Volmerswerther Krug in Düsseldorf

I've been going to this restaurant for 20 years. Four of us (aged between 60 and 93) were there for lunch at the "Volmerswerther Krug" for my 88th birthday, having made a table reservation in advance by phone. Unfortunately, our table wasn't set up in any special way for this special occasion. Throughout the entire visit, there was no personal birthday congratulations or small tokens (such as a greeting from the house), which would have been truly friendly and thoughtful. The four dishes we ordered (two from the daily specials and two from the regular menu) didn't arrive at the same time. My meal arrived first, while the remaining three (including the birthday boy/girl) arrived without an apology, at least 15 minutes later. Absolutely unacceptable. My dish, "Tagliatelle with Pesto," was extremely bland, only lukewarm, with a strange combination of vegetables (green beans, cauliflower, carrots, mushy cherry tomatoes), and far too fatty for me, which I naturally reported to the server. The "Grillplatte," for example, the meat selection, was not as usual (fewer meats, dry, sausages barely browned), the Djuvec rice was mush, no longer really recognizable as rice. The "Turkey Strips with Rösti" was okay. The "Redfish Fillet with Spinach" was also okay. The service was friendly, but could be improved. Another negative point in my opinion: The music in the "background" was/is, unfortunately, often far too loud to allow for a quiet conversation. I even approached them personally, but it only worked after the second visit. Conclusion: We were looking forward to a very special, delicious lunch. Unfortunately, WE were very disappointed overall.

A wonderful restaurant with real home cooking! The atmosphere is incredibly warm - you immediately feel welcome, almost like you are with friends or family. The staff is very friendly and attentive, always with a smile on their faces. The food is fantastic! Homemade, fresh and prepared with a lot of love. If you come with a group, you can also book the bowling alley as an option. I did this and it was a great way to combine good food with fun! A place I always like to return to, highly recommended :)!

An absolute insider tip in Düsseldorf – Volmerswerther Krug! I had the pleasure of visiting the Volmerswerther Krug in Düsseldorf and I have to say: this restaurant is a real gem! From start to finish our visit was simply perfect. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and accommodating – even with a full house! We felt completely comfortable and well looked after. The food? Simply a dream! I got a perfectly cooked steak - cooked to perfection, incredibly tender and full of flavor. There were also delicious side dishes that rounded the whole thing off perfectly. For dessert I had pancakes, which were incredibly delicious. The prices? Absolutely fair for this quality! Here you get great food, great service and a cozy atmosphere at really good value for money. I can fully recommend the Volmerswerther Krug - if you are in Düsseldorf and love good food, you shouldn't miss this experience! Definitely 5 stars!

The food is fantastic – fresh, prepared with love and simply delicious. The service is attentive, warm and ensures that you feel completely comfortable. The owners in particular radiate so much warmth that you almost feel at home. Everything is just right here – we will definitely come back!

After a long time we were back at the Volmerswerther Hof and it was worth it. Delicious meals from the lunch menu at moderate prices. Friendly and attentive service as well as a nice ambience. We'd love to come back.

A place for the guest who can't afford much; neither good food, more like everything ready-made, nor good service. What was ordered does not match the menu! That's on top of that. If you still like to be cheated on your bill, that's exactly where you go. Everyone else should avoid the restaurant. The owner in particular is without equal; just mushy and unfriendly, perhaps frustrated that there wasn't enough for more in life. So for people who don't value good food or good service and want to be cheated out of a significant amount on the bill, they're in good hands there. People who like to eat well and are used to good service avoid the “Volmeswerter Krug”

The worst restaurant I've ever been to in terms of service. The owner was extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. She was completely overwhelmed in a half-full restaurant. In addition, I didn't receive an invoice; just something was “gathered” on the pad and entered silently into the card machine. At home I calculated again and again based on the menu; I was cheated out of 9 euros. The food was average. There is nothing that makes this restaurant worth recommending. But if you like average food in a restaurant where the service is bad and people like to be cheated, this is the place for you.

