Ein Abend mit Sonne ☀️, milden Temperaturen und gutem Freund in diesem Ambiente ist einfach 5 Sterne wert! Ohne Reservierung ist es angeraten, früh da zu sein und etwas Glück zu haben. Ob Mathes oder Bratwurst-Schnitzel mit Kochkäse - Essen und Weine sind zu empfehlen. Der Service ist nicht nur fachlich gut, sondern auch fröhlich und nett, weshalb es mir unklar ist, warum ich zuvor nicht hierher gefunden habe - Dank an die Empfehlung durch den Freund❣️

Service freundlich, schöner Außenbereich. Essen war gut Alles in allem ein schöner Abend gewesen.

Gibt's nicht viel zu sagen. Tolles Essen, toller Service und ein tolles Ambiente in einem der ältesten Fachwerkhäuser Deutschlands. Der Eingang ist stilgerecht, wie es die Fraa vun Bensem schon bevorzugte: Hinnerum 👌

das Sellerie Schnitzel mit Kochkäsesauce war sehr lecker für Vegetarier sehr zu empfehlen, saßen draußen im Biergarten echt sehr schönes Ambiente Sonntagsmittag ohne Voranmeldung 👍

War lecker und wurde gut wegen meiner Zöliakie beraten.

Wir sind eher zufällig nach einer Wanderung hier gelandet, weil alle anderen Restaurants schon komplett voll waren. Hier haben wir Glück gehabt und spontan noch einen Tisch bekommen. Das Ambiente ist so schön urig, der Service super freundlich und das Essen war auch wahnsinnig lecker. Wir haben uns total wohlgefühlt und gefreut, dass wir durch den „Zufall“ dieses tolle Restaurant kennenlernen durften.

Ein Mega Dankeschön an Herr Knapp, das Team in der Küche und natürlich die Serviceengel 🤗. Ihr macht alle ein fantastischen Job und zaubert mir jedes Mal ein Lächeln ins Gesucht wenn ich das Lokal besuche. Das Essen ist abwechslungsreich und Mega lecker 😋. Das Ambiente ist toll, die Bedienungen flott und sehr freundlich. Ich hatte 10 Personen eingeladen. Tisch war ausreichend groß. Leider war das Essen enttäuschend. Die Portionen waren sehr klein. Eher Kinderportionen. Die Putenstreifen zäh und gingen zurück. Die Nachspeise nicht besser. Ich war schon öfter im Walderdorfer Hof und immer zufrieden. Ausgerechnet mit Gästen so etwas. Wir gingen hungrig nach Hause. Schade. Allerdings war mein Vegetarisches Essen der Knaller 👍

Wir waren heute das erste Mal hier essen und mehr als begeistert. Das urige Ambiente und die Atmosphäre waren super gemütlich. Der Service mehr als zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich! Unsere Kids haben ihr Essen sogar zügig zuerst bekommen, was sehr positiv war. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, angemessene Portionen für einen bezahlbaren Preis. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und freuen uns auf den nächsten Besuch.

Die Pfeffersauce zum Rumpsteak war der Knaller!! Update: Heute waren wir wieder vor Ort ... trotz Weihnachtskarte (leider ohne Gericht mit Pfeffersoße) konnte ich die Soße dazubestellen ... erneut ein gustatorischer Hochgenuss für Pfefferfreunde. Einfach nur klasse!

War mit meiner Familie am 26.12.25 im Walderdorffer Hof essen. Vom Ambiente und dem Essen waren wir alle begeistert. Kommen auf jeden fall wieder..

Leider wurde die Speisekarte deutlich verkleinert. Ansonsten, gute regionale und deutsche Küche. Atmosphäre sehr schön und urig im ältesten Fachwerkhaus Südhessens.

Ein kulinarischer Hochgenuss vom Allerfeinsten. Dort muss man einfach mal gegessen haben.

From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was captivated: The beautiful half-timbered house immediately exudes a warm, cozy, and at the same time homely atmosphere. Even the recommendation of the daily specials demonstrated the passion and expertise that goes into this restaurant. The meal itself was an absolute highlight: freshly prepared, perfectly seasoned, and very attractively presented. A very nice ambiance. The service was very friendly and prompt. The food was delicious and plentiful. We'd be happy to return.

