If your expectations aren't that high, yes, the menu is a cross between a good Greek chip shop and a restaurant. The food selection is okay, but not very extensive. The staff is attentive, even though a wedding was taking place at the same time.

We stopped here for a break during a bike ride and had a drink. The cold drinks were nice and cold, and the service was excellent. We didn't eat anything, so I can't comment on that. We'd be happy to come back.

Well, so-so. It started in the parking lot with all the potholes. The restaurant itself wasn't bad with the outdoor seating. Then the menu—well, when you go to a Greek restaurant, I expect Greek dishes, not half of them filled with schnitzel or something similar. There wasn't even rice on the side. Just fries or potatoes. Then it took forever for the food to even arrive. And it really wasn't busy. When I asked, they said their phones were broken. Then you just have to take a notepad and write down the orders and forward them, or at least let them know that it'll take a while. 😡 When I asked how long it would take, the answer was, I don't know. The waitress wanted to ask the kitchen, but she didn't come back to say how long we'd have to wait for the food. At some point, we had enough and were just about to leave and pay when a waiter came with the food. So we stayed after all. But the food itself wasn't exactly that great either. You can get better food at some snack bars. For less money. And the coleslaw was a joke—just a tiny bit, a handful at most. When I paid, my husband was initially given €10 too little. Thank goodness he noticed. The waitress was apparently a new colleague, but they really need to train women first and not let them unleash their talents on their own. It's a shame this restaurant, in a beautiful, quiet location, could do more.

The location is promising, the food isn't bad at all, but some details still need to be worked on to maximize the venue's full potential. The reviews reflect this in many ways: The food is tasty but nothing special, and the menu is relatively limited. For me, this is the first Greek restaurant without a side salad for the main course, and you'll also wait in vain for the traditional ouzo. What's striking in the large parking lot is the small number of vehicles – all of them SUVs. In such a "military training area," other vehicles would only be damaged. As a result, you'll find numerous bicycles in front of the large beer garden, pleasantly shaded by many trees, and there are numerous hikers with their four-legged companions. Both guest groups seem to represent the intended target audience. If all the criticisms were addressed, I would also be happy with the price level, but under these circumstances, the prices would have to be about 20% lower.

Very tasty, but unfortunately, the service took a long time for the menus and drinks to arrive. It was "moderately busy" that day.

Six of us went there for dinner. Everyone enjoyed the food; everything from the appetizer to the main course was delicious. And the waitress kept coming by to check if everything was okay (but not intrusively!!!). We'll be back! Keep up the good work!

We recently went there for dinner on a Sunday. There were problems right from the ordering stage. Gyros and liver were sold out for the grilled meats. However, liver was still available as a standalone dish. We were asked if the chef could modify the grilled meats. He would come up with something. After repeated requests, we left the restaurant an hour and a half later without our food. The couple next door did the same.

I highly recommend it; delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. It's a lovely place to stop in the beer garden when the weather's nice.

We've been going to Café Waldfrieden for years and have seen the owners come and go. It's always a great place to take a break after a long dog walk, and that's exactly what it was on Saturday. We were allowed to choose one of the unreserved tables. The menu is average, and we picked what we fancied: two schnitzels, one with mushroom sauce, and the classic gyro. What's the saying? Hunger drives you in. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. We'll probably stop there again on our next trip. We certainly don't go there specifically for the food.

We've been to the Mühlrather Mühle steakhouse several times in the past, but this time we decided to go to Kaffee Waldfrieden for nostalgic reasons. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed: • It took about 10 minutes for our first drinks to arrive. • We had to wait another 30 minutes for the food because our order was apparently forgotten. • Instead of the homemade schnitzel with hollandaise sauce we ordered, we received a homemade schnitzel with a creamy mushroom sauce. • My grilled plate with fried potatoes was unfortunately extremely greasy and not very appetizing. • We waited another 20 minutes to pay because the waiter didn't have a debit card. For €69 (including 4 drinks), we had hoped for significantly better quality and service. In retrospect, we're very annoyed that we didn't go to Mühlrather Mühle as usual – the price-performance ratio there is great. Unfortunately, we will avoid Kaffee Waldfrieden in the future.

If I could give 10 stars, I'd give you all 10 stars. After some initial difficulties, it was a truly wonderful evening. Great food, top-notch service. I think the transformation is really good.