The restaurant was visited after a funeral. The beef soup could also have been served to vegetarians. At best, the soup was shown a piece of beef, but at a safe distance.

We can only recommend the Vollmerswerther Krug. We've been coming here regularly for lunch for some time now. And everything is always very fresh and really tasty. The service is always in a good mood and attentive. A rustic, cozy atmosphere where you can enjoy in peace. We'll definitely be back. R family

Total Unfreundliches Personal. Wir haben versucht einen Tisch zu reservieren. Das Telefonat wurde zwar angenommen ABER dann wurden wir 10 min am Hörer NICHT beachtet. Daraufhin Personal Mail versucht eine Reservierung zu machen , ( steht auch im Internet das man per Mail reservieren kann) , DOCH KEINE Reaktion und KEINE Nachricht auf die Mail. Da ist auf jedenfall Verbesserung nötig. 😡😡😡

Very tasty food with good price-performance ratio

After several work colleagues raved about the Volmerswerther Krug, I had to take a look at it myself. And a little spoiler, it was MEGA (somehow not surprising given a five star rating ;-) ). The atmosphere is very quaint and very cozy. So if you like modern and chic chic, you've come to the wrong place. I just thought it was great. It reminded me a lot of my childhood, where you would go out to eat with the family on Sundays and grandma and grandpa would put five marks in their pockets and the world would be wonderful. That's not to say that the interior is old, everything was clean and well-kept, the style was just cozy traditional. The kitchen was the same way. I had a Düsseldorf mustard roast, the steak was perfectly done. Nevertheless, I almost liked the bacon beans and the fried potatoes even better. The fried potatoes were simply divine, basically the best I've ever eaten. I know from my colleagues that the schnitzels are also great. The menu is also very traditional and home-style, exactly what I wanted that evening. The staff was friendly, helpful and fairly quick. With two to three people, they supplied the slightly more than half-full restaurant really well and quickly. You didn't have to wait long for drinks or food. I was completely satisfied and will definitely come back. There are still a few delicacies on the menu that I want to try.

We just had lunch here and loved it. We chose from the lunch menu. Everything was fresh and tasty prepared. My fresh plate was super tasty and lots of it. Great value for money. The staff was competent and very friendly. I think the atmosphere is great. If you go to a good middle-class restaurant, you shouldn't expect avant-garde furnishings. Here it is rustic, cozy, well-kept and clean. Gladly again at any time!!

Home cooking at it's worst! Rarely have I eaten such bland home cooking as I did here. Lots of ready-made products and a chef who has apparently never seen the inside of a cooking school. The degree of doneness of meat and side dishes is unknown here. Everything here is overdone (meat) and mushy (vegetables). The biggest outrage is the grill plate. Everything is fried to death and of poor quality. If you like good home cooking you should go somewhere else. Düsseldorf has better to offer in this price range. The staff tries hard but seems fake friendly and has little enthusiasm.

Great ambience, with really First-class food and top service at more than fair prices. Thanks to the great waitress (I think her name was Dana) who served our half-English group so well. It was a celebration for us and we would love to come back.

Finally tested it again after ages. Definitely one of the best home-style restaurants in the area. With a large, beautiful terrace for nice weather. Wide selection of dishes and consistently top quality.

We were invited to a diamond wedding and were initially skeptical about the external appearance. But what can I say: the food was very, very tasty, the service was friendly. If we come to Düsseldorf again, we will stop here again.

