worked. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The staff was very friendly.

Great hotel. Beautiful surroundings. We had room 308 in the conference center. It has a sitting area with a two-seater sofa and a Smart TV with live streaming. It was a bit warm everywhere, and there was no air conditioning. So I'm curious what it would be like when it's also hot outside. The restaurant staff seemed a bit disinterested and awkward. Breakfast was extensive.

Super nice hotel!! Located in the forest

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The hotel is in a quiet location, with a pleasant and sophisticated atmosphere and a great beer garden. It's a good base for exploring the Ruhr region, including the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, the Hagen Open-Air Museum, Duisburg harbor cruises, and Lake Baldeney.

Nice apartment, air conditioning, refrigerators, TVs upstairs and downstairs, everything spacious and clean. Clear escape route. Few outlets for chargers. Very friendly staff, excellent kitchen. Recommendation: felt pads under the chairs in the restaurant. In short: well worth it.

We had requested two single beds in advance, but at reception they told us the room was a single bed with a king-size mattress. We could change, but that meant we'd be in a hot attic room. This seemed like the best option, since we're friends, not a couple. The tiny windows in the hot attic could be opened, but there were wasp nests in the frames. Opening a window wasn't pleasant. We eventually moved to another attic room where wasps weren't at all the windows. At reception, they explained that everyone at home had wasps too, so there wasn't anything they could do about it. (They might consider mosquito screens, perhaps.) We asked for a fan at reception, and despite the noise, we slept in a comfortable bed.

Beautiful hotel in a peaceful wooded setting. We didn't get a standard room, but an apartment: plenty of space and luxury, on the ground floor, a desk, a round dining table, and somewhat soft beds.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning wooded setting. The staff speaks both German and Dutch, and they're very friendly and helpful. There's a lovely outdoor area for a cup of coffee or a beer. Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit 😁

Super nice hotel, very friendly service, however the surroundings were not our thing.

We stayed here for four nights and it was wonderful. The room was great and the beds were excellent. Even though it wasn't very warm outside, the room was constantly very warm. It's a shame, though, that there's only one charging station for electric cars, and it's broken! We had both breakfast and dinner at Heiligenhaus. You can get breakfast for €6. Better than the €21 per person at the hotel. Heiligenhaus has several excellent restaurants with German prices. Very affordable, so to speak. We will definitely be back, especially because this is a very dog-friendly hotel! Our Gizzi had a wonderful time too. You can walk straight from the hotel into the woods.

All in all, good, nice room. Clean hotel, good food and drinks. One staff member was a bit more interested than the other, but not the Fletcher experience we expected. Massages were advertised on the website, but they weren't available. "We're too young for them," was the answer. A bit disappointing, but for those who enjoy them, there is a sauna. Furthermore, you're quite close to Essen, Wuppertal, Düsseldorf, and Oberhausen, so there's always something to do. All in all, a great hotel with friendly service... but not a Fletcher, which is what Fletcher generally feels like.

The room had a refrigerator that didn't work, which was a shame. The noisy cooling or extractor fan on the ground floor near the restaurant was annoying, both in the room and on the terrace. Everything else was fine, including breakfast.

Indeed, the air conditioning didn't work very well. Unfortunately, there was no internet on the 18th, which was a shame, because I didn't hear the receptionist call until the next day to say there was no internet. So you're without internet all evening, and there's no Dutch television, which is a drawback. The refrigerator doesn't cool optimally. A little work on that and it will truly be a top-notch hotel.

Beautiful hotel, everything looks well-maintained. The room in the new building (luxury) was nice, spacious, and even had a refrigerator. Nespresso machine and kettle. The bathroom was spacious, and everything worked well. A good choice for a stay. Breakfast was good; it wasn't too busy, so everything was well stocked (other reviews indicated that some items ran out if you had breakfast a bit later). However, there were clear problems with the food. At lunchtime, you received a dinner menu and no lunch dishes. We speak good German, so we could follow what other guests (Germans) were asking, and then they did receive a lunch menu. Very strange. The small menu is also very expensive, especially by German standards, but also by Dutch standards. A schnitzel with fries for 28 euros? As mentioned, the regular menu was very limited. If you couldn't eat everything, you had little choice and it was very expensive. If you looked at the reviews and saw photos from a year ago, you'd see some really nice dishes, but nothing of that remains. The staff is friendly but clearly doesn't know how to handle this situation. So, my final advice: stay overnight with breakfast, but if nothing changes, don't eat there. The staff could be more helpful about the dining options. There are plenty of places to eat in the village. One recommendation: Hermes, Greek but modern. Very good. It's a 1.3 km walk, a bit of a climb, but easily doable. (There are parking spaces in the village behind the main street.) Update: Everyone complains about the lack of staff and the expensive food. Yet, you see the reviews scoring highly. I've reread TripAdvisor and Google. The 8.6 Fletcher gives itself is mainly based on the old reviews from before it was owned by Fletcher. Complaints about the expensive and mediocre food are still there (just read the reviews).

