Waldhaus in Zingst

Closed due to wealth. A sign on the bike path to the restaurant. When you arrive, it's closed. And today isn't a Wednesday, so it's a day when they have a 'Rugetag' (public holiday). The nerve.

I'd be happy to come back. The price/performance ratio is perfect. Highly recommended.

Yesterday we visited the Waldhaus for the first time and immediately booked our next appointment. A small Bavarian-inspired menu, but also schnitzel; pounded and perfectly cooked. The fries are homemade from potato slices 😋 Nothing to complain about. You'd gladly walk 15 minutes for this.

We ate there every evening during our short four-day vacation. Everything, especially the fish (plaice, redfish, and zander), was particularly delicious. The service was also very friendly and attentive. The prices are absolutely reasonable. The portions are generous, and even a big eater will be satisfied. If we return to Zingst, we will definitely visit this restaurant again!

Unfortunately, the owner was very unfriendly. We were really looking forward to the evening, but our appetite vanished. It's a real shame. The owner seems to be the host, waiter, and cook. If it's all too much, you shouldn't take your frustration out on the guests.

Without a reservation, you'll probably be treated like a second-class guest. The host will announce that guests without reservations will be served later (even though half the restaurant was still empty...) I don't understand this, since you pay the same full price as everyone else.

Great food, appealing, and plentiful. Prices are reasonable. I highly recommend the Currywurst Deluxe, which is mega.

I ate a colorful salad plate at the Waldhaus today, and God knows it certainly deserved the name! I've never had such a variety of salad, vegetables, fruit, and nuts combined with chicken breast strips and baguette. It was my biggest and most delicious meal yet, and I had to fight hard to empty it.

We've been here twice in a row for dinner. We had grilled knuckle of pork and pieces of fried chicken. Today we had schnitzel with fries twice. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and prepared and presented with lots of love. Highly recommended 👍

Home-style cooking with a Bavarian touch. Unfortunately, the service was understaffed and very stressed. Guests were turned away and, in some cases, verbally abused by the service staff. The restaurant seems overwhelmed. A real shame, as the food was very solid.

The Bavarian-inspired cuisine may be okay, but the waiter's antics deserve a warning. Beware of guest-bashing, red alert! Then the food won't taste good either! Never again.

Based on the positive reviews, we visited the Waldhaus for the first time yesterday, and we weren't disappointed. We haven't had such a delicious meal out in a long time. The schnitzel with fries and the roast beef with onions and spaetzle were fantastic! Made with love and tasted like homemade, but with the finishing touches of a professional chef. And all at such a fair price, we'll definitely be back!

We arrived without a reservation an hour before closing and were able to order. We received friendly service and a delicious meal: champion schnitzel with side dishes, crispy knuckle of pork with a delicious sauce, red cabbage, and dumplings—all delicious! Good food/value! The "host" seemed a bit stressed, but he was friendly and the only thing missing was a smile. :-) Thank you, we'll be back!

Visited on August 11, 2025. Very good dishes. Decent portions. There's something for everyone. Don't arrive too late, as the kitchen closes at 8:00 PM.

We had dinner at the Waldhaus restaurant today. The host was very friendly, and the food was delicious. The portions were very generous, and the price was reasonable. The chef knows German cuisine. We'd be happy to come back.

We had a delicious meal: Baltic Sea bruschetta, plaice, zander, and vanilla ice cream with roasted pine nuts and pumpkin seed oil. Highly recommended 😍

Very delicious food, we would have loved to go again, but they're closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but the chef certainly deserves it; he does everything himself. The service and the chef are excellent, and the food is both delicious and friendly. We can only recommend them. Thanks, see you next time.

We were there on a Sunday between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. The weather was good, and there were still plenty of seats available inside and outside. The Erdinger Hell, very mild and smooth, was a good start. The plaice and schnitzel with creamed mushrooms were very tasty, well-seasoned, and the side salad also had a lovely dressing, which isn't always available. Conclusion: a very nice restaurant with a well-rounded menu, very good, down-to-earth food, and friendly service. It won't be the last time we're there. The price/performance ratio is completely reasonable. Thank you very much.

Delicious and has a very good location

Incompetent staff when taking a table reservation. We were simply sent away. To top it off, the host sent us away with a "we don't need that kind of thing." We'll never go there again!

Caution! The opening hours are unfortunately incorrect! Google Maps says it's open on Wednesdays, but unfortunately, it's closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays... too bad, we would have loved to try the Waldhaus :(

A little hidden gem here in Zingst, off the beaten track! A small but delicious menu. We came here for dinner after making a reservation and were so impressed that we immediately booked for two days later! We've rarely had such delicious goulash!!! Keep it up👏👏👏

I've eaten plaice three times in Zingst in the last four days. They were all very good, but the one here at the Waldhaus was the best.

We arrived - out of ignorance - half an hour before closing time. We were still able to order, were served in a friendly manner and received a really delicious meal, fish in a bed of savoy cabbage with side dishes and crispy knuckle with delicious sauce and mega red cabbage, dumplings were probably ready-made dough, the consistency of the sauce was fine. Food/price performance delicious and excellent. Very nice waiter who did NOT rush us. Thank you very much, we'll be back! Cash only!