Once again it has been confirmed that the true culinary pearls of this city like to hide outside the center. The Volmerswerther Krug sounds old-fashioned and so is the interior design, but I like it if it stands for good home-style cooking and friendly service. We were at the Volmerswerther Krug with a group of ten and on a summer Tuesday we actually got a table outside instead of inside as reserved. To do this, other guests were asked to change their tables, which they kindly did. Tuesday is schnitzel day at Volmerswerther Krug, which means that all pork schnitzel variants, including a side dish (fried potatoes, fries or croquettes) and salad, only cost 13.90 euros! (As of August 2024) I had the Düsseldorfer Schnitzel, which is essentially a Düsseldorf mustard roast in the form of a schnitzel, and it was very, very tasty :) My companion was also particularly impressed by the quality of the breading and the decent quantity. It should be mentioned that the Volmerswerter Krueg served Altbier not only Frankenheim that evening, but also Schlüssel, which - as every Düsseldorfer knows - tastes much better. From my side it gives full marks and an absolute recommendation. We will be back :)

The restaurant is very good and has a nice outdoor area. The boss and the waitress are very friendly. The two restaurants, Haus Massenberg, which are run by the children, are also very good. You can eat very good local food there and is suitable for a young audience.

A very chic restaurant with a good atmosphere and friendly service. The beer was served perfectly cold and the food was served quite quickly. Rump steak is highly recommended, as is the aioli, very tasty. For dessert there were creps and ice cream, both very good. Highly recommend the restaurant

We were there for the second time now... we ate schnitzel that was really great. The service is very friendly, but there is simply no other waiter, it takes too long and every time something was forgotten or the side dishes weren't right.

Waren heute mit über 10 Personen zum Mittagessen. Als erstes war der reservierte Tisch nicht wie bestellt, in weiß Eingedeckt. Das bestellte Essen (4x Kalbsleber) war ungenießbar. Kleine dünne aufgetaute Scheiben die durchs einfrieren eine ungenießbare Konsistenz hatten. Kartoffelpüree und die Zwiebeln waren ok, kann man ja nicht viel falsch machen. Die Rindfleischsuppe vorab war versalzen und sehr Pfefferlastig. Auch die Meinungen der anderen Gäste waren nicht gerade positiv. Hier muß sich einiges ändern bevor wir wiederkommen.

Much to my regret, it's rare to come across a place like this these days. If the interested guest is looking for a restaurant where one can find the peace and quiet that is rather rare these days, and simply wants to have a quiet afternoon with a delicious beer and an incredibly delicious meal, this guest is most welcome here, not least because of that Truly excellent service staff. Truly, this was not my last visit to the Volmerswerther Krug, and I am really looking forward to the next time when I long for peace and contentment, which is often denied in today's zeitgeist.

I visited the restaurant for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised! Clean rooms and very friendly staff, despite the busy guest room! In warm weather you can also sit outside! The food we ordered was very tasty and was brought to the table quickly and hot despite the large number of guests! There was even a starter soup, a salad and a very tasty dessert for every dish! All of this at humane prices! I think we will be visiting there more often because we were very satisfied.

Ate there with 12 people on Boxing Day. It tastes good, but you shouldn't be very hungry. The side dishes like beans, fries, etc. are a joke in terms of quantity. The price/performance ratio is no longer right. The service was very attentive.

Ein sehr sehr leckeres Essen. Die Speisekarte macht Appetit und die Auswahl der Gerichte ist vielfältig aber nicht überladen. Frische Zubereitung mit einem exzellentem Servivce. Wir kommen jederzeit wieder.

Die Kegelbahn war etwas Altbacken. Aber dafür war alles andere gut. Toiletten sauber. Essen lecker und der Service gut. Rundherum empfehlenswert.

Heute zum Gänseessen und definitiv das letzte Mal da gewesen! Maronen roh, Rotkraut fad und säuerlich gewürzt, die Soße - das A und O für ein schmackhaftes Gänseessen - untererirdisch schlecht: klumpig von zuviel Andickungsmittel, sauer, ansonsten ohne jeglichen Geschmack. Als wir das reklamierten, war die Antwort: "Das ist unsere einzige dunkle Soße, Ersatz gibt es nicht!" Keine Entschuldigung, kein Wort des Bedauerns. Auch ansonsten schnippischer Service, hartleibig gegen jedwede Kritik. Gefragt nach einem OFFENEN halbtrockenen Rotwein war die Antwort: Zur Gans passt nur trockener Wein, der "saugt das Fett auf" 😳. Dann wurde ein Flaschenwein präsentiert - für EINE Person am MITTAG! Hier konnte man einmal gut essen - auch Gans -, das liegt lange zurück. Auf Nimmerwiedersehen, Volmerswerther Krug!