It's now a Greek restaurant, without the usual small dishes like spit-roasted rolls, tarte flambée, etc. We ate gyros there with three people and won't do it again. Everything has also become very expensive, so we rarely go there anymore.

The place has as much in common with a Greek as a pig with a horse, but you can ride both... First, we ordered drinks. I ordered a large Coca-Cola. A glass was brought, so far so good. The first sip of the drink resulted in either a Coke Zero/Light or a completely different cola product. I pointed this out to the waitress (as I said, after the first sip) and asked them to check whether the drink had accidentally been swapped with another customer. Without checking, I was rudely told that this wasn't possible, I must be mistaken! No matter, I thought, as long as it's wet! And I drank it. Then came the order. The order was taken by someone who didn't know the names of the dishes on their own menu. The product doesn't match the price. I've had better food at chip shops. The meat is very fatty and even swimming in fat, even though gyros from a spit and liver aren't typically swimming in fat. I got heartburn and burping while eating! What particularly amused me was that customers at the next table were trying to order something to eat (that was the best part of the whole experience!). Instead of taking my order, I was asked to wait a while because the kitchen was overwhelmed! (And the place wasn't even half full, what could happen if they had a really busy crowd?) The conclusion of the whole disaster was truly amusing. I was asked if I was satisfied, but there was no time to wait for an answer because the young man walked away as soon as I asked the question and was never seen again. If you want a receipt, you have to insist...but not everyone really needs one, so that's okay. The bottom line: Never again! It's not Greek, but rather mediocre Balkan cuisine, probably staffed by temporary employees but not by professionals, as you might expect given the price.

That's what schnitzel should be like! I'd already been whispered to by experts that the pork schnitzels here are supposed to be top-notch: And yes, I just came back from there and am absolutely thrilled with what was served to me. I've actually learned to cook myself since the coronavirus pandemic, and I really don't think my schnitzels are bad. I hadn't found anything comparable in a restaurant until now, but now I do! Beautiful, juicy meat in a very tasty breading, and in my case, with a creamy mushroom sauce that rounded off the whole thing wonderfully. There are other sauces, too, but that's yet to be tested. Also commendable: The meal was accompanied by an extremely delicious, probably homemade tzatziki and excellently seasoned fries. I particularly liked that the chef is very good at using not only spices but also herbs. The coleslaw that served as a side dish also deserves a mention; it was very well dressed. It's definitely worth driving up there just for the schnitzel. It's clear that the ambiance still needs work: We old Viersen residents experienced the restaurant in its heyday, with pots only served outside, etc., and also its decline and long vacancy. All of this can't be easily undone, and restoring it costs a lot of money. Nevertheless, the dining rooms, restrooms, and outdoor area are clean and tidy; everything else will come with time. I wish the current owners much success and please keep up the good work!

My parents celebrated their birthday there with the whole family. We ordered a la carte and everyone received their food at the same time. The portions were plentiful and everyone enjoyed it. The ambience and, above all, the service are also good. Nobody died of thirst and everyone was served in a very friendly manner and requests were responded to and taken into account immediately. The boss has a very friendly, open and warm manner. This is reflected in all areas. We will come back and recommend the restaurant. Of course also praise to the chef and the whole team.

After what felt like several years, we were there again for dinner. Getting there via the large parking lot was very difficult if you only have a normal car! There have been very deep potholes there for years, so much so that you're driving in an SUV! Since it was still very cool that evening, we reserved a table in the restaurant. But it wasn't very warm there and the few candles that were lit on the table didn't bring the place up to temperature. The service was very friendly and our drinks and food requests were received very quickly and served in a reasonable time. The food was good and plentiful and we would recommend it to others. The restaurant was well attended and the adjoining hall was not occupied. We wish the new operator of the restaurant a good start and will come back again.

A piece of Greece in Germany!!! What a wonderful place! Soulful family Greek tavern. Warm and cozy atmosphere. All decoration is in the style of nature. There is a forest around and there is a children's playground and sandbox. Not dangerous for children. It was very tasty, the portions were simply huge! It reminded me so much of sunny Greece!!! We've been there twice now since Greek cuisine has been available in Waldfrieden and we were satisfied both times. The terrace offers plenty of space, the team is friendly and the service is smooth and fast. The selection of dishes is generally good - not too much, not too wildly mixed. It would be nice if there were vegetarian main courses. There is currently no offer other than starters and salads. A second fish dish would also be great - calamari is rather special. This small expansion of the map would make it even more attractive for us and our circle of friends.

