Restaurant „Strandkate“ in Zingst

On Wednesday a table for 5 people was verifiably reserved with 2 witnesses to the conversation. Today [Friday] I was immediately turned away in an unfriendly manner and no reservation had been entered. No attempt to reach an agreement, just unfriendly answers that it's not her problem and there's nothing she can do now. It's a shame, especially because it was very difficult to find something to eat somewhere with 5 people

Service, food, quality can only be recommended, always happy. We look forward to our next visit with you. LG

Very nice, cozy restaurant with very good food. The price is also completely reasonable, despite the holiday resort and the Baltic Sea👌. Dogs are also allowed.

We had lunch in the “Strandkate” on the first day of our short vacation. Even though it was pretty busy, we got a table without waiting. The ambience is very nice and invites you to linger. The service was very friendly and to the point. No mistakes when ordering (7 people) and our daughter was very lovingly occupied with painting supplies. There is also nothing wrong with the food here. I had the fish platter myself, which was plentiful and very tasty. The other dishes were also very tasty and attractively prepared. All in all a very nice restaurant with excellent food which can only be recommended. We'll come back when we get the chance.

Small but nice. Many restaurants in Zingst offer good regional food. There are also friendly and helpful staff here. Unfortunately, in Zingst it is almost an exception; all means of payment are accepted and dogs are welcome.

It was a wonderful evening. Starting with great service, excellent food and rounded off with even better value for money. We would love to come back and look forward to our next visit.

It was full, which was to be expected and not a problem for me as there was still free seating outside. There was a lot of space because it was raining. I like to sit outside as long as it's reasonably dry. I chose a place in the beach chair. Probably the cat table, but it was completely okay. It would have been nice if there had been a heater there too. But it was bearable. I ate the dish of the day. It was very, very good and completely okay in terms of price and size. I was already very often in Zingst, but never in the Strandkate. Now it will definitely be more often. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. See you next time in August.

I ordered the cheesecake ice cream. Super tasty. A scoop of vanilla ice cream, a scoop of cheesecake ice cream, apple compote, sprinkles and vanilla sauce. I would order again.

I was your guest this week. Unfortunately there was no free space available inside. A reservation for a later date in the following days was strictly rejected by your staff. Unfortunately, this is not appropriate customer service for me. Therefore I cannot give your house a better rating.

If I could, I would give 0 points. We ate at the restaurant on Monday. Because it was very crowded, we took a seat in the garden. The next day we wanted to book seats for the evening after next. We were denied that. Apparently everything is already booked and then the soup festival is coming up. Today we took a chance and wanted to have dinner in the restaurant. There were several tables available, but we were again turned away and were allowed to sit in the garden. I don't know what selection criteria the guests are allowed in. Two single women apparently bring in too little sales. I cannot recommend the restaurant under any circumstances. (although the food was tasty) That's not how you treat guests. But it doesn't seem necessary.

A highly recommended restaurant that is unfortunately rarely found on the Baltic Sea coast. All the dishes at our table were very tasty and also inexpensive. Particularly noteworthy is the very friendly and attentive service. All in all, a type of restaurant that we would like to see more of.

When we are on holiday in Zingst, a visit to the Strandkate is a must. Very nice restaurant in the middle of Zingst. Tasty and prices are reasonable. We'll be back.

Last Friday we went to the Strandkate for dinner as a couple with a larger 🐕 dog. The restaurant impresses with its maritime and cozy atmosphere. The welcome was very friendly and we were quickly assigned a really nice table. In a quiet corner where our Charly could lie quietly and other guests (there are people who don't like dogs) felt uncomfortable. The service was very friendly, even though the restaurant and the outside seating were very busy. All you can say about the food is that it was prepared quite quickly. In terms of taste, it was simply a poem, especially the mustard sauce was a poem. The turkey liver was really great. In addition, even though there was so much activity, the atmosphere was pleasantly calm. Out of interest, I read some “worse” reviews. There is probably a problem there that is not reserved. I admit that I prefer to reserve in advance. But ultimately it's just my decision to wait for a table. If I decide to wait, I can't complain afterwards. If only one star 🌟 is given in a review, even though all other components (food, ambience and service) are great, you don't have to understand that. Maybe take it a little easier We'd love to come back. update; This evening we ate again in the Strandkate as a couple and our dog 🐕. The table where we sat was very good because our dog 🐕 had a lot of space under the corner bench. As was the case last week, the food was excellent, the waitresses always have a smile on their faces and are very friendly. Our vacation ends tomorrow, but we'll be sure come back. Spent the afternoon on the terrace with delicious fish & chips, beer, sun and very friendly service. It couldn't be better 👍

We stopped here spontaneously yesterday at lunchtime, just in time for opening time at 12:00 p.m. As a family with 2 small children and a dog, we were greeted very friendly. When the sun was shining, we opted for a table in the very cozy outdoor area. The menu was clear and offered something for every taste. The drinks came very quickly. For the children there was a small in-house coloring and puzzle book and their own new pens to shorten the waiting time. The food arrived quickly, which also completely impressed us. Freshly prepared, lovingly prepared and simply delicious. The guest room was also very nice and comfortably furnished. Here you can feel comfortable and feel like you are well looked after as a guest. We'd love to come back. Keep it up.

