Great location, large playground for children (from 3-4 years), beautiful view and a very quiet location. However, 1 star deduction, even if the food is very tasty, the quantity ratio to the price is exaggerated. 1 dumpling with meat and sauce? Dessert is recommended but excessively expensive for the “material used”.

The interior is very nice, the staff is very nice, but the food is average.

A great place to eat outside during good weather. Even a playground for the wee ones. Delicious good and beautifully scenery. Highly recommended!

Located in a wonderfully quiet location in the forest with a southeast orientation, I felt in good hands here, comfortably served with good service and delicious Thuringian cuisine. The red cabbage was a bit salty, but the dumplings were really good. Despite the modern architecture, it is very comfortably furnished. I will gladly come again. I found the prices for the food to be 1-2 euros too high.

Well, there’s a lot of room for improvement…

We had roulade and game goulash. With the game goulash, the sauce was nice and dark, but the taste was just too bitter. Also for game goulash. The roulade sauce, on the other hand, was bitter and the red cabbage coarse and overly acidic. We also received the food very quickly, which indicates that it wasn't entirely fresh.

I'm a bit conflicted...the food (and also the price) in a great environment were great...without any compromises...but after more than 20 minutes in an outdoor area that was still very clearly visited (because very early Evening) I don't even have a card and the staff tells guests who need 6 seats as they leave that they can move the table and get more chairs, then I really have question marks over my head. I couldn't help but think of how, as a student, I was repeatedly chastised by the head waitress of a restaurant that was not even remotely comparable in standard because I served a cup of coffee without a tray... so please let it be an exception! Because otherwise you are great!

Overall, we were satisfied with our visit here. The food was tasty, but the price was a bit high. We were also a little surprised by the menu, as we had previously read a more extensive menu on the website. There were no classic dishes such as a simple schnitzel on the menu. We were there during the week.

Adventurous journey, but good restaurant. Friendly service, good tasty food. For the area and for what is on offer, I found the prices slightly excessive.

Food was ok for the price, steak seasoned meat consisted of a neck steak that was probably marinated in beer, which in terms of taste didn't at all match the rather dry, very coarse seasoned meat with which it was gratinated. Solyanka starter soup has a very thick consistency, actually has nothing to do with soup, but the taste is OK and well prepared. Wild goulash also tastes good with red cabbage between braised cabbage and raw vegetables. A rump steak was ordered medium, but was well over. Portions sufficient. The wait staff should definitely work on how they interact with each other, especially in front of the guests. With this tone, you don't have to be surprised if the trainees lose interest in the job. Every now and then the innkeeper tries to cover up his obviously grumpy nature with a contrived saying. No comparison with the quality of the previous operator, which is a shame given the wonderful location and ambience.

In a calm neighborhood. Parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. The restaurant has a bit of a ski hut feeling. The service was top and on point. The food is typically regional and seasonal. Just like we were looking for. Sufficiently large portions and of good quality. The trout was cooked to perfection. And goes well with the savoy cabbage and parsnip mash. In my opinion, the paste, which tastes strongly of soy sauce, could have been avoided. Didn't really go well with the fish and gave the whole thing an Asian touch.

After a phone call we were able to get there spontaneously. We would receive a super friendly welcome. After a quick look at the menu, we made our choice. I got to know this location through our Christmas party. Great ambience and delicious food. This was definitely not the last visit. Update: It really didn't take long for me to visit again. Visited again yesterday with family. A location that is also open on Monday evenings, which is no longer that easy to find. The food was delicious, the service was very friendly and I also found a place for my dog.

Immer wieder einen Besuch wert. Essen geschmacklich gut abgestimmt, appetitlich angerichtet. Man bekommt am besten auf Vorbestellung einen Platz, das Personal ist sehr eifrig.

Ein modern eingerichtetes Haus mit einer hervorragenden Küche! Man muss unbedingt reservieren....es hat sich schon rumgesprochen, wie gut es da ist.

Wir waren am Dienstag anlässlich meines Geburtstages mit 6 Personen zum Abendessen auf der Köhlerhütte.Wir wurden sofort bedient,auf der Speisekarte eine riesige Auswahl. Jeder hatte etwas gefunden und bestellt, dann kamen alle Essen alle gleichzeitig, wie es sein sollte.Also alle waren mit Menge und dem leckeren Geschmack sehr zufrieden. Ein großes Lob an die Truppe von der Köhlerhütte. Wir kommen wieder und wir empfehlen sie weiter.

Schönes, modern eingerichtetes Restaurant mit guter Aussicht. Es können hier zusätzlich auch Tagungsräume angemietet werden. Das Essen wird fein angerichtet und es gibt eine gute Auswahl an lokalen und typischen Gerichten. Für meinen Geschmack hätte es noch ein etwas größeres vegetarisches Angebot geben können. Einziger Kritikpunkt war die Musikauswahl und deren Lautstärke im Restaurant die nicht ganz angemessen war.