Outside in warm weather - great!

The stars are for the friendly service and the pleasant ambiance. We had four different dishes, and all were rather average. The bread dumplings tasted like soggy toast. The "minced steak with feta" didn't have feta in it, but rather soft cheese. Furthermore, it wasn't homemade but looked like a frozen bifteki. Everything was quite tasteless and bland, and the portions weren't particularly large (hence the lower prices).

The food was delicious and local. The prices were perfectly reasonable for a restaurant, and the service was also excellent.

We really enjoy eating here – our favorites are the Kochkäseschnitzel (cheese schnitzel) and the apple rings for dessert. Unassuming from the outside, but quaint and cozy inside, and there's a lovely outdoor seating area under lush trees right next to the old city wall. A definite recommendation in downtown Bensheim!

Super traditional German food, perfect service and atmosphere. This place is supposed to be one of the ancients still working restaurant in DE.

My wife and I have been here several times now, and we have always been extremely impressed with the service and the food! Yesterday I was in the beer garden with friends for a chat and a good meal and drink, and it resulted in two new regulars! Continued good business, and see you next time.

It's a very traditional restaurant. When I saw the half-timbered house I was a little worried. The service was very attentive and very friendly. We didn't sit in the historic guest room, but in the barn opposite, which is also very beautiful. The menu surprises with exceptional dishes from the Odenwald. For me there was a lot of cooked cheese. But in the end we ate cooked cheese. The dishes were extremely tasty. The wine comes from the Bergstrasse, so the selection is a little more difficult, but we had very nice wines available. We probably stressed out the service a bit, but they smiled confidently away. I can fully recommend this restaurant.

Everything was TOP... one of the best addresses in Bensheim

We were pre-registered with 75 people on site on April 28, 2025. The communication was very friendly and pleasant right from the start. The restaurant is located in a characterful half-timbered building. We received a very friendly welcome from the landlord and his team. We had already selected our dishes in advance from the menu, which was written in dialect, so we didn't have to wait long. The dishes were all freshly and tasty prepared and brought to the table quickly thanks to the great team. All of our participants were very impressed by the food and the extremely polite and friendly manner of the entire team. THANK YOU for the great service and the wonderful hours we were able to spend with you. The restaurant gets an absolute recommendation from us.

Nice place, easy reservation for 8 people, unfortunately the meal started badly: the garlic soup was completely over-salted and almost inedible, 3 full plates + useless note to service, they were on the bill. Too bad! Rest of the food and service was otherwise good.

Been there again for a long time. The service was very good. The prices are moderate and acceptable. I'll be back. Now there again, in the separate building in the courtyard. We were about 40 people. The service staff did a great job. The only thing I have to complain about concerns the boss: Install an automatic sliding door there, your service staff will thank you. Because occupational safety comes before monument protection.

It is in the oldest half-timbered house in Hesse and is homely. Decorated with, among other things, old collectibles, telephones, coffee grinders, etc. The food is very tasty and the price/performance ratio is quite ok. We agreed that we had already paid more for comparable, very good quality. I can recommend the pork loin (it was recommended for the day and unfortunately!!! not on the menu). But the other dishes on the menu were also very good. A quick hot tip for a pleasant evening

Very quaint restaurant with great local food. The boss is unique, like the house itself. The waitresses are great. Here you can spend your time well, eat very well and enjoy a beer. Clear recommendation. In summer, the farm is a good place to stay, right next to the old city wall.

Great place... lovely old atmosphere. It was very hot so we sat out in the courtyard. The food was lovely, traditional and well served up. The servers were excellent, very friendly and helpful.

Everything is good so far, you can go there or recommend it with a clear conscience. It wasn't particularly busy and we sat in the beer garden because it was late summer, but the waitress kept coming all the way out and asking what else we would like, etc. She was very on the ball. The beer garden is a beautiful green oasis and bordered by the city wall, is cozy. Food (pork steak with hand cheese sauce and turkey salad) was also completely ok! Maybe you could sweep up all the old leaves every now and then or take a look at the plants, the oleander had it behind it...