The chef or owner has probably changed here. Now with a Greek touch with schnitzel everything was good and tasty.

The quality of the food was good, the service was quick and the new furniture made it a cozy place under the plane trees. The prices were too high for me, €9.80 for a small baked sheep's cheese, decorated with 1 cherry tomato and 1 olive, with tzatziki and 3 slices of baguette. The gyro plate without salad for € 16.80 and the 0.4 Altbier € 5.20. Maybe you have to get used to the rising prices in the catering industry in general, but €42 for a lunchtime snack is too much for me.

Tzatziki €5.90 was a piece of cake on a saucer. The wheat beer at €5.60 is already steep, and all that with hard seating and plain tables. You lose your appetite. The price-performance ratio is not right here.

Wanted to try the Greek in Waldfrieden today. You can't handle alcohol because you don't have a bar license. But this mini menu with outrageous prices (14.70 euros) for a farmer's salad is just not possible. That's the downfall of this once great beer garden in the countryside. We spent half the summer there with our dog. Unfortunately we have to look for something new. But still good luck!!!!

Just had a beer after the dog walk. The existing dog bowls looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. If rust is already blooming in chrome bowls, then no one has cared about it for a long time. Especially given the location, dog visits are to be expected...

I have to say a very beautifully located beer garden. The food here is really good. Unfortunately the service isn't that great. Unfortunately, you wait forever for your drinks here, which is certainly due to the general shortage of skilled workers. In the spring and summer months, especially on weekends, you should offer a bar outside where everyone gets their own drinks.

The peace in the forest decayed over the years - now there is life again. Very nice. After we found out that the beer garden was opened by the new owners on August 24th, 2018, we didn't miss the opportunity to drive past there that weekend and were not disappointed. Reasonable prices, a menu with smaller dishes like you see in beer gardens. It was delicious - and certainly not our last visit there. Friendly staff, nicely decorated building. No comparison to before - fortunately. / Addendum 2023: We come back every now and then and it continues to be very good and a recommendation.

We had dinner at Waldfrieden in the evening after a beautiful and sunny day. We ate in the restaurant and not in the beer garden. The service was friendly and pleasant. The food didn't meet our expectations, so we probably won't come back.

Plain and simple, but quaint and cozy, like the relaxed atmosphere. People love to stop here after a walk in the forest and spend time on the sun terrace when the weather is nice. Food recommended, host always friendly and fun to have. Also very dog ​​friendly :) Keep it up.

23.08.2023 Haben am späten Mittwochnachmittag bei angenehmen Temperaturen erstmalig das Restaurant aufgesucht. Zu unserer Überraschung waren auf der Außenterrasse bereits über 10 Tische besetzt. Obwohl nur eine Bedienung für das Wohl der Gäste zuständig war, erfolgte die Bestellung für Essen und Trinken nach kurzer Wartezeit. Die bestellten Speisen haben uns gut geschmeckt. Empfehlenswert ist auch das selbstgebraute Altbier (schmeckt auch Pilstrinkern). Tipp für Eltern mit Kleinkindern: Nebenan gibt es einen Kinderspielplatz. Für empfindliche Ohren: Ab und zu ist die naheliegende Autobahn zu hören. Das tut der guten Stimmung aber keinen Abbruch. Montag und Dienstag hat das Restaurant geschlossen. - Fazit: Gemütliches Ambiente im Wald mit gutem Essen und selbstgebrautem Altbier - Wir kommen wieder.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker und die Preise sind angemessen. Auch kann man hier gemütlich anhalten und was trinken, wenn man mit dem Rad unterwegs ist. Leider muss man erst des öfteren auf sich Aufmerksam machen, damit man eine Bestellung aufgeben kann. Auf Getränke wartet man auch schon mal 20min. Am Ende war dann auch noch die Abrechnung falsch (was ich leider zu spät bemerkt habe), wodurch wir auch noch zu viel bezahlt haben. Das Serviceteam war zwar freundlich, wirkte aber sehr umorganisiert und teils überfordert.

Leuk biergarten restaurant op een fraaie locatie, niet eens heel ver van de snelweg. Het eten was lekker, prima geprijsd en de bediening vriendelijk. Helaas moesten we een uur op ons eten wachten, wat ondanks het feest dat er was toch wel erg lang is.