Today the two of us spontaneously went to the Strandkate for dinner. We were lucky and got a small table right in the entrance area because the restaurant was fully booked. There were only tables outside, but even with heat lamps that would have been too cold for us. The welcome was warm and relaxed, our drinks came quickly, as did the appetizers. The garlic soup with salmon was great, as was the ciabatta with homemade aioli and lard. We have never eaten our main courses (plaice and hake) better anywhere. On our next visit to Zingst we will definitely come here much more often and reserve a table in good time. Thank you, dear Strandkaten team!

Quaint, small restaurant, it's rather cramped in the area, but still very familiar, service is very accommodating and friendly, the food is really very good, we had cod with the best mustard sauce, and turkey liver,,, everything very well seasoned and tasty,,,

Food great, BUT!!! You can't make a reservation here, okay, I'll go with you. Still strange, when you ask more closely and ask whether you can make a reservation, you're told, "Nothing is available today, we'll have a group later and the rest are already fully booked." But how do you know that everything will be full afterwards? Yes, of course I am aware that the store will be full even without a reservation. But who stands there and waits to see whether something will become available in half an hour... or not. Or should I hand over a €50 note to make a reservation? I always loved eating here, I really did. Everything was super delicious, very friendly staff, but I simply find this “no reservation” policy “shit”!!!!!!! I will never come here again! I'm pissed off and don't understand this restaurant's policy!

A really great place. We were warmly welcomed here with 2 babies, a small child and 3 adults and had a really delicious meal. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. Had different dishes and everything was perfect! You can really go here and linger comfortably. The outdoor area also invites you to stay. Keep it up!

The Strandkate in Zingst, just a few steps from the beach promenade, is a real gem in a typical thatched roof house. The high number of visitors is noticeable as soon as you arrive, which speaks for the popularity of the restaurant. Despite the crowds, the service remains friendly, attentive and impressively fast. The menu is deliberately kept small, but carefully selected. Every dish that was served came to the table quickly and was excellent in terms of taste. The fish was particularly impressive – fried to perfection so that the flavor came into its own. A big compliment goes to the entire team for the first-class performance provided in the Strandkate. For me, this restaurant is one of the best in Zingst. The price-performance ratio is above average and the portions are generously large. If you are in Zingst and are looking for a special culinary experience, you definitely shouldn't miss the Strandkate!

We were super satisfied. The service was friendly and quick, tables were disinfected and Corona measures were implemented well. The small but fine menu has something for everyone and suggests that everything is really homemade!! Big praise to the entire team, service and kitchen are great!! We'd love to come back! The staff are very friendly and in a good mood 👍 even in the evening when it is full, they are very attentive, polite and courteous and they always try to fulfill all of the guests' wishes...! The food is plentiful and exceptional, everything tastes excellent and is beautifully prepared. The prices are really cheap for this excellent meal and recommended for everyone. We were here twice on our vacation. The first time completely thrilled. Food very good, service very friendly. Today, however, we were disappointed. 4:30 p.m. Asked if a table was available. Yes for 1 hour. Funny, we noticed on the homepage and on our first visit that you couldn't make a reservation. We took the table, which would actually have been fine. Unfortunately the food didn't arrive until 5:05 p.m. Well, we said to ourselves, that's why we won't rush. In addition, the other tables were occupied as normal. However, we had to leave at 5:30 p.m. The people who made reservations were already waiting. When I asked that there wasn't actually a reservation, I was given the snippy answer that it was an exception. A schnapps or dessert was no longer possible. Why don't we sit at another table that isn't reserved? Why can't you make a reservation and yet others can? Why do you allocate a table for an hour when the wait for food already lasts 20 minutes? There would have been options. I have never been treated like this in any restaurant. A no go for us. That's why we won't come back. Dear Mr. Hacker, thank you for your answer. Why weren't we assigned another table? After all, tables were occupied after us and we wouldn't have had a problem moving. When we left we could also see that other couples got a table without a reservation. Apparently not all tables were reserved. Yes, we like to wait for food when it is freshly prepared, but that means we don't want to eat in a rush. Enjoying it is a different matter when you have to eat your food in 20 minutes. Your waitress should have realized that 1 hour wasn't enough and shouldn't have offered us the table at all. I can understand your answer, you don't depend on us as customers and you can easily do without two dissatisfied customers. We've eaten there three times now and often pick up food there when we're on holiday... super nice people and the food is simply excellent, always on point... The cucumber salad is simply delicious... the currywurst, schnitzel with or without Gorgonzola, simply delicious and excellent. The prices are top. We're always happy to come by on our next vacation in Zingst...