Dated room, where it was very warm (while it was 20 to 25 degrees outside). Very dusty and a bit musty, otherwise fine. Beautiful surroundings, you can walk nicely. We did not use the restaurant or breakfast (found 21 pp very expensive for breakfast)

I was there for a training session followed by a barbecue. The rooms are very nice and the garden is wonderful. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

We had a great night! A friendly welcome at the reception, a nice room and we had a delicious meal. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic. The breakfast buffet was also great. The room was equipped with air conditioning according to the description and since it was very warm, that would have been nice. Unfortunately it was a portable cooler that did not have the capacity to do anything about it. And unfortunately the bathroom door did not close normally but had to be locked. Small points that could have made the stay just a little more pleasant.

Pleasant room, excellent beds, good carpet, Nespresso coffee machine and kettle. The bathroom facilities in our room (in the number 80 series) are dated. Check-in took a bit long, but polite. Location is good, we can walk straight into nature with our dog. No air conditioning, but that's what we chose and the price reflects that. Exceptionally well-prepared dinners, on a very spacious terrace. Very tasteful and pleasant. Excellent and smooth service. Good Italian (Primitivo) wine. Sauna and steam cabin available for a small fee. Highly recommended.

We spent two nights at the hotel. The location is truly beautiful, with a tennis club, a golf course, and a small adjacent forest right next door. The hotel itself also makes a well-maintained impression overall. However, a few things somewhat marred our stay. The carpets inside unfortunately appear very unhygienic, which can be particularly unpleasant for allergy sufferers. Our room was generally fine, but extremely hot; there was neither air conditioning nor a functioning refrigerator. Upon inquiry, we were told that all the refrigerators in the building had been removed because they weren't powerful enough. Therefore, we lost one star. We sweated at night and unfortunately couldn't even open the windows, as we had the forest area directly in front of us and unfortunately, there was no insect screen on the window. The sink in the bathroom was extremely yellow and worn. The courtyard with the restaurant is beautifully designed and invites you to dine outdoors. Unfortunately, there is no opportunity for a short stroll there, as the entire area is used for the restaurant. It was also a shame that some of the outdoor tables were very dirty and therefore unusable. Extremely thin walls meant that we could hear every time someone entered or left their room. Fortunately, it wasn't busy that day, and we were able to find some peace and quiet. Overall, a hotel with a beautiful location and potential – with a little more attention to detail and maintenance in the rooms and outdoor areas, our stay would have been much more pleasant.

Great hotel to go to once. The hotel is located in a quiet and nice place with enough sporting events. The location is very old and the rooms were also very old. A light switch in the hallway did not work so it stayed on. Both the breakfast and dinner were of good quality! Service in the restaurant is not so good. Staff was very unfriendly to me (bald little man who served the tables in the evening).

After reading the reviews I come to the conclusion that exactly the same complaints that we experienced have already been described by kokkie kok. A month ago these people were residents of room 76, we now of room 93. The service of the restaurant needs a German catering education. Uninterested taking of the order. A Dame Blance is really on the menu. In addition the following: For a beer and a good plate of food you can go to the tennis court. Also good is the Greek restaurant Hermes which is within walking distance.

Wonderful location...good service...some rooms are a bit shabby and seem a bit thrown together...some carpets are stained, which looks rather unclean. Great breakfast...otherwise, there are sometimes long waits for food. Overall, good.

The rooms and service are top-notch. The wellness area could use some renovation. The paint is peeling from the ceiling in the relaxation area—the whole thing has a bit of a 70s feel to it—what a shame.

Charging station for electric car out of order !!! No breakfast possible before 8:00 in the morning! I had to leave at 7:30. I was offered a packed lunch. Quiet and a beautiful location.

