A cozy cafe/restaurant with incredibly delicious cakes and a view of the lake. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We felt very welcome, as did our dog.

Once and never again. The Christmas menu consisted entirely of game dishes, with only one vegetable alternative. A glass of cola cost €5.50 and a glass of beer €5.40; the other dishes totaled around €25-30, and the portions were so tiny you couldn't even get full.

I was very disappointed with the food. Very little food for a lot of money. The ambiance was good and the waiters were friendly.

Wonderful. A smile greeted us upon arrival, and the service was completely customer-oriented and genuine. We often come for lunch, and then again for coffee. Both are highly recommended, and as they say, "cake doesn't make you fat, it just smooths out wrinkles." We'll definitely be back and highly recommend it! Greetings from Heikendorf.

Cozy and with a beautiful view over the lake... Be sure to use the outdoor terrace when the weather is nice. The restrooms were okay, but could use a refresh... sometimes it's just the little things.

A fantastic location with a great selection of delicious cakes. Unfortunately, the outdoor terrace is often overcrowded and very difficult to access for people with mobility issues. The existing ramp really needs improvement to improve accessibility; otherwise, only wheelchair acrobats can get up there. 😉 The food is consistently delicious, but you should allow some time. The service is quick, good, and helpful. I'd gladly come again.

The restaurant is incredibly cozy! The ambiance, location, and view are all beautiful. The food is superb! Excellent chefs. And most importantly, the service is always friendly; you could easily spend hours there. Afterwards, you can even rent a pedal boat from the owner at the lake – he's a lovely owner!

This restaurant is highly recommended. From the moment you enter, you feel warmly welcomed and, above all, seen. A truly tastefully decorated restaurant. You're greeted by a friendly waitress at the door and can choose your own seating... inside, semi-outdoors, or outside. Service is truly a priority here. You can feel how comfortable the team feels under the truly friendly hostess. She seeks out friendly customer contact, something you unfortunately rarely see these days. The food was presented in a modern yet traditional way. It was also very, very tasty. My goulash was served on a very warm plate; great service. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. The price/performance ratio is simply top-notch!

Unfortunately, I have to give it one star because the waiter, who is supposedly German, and we wanted something to eat as usual, and the boys wanted a drink first, but the rude waiter came in with a bad mood and said it was dinner time, no drinks, and that we only had 10 minutes to drink. Great location, friendly service – but prices are out of balance The Villa Colonial Malente is in a truly beautiful location – the view of Lake Dieksee is fantastic, and the terrace is a great place to linger. The staff was very friendly and service-oriented, nothing to complain about. The food was very tasty, although some dishes were rather small in portions. The prices were a definite negative – unfortunately, the value for money isn't there. Drinks, in particular, are priced at the high end. Another irritating feature: Many prices on the website are listed €2-4 cheaper – and have apparently been for some time. The fact that the online menu isn't up to date seems a bit careless. Conclusion: Beautiful location, friendly service – but the prices aren't convincing.

An exceptionally beautiful cafe with a great atmosphere, delicious cakes and very friendly staff.

This is questionable business practice... we arrive at 9:20 p.m. and want to have one or two drinks each for the four of us. There are still several guests in the restaurant and free seats, and the opening hours on Thursday are listed as 10:00 p.m. Nevertheless, we are rudely asked to leave, claiming that the bell has already rung for the last round... very questionable behavior! Then you shouldn't be posting outside or on the homepage or online until 10:00 p.m. Rude and strange! And a shame... ☹️

The restaurant is located right on the lake and offers a fantastic view. The waiters were attentive and very friendly. The food was simply excellent. I had the mushroom pan and can highly recommend it. Very, very tasty. Served with a nicely chilled rhubarb spritzer. What more could you want?

A real hit :) The ambiance is fantastic; the terrace offers a fantastic view of Lake Dieksee, and the trees also complete the ambiance. You don't need to reserve a table on the terrace. Occupancy was 50-60%, and the servers were friendly and competent. The menu arrived quickly, as did the drinks. Lunch arrived surprisingly quickly (less than 15 minutes) and was delicious. It was filling, and two people spent a total of €52, including tip, which was by no means excessive considering the quality, speed, and atmosphere. Highly recommended :)

The restaurant's location is, of course, top-notch. Sitting outside, you have a wonderful view of Lake Dieksee. The food was delicious (I had the vegan bowl), but it's a bit pricey. The service was very friendly.

A schnitzel, whether Jäger or Wiener, with fries is quite expensive at around €21. Generally very expensive, but the ambiance and location with a terrace overlooking the lake are worth the money.

So far, yes, but the expensive salad with steak strips was meager, with two limp slices of bread and barely any fresh vegetables. We've had better here. The staff was very friendly.

Delicious food right on the shore of Lake Dieksee in Malente. The view, if you're lucky enough to get a table on the terrace, is wonderful. I have no complaints; the menu offers something for everyone, and the price-performance ratio is reasonable. The food arrived quickly, and the service was attentive, friendly, and prompt. I was there in the afternoon; I can imagine that a reservation would be advantageous in the evening. Coming with a dog is no problem!

There's nothing to complain about the food, except that my burger was served lukewarm. The ambiance is very nice thanks to the lake view, but you have to like the many 'sayings' on the walls. The service was disappointing. We waited over an hour for the food; our orders were slammed down on the table in an unfriendly and hasty manner, even though the place wasn't particularly busy. The waiters kept taking short breaks and were certainly aware of what was going on, giving us plenty of quick glances when we were about to order, but they simply didn't care. There are student waiters who deliver more for minimum wage. Whether that should be their own standard is something the waiters have to decide for themselves.