The restaurant is centrally located in Zingst and also has outdoor dining. We were there on a Sunday evening, at peak dinner time. Unfortunately we didn't get any more space on the terrace, but a “corner” in the interior was still available. Despite the large crowds, the service was excellent and extremely friendly. We just wanted to eat a little something so we decided on potato pancakes with salmon and fish and chips. We spontaneously ordered the shrimp pot as a shared starter. All three dishes were very good and also rich. We found the price/performance ratio to be very reasonable. We will certainly come back.

We ate at Strandkate 7 to 8 times over the last two holidays. So far we've always enjoyed it. We are therefore happy to recommend the restaurant. There is an outdoor and indoor area. The service is attentive and friendly. The menu has a nice selection of meat and fish dishes. Last time we had pike perch with risotto and green asparagus and penne with shrimp.

We have been trying to find a reputable restaurant serving burgers as that was what our grandkids wanted. It was an early evening and we got in without booking, although when leaving noticed a long queue outside. The burgers were very good. Regretted a bit that I didn’t go for the fish as Zanderfillet our son-in-law had was delicious. Overall, satisfied with our meals there.

The restaurant operates without reservations. However, the wait is worth it. The food was very tasty and the dog was allowed to come too. Only the place we had right on the path where everyone walks or drives past wasn't quite as comfortable. The team was very attentive. Can be recommended with a clear conscience.

The best Solianka soup I have ever eaten, and I have eaten many of them, is right here! Delicious zander and not to mention the remoladade. If you are on Zingst, you must visit this place. We were here 3 years ago and the level and quality of the dishes are still impressive.

Very busy restaurant, but we were lucky on Saturday August 17th, 2024 and got a table for 4 people in the cozy indoor area. Very friendly and fast service, we didn't have to wait long for our food and it was delicious too. Everything at an acceptable price/performance ratio.

Very nice restaurant. Not just the outside area. Very quaint inside too! We were there twice. It's worth it. The first time the schnitzel was baked with Gorgonzola. Plus enough croquettes and a very tasty cucumber salad. On the next visit we ordered the fish platter with fried potatoes and remoulade sauce. Again a large portion and everything was very good. Also the sauce. Price-performance very good. No wonder that the restaurant is always very busy in the evenings. It's time to WAIT. You probably can't make a reservation. We were there around 3 p.m. and were able to choose a table. The food came relatively quickly. Tiny criticism: I would never give my guests a chipped plate at home, not just for cutlery. We apparently had the same chipped plate both days. Still: deserves five stars. For the food, the ambience and the service.

A very popular restaurant in Zingst. Every time you walk past, people are lining up to get a table. AND IT'S WORTH IT!!! After just a few minutes we got a table and the very friendly staff took loving care of us and the kids. The map is clear and no frills. There is fish and home cooking at a good, home-style level. “I haven't eaten fish so well in a long time” was our conclusion.

Very tasty food, ...for me: best restaurant in Zingst. It's worth joining the queue of waiting guests in the evening. The waiting time is manageable and you are then rewarded with great food.

The fact that you have to wait a while to get a seat wasn't so bad. Well, we were then assigned a place right next to the street fence, you just have to get used to the pedestrians almost falling into your food. BUT we accepted it because of all the positive reviews here. First of all, the food was very tasty. We both ordered the house fish platter. My fish platter consisted of 3x end pieces (approx. 5cm x 5cm triangular) under a very large mountain of fried potatoes. The second plate had quite large pieces of fillet on it. But after a very long wait, I didn't want to complain.

It was really very tasty. The cod fillet and salmon were great. The tartar sauce is awesome Very friendly staff. After 5 minutes of waiting we had a table straight away. We can really recommend the restaurant.

A nice quaint restaurant. Prices are fair for the portion sizes, the taste is really top notch 👍🏻 A 10-minute wait for a table for 4 when the restaurant was full at 7 p.m. was also perfectly fine.