Seit Jahrzehnten sind wir hier gerne zu Gast und haben auch schon einige Feiern dort abgehalten. In der gemütlichen Atmosphäre und dem freundlichen Empfang durch die Inhaber und auch die Mitarbeiter:innen fühlt man sich stets willkommen und wohl. Speisen und Getränke sind durchgängig von bester Qualität und immer sehr lecker, die Auswahl reichhaltig, angelehnt an Gutbürgerliche, Internationale, als auch die kroatische Küche. Zusätzlich werden Tagesgerichte und Menüs angeboten. Auch der Außenbereich lädt zum Verweilen ein ist im Sommer reichhaltig mit Blumen und Pflanzen dekoriert. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmt definitiv und wir kommen immer wieder gerne zum Speisen dort hin.

Alles in allem ein perfektes Restaurant.Das Bier könnte etwas billiger sein,das ist das einzigste was zu bemängeln ist 3,30.,Euro für ein Glas Alt (Frankenheim).

Bier ist lecker. Essen einfach, aber recht schmackhaft, besonders die Schnitzel. Bei Saucen ist aber keine feine Klinge zu erwarten.... Ansonsten solide. Bratkartoffeln sehr lecker. Gemütlicher Außenbereich zum sitzen, Service immer freundlich.

Kellnerin unfähig , Essen ungenießbar.Schweinefilet mit Pommes bestellt, bekommen in Fett schwimmende Bratkartoffeln. Filet trocken und hart, weil totgerillt Der Grund Personal nicht in der Lage Bestellung weiter zu geben

Beim Messebesuch in Düsseldorf haben wir hier lecker gegessen. Der Service war klasse sehr nettes Personal.

Wer gut essen möchte, ist hier falsch. Die „Prinzessbohnen“ waren breite Brechbohnen, die darüber hinaus total angebrannt waren. Die Pfeffersauce, ein billiges Fertigprodukt, total wässrig mit 3 Pfefferkörnern darin. Das Schweinefilet war o.k., aber nahezu ungewürzt. Ich werde nicht wiederkommen!

Mir persönlich hat das Essen nicht geschmeckt, die Bratkartoffeln waren matschig, das Bernerschnitzel war ziemlich dünn und klein, Portion sehr übersichtlich, der Salat hat fade geschmeckt. Ich persönlich würde dort nicht mehr essen und würde es auch nicht weiterempfehlen.

Eine gemütliche Gaststätte, wenn das Wetter mitspielt schöne Außenterrasse in ruhiger Lage .

Wir waren mittags nach einer Beerdigung auf dem Südfriedhof im Volmerswerther Krug und es war ganz wunderbar: Das Essen von der Mittagskarte war sehr lecker und reichlich, der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam und die ganze Gesellschaft hat sich wohlgefühlt. Besten Dank, dass sie uns - trotz traurigem Anlass - eine schöne Familienerinnerung beschert haben.

Heute war Dienstag und Schnitzeltag. 1a !!! Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich habe wiedermal nicht aufgegessen, aber nicht weil es nicht schmeckt, sondern weil ich nur ganz kleine Portionen zu mir nehmen kann. Es war das erste Restsurante, dass mir sofort angeboten hatte den Rest einzupacken. Es wurde auch schön getrennt eingepackt und nicht alles zusammengemischt. Also mein Fazit, jeder Zeit wieder. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist auch nicht zu toppen.

Gut bürgerliches Restaurant mit den üblichen "Verdächtigen". Düsseldorfer Schnitzel und Cordon Bleu. Beides superlecker. Hier gibt es noch richtige Bratkartoffeln, selbstgemacht, gross und mit Speck: perfekt. Service war sehr nett und gut.