Hopefully not too many people read this and then go there later that I don't get a place myself. It's an impeccable store. The food in particular is amazing.

Restaurant with a new tenant. The food was very good, my roast beef was as requested and my husband also liked the venison goulash very much. In addition, the food was very well garnished. Nice outdoor and indoor seating available. Free parking spaces in front of the entrance to the complex. Keep it up, we liked it.

The Waldhaus is truly a jewel in Zingst! From the moment we arrived we felt warmly welcome. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, and the service was simply outstanding. The food was simply delicious. Each of the four dishes was a real delight, from the fresh ingredients to the artful presentation. You can just tell that the cooking here is done with a lot of love and skill.

The food was really exceptionally good. The fries, spaetzle and fried onions are homemade. We haven't eaten so well in a long time.

There wasn't much going on, my cheese spaetzle was very salty. The dumplings for the goulash were not homemade. The red cabbage also came from the jar. I would not recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately we couldn't test because we were standing in front of closed doors. According to the internet, open from 12:00 p.m., there was a note on the door at 12:30 p.m., I'll be back at 1:15 p.m. 🤨 nice 2km walk for free. Back to the center and had a very good meal at Klabautermann.😜

Finally a restaurant where everything is right. The food was delicious, the service was very friendly, the prices were almost too cheap for the food and the portions. We reserved again straight away. Thumbs up, highly recommended.

The food was delicious, impeccably prepared and tasty. Waiting time was manageable. It's not a children's restaurant!!! There are no children's meals on the menu. The unfriendly innkeeper shows with every gesture that children are too much for him and that they are unwelcome.

In the town of Zingst there is no table for a cozy meal without a reservation.. then that.....➡️..😳 No advance table reservation--- very friendly service --- appetizer top---- Main course was great --- everything was freshly prepared... We ate here three times during our vacation in Bresewitz - the first time we stumbled upon it by chance. The operator, who is also the chef, was super nice and relaxed every time - even when it was really busy. He had to serve drinks, collect money and still always had a good mood and an easy-going saying on his lips. The menu offers variety and the food was always really tasty. We tried something different on every visit and tested a total of six different dishes. Everything was great – great taste, beautifully presented and the place is clean and cozy. We felt comfortable and will definitely come back when we are in the corner again!

By far the best schnitzel in the Zingst area. Good honest cuisine that is unfortunately too rare...

You don't sit in the front row, but the food is great, even if it touches on Bavarian cuisine. The service is also first-class and strives to fulfill the wishes of the guests even without a reservation. Reservation is recommended. If you want to eat fish on the Baltic Sea or in Zingst, you should choose the Waldhaus.

Small menu, simple food, but very, very tasty!

Finally the plate is full. Schnitzel, champion cream, fried potatoes or fries as desired. The fries were more like homemade potato wedges. Instead of one schnitzel, two schnitzels. Including salad. We were totally thrilled. And everything under twenty euros. And that in a flash for a two-woman-man service in the evening. Always happy again. Therefore 5 stars for everything. Respect.

The trend of the menu is towards Rtg Bavarian cuisine. Onion roast, knuckle and redfish were tasty and plentiful. The service was nice and friendly. Price-performance ratio also fits. We would definitely recommend it.

Good morning. The Waldhaus is a highly recommended location. Rustic, very tasteful tables, the table tops are an eye-catcher, bright furnishings. The food, for me there was the pike perch with savoy cabbage, fried potatoes and a side dish - a real treat. The price-performance ratio is right. Friendly service and no long waiting times. Conclusion: Clearly, we will be back.

Main courses and desserts are simply delicious. The service was super nice. In my opinion, the restaurant is an insider tip.

A cozy restaurant located in the middle of a holiday complex. The landlord did everything on his own for lunch, i.e. took the order, cooked, served, cleared away and collected the money...The fact that everything was freshly prepared at the end (even the fried onions) is even more astonishing for this reason. The food tasted really good, seasoned perfectly and was served hot. Only payment is only possible in cash and not with EC, but this is not noted anywhere.

I can only recommend the Wiener Schnitzel with potato chips to everyone! I haven't eaten such a nice, tender schnitzel in a long time! If you want to eat delicious food, go to the Waldhaus!

We were guided by the good reviews here and were not disappointed. The food was delicious across the board (everyone had different dishes). The next time we are in Zingst, we will definitely stop by again.

I would say one of the best restaurants in Zingst. Everything is freshly prepared and the staff is very friendly, even if the restaurant is very full. The Wiener Schnitzel with the fries was very tasty. But the caramelized Kaiserschmarrn was the highlight of the evening; it was super fluffy and just bomb. We as Zingster will definitely be back.

We had dinner with a large family group and everyone was thrilled. Currywurst fries may not sound sophisticated but it was delicious and the caramelized Kaiserschmarrn was to die for. We'll definitely be back.

Four of us ate here last weekend. It may seem inconspicuous from the outside, but inside it turns out to be a real joy! The staff is very friendly and will be happy to help you make decisions if you find it difficult given the delicious selection. We had the roast beef, the herb matjes, the redfish and the venison goulash. Everything was incredibly tasty and lovingly prepared. A really good price-performance ratio! Our dog was also allowed to come along and spent the time quietly under the table. We would love to come back! 😊