We were allowed to stay in room 24, somewhat dated in appearance, but with a great and spacious bed. Nice and firm. Had to use a second pillow to be able to lie down properly, but we are used to that in most hotels. The bathroom was hypermodern with a spacious bath, neat shower and spacious sink. The view of the garden was good. Also a beautiful area for cycling, we enjoyed more than 100 km of the area in 2 days and on the way back from Vohwinkel took a ride on the Schwebebahn of Wuppertal. Beautiful experience in a boring city.

The hotel is under new management and we wanted to give it a try. We only went there for dinner. Unfortunately, we weren't satisfied with the service and the very bland food. I wouldn't go there again.

We booked room 26 via holiday auction, 2 nights. nice hotel with somewhat outdated rooms, toilet seat was in half, reported to reception but nothing could be done about it, only change rooms. We preferred to stay in the same room even though it had not been changed or new towels, the card also appeared to no longer work after 2 the first night. All in all a nice hotel that could have a lot of improvement with the right management. There are also nice restaurants in Heiligenhaus that you can go to.

What a beautiful environment, you feel like you are in the forest but you are on the edge of the city. -the staff was friendly, but most of them were very unintelligible, even though I can speak a fair word of German. - Room was tidy - bed was very hard, when my husband turned over it woke me up - it was very hot and impossible to cool even with all windows open. - I missed a cup to drink coffee/tea from, I think the paper cups are really poor and only 2 cups - I also missed a washcloth to wash myself - the restaurant looked neat from a distance, but when we sat by the window there were a number of dead flies that were still there the next day. - the chairs were heavy and made a lot of noise when sitting down. - I thought the price ratio was too expensive for the amount of food - breakfast buffet was ordinary but had enough of everything. - your plate is taken away from under your nose without asking - I had something lying around, went to get something to drink and my sandwich was gone.

Just okay, food was disappointing, both main course evening and breakfast morning, room room a bit stale. For an overnight stay, a neat and nice location to reach the major cities by car. Enough parking spaces. Shops nearby.

Great hotel, we had a nice room/apartment. Everything was clean, nice and tidy. We also really liked our view of the chestnuts. Upon departure, the receptionist saw that we had had breakfast, which was not the case. Someone had accidentally or deliberately given our room number at breakfast. Hotels in general need to change this, too much fraud is committed by guests. Checking breakfast, drinks and dinner must be done with the digital room card. In this day and age you can no longer simply believe people regarding the room number provided. Trust is nice, but unfortunately it is no longer possible. We will definitely come back here again.

I recently stayed at this hotel for the first time with my family and had a pleasant experience. We booked two comfort rooms, both of which were spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The rooms included all essential amenities and offered a lovely view of the surrounding greenery. Access to the hotel was easy, and there was ample parking available either within the premises or nearby. The staff was helpful and provided the necessary information, although a warmer, more personal touch could have added. Perhaps through a few more smiles, it would have enhanced the overall experience. We particularly enjoyed taking walks through the nearby farms and woods, which added a charming, nature-filled touch to our stay. It was a refreshing experience, and I would definitely consider returning. I’d also recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing short retreat.

Room no. 52 is very nice and complete with corner bath, whirlpool and TV and starry sky, which costs a bit, but then you get what you pay for. Reception fine and correct. Restaurant critical note, too expensive and schnitzel 28 euros, clearly pre-fried and on the table within a few minutes, wrong choice for us. The hotel itself is beautiful and the terrace in a courtyard garden is great.

A very upscale hotel, quiet, large rooms, great service. The reception is extremely competent. The breakfast was amazing. The restaurant is simply elegant and has a very, very good quality. The service there is perfect. You feel very comfortable in this hotel!!

Great hotel for a transit trip to explore the area. Dog friendly, even at breakfast. You can walk straight into the forest right next to the hotel. Good sauna & steam bath available. Great room, bathroom is a bit dated. Very clean. Room adjacent to the parking lot sometimes caused some noise pollution. Excellent breakfast, but on Sunday the croissants were already gone at 9.30 am. Also no more boiled eggs, but they were replenished upon request. A very small menu for dinner, so we dined elsewhere. Also no lunch menu. Near an entrance to the Panorama cycle route. And also plenty of walking opportunities. We had to ask for walking and cycling routes.