Tolle Aussicht, freundliche Bedienung und auch für die Kinder leckere Dinge auf der Karte (plus Spielplatz draußen). Essen lecker und angemessen im Preis. Gern wieder.

Wir kamen vom Meisenstein hier vorbei und waren angenehm überrascht. Natürlich war es hier voll und das Personal stand unter Dauerstress, trotz alledem lief die Bestellung von Getränken und Speisen rund. Also keine lange Wartezeiten. Das Ambiente dieser urigen Ausflugsgaststätte ist unschlagbar. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis geht in Ordnung. Der Spielplatz vor der Tür ist für die Knirpse ein Traum, mit Kletterturm und Rutsche. Also herkommen, wohlfühlen...

Nettes Lokal, freundliche Bedienung, gutes Essen.

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal dort. Wir waren angenehm überrascht vom sehr modernen und toll gebauten Restaurant in dieser schönen Lage. Auch das Essen und das bayrische Bier hat gut geschmeckt. Schließlich war ja auch gerade Oktoberfest.👍🍺 Allerdings mussten wir auch feststellen, dass zwar alles schön vorbereitet war, aber ein Oktoberfest-Ambiente sich nicht einstellen wollte. Zum Oktoberfest gehört auch etwas Musik, die zur Gemütlichkeit einlädt. Auch wenn sie nur vom Band kommt. Das hat leider gefehlt!👎 Die Musik eines Alleinunterhalters im Innern des Restaurants hat man im Außenbereich nicht gehört und außerdem war sie für ein Oktoberfest auch viel zu "brav"! Auf das Essen mussten wir lange warten. In Anbetracht des "Fachkräftemangels" in Deutschland war das schade und vielleicht zu erwarten, aber evtl. kann man beim nächsten Event vieles anders und sogar besser machen!? Wir kommen sicher wieder, weil einfach die Lokation schon toll ist. ... und hoffen dabei darauf, dass man Stimmung und Organisation im Restaurant auch lernen kann. 😉

Mit dem vorherigen Koch war das Essen besser und der Service viel besser.

Unser erster Besuch und super Eindruck hinterlassen! Tolles Ambiente, sehr nette Bedienung, Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut! Die Portionen sind reichlich aber nicht zu viel. Die Karte sehr übersichtlich und aufgeräumt was ich persönlich sehr schätze. Regionale Küche und ansprechend auf dem Teller angerichtet. Für Kinder ein richtig schöne Abenteuerumgebung incl Spielplatz. Immer wieder gerne und sehr empfehlenswert!

Ein Restaurant mit Spielplatz! Eher für größere Kinder, aber dasAmbiente war sehr schön. Das essen war eher fertig und nicht selbstgdmacht, den Kellner sah man selten...

Leider kann ich beim Essen nur 3 Sterne geben weil das Essen sehr unterschiedlich ist einmal ist es sehr gut ein anderes mal ist es leider sehr schlecht. Das Restaurant ist wunderschön gelegen und auch mit Kind und Hund sehr zu empfehlen.

Necesita una renovación. No toallas viejas delgadas, gel de baño, champú, secador no no. Desayuno de baja calidad, ensalada de fruta en lata, no hay otras frutas. No té. Habitaciones espaciosas, pero horrible y almohadas ropa barata. Comida a la noche comestible, pero normal.

Es war nicht mein erster Besuch im Waldhaus. So wußte ich natürlich, dass dort gutes Essen zu erwarten ist. Dieser Abend ist mir jedoch in besonderer Erinnerung geblieben, weil wir ausreichend Muße hatten, uns im entzückend liebevoll eingerichteten Gastraum wohlzufühlen. Dazu dann das Essen! Abgerundet im Geschmack der fantasievollen Zutaten, liebevoll angerichtet und einfach nur lecker! Die Betreiber sind auch absolut empfehlenswert, nett und können excellent kochen, eine perfekte Kombination, wie ich finde. Die Preise sind dann auch dementsprechend etwas gehobener aber ganz und gar nicht zu teuer für das, was man dafür geboten bekommt, und schon gar nicht, wenn man seine Mutti mal zum Essen einladen darf! Also kurz, ein Besuch im Waldhaus ist schon mal eine Reise nach Waltershausen wert.

Durch Zufall fanden wir dieses Restaurant und waren überrascht über diese äußerst gute Qualität, sowohl der Geschmack als auch die Präsentation ließen absolut nichts zu wünschen übrig. Die Auswahl von Kräutern und Blüten aus dem eigenen Garten, quasi direkt neben dem Gast frisch gepflückt machte etwas Besonderes aus jedem der drei Gerichte, die wir in Familie heute Abend zu uns nahmen. Absolut empfehlenswert, wir gehen auf jeden Fall wieder hin!!

Wir sind zufällig auf einem Spaziergang durch Waltershausen hier vorbeigekommen und spontan für ein Mittagessen eingekehrt. Die Speisekarte bietet eine gutbürgerliche Auswahl und die Speisen werden auch optisch sehr ansprechend serviert. Alles rundum gelungen.