Super authentic German restaurant with exceptional, slightly modified Hessian specialties - that gives the whole thing a personal touch, which we thought was great! The interior is totally quaint and cozy. Both the boss and the service staff are very attentive and friendly.

Worst experience in a long time

I guess the staff was quite busy today, but we never got our order (just drinks) despite ordering. Otherwise the space looked nice, only smokers make the atmosphere unpleasant.

The Walderdorffer Hof is in the oldest half-timbered house in Bensheim. It's very comfortable, whether you're sitting outside or inside. The menu is very nicely done and written in the Bensheim dialect, which I thought was nice. I was also fascinated by the sayings/jokes. We were also offered seasonal dishes that were not listed on the menu. The portions are completely sufficient for an adult, but not too much. Finally there was a dessert with homemade eggnog. It was also very tasty, as it was important not to offer cheap ice cream. The conditions were very friendly and accommodating, but not intrusive in any way. If you want to go out for a good meal, I can only recommend the Walderdorffer Hof. A little tip, reserve in advance!!!! Because it is always very well attended

If you like it rustic, you'll get your money's worth. Prices are okay, the menu is rather small, which I personally think is good.

Very interesting ancient restaurant, but you have to find it first! Google helped us. Crowded, a good sign away from tourist routes, but Bensheim is not a hotspot. The innkeeper cleared his table full of papers for us, the waitresses were very agile and super nice. Despite the restaurant being full, the food was served very quickly and the price was appropriate for the quality. Recommendation with greetings from Berlin.

Great local cuisine, charming ambience in an old half-timbered house. The service was extremely friendly, humorous and on the ball. The dishes we ordered (cooked cheese schnitzel, trout, salad) were well prepared and very tasty. What is also very nice, and not a given everywhere, is that wines from the local winemaker are offered! Price/performance ratio is also good. Come again!

Regional food in a great atmosphere in a beautiful half-timbered house.

Wir lieben es im WADO zu essen, egal ob im Restaurant oder Biergarten, der im Übrigen der schönste in Bensheim ist.💚. Die Gerichte sind von bodenständig bis ausgefallen, frisch gekocht und treffen genau unseren Geschmack. Auf jeden Fall kann man lokale Gerichte probieren, also hessisch oder odenwälderisch. Die Weinkarte ist vielfältig und der Hausschoppe sehr zu empfehlen. Manchmal kann es in den Stoßzeiten zu kleinen Wartezeiten kommen, die aber nie übermäßig lang wären. Das ist halt so, da das Restaurant sehr beliebt und oft bis auf den letzten Platz besetzt ist. Es empfiehlt sich zu reservieren.

Essen ok, aber wir haben 1 Std drauf gewartet. Selbst die Getränke kamen nicht prompt. Es gab weder einen "Gruß aus der Küche" zur Vertröstung noch einen Obstler hinterher als Entschädigung. Das Personal war nett und bemüht, konnte aber offensichtlich nichts ausrichten. Die Auskunft "drin ist alles voll, und Hof dauert halt länger" war nicht wirklich hilfreich. Es wurde darüber kühl und dunkel... Decken gab's keine, und Leuchten oder Kerzen auch nicht. Schade.

Unglaublich schöner Außenbereich an der alten Stadtmauer. Besondere regionale Speisen. Hundefreundlich. Und allein die liebevoll gestaltete Speisekarte ist ein Grund das Restaurant zu besuchen. Historischer Fachwerkhof.

Leider war es bei unserem letzten Besuch zu kalt für den wunderbaren Biergarten an der Stadtmauer bensheims. Das holen wir ganz bestimmt nach. Das historische Ambiente im ältesten Fachwerkhaus Südhessens ist wunderbar. Ein wirkliches Kulturgut für die Stadt Bensheim. Wer die Speisekarte im Dialekt nicht versteht kann sie in Englisch lesen, in beiden Fällen findet man ganz bestimmt etwas Besonderes zum Stillen von Hunger und Durst, und auch der Serviceteam ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Ein sehr gute Menüe-Auswahl im ältesten Fachwerkhaus von Südhessen. Frisch gezapftes Bier und ein guter Rotwein vom Winzer vor Ort. Und einem Wirt der einen herzlich empfängt. Sehr empfehlenswert muß man Einkehren.