There is a deduction for the very warm room (despite it being 7° outside) but luckily there is a fan in the room ;-). For absolutely bad WiFi (a speed test is included) and for a breakfast price of a whopping €21! I also liked the connection between the bathroom and the hotel room (you have to be very careful with a 1.90m person). Otherwise the rooms are clean.

Very tastefully and stylishly decorated hotel, a very good addition to Fletcher. Good food, friendly staff and a nice breakfast in the garden in the morning sun. You have to pay extra for the sauna, €12 per person, so don't go before or after dinner, as a result of which you are the only one even though it is great. The village is not much, but the area is great for walking or cycling

We had a maisonette, everything was very neat. It was extremely hot in the room as well as in the restaurant and lobby! Ate in the restaurant, it was very good. Friendly staff, with one exception: the guy who was probably in charge of the rest there was very impersonal. The area is very suitable for walks or other activities.

Fletcher Heiligenhaus room 26 - [ ] Reception fine - [ ] Restaurant fine, although the price/quality ratio is not right (too expensive for what you get). Staff can still learn a lot, but is friendly. The chef of the restaurant earns his salary by doing nothing. - [ ] There are apparently new chairs in the restaurant, they should have felt pads under them. You can hear the chairs throughout the hotel, our room was above the restaurant and it is very noisy. - [ ] Room was spacious and neat. Bed is very soft and all the pillows that were there were worthless. So a pain in the neck because of this. - [ ] As soon as you enter the room there is no light at the door. Not safe! - [ ] Climate in the room is a disaster. It is much too warm and you can't adjust anything. Opening the windows all night didn't help either. - [ ] Bathroom is large, but very outdated. The joints between the tiles on the floor are missing (not very hygienic). The stopper of the sink does not work. The shower cabin is 10 cm higher than the floor, so a lot of water nuisance. The cabin itself is too small, you can't really turn around and a little extra handle doesn't help. - [ ] Tissues and hygiene bags were gone on arrival, were not replenished after cleaning, but the friendly man at the reception solved it. - [ ] Final conclusion: nicely located, nice reception and large room, but there are quite a few points for improvement. 5.5/10

We spent a few nice days here. Unfortunately the beer garden was still closed as it was 20 degrees. But luckily we were able to just sit there. There was just no service there. By German standards, the prices of food and drinks are too high. Staff is super friendly, rooms are fine. Everything is spotless. Environment is beautiful. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Great hotel with neat tidy room. Unfortunately they don't have a real lunch menu for a small "bite", the menu they have is very limited. The breakfast is excellent.

Hotel is good, rooms also neat, bathroom with bath, 1 disadvantage if you have difficulty walking, you have to shower in the bath. Very friendly ladies behind the reception. Ate in the hotel, the Fletcher burger was very tasty. Male waiter was less friendly. There were several couples spread out over a kind of conservatory. The waiter visited every table but skipped us every time. Finally left.

A really nice and, above all, clean room at an unbeatable price. Parking is OK. A visit to the hotel bar is also worthwhile.

Nice hotel on the edge of the forest. The bed only has 1 mattress of 160*200 and is very wobbly on wheels. And due to interference, no channels on TV. As an alternative, Chromecast could be offered, but that is not available. Wifi is also just 2 bars.

Nice hotel for a weekend away, we had a 3-course dinner and walking/cycling routes with our package, but we had to ask about the latter first. Delicious food! Clean, very spacious room. Breakfast buffet fresh, organic regional products and mega choice. Staff very friendly. Hotel is located at the end of Panorama Radweg, most sights are a bit of a bike ride away. At night our e-bikes were allowed in the locked garage of the hotel.

Perfect hotel in a residential area. You have to get in the car for shops or restaurants, but we came for the hotel and it was fantastic. The hotel restaurant was perfect and very atmospheric. We were amazed at the hotel. Everything was as beautiful or even more beautiful than expected. Luxurious spacious room with good beds, desk, sitting area for 2, TV and sofa and beautiful large bathroom with double sink. Brushing your teeth comfortably next to each other :).

Great hotel. Nice large rooms. That's a bit warm. Excellent breakfast, pity that it is split into 2 parts. Missed the coffee maker with latte or cappuccino.

We were there last week and we are very happy and satisfied with it.. room/bathroom is very clean, no black spots or anything, just like in the other hotels. Location is also good, close to Wuppertal, Essen.. we will definitely come back to this hotel.