Nice restaurant with reasonable prices. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, the wait was quite long, but we were clearly informed of this beforehand. The location is fantastic.

The ambience of the restaurant at Diecksee is very nice. After waiting over an hour for our food, we were very disappointed, especially with the asparagus meals. First of all, the asparagus was decorated with a cheese (probably from the bag), which was not specified on the menu or anywhere else. The 500 grams of asparagus stated in the special menu were not nearly achieved with the 5 medium-sized spears. The asparagus was so overcooked and watery that it couldn't be enjoyed. The waiter told us that the asparagus was medium, so it would be a compromise between al dente and soft. It definitely wasn't, but it was also badly peeled. Burgers, fries and currywurst are probably okay in the restaurant - but I wouldn't order special dishes here, and certainly not asparagus.

We came here for coffee. Great selection of cakes and very tasty. We'd love to come back.

The restaurant is beautifully situated by the lake and it's lovely to sit on the terrace. The street is sometimes a bit noisy, you have to know that. The service is great, even when it's full. And it's definitely often full here. I for one will come back. I ate asparagus with schnitzel for around €25. Great, fresh, hot, and requesting an extra sauce wasn't a problem either (at no extra charge of course). Worth every penny. This is how good, real gastronomy works!👍

Very good restaurant with a nice selection of food, very good service and a view of the lake. Price performance is very good compared to other restaurants in town. My steak was medium rare. The asparagus cream soup was so delicious that we came back for lunch just for it.

We always enjoy staying at the villa. So far, every time I drink it with coffee. The selection of cakes is large, the quality is very good and the staff is always very friendly. When the weather is good, you can sit on the terrace and enjoy the view over the lake.

I was lucky without a reservation and got a table despite the restaurant being full. One of the few restaurants that also have something for vegetarians on the menu.

Full marks…..! That says it all! Always our go-to place when we are in Malente because everything is right. The food was delicious and also regional, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was lovely and cozy. You don’t even want to get up 😜…. These are actually the basic requirements for an evening in the restaurant, but unfortunately they are becoming increasingly rare! That's why we keep coming back, even though we already know the menu 'by heart' 😜!!!! Doesn't matter…

Very nice restaurant! Fast, helpful service staff. We've eaten there 6 times within a short period of time. It is a true culinary experience. The duck breast with Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, potato gratin and super delicious sauce is a poem. I ordered from the special menu as well as the venison goulash, which my husband also ordered a second time. The roast beef with fried potatoes and salad is also recommended. There are well-cut slices and a sufficient portion of fried potatoes. They are crispy, freshly fried. Not chopped up. All highly recommended! Dessert was also delicious 😋 Thanks for the overall package and the taste experience. The Black Forest cake and the nut cake are a poem! I fell in love with the ambience of the restaurant and the menu! Unfortunately my stay in Malente is coming to an end soon, but I think we will come back again sometime.

Ever time we visit family in Eutin, we visit Villa Colonial. The food is excellent, the desserts are outstanding and the service is prompt and courteous. We highly recommend this restaurant

We were there spontaneously at lunchtime today. It is very cozy/well-kept and definitely a highlight to sit outside by the lake in summer. Even the work clothes match the ambience. One can only congratulate the food/the chef and the team. From the duck with cranberries to the dessert, it was a poem. Prepared and served with a lot of love. A restaurant you should definitely visit in Malente. The price-performance ratio is absolutely justified and I don't think it's too expensive either. Friendliness and somehow the feeling that you have known each other for a long time is noticeable. We'll be back next summer. The good looking cakes are a must try. 😀

Were there today with 2 adults and 2 children. I had a delicious starter with a small portion of mushroom pan, super tasty and then had the deer burger, also super tasty 😋. Would recommend the restaurant again and again, nice service and delicious food.

Here I enjoyed by far the best steak of my life!!! "Beef fillet steak under a herb crust" - every single bite is a poem and with the last piece there is a feeling of melancholy and farewell that everything has to come to an end... unfortunately!

Were here for the second time today and it was great again. The ambience is a dream...the sunset over the Dieksee and excellent food and service. We thought it was great that the season ticket (despite the same autumn season) had something new in it, which I ordered straight away. The pumpkin soup was also modified and just as delicious. For the main course we had hake and venison goulash, both great! So we'd love to come back! Sorry, the pictures aren't great, my Habdy is old😂

We celebrated our wedding at Villa Colonial and everyone was thrilled! There were almost 50 of us and we had a wonderful, quiet area at the top of the restaurant where we were completely undisturbed, even though the restaurant was still running at the same time. The cakes were simply excellent and the buffet left nothing to be desired. It was super tasty and everyone enjoyed it. The service was excellent. After dinner we moved to the Villa Down Under - a bar where you can celebrate. The change of location was great because it loosened up the company even more and no one just sat in their place all day. It was a wonderful day and we would like to thank the Villa team from the bottom of our hearts for their commitment!! We would celebrate here again at any time and can wholeheartedly recommend the villa!

Very great location with a very good selection of delicious cakes, unfortunately the outdoor terrace is often overcrowded and very difficult to reach for people with walking difficulties, the existing ramp needs to be reworked in terms of accessibility otherwise you can only get up here as a wheelchair artist, 😉

We spontaneously went there for dinner with three people, two adults and a child. In addition to drinks, we also ate very well and had a lot of fun on the sun terrace. Huge praise goes to the outstanding service from the employees. With a lot of friendliness and attentiveness, every wish was always fulfilled and everyone was completely satisfied. The food was also world class and tasted excellent. We ordered the burger, a bowl with steak strips and a children's meal with fish. We would love to come back and are really looking forward to it. We can therefore recommend the restaurant to everyone.
